Oklahoma is doing some real fucked up shit (along with other states) to our two spirit, trans, & non binary family. It’s hard to stomach but it’s no shock. Please please vote & write/call/email your legislators. Protest, make all your dissatisfaction heard, & take care of yourselves and each other.

Living in an era of social media and the internet is great for staying informed but I am so tired and so scared and so stressed about so many things I’m powerless to do anything about. Realistically I know sharing information and voting helps but I feel so insignificant in the grand scheme of things
#I can’t even get my own life under control#like#idk just watching hurricane Milton follow Helene with all the wars and genocides across the world and the flooding in the Sahara#and fucking. Ryan Walters the motherfucker in charge of our schools mandating they teach the TRUMP BIBLE#I hope to god we vote this fucker out soon

AS A TEACHER IN OKLAHOMA, the last one is ABSOLUTELY true!!
To his initial specifications, only the “Trump Bible” would work—and they forced him to expand his specifications. He also wants to buy 55,000 bibles and there’s not even that many teachers in the state.
VOTE BECAUSE IT MATTERS MORE THAN FUCKING EVER.
Today in 🍂✨October surprises✨🍂
• Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and Secretary of Labor Julie Su quietly assisted in winning labor rights for dockworkers, ending a strike that could have had catastrophic economic consequences. (10-4-24)
• In Springfield, Ohio, where Haitian migrants have been blamed for the disappearance of local animals with Trump claiming “‘migrants are walking off’ with geese in the town” and “they’re eating the dogs” - a lie also promoted by JD Vance, Ohio’s own sitting Senator, with no evidence - it turns out that the missing geese were actually the victims of a 64-year-old white man who was hunting illegally. (10-3-24)
• A Trump-appointed federal judge blocked Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan again after another judge reinstated it earlier this week. (10-3-24)
• Republicans and crazy Facebook uncles everywhere have spent this week spreading disinformation about the FEMA response to Hurricane Helene, including AI photos of Trump standing in floodwater and wild claims that Biden is sending money to undocumented immigrants. In reality, the Biden-Harris administration has provided substantial emergency assistance and both Biden and Harris have visited the region. Meanwhile, it turns out that Trump was the one who redirected money from disaster relief to send to ICE during his presidency. Shocker. (10-4-24)
• Seriously, though, Trump is not who you want to call in an emergency. Before allowing disaster relief to reach victims of wildfires in California, then-president Trump forced aides to show him an electoral map to see if he had voters there. He evidently intended to withhold the aid if he found out it was going to mostly Democratic voters. This would be a career-ending scandal in any other political era but alas, we are living in this one. (10-3-24)
• Finally, far-right extremist and Oklahoma superintendent of schools Ryan Walters intends to put Bibles in public schools, which is already disturbing, but in a stunning display of corruption, the only ones that meet his specifications are the so-called “Trump Bibles” that include the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They go for $60 apiece and Trump gets fees from each one. (10-4-24)
No, wait, I’m going to say that one again:
In Oklahoma, taxpayers’ money will be used to put Trump Bibles in public schools. Their money will go directly to Trump. Not a joke!!! Not an exaggeration!!!
…Surely the voters who are still undecided are lying, right?? Right?!
30 days until Election Day.
Go to vote.org for a sample ballot, early voting dates, and more. Seriously, we have to win.

Oklahoma state senator Tom Woods referring to queer ppl saying “we don’t want that filth in Oklahoma”, days after news broke of the murder of nonbinary teenager Nex Benedict, is fucking evil. This is the shit that directly leads to people fucking murdering us. I truly cannot express how vile this man is. Same goes for the superintendent of schools, Ryan Walters, who had the audacity to say that “there’s not multiple genders. There’s two. That’s how God created us”, also within days of Nex’s murder being made public. Our deaths mean nothing to them. They cannot even pretend to mourn us without adding that they see us as less than human.

ryan walters, the superintendent of education in oklahoma everybody! as we all know, the height of professionalism is to purposely conflate being a queer child with pedophilia. This video explains quite well :)
he refused to cooperate with the education secretary and provide records of what taxpayer money was spent on, leading to her resignation because she could not do her job without the data he withheld.
he is accused of misspending up to $29 million dollars in pandemic relief funds by showing preferential treatment to private schools and (well to-do) individual families, leaving impoverished kids behind.
he is accusing at least nine teachers of lying on their applications for the $50k bonus paid out to them last year and is requiring them pay back the full $50k each- nevermind that after taxes, they receive just under $30k apiece. nevermind that these people- who are teachers, and are already struggling to support their families- have had the money for weeks and have spent it on things like healthcare and paying off loans. he also claims that 'the media' is contributing to 'the problem'. what problem, im not sure. maybe that people are paying attention to his incompetence?
ryan walters is a fucking disgrace and oklahomans ought to be fucking seething. we deserve better. kids deserve better. teachers deserve better.

