hey there any idea where to watch all of the murder on the orient express deleted scenes? :)
Hey there, anon! Thank you for your ask. There are 11 deleted scenes on the Murder on the Orient Express (2017) dvd. Some have been uploaded online via media outlets and some by fans. I’m including links to the uploads, and my own screencaps of the rest of the scenes:
- Hotel Check-in - Poirot arrives at the Tokatlian hotel in Istanbul. He’s telegrammed specific orders about his room reservation (10 bath towels, 10 bottles of mineral water, etc). The scene introduces his OCD. I did a gif set of it.
- Poirot Bedtime Rituals - We see Poirot’s slimming exercises routine and moustache grooming. He’s wearing a corset. Here’s a gif set. The only look we have at Poirot’s famous moustache kit. Ken Branagh talks about the kit here.
- Pierre Michel (the conductor) interview - The only suspect interrogation scene they cut. It’s a shame because Marwan Kenzari’s performance is touching, and the location they went with for the interview is visually interesting.
- Departure - A great shot of the Orient Express leaving the station. We see all the characters inside the traincars as they speed past the camera. Poirot is at the very end in the last car, looking pleased. This isn’t a CGI scene, it was shot in camera.
- The following tweet from a fan has a video of three deleted scenes:
1) The Mr Ratchett/Poirot sequence from the Arasta Bazaar/Alternate Opening scene, an alternate - and much longer - intro scene of several characters before they get to board the train. The widowed Mrs Hubbard is chatting up a bunch of local children, Pilar Estravados the missionary is talking to a jewelry seller, Miss Debenham is taking pictures on her camera and spots the Count and Countess Andrenyi.
In the movie we only see Ratchett and the Count and Countess Andrenyi at the cafe, but no Poirot, who got cut out. In the full deleted scene he’s got a bigger role, he sees the Count fighting the paps and is about to intervene (rising from his chair), when the Countess arrives and the fighting stops. Poirot sits down again. He’s eating a lot of food, and getting excited over famous desert, and like the clip in the tweet shows, Mr Ratchett is also ordering him a bottle of champaigne, but Poirot asks for a cup of hot chocolate instead, and toasts Mr Ratchett in thanks. Chefs making the chocolate for Poirot and closeups of Godiva chocolate do not appear in either the deleted scene or the theatrical cut. I giffed the Godiva sequence here.
2) Dreamscape - The full “Poirot vision”-like scene in b&w in which we get inside Poirot’s mind. It’s a sort of re-cap of the different clues Poirot’s gathered so far. He’s looking at all the suspects one by one, and there’s a cool group shot of them facing him. More on this scene below.
3) bits of the Poirot Bedtime Rituals scene I’ve already mentioned.
That’s all the scenes I’ve managed to find online, there might be more out there, the studio took down several clips. The ones left from the dvd are:
- Alternate Opening - B&w scene of Colonel Armstrong alone in a gloomy, darkened living room. He’s watching a projector clip of himself, his wife and daughter at play when they were all happy and carefree. Little Daisy is playing with her teddybear and dolly.
- Newsreel (Extended) - B&w reel of news footage and newspaper clippings about the Armstrong kidnapping case, “the story that shocked the world”. It serves as background info for the audience. Shots of the crime scene, the funeral, mother screaming on the floor, Daisy’s teddybear guarding a fresh grave.
- Breakfast - The extra footage that was cut from the Wailing Wall scene. After Poirot exposes the Chief Inspector, the Inspector wants to attack him from behind but Poirot intercepts with his cane without looking back. He doesn’t see the breakfast boy with the eggs who’s followed him to the Wall, and he swings his cane, hitting theeggs by accident. The tops of the eggs the boy is holding out to him, are cut off. Next shot is of Poirot finally eating breakfast, he’s seated by the Wall, with the boy and a waiter standing beside him.
- Train Montage - A short clip of Orient Express staff/waiters setting the tables, bringing in crates of food, arranging champaigne bottles, etc. Just a few extra shots that didn’t make it into the film.
- Luggage - Bouc and Michel the conductor going through some of the passengers’ luggage. Mostly closeups of the contents of their suitcases, with quick shots of Estravados the missionary, Schmidt the maid, Marquez the salesman and Hardmanthe professor, and one extra line from Estravados.
There are about 30 mins of other deleted footage that never landed on the dvd, including two major action scenes - Poirot chasing MacQueen the assistant out in the blizzard, shooting at MacQueen in warning, then saving him from drowning when the man falls into a river, and Poirot defending himself from Dr Arbuthnot, almost falling off the train and using his wits to get back inside.
Changes from the original script to the theatrical cut: The original denouement scene happened in the dining car like in the book (and the 1974 movie), not outside, though I’m not sure if they ever filmed the first version. There are some huge differences between the original script and the film. A lot of the clue-explaining, some of the exposition, character-establishing and other character moments, extra lines from interrogation scenes, chunks of dialog, etc, were cut. Settings and certain lines of dialogue were changed. More canon quotes were added into the movie, such as Poirot’s famous “My name is Hercule Poirot and I’m probably the greatest detective in the world” line from The Mystery of the Blue Train. Miss Debeham and Dr Arbuthnot kissed twice in the original script! No kisses in the movie. Pilar Estravados was Greta Ohlsson, like in the book (Estravados’ name comes from Hercule Poirot’s Christmas). Poirot remembers his canon “love interest“ Vera Rossakoff. She only gets a mention but is kind of instrumental to him solving the case. Vera was changed into “Katherine” in the movie, a new character, someone from Poirot’s past. Was it because Vera might appear in future movies?
Most of the characters get a bit more screentime in the original script. Poirot has a HUGE, HUGE “getting-inside-the-detective’s-head” scene where he sees all the suspects frozen like ice, or like in a photograph, and he can walk through the photograph and observe each suspect, each frozen facial expression, and analyze what everyone told him in interviews. He’s looking at all the clues again in his mind, brushing away those that aren’t relevant. For the audience, this would have been a bigger and more helpful re-cap of the mystery compared to “Dreamscape” above. It would have been an amazing showstopper scene.
I wish they could have kept some of these scenes as one of the biggest criticisms about the movie was that the audience couldn’t really follow the clues and play “detective”, Poirot did all the explaining himself - and quickly - and didn’t give them enough of a chance to solve the mystery on their own. The screenwriter originally had POIROT ANALYZE ALL THE CLUES in great detail. All the clues from the book are present. Poirot’s all about the clues and observation. He brainstorms which suspect could be guilty, which pairs of suspects could have killed Ratchett together. He considers them all in his mind, all the variations and possibilities, and the audience can see his thoughts. He’s moving from one suspect to the next, in a “refresh my memory” sort of scene for the viewers.
He’s not “omnipotent” nor “guessing” like some critics have complained. He tells you how he came by the conclusions. He does it in the movie but originally he talked a lot, lot more, and the scenes were trimmed for time constraints. Some of the details regarding the clues were the first to go. I love the movie dearly and always will but there’s an even greater potential in the original script, I think. Hopefully we see more deleted footage on future dvd sets. :)
Thanks again for your ask! If anyone would like me to gif any of the deleted scenes, please let me know! :)

So many gems in this one! It's a 15 mins interview in Spanish 2 days after the retirement ceremony and the transcript (even the spanish ones) don't really cover it all. Here's some added crucial points for those with language barriers:
The interviewer actually asked him about the crying + HANDHOLDING sitting together on the bench part in the beginning to which rafa replied with intense nervous laughter and what seems to be an embarassed blush lol. He said he was so emotional he didn't really remember specific moments from the ceremony tho, and he hasn't seen the pics (lord christ we are so doomed when he finally opens twitter 🥲) and also he didn't plan on crying at all but seeing roger cry he just became emotional 🥺 and felt kinda bad because he felt it was roger's moment (which explained why he kinda hide away in the background)
He also recalled their rivalry history! The first time he played with roger in Miami in 2004 but he remembered the first time they actually met ❤️ (in Wimbledon 2002 at a Nike event). He also said how their rivalry changed in the last 10 years, that they learned to enjoy it and savour it more even on a personal level.
He praised Roger so much saying nobody's ever done it like him with as much "elegancia" inside and outside of the court
There is a long section in which Rafa finally explained fully about how Roger asked him to be his partner in his last match: He basically said that after US Open his participation in Laver Cup is almost impossible. Roger called him personally 10 days before his announcement and told him everything. It seems that Roger basically bawled out and bare everything to him lol because Rafa said it was a very difficult conversation lasting about 15 mins, and he knew it was a total confidence that was invested in him and he would never break the news to anyone else beforehand. Roger then basically said that he knows how difficult the situation is for him but if the situation permits he wants to have his last days with Rafa on the court (I MEAN ASDFGHJKL). This was the defining thing that really made his decision, he then said he understands how important this moment was for Roger and for him to want "to share it with me is such a great honour" and important for him professionally and personally.
He also made so much fun of his english!!! It's so cute and endearing 🥺 but rafa's incredibly honest, vulnerable, witty, and open in spanish they way he never really get to be in english because of the language barrier and I truly wish a lot more ppl get to see this side of him!
Here's the actual full link (if anyone's interested)!
