If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to? Introduction Imagine the power of giving away a million dollars! For many, this opportunity would allow them to impact lives, support causes close to their heart, and create meaningful change. In this blog, I’ll explore how I would allocate a million dollars and why the causes I choose align with my values. Let’s break down…

This whole apartment hunt is once again showing me that working class people are not expected to make it into academia. Oh what do you mean you don't have wealthy parents paying for your flat on top of your fully funded PhD scholarship?
#I'm legally not allowed to work outside of the university because of my student visa#So I have to live off the scholarship#And you'd think a university giving you full funding would be enough to survive??

if you’re a college student btw check if your university offers the ability to request refunds on things such as gym fees, club fees (i know some universities, such as ASU offers the ability to restrict which clubs your payment goes into, as some students are mobilizing to defund Turning Point USA on campus), etc, in all likelyhood, if you put any money into the university you may be funding things you do not agree with morally or ethically, and you do have some power to change that, evaluate where every dollar is going & if you find yourself getting a reasonable refund consider redirecting that money to a Palestinian family, or someone you know in need
#personally i only give funds to student media & the library#and try to get back as much as i can#this is especially helpful if you are a student on scholarships btw.

first question whyyyy are master's degrees Like That. second question whyyyy is no one willing to pay me lots of money to be an archaeology postgrad
#third question why are there so many master's scholarships for business students. they're gonna make it back anyway#cambridge is so far the only UK uni i've encountered willing to offer an academic merit scholarship that actually covers tuition#considering applying for archsci master's specifically (<- no background in archsci but a dream and a string of firsts)#and they might count as STEM? and thus be eligible for STEM funding and not just sosci funding. need to look into that

There's something so tragically funny to me about my university dropping something like 18 courses AND raising tuition for the following semester. I know it's not just my university raising tuition but coupled with the idea that they want students who are in those dropped courses to just- pick something similar.
My brother in Christ, no one who has these majors and wants a degree for it is going to "pick something similar," not when universities are as expensive as they are from the get-go. They're going to go somewhere else and receive their degrees in that major. It's not rocket science, and if it was, it'd be cut with the rest of the astronomy/astrophysics department.
I'm not a business or marketing major so I can't argue all the ins and outs of capitalism and how it affects education, but I am someone who pays enough attention to know that cut degree programs = less students attending = less money given to the university. My predictions beyond that are all speculatory, but I'm figuring the school will continue to raise tuition prices while cutting majors, and soon no one will attend that university for it's lack of degree programs and high tuition prices.
#rant#university discourse#anti capitalism#capitalism sucks#finally got my tuition statement for next semester and...yeah it'll be fun being broke for a while#I'm lucky that most of it is paid by a scholarship but i can't imagine going to university without one#the worst part i think is that its a public university so it's funded by the state and STILL losing money#public universities should not cost students money is my entire ramble. i can understand it for private universities maybe??#it should be like how k-12 is in the united states but gotta keep people from being able to survive somehow ig#the paper ceiling is a motherfucker#paper ceiling ramble#shut up remy

our country going deeper and deeper into awful living conditions all around for every province and for every demographic (that isn't rich) but specially for every student, working class women, agricultural n manual workers and anyone entering the work force is so fucking upsetting that reading the news sometimes makes me want to weep. it scares me to think that by the time this government term is done we might be in the pits of hell
#it makes me sick to try to look out into the future and have it seem so bleak if we continue the same#we have an educational crises right now for students of ages 5 to 17 and I just read that#as scholarships funded by the government have been cut down, the rates of student enrollment lowered#this administration has been so ineffective it makes me sick to think of#txt.me

seeing that my financial aid for the upcoming Fall semester will just barely cover tuition due to the (unreasonable annual) tuition increase.... I feel like stabbing actually
#grad school#being a master's student is like none of the scholarship benefits of undergrad and none of the pay of a phd#worst of both worlds :)#(yes there is Some funding available but it's much less compared to undergrad)#(and TA spots are limitrd at my school. in fact they tell us that an off campus job would pay us more lolololol)#*limited#phd students are getting paid pennies but at least they're getting paid at all I'm sawri#i still support the grad student unions asking for pay raise tho. we're all gettinf screwed tbh#mia posts a thing

Low cost Scholarships for International Students: Making Foreign Studies More Affordable for You
This is however complicated by limited resources since many students aspire to go for higher education abroad. Thankfully international students are now benefiting from low cost scholarships for international students which are knocking down these barriers. Out of these opportunities, the ability to work and grant student loan is one of the best scholarship programs for African students.
Detailed Assistance from the JAN Scholarship Program
The JAN Scholarship Program is equally focused on training African students who possess strong leadership attributes. As there are students from different socio-economic groups, so are worthy students who can’t fund their education in other countries, and that is why JAN offers such deserving students complete scholarships. This specific program pays for tuition fees, living and other essential expenditures enabling students to follow their studies in the best educational establishments in the world including those in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
A holistic perspective to fostering students' aspirations goes beyond the provision of funds
A key distinguishing aspect of JAN as one of the world’s best scholarship programs is that it is a comprehensive program. Besides money, JAN provides mentorship, network, and career advice. Those who are endowed with a JAN investment have a number of experienced professionals and leaders who assist them to grow and advance their careers. This international network encourages students to acquire the necessary skills to contribute positively in the host countries as well as back home.
Looking for Other Viable Scholarship Offers
For the international pupils in search of affordable scholarships, the best option would be the JAN Scholarship Program. However, there are other programs that exist which are able to meet the objectives of global education as well. Options for scholarships including the Weissman Fund, Fulbright Program, Erasmus +, and Chevening Scholarship have numerous advantages no matter the region, academic field and personality goals one has. In order to discover suitable possibilities, therefore the students should consider applying to several scholarships and programs.
Addressing a More intractable Problem:
Finally, the possibility of granting opportunities for foreign education for students with vision such as the JAN scholarship program, work opportunities as well as career prospects have constructive benefits. In particular, if you’re an African student with a vision for change, then JAN could be the beginning of something great both for yourself and the communities you seek to get help for.