Unlike conservatives, I think child murder is bad regardless of who the child is. Also unlike conservatives, I have the wisdom and clarity to know that RYAN FUCKING WALTERS IS A HEARTLESS, BIGOTED CHILD MURDERER.
I won't rest until he and every other person dedicated to killing queer children, killing palestinian children, killing disabled children is dead or ousted from their position of power.

as someone who has lived in oklahoma for over ten years and been through the public school system there since elementary school, hearing about the death of nex benedict barely shook the earth for me until i saw that not only people from my community were outraged by it—i genuinely felt like oklahoma was this vacuum where everything awful happens to queer kids and nothing would ever be fixed, and seeing people from all over the globe show their anger and horror about this poor 15 year old's death and with how fucking evil ryan walters is has been life changing. we're not alone out here. i'm not alone. rest in power nex.
#oklahoma#nex benedict#rambles#im actually near tears for the first time about this right now#idk it's all hitting me. i didnt fathom that it would make international news#so many people i've respected are posting about it who dont even live in the states

season 6 thots
saved all my complimence and criticisms until the end for all our sakes
The new Professor puppet is great and I love him. He looks cuddly as shit, and I hope he continues to get more fun outfits.
Shane please put arm rods on the Professor I’m begging. If u can move his hands he’ll look so much more animated and can do a lot of funny shit that way
I enjoyed this season’s theme of “people who, no matter where or what they were, decided to just do some batshit stuff in life” and didn’t make us think in absolutes of They Were Obviously Evil/Good and let us draw our own conclusions.
(It also fit with Ryan and the Professor’s character arcs imo- they’ve both made mistakes, and the Antarctica episode Especially is about leaders whose personal shortcomings lead to uhhhh Death! so)
THAT BEING SAID I am WAITING for a follow up on the Catholic church’s abuse where it’s condemned. It was not right at all for that hat to get off scot free like it did. Send his ass to hell
idk who exactly writes the songs for puppet history but the fact they can write something that flops as hard as the Dragon's song and then something with the genuinely stunning vocabulary and imagery of Antarctica's is fucking insane.
i love the horse subplot going on. fuck elmer walter williams. go dorothy ruth murphy. chase the truth. while im at it? go dinosara. i'm so happy for her
season was a Bit Eurocentric imo. disappointing
the production quality of the puppets has increased so drastically. it's genuinely pleasing to see this medium being treated well even by amateur performers. i extend a Big Bravo to the cast & crew at Watcher!!!
i'm neither disappointed nor glad about the "lack" of lore- it's one of my favorite parts of the show, but what i love most is just getting to watch it and learn new things. however if you guys didnt want us asking so many questions you shouldn't have made such a cute and fun Host and cast of supporting characters to get attached to<3
already looking forward to next season, though i'm predicting a holiday special along the same lines as the funeral one- i think halloween is an appropriate time to find out what happened to all our "dead" friends and foes dont u 🤔 but maybe that is Wishful Thinking.....
#mod post#puppet history#watcher entertainment#puppet history s6#im planning on joining the watcher patreon soon!!

holy shit I miss being able to stand and go to protests back home
I fucking hate Kevin Stitt and his wretched hounds for continuing to destroy what little the people of Oklahoma have left
I miss how anarchist groups were comprised of such solidarity between trans and indigenous folks because of how few Oklahomans have a damn about our respective issues. The solidarity and embrace of intersectionality in a state so hostile to leftist action is something I miss so much. There were so few of us, and it was so hard to keep up morale knowing we were shouting into a void, but putting up a show that we weren’t going to submit easily even with the odds stacked against us though they were. Even should we fail, there was a peace that came with accepting that we might see the fruits of our labor in our lifetimes
Nex Benedict belonged to the Choctaw Tribe, Nex Benedict was 2spirit
The Oklahoma government has quite the history of brutalizing trans and indigenous folk and counting on nobody caring enough to worry about covering their tracks, don’t let Kevin Stitt, Chaya Raichik, Ryan Walters, or any of those devils feel peace for how they continue to force queers out of the state under threat of death, and do not forget the inhumanity of those who continue to wreak havoc upon the tribes who were forcibly relocated to the state in the first place. Fucking robbed of their ancestral lands and given tiny slices of land in a state so undesirable it was considered no man’s land. And even then, the state of Oklahoma isnt content to let the cultures the tourist board endlessly commodifies have even the slightest of good things. The OKGOV is hungry. They want a slice of the consolation prize and now they get to squeal with glee that they got away with the murder of a member of the Choctaw Nation and the Queer community in one go.
By god I hope those absolute demons in the OK Capitol and the US Capitol live to pay for what they’ve done to permanently destroy any hopes the people of Oklahoma had left. absolutely unrepentantly evil

You are so right about SOME woman journalist looking down on them still . I cant forget the bitch Barbara Walters LAUgHING in the face of Eric when he said during the abuse he was just a kid and she was like ha ha ha just a kid ,you are a murderer! On God i wanted to punch my screen so bad when she said it , you coud see the pain in his eyes :( i wanted to ask you what about the bastard Ryan Murphy do you think if they get there freedom , do you think he will try to clame it as his win and you are free becouse of me . I fucking hate how much he financially benefits out of the pain of the Jeffrey D movie and now this , also making the brothers have sexual energy about them was EVIL, so evil of him to do . Alot of people point out how he is making does suddel sexual things in the movie just for the views and i find that pure EVIL knowing its not true and knowing how much the brothers suffered. Is there anything in Murphys chart that points at him proffiting and getting money out of other peoples pain? sorry for the angry rant i just fuckign HATE Barbara( how she shamed britney sp too ) and the director f****** i hate them so much
Hi anon, sometimes I just wanna 👵🏻 🤏 snatch her wig off—
I personally don’t know what Ryan Murphy will do, but I do know he twists murder cases to his advantage. Even the Menendez case was not really a matter of murder, more so violations of human rights and abuse. It’s disheartening to see Ryan Murphy depicting victims as criminals.