Rafa did a radio interview…
Both of them really had to drag themselves into that match 😢
#i tried my best with the spanish!!#hope this helps#it's such a gem i really wished there was a full interview transcript in english#fedal#rafael nadal#tennis#roger federer

14 - woke up at 5:20 ish and i jogged a bit at ui lmaoo. fisip - ft - fisip. By 6:30 im already back at my room. 1 hour can be spent a lot of different ways, it turns out. Washed my clothes. Ate monstercheese pizza. Slept a bit. Went to blok m with ara (she was late as always, surprised her with koi milk tea), ate futago ya (greasy cheesy milky goodness, enak tapi eneg afterwards), bought red bean bread at la mouette, bought discounted onigiri bento box at papaya. We went to m bloc space, looked around, ate gelato at kebunide (blueberry: yum, fresh, kiiinda feels artificial, salted caramel: delicious but makes me thirsty) and did photobox at connectoon. Walked to mrt asean but turns out!! for weekends mrt is closed at 8pm. Took grabbike to sudirman, seeing the pretty city and people just hanging out, playing skateboards on the wide sidewalks.
15 - planned to go jogging with salemba frens but i woke up late (06:45), so i just lazed around. Ate onigiri bento (super worth it for 25k for the proteins), fell asleep again 10ish to 14:30 lmaoo. The doms from yesterday was present even on the right side of my lower back 🙂 the red bean bread made me feel full, and the red bean was not too sweet, which i love. Reviewed some meshwork materials i missed. Fianti called and we talked abt her and hari
16 - had mujigae for sahur and fish bite for iftar. The fish was not as soft as fish streat, but the flour was definitely better and crunchy. But it doesnt have the seasoning micin like fish streat do. The pasta was quite a lot im in food coma afterwards. Fell asleep, and my stomach was so gassy that i woke up in the middle with a headache that does not play around. Fortunately it dissapeared in the morning

18 - finished reading blood link, girlll i thought the human died at the end. Did not buy food today wow. Took a nap and cicil kompre.
19 - brekkie at barel. Helped measuring antropometry today at clinic, and also measured my own. The fucked up thing was that i THOUGHT my body fat is still at 28% compared to the past (dr rina's research). So i looked at the old paper AND. I USED TO HAVE. 35% FAT 🙂 even my memories are in denial and are fooling me. All this time i thought i was at 28 🙂 did swab at rsui. The one swabbing was from fkui 2012 and we had small talk. It hurted more than lmk :( now this does feel like drowning in water (cause before i said "nah its not like water in nose"). Took angkot back to tamel, bought piscok lumer pocin and its soooo gooood ugh
20 - i feel like if i have breakfast with leftover rice and abon and sozzis i get hungry faster lmaoo. Ordered ken karaage from kukusan, yaa okela for 25k with ongkir. Did online posbindu education through wa. BTS BE COMEBACK 🥺 i maximized my wifi time (no wifi at tamel) so i listened to the whole album. My mobile data is at 200MB lol. Read a good longreads from the atlantic, about down synd and genetic screening. The writing is so so good im just blown away. And teary eyed.
21 - ran a bit, solid class (gastro, rheum, infection), embryo, webinar about sleep by dr Gita Anindyajati, SpKJ, bought ayam geprek gold chick (lotsss of oil since i ordered tempe, jamur, egg, bought pop cookies. matcha cheese was actually better than i expected (the combination somehow fits), dark chocolate and marshmallow is very chocolatey like mom’s brownies, and vegan strawberry cookie with a hint of mint. i wonder how they replace the egg. I wonder why after i run i dont feel hungry for a moment. bloating just gooes away
22 - joined kris' healthy weekly event (lmao) in tamsur. They went to epiwalk first. Its difficult for me to run w mask, ngl. Went back to tamel, embryo, ate leftover meal from gold and chick, felt somehow drained to the bone so i just laid in bed and lazed and lazed. Theres no soreness, but the weakness was generalized lmao. Ordered bbq chicken almond salad from salad point, it was actually quite fulfilling and delishhh (added chili sauce to the dressing). Literally laid in bed from 7 until i fell asleep and woke up at 6 the next day. Finished readin shame application lmao
23 - i still feel tired ckckck. No doms, but i feel like i just want to lay down. got DV patient today at clinic, its most likely derm numularis??? Ate salad and dark choco marshmallow cookies in the evening and that cookie. Is so damn sweet im just thinking about the increase in my blood sugar. And i like sweets so!!! Never thought id find sumn too sweet. Washed my clothes and cicil ukmppd (i put things about studying ukmppd in habitica now)
24 - ate tanoshi sushi and ufo ramen for bfast, ate the sushi again for lunch and after waking up from my sleep i tried kokku ramen (so so, but the egg yolk's good)
25 - bfast: superbubur, protein shake and cookies. (did not make me feel full long enough). Ordered burger from EATG (so so, burger bener is better) for lunch. Last day at makara ui. Ara arrived coz shes staying here in tamel. Waiting for mom to arrive from cibubur, she arrived at about 20:30. I passed out at home
26 - first day in pkm kalideres, i volunteered to be pj to avoid RSUD. my room is a mess, i feel tired after i go back. maybe its the physical withdrawal (?) because i dont walk like when im on klinik makara. came to pkm thinking i wont do anything (orientation only) but the 6 of us ended up going. i was at igd. i saw nail extraction and injected ats for another patient
27 - talked for almost an hour with the doctor at poli lansia. went home, felt sooo tired, i slept and actually showered after maghrib. originally planned to go to sbux but i was just tired af. my mood was horrible at home.
28 - turns out i started my period today. i havent studied at all during pkm kalideres era. embryo. slept again. read some manga by nishin something with the psychological and BL genre.
29 - embryo. cut my hair, showered, and felt better. fell asleep on dr gita's lecture. Drank cimory banana milk with a bit of matcha powder. I dont know if its the sleep, or a bit of caffeine, but my mood feels better and im more awake. Cicil ukmppd with a slow pace. Read itasaku ff. Slept at about 2 am
30 - surprisingly, i dont feel sleepy when i wake up. poli anak today, surprisingly i got perinatology case (jaundice). presented it on pleno. for bfast i ate 3 slice of bread (2 with meat and cheese, 1 choco and cheese) and protein shake, lunch: a slice of choco cheese bread and a banana, fell asleep, dinner: 1 bakwan, a banana and nextar. i can feel that the calories i got today is even less than what i usually got (and usually i already try to limit calories that i am counting the intake amout and made sure im not too far from my bmr lmaoo (~1100)

300+ TOP Oracle ADF Interview Questions and Answers
Oracle ADF Interview Questions for freshers experienced :-
1. What is Oracle ADF? Oracle Application Development Framework, usually called Oracle ADF, provides a commercial Java framework for building enterprise applications. It provides visual and declarative approaches to Java EE development. It supports rapid application development based on ready-to-use design patterns, metadata-driven, and visual tools. 2. What is the ADF Features? Making Java EE Development Simpler. Oracle ADF implements the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern and offers an integrated a solution that covers all the layers of this architecture with a solution to such areas as: Object/Relational mapping, Data persistence, Reusable controller layer, Rich Web user interface framework, Data binding to UI, Security and customization. Its supports Rapid Application Development. Declarative approve (XML Driven) Reduce Maintenance Cost and time SOA Enabled 3. What is ADF BC (Business Components)? Describe them. All of these features can be summarized by saying that using ADF Business Components for your J2EE business service layer makes your life a lot easier. The key ADF Business Components that cooperate to provide the business Service implementation is: Entity Object: An entity object represents a row in a database table and simplifies modifying its data by handling all DML operations for you. It can encapsulate business logic for the row to ensure your business rules are consistently enforced. You associate an entity object with others to reflect relationships in the underlying database schema to create a layer of business domain objects to reuse in multiple applications. Application Module: An application module is a transactional component that UI clients use to work with application data. It defines an updatable data model and top-level procedures and functions (called service methods) related to a logical unit of work related to an end-user task. View Object: A view object represents a SQL query and simplifies working with its results. You use the full power of the familiar SQL language to join, project, filter, sort, and aggregate data into exactly the “shape” required by the end-user task at hand. This includes the ability to link a view object with others to create master/detail hierarchies of any complexity. When end users modify data in the user interface, your view objects collaborate with entity objects to consistently validate and save the changes. 4. How does ADF fall in MVC architecture? Oracle ADF Architecture is based on the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern.MVC consists of three layers which are a model layer, view layer, controller layer. Oracle ADF implements MVC and further separates the model layer from the business services to enable service-oriented development of applications. The Oracle ADF architecture is based on four layers: The Business Services Layer This layer provides access to data from various sources and handles business logic. ADF Component comes, in this section are ViewObject, EntityObject, ViewLink, Association, etc The Model layer This layer provides an abstraction layer on top of the Business Services layer, enabling the View and Controller layers to work with different implementations of Business Services in a consistent way. ADF Component comes in this section are PageDefn, DataBindings,DataControls(AppModuleDataControl, WebServiceDataControl) The Controller layer This layer provides a mechanism to control the flow of the Web application. ADF Component comes in this section are TaskFlows(Bounded and unbounded, faces-config.xml, adfc-config.xml) The View layer This layer provides the user interface of the application. ADF components comes in this section are jsff, jspx page. 5. Oracle ADF Life Cycle Step by step It has the following phases : a) Restore view : When we hit the URL in the browser it will build the component tree corresponding to the tags given in the JSF pages. for the first time, it will build the tree and saves in the server memory. For the second time onwards, it will try to restore the existing component tree from the server memory. Otherwise, if there are any changes in the page components it will rebuild the tree again. b) Initialize Context : In this phase the databinding.cpx file will be read and the bindingcontext object will be created based on that. Binding context is nothing but a mapping of pages and page definitions. From the binding context, it will identify the page definition corresponding to the page. it will read the page definition file and creates the binding container objects. c) Prepare model : Once the binding Container is ready it will try to prepare the model objects bypassing any parameter values and if there are any task flow parameters are all evaluated in the phase d) Apply Request Values : If we enter any values in the browser against the form fields, those values will be applied against the component tree objects. e) Process validation : Once the values are applied to fields they will be validated if there any client-side validation is specified. like a mandatory min-max length. f) Update model values : Once UI validation is passed values will be applied to model objects like VO and EO g) Validate Model Updates : If there is any validation specified at entity level that will be executed. h) Invoke action : Event-related actions like the action method and action listener code will be executed i) Metadata commit : If there are any MDS related changes will be saved. j) Render response : Based on the action it will either navigate to the next page and display the response in the browser are continuing on the same page. 6. What are the various components in ADF? Oracle ADF has following components ADF Business Components: VO, EO & AM ADF Model : DataBinding (.cpx, .xml) & DataControls(.dcx) ADF View: JSP, JSF, ADF Faces etc. ADF Controller: Task flows (adf-config.xml), faces-config.xml 7. How to enable security to ADF Application? Go to the menu Application -> Secure -> Configure ADF Security and go through the wizard of creating login pages. Go to the menu Application -> Secure -> Application Roles and create an application role for this application. Create a test user and assign an application role to it. Grant all required application resources to this role. 8. How can you manage the transaction in ADF? In ADF transaction can we manage at ApplicationModule as well as task flow level. Task flow supports different mode of transaction like: No Controller transaction Always begin new transaction Always use existing transaction Use Existing Transaction if possible 9. What is the purpose of Chanage Indicator? While committing data to the table, database will check those columns to check weather we are committing on the latest data or not. 10. What is PPR in ADF? PPR means Partial Page Rendering. It means that in ADF we can refresh the portion of the page. We don't need to submit the whole page for that.
