Functional Movement Screen: FMS.
Tumblr media
Punteggio 3 : all'individuo che riesce a fare il movimento senza nessuna compensazione secondo i criteri stabiliti;
Punteggio 2 : all'individuo che può fare movimenti, ma deve utilizzare semplici modelli meccanici o di compensazione per effettuare il movimento;
Punteggio 1 : per l'individuo che non riesce a fare i movimenti senza modelli di compensazione;
Abbiamo:
Test dello Squat Profondo (Deep Squat)
Test del Passo ad ostacolo (Hurdle Step)
Test dell'affondo in linea (In-line lunge test)

Being a business owner it can be tough to find time to progress my personal education and development. The Functional Movement Screen is a certification that I have wanted for a long time but was finding it hard to sit down, study, and take the test. I am please to announce that I have passed the Level 1 FMS Certifcation exam and can now add that credential to my list. I have a few more that I have my eye on, so be ready to see a few more announcements in the near-ish future! #createfitness #fit #fitness #fitdad #coach #personaltrainer #backontrack #lift #liftheavy #ocr #spartan #spartanrace #spartancompetior #2019spartanpass #allin #spartantrifecta #trifecta #roadtotheworldchampionships #menwithtattos #menwithbeards #cheer #cheerleader #cheerleading #businessowner #entrepreneur #gymowner #nikerunclub #certification #fms #functionalmovementscreen (at Create Fitness) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5RZXuwgazv/?igshid=13oyio7xybgwf

Happy Sunday folks. So I have a new client over at Smartense. Jamison is a stud infielder for the state ranked 12U Smartense Angels. Today was his second sessions. The first session was his assessment. I asked him if he could touch his toes. I told him I'd fix that on Sunday. Now Strength Coaches, Trainers, PT's and ATC's did I really fix him or do I just get the assist......lol. If I did fix him shout to Gray Cook and the FMS I love seeing the look on a client's face every time this happens. You Strength Coaches, Trainers etc know what I'm talking about. Have a great week btw. #graycook #functionalmovementscreen #fms #performancetraining #antagonist #hiphinge #hiphinge #respiration #toetouchprogression #baseball #travelbaseball #smartensetraining #mobility #flexibility # (at SmarTense Training LLC.)

The Functional Movement Screen I had a couple of injuries last week, a glute strain on my left side then the levator scapulae in the right shoulder, the usual problems driven by ten years of sitting behind a desk. But I should know better! Aside from idleness and poor diet which are drivers of these, and falling over which is sometimes unavoidable (!), all injuries are a result of one of three things, poor movement patterns, poor technique, and overworking. For me it is the first one, but probably with a bit of over doing it as well. So yesterday Simon the owner of Latitude 44 put me through the Functional Movement Screen. The FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. We can then monitor the FMS score to track progress and to identify those exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength in each individual. There are a ton of stats on how well it has worked for injury prevention but I won't bore you with these, I know you believe me! So each test is scored on a scale of 0 to 3 giving a total score out of 21. You can see from my scores a few specific challenges around the deep squat and leg raise in particular, and some challenges around shoulder mobility. The challenges around the squat were less about flexibility as I could get into the right position when lying on the ground so are therefore a combination of stability issues and movement pattern issues (my brain telling my body that it can't so something it can). The other issues were the hamstrings and the dorsiflexors (ankles) both of which were simple flexibility problems. The shoulder mobility issues are driven by a circa two inch asymmetry between the left and the right, definitely a cause for the recent injuries! So I now have a clear idea of the issues in my body, the reasons for them, and a plan to solve them (long list below!!!). So we're going to change the training program around a bit as there's no point in cracking on with strength building every day until the fundamentals are sorted! If you have any long standing problems, or problems at all, I can strongly recommend looking up your nearest FMS registered coach, sort out the fundamentals and live a pain free life!