Character Limit by Kate Conger and Ryan Mac
Behind the scenes of a corporate acquisition that changed social media for ever
There was a time, just three or four years ago, when you could follow the news closely and not hear about Elon Musk for days – or even weeks. He was well on his way to becoming the world’s richest man, and was already a polarising figure, but he was a missable one. Those days are long gone.
Musk is now locked in a fierce public battle with the government and judicial system of Brazil, in the name of free speech, after he refused a court order to block several accounts that were accused of spreading hate speech and disinformation. He is a key figure in the US election race, having been lined up for a job finding savings in government spending should Donald Trump – who he has endorsed – win the presidency. Thanks to his Starlink satellites, he is a critical figure in the balance of power between Russia and Ukraine.
Musk is a powerful man because of his wealth and his control of strategic industries, including space launch and satellites. But he is inescapable because of the social network he took over and then transformed: Twitter.
Even people who never used Twitter more or less know its story over the last few years: Musk bought it, gave it a juvenile new name, X, and the whole thing seems to have been a complete mess that has made everyone miserable, including Musk himself.
That makes the job of New York Times reporters Kate Conger and Ryan Mac in their chronicle of the takeover and its resulting fallout, a difficult one: almost anyone who might actually read this book is pretty familiar with how things have played out. How can you make a story compelling when each step along the way has already been so heavily covered?
Conger and Mac’s answer to that is their astonishing ability to take the reader into almost every room that mattered during the contentious $44bn acquisition. The book opens with a Twitter data scientist getting ready to meet Musk, ostensibly in a bid to keep his job. The employee, however, has already decided he’s quitting and is instead using the opportunity to level with the new boss. The encounter goes predictably badly, leading him to accuse Musk of being one of the most gullible men on the planet. The book records Musk’s response as being two words long: “Fuck you.”
At other moments, the narration seems to know Musk’s exact movements when he was at home with his then-girlfriend Claire Elise Boucher (better known as the musician Grimes), or the conversations that take place on his plane. Such is the apparent omniscience that impressive accounts of goings-on in boardrooms and executive suites during the takeover seem par for the course.
Musk himself did not grant the authors an interview. Some of their insights come from court documents and other reporting, but there is no doubt that Conger and Mac enjoyed unmatched access to a range of characters from all sides. You couldn’t hope for a better ringside seat on the unfolding drama.
This closeup view is rarely flattering. Twitter’s co-founder, Jack Dorsey, comes across first as flighty and disengaged, then outright sulky as he is eased out as Twitter’s CEO – before himself joining Musk on the radical right. By the time we leave him, “his online posts were the kinds of things he would have had labelled or removed while he was Twitter’s CEO”. Musk’s authorised biographer, Walter Isaacson, seems to jump from observer to participant. Not only does he reportedly advise Elon Musk on the price point for his ill-fated plan to sell Twitter verification – the fabled “blue tick” – but apparently tells Musk to drop labels “for all media”.
Heroism, where it comes, centres on efforts to keep datacentres online, or to keep a moderation team in their jobs for another day or two to cover elections in the US and Brazil. Some characters are more sympathetic than others, but there are few good guys here – Character Limit is the story of a dysfunctional company becoming a shambolic one.
All of this makes for compelling reading, perhaps compelling enough to keep even people used to X’s 280-character-long posts engaged for a 430-page book, which is surely no small feat. Those who have followed the story obsessively will find plenty of nuggets to keep them interested if they can get past the somewhat stodgy first third of the book. Casual observers, who will probably have already had their fill from the endless news reporting on Musk’s antics, might find it harder going.
One of Conger and Mac’s challenges is that they are telling a story without an ending. X might go bust within the next year, or prove decisive in the 2024 presidential race. It could easily do both. In fact, the stately speed of book publishing means that Character Limit’s narrative has already been overtaken by events. As a retelling of exactly what happened and what it felt like to be there, it is a triumph. Anyone hoping for insights into what it all means, or what might happen next, will need to look elsewhere.
Musk’s companies have put more rockets into space this year than every government on the planet combined. He has businesses developing artificial intelligence, human-machine interfaces, self-driving vehicles, and more. A book with unprecedented access to his circle portrays him as a man with no impulse control, no plans, a desperate need for flattery and no ability to separate truth from fiction. If it leaves open the question of why he does what he does, and what he’ll do next, that may be because no one – least of all Musk – really knows.