Oracle ADF Interview Questions 11. How to develop Master-details view in ADF? For Developing the Master-details view in ADF. You have to create a relationship between the 2 view object. That relationship can be created using the view link or association between entity Object. using that relationship you can create the master-details view of data. That master-details view can be Form-Form, Form-Table, Table-Table, Table-Form. 12. What is the difference between Action and ActionListener? ActionListener: ActionListener is the method which got invoked when the user clicks on the Component like button, command link, etc. Action: Action is the outcome of where you want to move once Actionlistener is completed. This can be defined in the task flow as an activity. So when listener completed application is redirected to define activity. 13. Definitions : jazn-data.xml - Store the security rules or permissions that you will create for the application, as well as providing a simple credential store for testing purposes. JDeveloper also updates the following files, which already exist: web.xml – Name of the login and error pages have been added to this file. weblogic.xml - The Section “security role assignment” of this file is used to map users (also called “principals”) to roles in WebLogic. adf-config.xml - Applications level settings like this MDS configuration, Database locking mode, View Object Max fetch size. faces-config.xml: The JSF configuration file is where you register a JSF application's resources such as custom validators and managed beans, and define all the page-to-page navigation rules. While an application can have any JSF configuration file name, typically the file name is the faces-config.xml file. Small applications usually have one faces-config.xml file. When you use ADF Faces components in your application, JDeveloper automatically adds the necessary configuration elements for you into faces-config.xml adfc-config.xml: The adfc-config.xml file is the default page flow diagram JDeveloper provided when you created an application based on the Fusion Web Application (ADF) template. adfc-config.xml is the default file name for an unbounded task flow. On this diagram, you can create a new page based on the template, which is not part of the existing orders-flow task flow. adf-settings.xml: we will register Page Phase listener 14. What Is Binding Context And Binding Container? Binding context is a runtime map between the data controls and page definition of pages in the application which is used to access the binding layer. It is accessible through the EL expression in your jspx pages. Binding container is a request-scoped map that is used to instantiate the page bindings. This is accessible through the EL expressions. Also, since it is request-scoped map, it is accessible during every page request. 15. Which component in ADF BC Manages transaction? Application Module, manages transaction. 16. Where is that we write business rules/validations in ADF and why? We should ideally be writing validations at an Entity Object level because they provide the highest degree of reuse. 17. What is the Controller in ADF in respect of MVC architecture? Controllers in the ADF framework are TaskFlows, Faces-config.xml, adfc-config.xml. In all there file you can define navigation between the pages. 18. What is an Entity object in ADF Framework? Entity object in ADF is similar to Table in the database. Any Number of view object can create on single Entity. 19. What is the View object in the ADF framework? ViewObject is representing the data collection. These view object can be created in different ways which are as follows: Entity-Based ViewObject: This view object will hold the reference of the underlying entity. These view object can hold data from single or multiple entities. While defining Viewobject based on Entity you can select the attribute which you want to keep in the entity. SQL Based ViewObject: These view objects are based on SQL quarries. This view object will have an underlying SQL Query. At runtime, they will hold data return by SQL. Programmatic View Object: User can define the view attribute which defining view object. Data will insert programmatically into these ViewObject. Static ViewObject: While defining user will define an attribute for view and in later he has to provide the values for those attribute. This kind of view object will have fixed no of rows. 20. What are Control Hints in Entity Object configuration? Control hints are associated with the current view or entity attribute. All view objects inherit the hint values at run time. Control hints for data controls and bindings, including Labels, Date & currency formatting. 21. Can an entity object be based on two Database Objects(tables/views) or two Webservices? No, Directly it's not possible to create EO using multiple tables. Entity objects will always have one to one relationship with a database object or web service. But using views you can create Entity Objects on multiple tables. 22. What is the return type of Service Methods? Service Methods can return Scalar or Primitive Datatypes. 23. How do you decide whether the application should be deployed as an EAR or a WAR? If the application contains run-time customizations using MDS, it must be bundled as an EAR. For simple WebCenter portal application with no such customizations, WAR can be created. 24. Explain Data binding & its types, sub-types? Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF) provides several types of binding objects to support the attributes and operations exposed by the Oracle ADF data controls for a particular business object: ITERATOR BINDING , one per accessor attribute that your page or panel displays. Iterates over the business objects of the data collection and maintain the row currency and state. VALUE BINDINGS, one for each data-bound UI component. Provides access to data. ACTION BINDING , specifically defined for a button component. Provides access to operations defined by the business object. Value Binding Types: Attribute Value Binding Boolean Value Binding List Value Binding Range Value Binding Scroll Value Binding 25. What is Association in ADF? Association represents the relationship between 2 and more tables like a foreign key relationship. If you create Entities from the database association will automatically get created for the entity. User can also define custom association if there is no foreign-key is defined in the database. In this way, the user can handle foreign key in ADF application and can remove overhead from the database. 26. What is the view link? ViewLink represents the relationship between data of the same or multiple Entities or table. It works in the same manner as association work for the entity. While defining the ViewLink user can define the reference of the already created association if view object based on Entity Object else can manually select the column and define the link between 2 ViewObject. 27. Why we used an application module in the ADF framework? Application module is the component of ADF BC which hold the references of ViewObject and instantiate them while running the application. view object reference defines in Application Module can be used to define the JSF/JSP page. If you want to use any ViewObject on your page you must have to provide the reference in Application Module 28. What Is The Difference Between Visible Property And Render Property? The visible property is set to true/false based on the requirement whether we want to see the field on the page or not at run time. The field or component still exists on the page, though hidden. The render property is used to conditionally load the component based on a criteria. 29. How Do You Define Pagination In Adf? We define custom pagination in ADF by creating a custom table as a taskflow using the af:iterator tag. This renders the collection of data just as a table renders it. Now we bind the value property of iterator to collection model from ADF bindings declaration and set the number of visible row to, say 15. 30. Can Service Methods return type Void? Yes, Service Methods can Return type Void 31. Can Service Methods return Complex Datatypes? No, service methods can return only primitive/scalar data types. 32. What Is The Difference Between Databindings.cpx And Datacontrol.dcx? The DataBindings.cpx file contains the Oracle ADF binding context for your entire application and provides the metadata from which the Oracle ADF binding objects are created at runtime. The DataControls.dcx file is created when you register data controls on the business services. This file is not generated for Oracle ADF Business Components. It identifies the Oracle ADF model layer data control classes(factory classes) that facilitate the interaction between the client and the available business service. 33. What do you mean by Bean Scope? Bean Scope typically holds beans and other objects that need to be available in the different components of a web application. 34. SOAP Web service invocation from ADF: there are 2 options: Web service data control Web service proxy Data control : Right click on any project --> New --> Web Services --> Web service data control We need to give wsdl url and next, next ....finish... It will create web service data control almost similar to our Application module data control we can drag n drop the methods and objects on to the page. Proxy : Right click on View Controller --> New --> Web services --> Web services Proxy We need to give wsdl url and next, next ...finis... It will create java classes to invoke the web service. We will generally use that logic to invoke in button action listener or in some managed bean methods 35. What is a region in Oracle ADF? An ADF dynamic region is an ADF region where the task flow binding dynamically. Determines the value of its taskFlowId attribute at runtime. This allows the Fusion. web application to determine which bounded task flow to execute within the ADF 36. How to skip validation in ADF? Add immediate="true" to the button. This way all input fields which don't have immediate="true" will be skipped in processing. This method mainly used for view layer validation skip. 37. What Are Validators And Converters In Adf? validators : If somehow you need to create your own validation logic to meet your business needs. You can either create a validation method on the page’s backing bean (if you want custom validation for a component on a single page) or create JSF validator classes (if you want to reuse the validation logic by various pages in the application). In the real world, of course, creating the custom JSF validator classes would be adopted for ADF application for better reuse and maintenance. converters : converters are used for converting the values from one type to another, like decimal to bigdecimal or from string to date or date to string. 38. How to make any field mandatory? Add attribute required="true" to that specific field. 39. What are the various access scopes supported by ADF? ADF Faces supports the following scopes Application Scope Session Scope PageFlow Scope Request Scope BackingBean Scope. 40. How to pass ''af:selectOneChoice'' value to other page? Add valuePassThru="true" attribute to select list. 41. What are the types of ADF Faces components? ADF Faces components: Data components Input components Layout components Navigational components Output components 42. What is PPR and how do you enable Partial Page Rendering(PPR)? PPR is a feature supported by ADF Faces, using which we can render a small portion of an HTML Page, without refreshing the complete page. It is enabled by.- Setting AutoSubmit property to true on the triggering element. - Setting the PartialTriggers property of the target component to refer to the component id of the triggering element. 43. Explain Role Of Javascript In Adf? ADF Component allows JavaScript function to listen for ADF Faces component events, like select or disclosure events, and browser DOM events like focus, mouse hover, mouse click or keyboard events. The component has its client Component property set to true. 44. What is the association in ADF? Oracle ADF associations are business components that defines a relationship between two Oracle ADF entity object definitions (the "source" and "destination" entity objects) based on sets of entity attributes (the "source" and "destination" attributes) from each. 45. What are the different types/categories of Taskflows? Taskflows are of two categories : Bounded and UnBounded. 46. When we drag drop VO from DataControl which binding occurs? Value binding occurs. 47. What is a Taskflow? Taskflow is the controller of an ADF application, it provides us a declarative approach to define the control flow. It is used to define the navigation between pages and various task flow activities. 48. What is the difference between Bounded and UnBounded task flows? Differences between Bounded and UnBounded taskflows : Bounded taskflows can be secured but Unbounded can’t. Bounded taskflows can accept the parameter and return values but unbounded taskflows don’t support parameters Bounded taskflows has a single entry point or a default activity but unbounded taskflows have multiple entry points. Bounded taskflows can be called from other bounded/unbounded taskflows but unbounded cannot be called or reused. Bounded taskflows support transactions unbounded don’t 49. What Is Policy Store And Identity Store In Oid? Identity Store is used to store information about users and groups while the Policy Store is used to store information about security policies. 50. What are the Data Control scopes available in ADF? Isolate/Shared Shared : Data Control instances will be shared across the task flows Isolated: New set of data control instances will be created 51. Can bounded task flow runs on the browser? NO 52. Explain the purpose of using Controls flow in ADF? Controls flow for Navigation from one activity to other activity with in the Task flow. 53. What is the behavior of the router in ADF task flow? Based on some condition router can decide which route need to be followed. If none of the condition match in that case router will follow the default route defined by use. 54. How can navigation define in task flow? Navigation can be defined in task flow using control flows and invoked by jsff/jspx page using action event like button link etc. 55. Can ADF task flow hold more than 1 view activity? Yes. ADF task flow can have multiple view activity but 1 activity has to be defined as the default activity. 56. What is the Parent Action in ADF Taskflow? Parent action is activity using that you can invoke the Control flow define in parent task flow from child task flow. 57. What is the method activity in Adf Taskflow? Using this activity you can invoke any method defined in manage-bean. 58. How to initialize ADF Taskflow? Open the task flow in Overview Mode select general like there is initializer property. you can provide any method reference which will get invoked whenever task flow instance created. 59. What is Managed Bean? Managed bean is a java class, which is initialized by the JSF framework. It is primarily used to hold view and controller logic. It is also used to execute Java code to be executed on a user action like Button Click. 60. What is Backing Bean? Backing beans are those managed beans which have 1:1 mapping with a page. They have getters and setters for all the components in the related page. 61. What is the difference between managed and backing beans? Backing bean has 1:1 relation with page whereas managed beans can be used in multiple pages. Backing beans scope is limited to the page whereas managed beans can have other scopes too. 62. What is a different kind of resource bundle supported in ADF? ADF supports different types of resource bundle which are as follows: Property file based (text file which contains key-value pair) xliff file based (XML file which contains key-value pair) List Resource bundle 63) What is the difference between jspx and jsff? jspx and jsff file are the same in most of the manner. The only difference is that you can run jspx directly on the browser while jsff file container which will run on the browser. 64. Following three main component attributes are used to enable partial page rendering: autoSubmit: When the autoSubmit attribute of input or select component is set to true, and appropriate action takes place (such as a value change), the component automatically submits the form it is enclosed in. partialSubmit: When the partialSubmit attribute of a command component is set to true, clicking the button or link causes the page to be partially submitted. partialTriggers: All rendered components support the partialTriggers attribute. Use this attribute to list the IDs of components whose change events are to trigger this component to be refreshed. 65. ADF View Criteria View Object in ADF is representing a table database object supports Select query against the table. View Criteria is adding ‘Where clause’ to the View Objects but Unlike SQL query View Object support multiple View Criteria. The purpose of allowing multiple ADF view criteria is you can choose the ADF View Criteria you want on your pages. For example, I have an employee table has a column ‘type; with value ‘manager’ and ‘director’. I want to display the list of managers in one page and list of directors on another page. For this, I simply create two View Criteria, One for employee and another for director and use employee VC for employee page and manager VC for manager page. 66. What are the different types of bindings in ADF? ADF contains the following types of bindings: Method Bindings: This binding is used when you want to use custom methods to be executed. Attribute Bindings: This is the binding to retrieve the value of a single view attribute in the iterator binding’s current view row. For eg; #{bindings.CustomerId.InputValue} Tree Bindings: This is used for tables, tree-tables, and trees. It is used to expose rows of a table in the iterator binding’s current range. Eg; All Customers-#{bindings.AllCustomers.labels.CustomerId} Action Bindings: This binding type is used when buttons or command links are dropped on the user interface and require an action to be performed on them. We can use data control operations on them, for eg, Create, Delete, First, Last, Commit, Rollback, etc. Iterator Binding : This binding is created by the application to access the ADF binding context. It contains a reference to the page bound data collection, helps access it and iterates over its data objects. 67. Memory Scope for ADF Managed Beans Application Scope: The application scope lasts until the application stops. Values that you store in a managed bean with this scope is available to every session and every request that uses the application. Avoid using this scope in a task flow because it persists beyond the life span of the task flow. Session Scope: The session scope begins when a user first accesses a page in the application and ends when the user's session times out due to inactivity, or when the application invalidates the session. Use this scope only for information that is relevant to the whole session, such as user or context information. Avoid using it to pass values from one task flow to another. Instead, use parameters to pass values between task flows. Using parameters gives your task flow a clear contract with other task flows that call it or are called by it. Another reason to avoid the use of session scope is that it may persist beyond the the life span of the task flow. Page Flow Scope : Choose this scope if you want the managed bean to be accessible across the activities within a task flow. A managed bean that has a pageFlow scope shares state with pages from the task flow that access it. A managed bean that has a pageFlow scope exists for the life span of the task flow.If another task flow's page references the managed bean, the managed bean creates a separate instance of this object and adds it to the pageFlow scope of its task flow. View Scope : Use this scope for managed bean objects that are needed only within the current view activity and not across view activities. It defines the scope for each viewport that ADF Controller manages, for example, a root browser window or an ADF region. The life span of this scope begins and ends when the current viewId of viewport changes. If you specify a view, the application retains managed bean objects used on a page as long as the user continues to interact with the page. These objects are automatically released when the user leaves the page. Request Scope : Use request scope when the managed bean does not need to persist longer than the current request. Backing Bean Scope : A backing bean is a convention to describe a managed bean that stores accessors for UI components and event handling code on a JSF page. It exists for the duration of a request and should not be used to maintain state. Use this scope if it is possible that your task flow appears in two ADF regions on the same JSF page and you want to isolate each instance of ADF region. 68. Can we change DB connection for any particular AM? YES, follow steps to change DB connection: Double click on AM. GO to the configuration tab, click on configuration file bc4j.xml Here we have attribute JDBCName under element AppModuleConfig, change the connection which is created for other DB. 69. What is the difference between setting an immediate=true on a button and immediate=true on a text field? When immediate is true on a button, the command’s action and ActionListeners, including the default ActionListener provided by the JavaServer Faces implementation will be executed during the Apply Request Values phase of the request processing lifecycle, rather than waiting until the Invoke Application phase. In case of a text field, by default, values are converted and validated together in the Process Validators phase. However, if you need access to the value of a component during Apply Request Values – for example, if you need to get the value from an actionListener on an immediate commandButton – then setting this to “immediate” makes that possible. 70. How can one bounded task flow can call another? One task flow can call another bounded task flow using a task flow call activity or a URL. 71. Task Flow Activities: Method Call: Invokes a method, typically a method on a managed bean. A method call activity can be placed anywhere within an application’s control flow to invoke application logic based on control flow rules. Parent Action: Allows a bounded task flow to generate outcomes that are passed to its parent view activity. Router: Evaluates an EL expression and returns an outcome based on the value of the expression. For example, a router in a credit check task flow might evaluate the return value from a previous method call and generate success, failure, or retry outcomes based on various cases. These outcomes can then be used to route control to other activities in the task flow. Save Point Restore: Restores a previous persistent save point, including application state and data, in an application supporting save for later functionality. Task Flow Call: Calls abounded task flow from an unbounded task flow or another bounded task flow. Task Flow Return: Identifies when a bounded task flow completes and sends control flow back to the caller. (Available for bounded task flows only). View: Displays a JSF page or page fragment. Multiple view activities can represent the same page or same page fragment. Control Flow Case : Identifies how control passes from one activity to the next in the application. Wildcard Control Flow Rule: Represents a control flow case that can originate from any activities whose IDs match a wildcard expression. 72. What is the difference between Trinidad.config and Trinidad.skins? Trinidad.config file is created when you create a WebCenter Portal application. This is used to register the skin-family you are going to use for your entire application. Trinidad.skins are used when we use the skin as a jar file. This file provides a mapping between the skin id and the actual path where the skin exists. 73. JMS Integration with ADF: in the web logic console, we need to create JMS Server, JMS Queue. In the application, we need to create MessageDrivenBean implements MessageListener mapping the same jndi name of JMS Queue. We need to override onMessage() method. Whenever we recieve some message into the JMS queue, this onMessage() will be invoked with the Message as parameter. 74. Exception Handling : We need to extend DCErrorHandlerImpl class and override reportException() method. We need to register that class in the DataBindings.cpx file. When any exception is thrown in the ADF application, it will come to this metChod. 75. Contextual Event in ADF: Contextual Event is way to communicate between two taskflows. Sometimes we have taskflow to open in a region and have to get some values from task flow. Contextual Events have two parts : Publisher Event (Producer) : As button or any component that can raise event Handler Event (Customer) : That listines and process event published by the producer Oracle ADF Questions and Answers Pdf Download Read the full article

Yuri on Ice interview translation - PASH! 2017/05 (p24-25)
I am pleased to bring you the very first interview with director Sayo Yamamoto!!! You don’t know how much I’ve been waiting for this... This one is pretty general because of course she has never been interviewed before so they are asking her the basics, but it’s very interesting to finally hear things from her perspective too, since she’s the one who started it all. More interviews with her will be appearing in other magazines in the near future, I’m looking forward to those ones too.
Also, I believe a bright future is to be expected for Yuri on Ice, since she seems to have lots of plans...!! (I was shivering typing out the translation, lol)
Translation is under the cut.
***If you wish to share this translation please do it by reblogging or posting a link to it***
***Re-translating into other languages is ok but please mention that this post is the source***
Interview (first appearance in media!) The world of “Yuri on Ice” that director Yamamoto wanted to create With 8 notebooks full of notes in one hand, director Sayo Yamamoto has answered our interview for the first time. We have asked her how this new animation that no one had ever seen before was born.
I was convinced that this would become an animation work no one has seen before.
I want to turn figure skating into animation!!!
—First of all, could you tell us why you decided to create an anime about figure skating?
I’ve always liked figure skating. In the beginning I was a light fan who only watched it on TV, but little by little I started dedicating an extraordinary amount of time to it. When drawing action scenes in a storyboard I began to add figure skating elements, like “if I put a movement similar to the flying camel spin here it might be interesting” (LOL). Around the time I created “LUPIN the Third -Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna-“ (2012) I couldn’t hold back those feelings anymore, and I considered the possibility of creating an anime about figure skating to broadcast at the same time as the Sochi Olympics. However, since most people said that “figure skating requires a lot of animation frames and it would be very difficult to animate for a TV series”, I couldn’t find anyone who agreed to work on the project and two years passed. In the meantime I tried to incorporate figure skating into various works, like the OP of “Persona 5”, but I still strongly felt that I wanted to create an anime all about it. At the time of the Sochi Olympics I met a producer who was looking for a project, and when, without any expectation, I tried to propose my idea, maybe because of the Olympic mood (LOL), they told me that it sounded interesting. —Could you tell us how you decided to invite Mitsurou Kubo to join the staff?
First of all, when I came up with the idea of “a figure skater in a difficult situation and the athlete he admires, who is also his rival, becoming his coach”, I thought that Kubo-san would be able to draw it in a fascinating way. In the movie “Moteki*” (2011) she worked on the scenario in the form of a manga storyboard, and above all, I was a listener of her radio “All Night Nippon**”. I just had the feeling that with her I would be able to create an interesting story. [*translator’s note: The movie “Moteki” is based on the manga by Mitsurou Kubo] [**translator’s note: The exact name of the program is “Kubo Mitsurou, Noumachi Mineko no All Night Nippon”, it aired for almost 2 years between 2012-2014 and then for about 5 months in 2015] —What was it about her that attracted you?
I was often impressed by what she said. What I look for in an anime script is how many dialogues with a punch line you are able to insert. I can think about the outline of a story by myself, but I wanted to create it with someone who would be able to add punchy and impressive dialogues that would actually make the characters come alive. Kubo-san has done manga serializations for shounen manga magazines for a long time and also has experience drawing works created by other authors, therefore I thought that discussing together we could be able to create a powerful work. However, she was never involved in the creation of an anime, and I did understand that it would be challenging. The producer told me “wouldn’t it be better to add one more scriptwriter?”, but when I asked whether there was another person who was as passionate about figure skating as me I was told “there isn’t” (LOL). Since there was no other choice, I decided to study scriptwriting and create the series composition myself. Just at that time Kubo-san’s ongoing serialization ended, so I decided to ask her. We are also adjusting the animation based on the acting.
—How did production of the series advance, approximately?
I first came up with an outline of the full series, and talking with Kubo-san about that we decided the details and she drew the manga storyboard for episodes 1-5. But from episode 6 onwards it was like a venture into an unknown world (LOL). In the GP (Grand Prix) series I at least wanted to have 6 athletes compete in every episode. An anime episode is 20 min. 10 sec., and an actual SP (short program) is 2 min. 50 sec. When I ordered the music I had it shortened to about 2 minutes, but in the programs I wanted to incorporate all figure skating elements, so I asked the choreographer (Kenji) Miyamoto-sensei to adjust the time with transition parts and spins. However, since we still needed to make it shorter, when I created the composition first of all I calculated the exact time a character would skate, the exact time the following character would start skating and so on… all of it also considering flubbed jumps and such. Then we discussed the story more in detail and decided the elements and scenes we absolutely wanted to insert and the position of lines. Even so, when I translated this into the anime storyboard it was still too long, and editing required an exorbitant amount of time. The person who was in charge of it, Tomoki Nagasaka, is an outstanding editor who also has experience working in live action movies, so he managed to work it out somehow, but we really spent a huge amount of time on that every week. —Why did you decide to use original songs for the performances?
I thought that if we used existing songs people would already have their own impression of them based on real athletes who skated to them before, so they might end up comparing them to reality and not be able to enjoy them fully. We’re creating an original anime, it would be a pity if something like that happened and added pressure, wouldn’t it? I believed it would make more sense, as an anime, to create programs that no one has ever seen before, with songs that no one has ever heard before. —Could you tell us what you talked about with sound director Shimizu at the time of recording?
I have already worked with Shimizu-san in “LUPIN”, he’s very passionate about acting. He has the ability to organize actors, he read the story of “Yuri on Ice” enthusiastically and understood it fully, and on top of that he can even come up with things that I couldn’t think of, so I was sure I could entrust him with the job. While checking the acting, when I felt something wasn’t right most of the times Shimizu-san felt the same, therefore I trusted his judgement. “Yuri on Ice” has comical deformed parts too, but when we chose the cast we were careful to select voice actors who could act naturally. All of them were very skilled, so their acting was never drastically different from what I imagined. —Was there anything that impressed you during recording?
The voice actors always performed even better than we expected, so it happened that we changed the animation based on the acting. They were all subtle things, but that’s actually difficult. Anyone can easily be affected by a powerful line, so when a character says it you already get an impression of them, but a fine performance is what makes the difference and makes you feel that the character is really there, not just “a character inside an anime”. As long as I can I want to continue “Yuri on Ice”.
—What scenes impressed you in the anime?
What made me realize that this anime would become something amazing is Victor’s skating scene in episode 1. When we were editing this part, I was convinced that this would become an animation work no one has seen before. Of course I was confident even before that, but when I saw it turn into an actual 20 min. 10 sec. film I fully realized that we were creating something new. It’s not something I normally do, but at that time I told the producer “this anime is going to be amazing, it will definitely be successful!”. Usually, even if I think so myself, I don’t say it until the series is completed. However, their reaction was very weak, like “the schedule is already crazy, what are you saying?”… (LOL). Especially when it’s an original work, it happens often that the director is the only person who can see the whole picture. Also, if other people tell you right away “I know!”, “that’s nice!”, most of the times it means that it’s something they have already seen somewhere. That’s why on the contrary, when I got a weak response it made me confident that I was creating something new, something no one has ever imagined before. —Could you tell us about the ED?
For the ED song I ordered something that “could be played as the final song of an ice show or during the 6 minute warm-up”. Regarding the footage, first of all I reckoned it would be too much work to use skating scenes, therefore I thought we could use still pictures that had an impact and that could not fit in the actual anime. Many figure skaters use the SNS, so I thought it would be interesting to use that as a concept. For example, when we went location hunting in Karatsu I wanted to use the shower place we saw there, but since after all we couldn’t fit it in the anime, I asked to use it in the ED. In Almaty, the place where Otabek is, the subway is very deep, almost like a shelter. All the pictures were chosen based on the idea “a skater from this country could do this in this place”. (Yuuichirou) Hayashi-san took all these scattered ideas and organized them neatly. —I was a bit surprised to know that Otabek uses the SNS too.
He definitely does. Many foreign skaters have an account. For them it’s normal to show what they are doing. Otabek too is making full use of lots of SNS. I think that for skaters who have their base outside of their home country and travel the world SNS are also a way to keep connected to their friends and families. —The fireworks scene in the ED is also impressive.
That was Hayashi-san’s idea. The three of them weren’t actually together in Hasetsu in summer, so that scene is not something that happened at a certain time, it’s more like an imaginary world. Hayashi-san has good observation skills and the pictures he creates are always very convincing. He has the power to make you think that this might have actually happened. “This character might be doing this” is something that anyone could come up with, but Hayashi-san is able to show you one step ahead of that. —Could you tell us about the reading play that is going to be performed at the April 29 event?
Kubo-san and I conceived the basic ideas, and I was able to order the script from Kimiko Ueno-san, who among the people I know is the one who can write the craziest stories. I worked with Ueno-san in “Space Dandy” (2014) and I heard that she enjoyed “Yuri on Ice” until the end. I think it will be pretty crazy (LOL). —What about the future of the anime?
I’m being told “let’s continue as soon as possible” (LOL). I’ve already decided what to do next. I came up with it while doing the video editing for episode 10, but what I’m thinking is something grand, and I’m wondering, what will happen if I really do all of that…? At this moment, my intention is to continue “Yuri on Ice” as long as I can. —Could you let us know some information about the next releases?
The bonus footage of the last volume and Kubo-san’s manga that is going to be distributed as bonus for purchasing all the volumes are both awesome. The details will be announced soon, but I believe fans of Yurio and Otabek are going to be especially pleased. It will also include recording footage of Stéphane Lambiel’s appearance in the last episode! It’s precious footage that I took with my iPad during recording. Also, (character designer & chief animation director Tadashi) Hiramatsu-san and (animation director Noriko) Itou-san are doing their best fixing the animation, they’re having an immense amount of pictures redrawn. There are no ugly Victors in the BD/DVDs. In general, everything is being brushed up. It’s possible that the relationships between the characters too might look different in some instances. Therefore, if you are unsure about buying the volumes, I would recommend that you do. Thank you very much!
By the way, since she talked a lot about the ending footage, I’ll link you the interview with Yuuichirou Hayashi that I translated from Animage some time ago, as he talks more in detail about how it was created. You can find it here.

How to Use Digital Marketing to Grow your Healthcare Practice
As a healthcare practice, it is really important to stay top of mind with your current patients and also future patients. By using digital marketing there are so many ways to stay connected.
One question we get asked a lot is:
“How do we increase our engagement and promote our practice with digital marketing?”
Well, that answer is a little tricky since there are many different options out there. It’s more of a combination of different tools to make your digital marketing work for you. In the digital marketing world, it is about trial and error, seeing what your audience responds to the most and how to start those conversations.
In this blog, I am going to talk about 5 ways to help increase your engagement and promote your practice.
Word of mouth and referral marketing are still the best ways to grow your practice, but with people being able to access information from SO many places we have to be a little more creative and think outside the box to build those relationships and loyalty.
Once they have come into your practice you want to make sure you stay top of mind, more importantly, you want to make sure you have good online profiles so it is easy for your audience to refer you.
How many of you have wanted to try something new with digital marketing but just don’t know where to start or what to try?
Social media marketing is one of the most popular ways to get in front of your current audience and potential new patients.
You can do this organically or implement paid ads as well. This is not an overnight success, it does take time, but it does work!
Let’s talk about the 5 Ways to Help Increase Your Engagement and Promote Your Practice:
1. Instagram
We have been talking about Instagram a lot this year and we will continue to do so, it is one of the fastest growing social media platforms with the average age 35-65-year-olds. Instagram is all about the visuals, from building a strong brand presence on your feed, having font styles on your images, color scheme, image theme, etc. this makes your feed look clean and interesting. Let’s dive into how to master Instagram Stories
This biggest thing with Instagram right now is the Instagram Stories, these stories only stay up for 24-hours, so this is a great place for:
Behind the scenes
An employee of the week
Tips
Myths
Polls
Questions
National Observance Days
Events
One really cool thing you can do with these stories is “Highlight” them, this saves them into an area about your feed pictures, you can categorize them so all your stories go to the correct boards. This turns into a great resource for your audience, each video on Instagram Stories can be 15 seconds long, you can record a 45sec to a 1 min long video and then use this app called CutStory and it automatically cuts your video into 15-second increments for you to share.
You can also create branded Instagram stories images with Canva, they have different themes you can choose from, you can use your own font styles, brand colors, logo, and images.
Now, you may be thinking what if I do a video that is more than 1-minute long, where should I put that? Well, don’t worry, Instagram has you covered and that is where IGTV comes into play. This is similar to YouTube but it allows your audience to watch the full video on Instagram, they don’t have to leave the platform.
A few ideas to create IGTV videos around are:
New mother tips
Birthing Plan
Vaccines
Physical Therapy
Counseling Tips
National Observance Days
Surgery Tips
New medical practices
Interviews with nurses and doctors
Instagram has a lot of bells and whistles you are able to tap into and really grow a long-lasting relationship with your audience.
2. Video Marketing
It’s 2019 and it’s all about the videos! Video marketing is huge and will continue to grow. Videos are great because it allows your audience to connect with you quicker. We wrote a blog a few months ago about “How to Create a Strong Video Marketing Strategy” videos are something you either love or hate.
Videos can be educational for your audience, videos with closed captions are even better. Here are a few good stats about video:
Let’s dive into the statistics behind healthcare marketing with video:
About 46% of people say they’d be more likely to seek out information about a product or service after seeing it in an online video. (Source: Eloqua)
Video is now the sixth most popular content marketing tactic, as 70% of B2B marketers use some form of online video with their overall strategies. (Source: Eloqua)
Of the 80% of internet users who watched a video ad, 46% took some sort of action after viewing the ad. (Source: Video Brewery)
The average user spends 88% more time on a website with video. (Source: Mist Media)
Video and e-mail marketing can increase click-through rates by more than 90%.(Source: Mist Media)
Video equals higher viewer retention. The information retained in one minute of online video is equal to about 1.8 million written words. (Source: Brainshark)
Video attracts two to three times as many monthly visitors, doubles their time spent on the site and has a 157% increase in organic traffic from search engines. (Source: MarketingSherpa)
Blog posts incorporating video attract three times as many inbound links as blog posts without video. (Source: SEOmoz)
59% of senior executives prefer video over text. (Source: Brainshark)
Having a video on the landing page of your site makes it 53% more likely to show up on page 1 of Google. (Source: Mist Media)
Source Here
When you think of video marketing, most people think you have to have a studio, pay a professional, take a lot of time on editing, props, backgrounds, and more. In all honesty with the technology of the newer smartphones and HD cameras, you can really shoot your own videos in office. Actually, the more authentic videos are the ones that get the most engagement online.
A couple of things to remember when shooting a video from your smartphones when you are recording a video for Instagram be sure to have your phone vertical, and when shooting a video for YouTube, Blogs, or Facebook you will want your phone horizontal.
Let’s start recording! Be Authentic, real, give value, and have fun!
3. Facebook Groups
Facebook groups are climbing higher on the list for digital marketing, gone are the days where just having a Facebook page worked, Facebook pages work great if you plan on spending money on ads.
There are a ton of Facebook groups out there that your practice can join, you can even start your own group.
For example – Let’s say you are a women’s medical office, Your services include OB-GYN, birthing center, primary care, pediatrician, etc. But, one special thing that your office focuses on is wanting to help new mothers with education. Vaccines, breastfeeding, car seats, home care, feeding, etc. Most of your patients come from within a 25-mile radius of your office, you can create a group on Facebook called “Tips for New Mothers YOUR CITY” in this group you can invite your current patients to join, post daily, as your group continues to grow you will post two or three times a day. You are creating a community of women that are going through the same thing and want answers. You can allow the members of the group to post questions and concerns for your practice to answer. This is a wonderful way to create trust with your patients. You can then start to mention the other services your practice offers.
In this video below, I will show you how to start a group from scratch and also how to search for groups to join.
4. Email Marketing
Email marketing is NOT dead, I know some may think that email marketing and newsletters are a waste of time, but they actually work great. It is a convenient way to stay top of mind with your patients. With social media marketing and the algorithms it’s hard to really know who has seen your organic posts, then to monitor the engagement. Now, the insights and analytics on the social media platforms tell you how many likes, comments, and shares you had on posts. With email marketing, you can actually see who opened your emails, who read them, and who clicked through to your website.
There are a few ways to incorporate email marketing into your plan:
Content Upgrades, also known as Free downloads. This is a piece of content you put together for your ideal patient to download, in order for them to download it they have to submit their name and email. For example – if we go back to the example in number 3, you could create:
Newborn checklist
Going home checklist
Breastfeeding Tips
New Momma Myths
Top 10 products to have at home for your new baby
etc.
This pdf would then be uploaded to your website and linked into MailChimp or Leadpages to create a landing page with the form for name and email, you can then push this out to social media, your current email list of current patients. Over time you will create quite a few content upgrades. Make a list of different checklists, ebooks, resources you can create for your patients now and then you push that out to gain new email subscriptions to grow your email list. This is an example of what a sign-up form looks like:
Newsletters – You can send weekly or monthly newsletters to your lists, in some cases you may have multiple lists and can customize a newsletter for each list based on your audience. It is important to understand what your audience wants to know about so you can pack your newsletters with valuable content. It doesn’t matter if you do weekly updates or monthly, what matters most is consistency. Whatever you choose to do be sure to stick with it. You can also incorporate your videos into these emails, this allows you to build those deeper relationships!
5. Blogging
Blogging serves dual purposes, it is great for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and it allows you to show your expertise. When you are promoting your practice on social media your end goal is to get them back to your website to sign-up for your email list, book an appointment, or fill out paperwork, how do you give them an incentive to go back to your website?
When blogging just like everything else we have spoken about it is all about consistency. One blog per month or two, as long as you do one each month, these are no longer 300-500 word blogs, these are cornerstone blogs which means 1500+ words per blog. We recently wrote a blog on how to share your blog, in that post there is a FREE download, a blog checklist, you can download it here.
Your blogs should cover content that your audience wants to learn about, whether this is myths around vaccines, childbirth, new momma tips, etc.
This is where you tie the above 1-4 items into your blogging. In each blog post you will be:
Making an image you can share onto Instagram
Make a “teaser” video for Instagram with 3 inside tips from your blog
Create a longer video for IGTV about your blog
Create videos to go inside your blog post – you will place these videos on YouTube then insert them into your blog posts
You can also create a content upgrade or call to action for your readers to sign-up for your email list. Here is an example of a great blog post
Your website/blog is your hub, you want to drive traffic to your hub. Once your blog is complete you can then share it to multiple platforms with links back to your site, this helps reach new potential patients as well.
As you can see through these 5 different marketing platforms, they each allow you to grow your practice and connect with your audience on a deeper level. They all work based on consistency and planning. This is why having a digital marketing plan is so important.

The Caps Lost and You Want to Cry Remedy Masterpost
EDIT: Hi there! I managed to get this post functioning again, but I have an updated list! I tried to update this post but tumblr’s a dick and won’t let me have as many links as I want on a post. So, to see the updated list, go to my blog, and click on the tabs on top that say “Caps Masterpost Pt. 1″ and “Caps Masterpost Pt. 2″ (I had to do it in 2 parts because, again, tumblr won’t let me have pages with that many links). Enjoy! I promise there’s a lot more to like in the updates!
So the Caps just lost and you feel ready to cry. What can you do to help remedy that feeling of despair? I present to you my magnum opus, a masterpost of happy and funny Caps videos and posts to make you feel better and forget about any bad hockey you just watched. In this post is everything you could ever want to watch related to the Caps. Of course, I don’t have everything, I’m not nearly as extensive as RMNB, and there’s a lack of actual hockey highlights (as the point of this post is to highlight off-ice hilarity). So sit back, pick what you want to watch, and enjoy.

TGIWednesday and remaining positive in a troubled world
TGIWednesday News
Most of us impose on others how we would feel and what we would do if we were them. My mother will be 91 on Christmas Day and our caregiver and I might want her to watch this, or do that - and she just looks at us like, “uh no.” We all super-impose our beliefs, thoughts, feelings, knowing and emotions onto others as to how WE would handle their situation. But keep in mind, we’re not in their situation and we're all on our own unique journey. We haven’t lived their lives regardless of what we think they should do or how they should react, they still have their own positionality and free will. By working on and fishing on yourself, and then also doing that for others - it can make all the difference in the world.

~ REMAINING POSITIVE IN A TROUBLED WORLD ~ (Press play to watch and listen as I fish this for you)
It is safe and comfortable for me to remain positive and steadfast in my hopes, wishes, and dreams. I believe, think, know and feel that spirit will favor me now, and in the end and will reveal a more positive outcome. I am ready, willing and able to be more positive and see the best of life here and now and show others the way too. I know, when, where, how and why to keep a 'steady as she goes' attitude, staying simple, positive, easy and fun. I am asking in all languages and throughout all lifetimes and so it is now.
From the Fish Box
"Thanks Jimmy! That was an amazing session. And I am a VERY discerning consumer who often returns packages, ends sessions by saying "Ho-hum...Next!", and rarely resonates with much of anything. But you gave specific suggestions, were very matter-of-fact and not at all overbearing, clearly identified my energy signature, and allowed me to feel your corrections as they were happening. Most importantly, the session gave me hope - I know I'm in a "Groundhog Day" situation and you picked up that energy right away. I look forward to working with you more. I appreciate your suggestions and hope to learn your method." - Dirk H.

Greta Thunberg addresses UN Climate Action Summit through tears
Days after millions of young people took to the streets around the globe to protest for more aggressive action on climate change, dozens of world leaders arrived Monday at the United Nations facing a simple question: What’s your plan?
Monday’s UN climate summit was billed as an opportunity for nations to make high-profile commitments to do more.
But it also laid bare the growing tensions between a burgeoning activist movement and global leaders, many of whom acknowledge the seriousness of climate change but have yet to commit to the kind of transformational changes that scientists say are needed to avert its worst effects in coming decades.
“You are failing us,” teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg told heads of state as she spoke onstage, her face flushed with anger. “The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say, we will never forgive you.”

— Greta Thunberg (@GretaThunberg) September 23, 2019
UN Secretary General António Guterres had insisted that countries show up to the much-anticipated “climate action summit” not with lofty rhetoric but with concrete promises, such as vowing to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, cutting fossil fuel subsidies and ceasing construction of coal-fired power plants.
“Dear friends, there is a cost to everything. But the biggest cost is doing nothing,” Guterres told the gathering Monday morning.
“The biggest cost is subsidizing a dying fossil fuel industry, building more and more coal power plants, and denying what is plain as day: that we are in a deep climate hole, and to get out, we must first stop digging.”
A stream of promises
Promises flowed one after another throughout the day, in three-minute speech after three-minute speech, as leaders from France, Germany, India and other countries detailed plans to increase their use of renewable energy and curb fossil fuel burning linked to climate change.
Overall, at least 65 countries have indicated that they intend to strengthen the commitments they made under the 2015 Paris agreement by the end of next year.
“We cannot let our youth spend every Friday demonstrating for the climate and simply answer, ‘Everything is fine, we are doing everything right,'” said French President Emmanuel Macron. “We are still far from the account.”
As the day wore on, there was a growing sense that Monday’s summit would not by itself offer the jolt organizers had once hoped. Businesses and private investors announced ambitious climate plans; almost 300 multinational corporations with US$5.5 trillion in revenue pledged to continue to expand renewable energy and electric transportation around the world.
Numerous small nations already feeling the effects of climate change vowed their own aggressive targets. But the world’s largest emitters once again stopped short of committing to the sort of far-reaching new goals scientists say are needed to rein in emissions.
On Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi committed his nation to more than doubling its renewable energy capacity by 2030, though the growing country still relies heavily on coal-fired power generation.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel detailed a recently passed package of measures to invest billions in electric vehicles, ramp up renewable energy and phase out coal, though green groups have called the efforts too modest.
“Most of the major economies fell woefully short. Their lack of ambition stands in sharp contrast with the growing demand for action around the world,” Andrew Steer, head of the World Resources Institute, said in a statement. “We need far greater national leadership on climate action – and we need it now.”
Warnings from scientists
It remains unclear whether the world can ultimately muster the collective political will to make the kind of shift away from fossil fuels in transportation, energy and agriculture that scientists say is necessary to limit global warming. The planet has already warmed 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) above preindustrial levels.
In Paris in late 2015, leaders from 195 nations banded together in an unprecedented agreement to collectively cut carbon emissions and hold the world’s warming to “well below” 2 degrees C (3.6 degrees F). Four years later, the euphoria of that moment has faded into a sober realism about the scale of the challenge and the obstacles that exist.
Global carbon emissions hit a record in 2018. Many countries are failing to live up to the pledges they made in Paris – promises that leaders acknowledge were not ambitious enough to begin with – even as leaders have been asked to devise more ambitious plans by the end of 2020.
Scientists have continued to issue ever more dire warnings about melting permafrost, retreating glaciers, rising seas, more extreme weather, and the impacts such changes are having on societies.
In addition, the United States under President Trump has retreated from its role as a global leader on climate action. On Monday, Trump swept through the halls of the United Nations on his way to a meeting, as Thunberg looked on sternly, but he played no role in the proceedings.
Asked later in the day why he swung by the climate summit, Trump replied, “Because I believe in clean air and clean water, very simple. We have the cleanest air, we have the cleanest water.”
The Climate Action Tracker, a consortium of scientists that compares global climate pledges and policies to future temperature projections, issued an analysis last week that found if current policies remain in place, the world will warm at least 1.5 degrees Celsius by around 2035, 2 degrees by around 2053, and 3.2 degrees by the end of the century.
Even if national governments achieve the emissions cuts they have committed to, it noted, the average global temperature is likely to rise nearly 3 degrees Celsius by 2100.
“We need less fossil fuel infrastructure, not more”
Niklas Höhne, a German climatologist and founding partner of NewClimate Institute, which created the Climate Action Tracker, said in an interview that the announcements made Monday are unlikely to change the long-term projections for global temperature rise because many of those nations are not large carbon emitters.
“It has to be a large player, with a large amount of emissions, to change the temperature,” he said.
Höhne added that while the actions of many individual states and cities, as well as US companies, have kept overall US carbon emissions from changing course significantly under Trump, the administration’s promotion of natural gas exports to countries such as India could ultimately lead to higher emissions overseas.
During Modi’s recent visit to Houston, India’s state-owned Petronet LNG announced that it would invest in Tellurian Inc.’s liquefied natural gas project on the Gulf Coast.
“We need less fossil fuel infrastructure, not more,” Höhne said.
Some smaller, low-lying countries that are already wrestling with the impacts of climate change took the opportunity Monday to chide the world’s largest economies for not doing more to address climate change.
“My appeal is that powerful countries must chip in and take this seriously,” said Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, as he said his nation would try to plant 10 billion trees over the next five years.
In the private sector and elsewhere, high-profile figures announced this week they were taking steps to mobilize steeper cuts in carbon emissions.
At a conference hosted by the Climate Group, an international organization that promotes climate action, former secretary of state John F. Kerry announced a new initiative called “World War Zero” aimed at holding carbon polluters accountable. Kerry is hoping to enlist the help of Trump’s former defense secretary Jim Mattis, who said in a phone interview, “I’m considering it. I’ve not made the decision.”
Monday’s much-anticipated summit comes amid growing pressure on world leaders to act more aggressively – and swiftly – to combat climate change.
On Friday, in one of the largest youth-led demonstrations ever, millions of people across more than 150 countries and every continent took to the streets to protests for climate action.
At the United Nations on Monday, Thunberg and 15 other young people filed a legal complaint with the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, arguing that major countries have known about the risks of climate change for decades but have failed to take sufficient action.
“Right here, right now, is where we draw the line,” Thunberg said. “The world is waking up, and change is coming whether you like it or not.”
And in Washington, DC, protesters blocked 15 intersections downtown during the morning commute to draw attention to their cause. Police made 32 arrests after some chained themselves to sailboats, while another blocked the road with an 80-foot-long inflatable pipeline.
Guterres reminded world leaders Monday that the world’s current trajectory is unsustainable, and he reminded them of the very human stakes of failing to craft a more sustainable future.
“I will not be there, but my granddaughters will. And your grandchildren, too,” he said. “I refuse to be an accomplice in the destruction of their one and only home.”
He added, “It is my obligation – our obligation – to do everything to stop the climate crisis before it stops us. Time is running out. But it is not too late.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s pain: Tottenham manager opens up about Champions League final pain
With his Spanish team against relegation and apparent bad luck, Mauricio Pochettino stuck in a backpack and walked 12 km to Santa Maria de Montserrat, into the monastery the hills above Barcelona and home of the black Madonna statue.
Back in the Catalan capital this summer after Tottenham heartbreaking Champions League Final defeat against Liverpool in May, he turned to Jesus instead. Jesus Perez, his assistant manager.
& # 39; We talked every day to find out the reason, & # 39; says the Argentinian in his first full interview since that miserable loss with 2-0.
Mauricio Pochettino opened about how he struggled after the Champions League defeat
Harry Kane and Co fell short and the management team analyzed the game dead
& # 39; You always try to analyze, but ultimately k the analysis is different. It is the small details that make the difference. & # 39;
Perez helped heal the wounds, Liverpool supporters and the arrival of a new training package on Hotspur Way. Damaging a few golf balls didn't hurt either.
Almost two months have passed since the bubble burst. It still hurts. "Yes, it was difficult," says Pochettino, before he added he did not see the defeat coming after the miracles in Manchester and Amsterdam that Spurs had seen the great reach.
"The three weeks to prepare were incredible and then you are greatly disappointed in the way you lose, & # 39; Pochettino results. & # 39; Then you have to go home – I have the day then took a train from Madrid to Barcelona. & # 39;
He can now smile at the memory.
& # 39; I spent 10 days in my house and did not want to go out & # 39 ;, he explains. "It was so hard because we almost hit glory."
On the driving range, where you could imagine the balls taking quite a blow, the road to recovery was kickstarted.
& # 39; I tried to play golf after a few days – not to play, to swing & # 39 ;, Pochettino says. & # 39; I focused on my son to try the ball perfect to hit, but it was impossible. My family tried to lift me, but they were in the same situation as me, then I started to move on.
& # 39; The people who appreciated our work also helped. In Spain, English fans in restaurants in Madrid, including Ibiza, people from Liverpool, people from Tottenham, various football people said: & # 39; Fantastic Tottenham & # 39 ;. That started to build up happiness again because people recognized that our work was fantastic. & # 39;
Back in London, packages with new things from the kitroom completed the work. & # 39; When you start a season, new kit, new everything, & # 39; Pochettino adds. It's good because it's changing. Now everything is new; new colors and, of course, new motivation. & # 39;
Pochettino moped around the house for more than a week and the final defeat still rangles
However, the wounds remain raw. Pochettino, speaking on Spurs & # 39; tour through Asia, considers Liverpool's defeat to be the most painful moment of his managerial life, a couple with his worst as a player, when he stumbled Michael Owen into the penalty area in Sapporo 17 years ago .
& # 39; Very bad! & # 39; he says. & # 39; I compare it with the summer of 2002 when we were defeated by England and went out with Sweden in the World Cup group stage and went out. These are the worst moments in my career. & # 39;
You get the impression of how Liverpool wins, aided by a controversial early penalty, still rankings. & # 39; I thought we were better than Liverpool, & # 39; reflects Pochettino. "It wasn't a great end, but small details made the difference."
There is little time to reflect on that with a new season – Tottenham & # 39; s first full in their beautiful new home – around the corner after this week trip to Munich for the Audi Cup.
& # 39; Winners move on quickly & # 39 ;, Pochettino says. & # 39; Maybe 10 days like me, or 15. If it's vacation, it's worse because you think the same every day, but when you start training, you put the bad things in the past. The moment you continue, the fire starts to appear again from the inside. & # 39;
De Spurs- boss, pictured with Son Heung-min, is now again motivated and full of optimism
At some point of the tour Tottenham saw Juventus beat before he lost 2-1 against Manchester United, Pochettino was asked to to ask if his party could use Liverpool – which ended 26 points for Spurs after two behind them in 2017-18 – as motivation.
Did he find that disrespectful, given the inequality in spending? & # 39; I don't know who's interested in including Tottenham in this group, & he says.
& # 39; Compare our net investment with (City, Liverpool, Chelsea and United). It has been in history, in the last 10 years, all the money that they have spent to get to where they are today. We are far from that. & # 39;
The 47-year-old thinks Spurs is not financially in that bracket. That could very well change. At the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Shanghai, chairman Daniel Levy caused an off-field high when he signed a new eight-year shirt sponsor agreement with AIA worth around £ 360 million, bringing Spurs to third place behind those Manchester clubs.
Levy suggested that now that the stadium and training field have been built, the focus can be shifted to football and the commercial side. It felt like an important moment, perhaps the start of a new era.
Tottenham planned a bold £ 80 million for Juventus forwarding Paulo Dybala [194590012]
On the day Levy spoke, Sportsmail reported Spurs, who had already spent a record £ 65 million on Tanguy Ndombele this summer, was talking to Juventus about a bold £ 80 million bid to bring striker Paulo Dybala to North London
Before the transfer window closes a week on Thursday, there may be a different perception of Tottenham, but for now the manager thinks their frugal ways must be celebrated.
& # 39; It is not fair to compare and say that Liverpool is going to b and an inspiration for us & # 39 ;, he says. No, it's the opposite. Tottenham is an inspiration for the rest of the Premier League teams because you can fight with less in everything.
& # 39; That is my idea. Maybe I'm wrong. Perhaps the people who say us are right compared to Liverpool or City. Of course we are not the best in the world, but in our circumstances we try to work and never be a big team. Always be brave and play with many young players. & # 39;
He pauses and then emphasizes the point. & # 39; Maybe we can end up with a trophy or not, but we are very close & # 39 ;, he adds. "We do much more with less."
He may not have to endure much longer.
Daniel Levy thinks it is now time for Spurs to continue and reinvest in their team

Yuri on Ice BD booklet translation (with Kenji Miyamoto interview) - Volume 2
Finally a new translation… This is a full translation of the booklet contained in the BD/DVD vol.2. This time I also decided to translate the captions under the pictures in the “TOPIC” sections because some of them actually have important information (like the one about the 3 sisters). Since it would be weird to only translate some based on what they say, I just translated them all and added them to the translation of the vol.1 booklet as well (you can find that here). If you check it you will understand why I hadn’t thought of translating them in the first place…
Like vol.1, the booklet has 3 parts: 1) Character introduction for Yurio and (short ones) for most characters living in Hasetsu like Yuuri and Nishigoori’s families. By the way, regarding Makkachin’s voice actor listed as “?”, I read in a recording report on Otomedia Plus that (at least in one of the scenes) Suwabe offered to voice him, lol. (I’m writing Makkachin as “he” but actually the gender is not officially confirmed yet) 2) “Topics”, in other words random curiosities. This time this section has some interesting information, especially if you are not too familiar with figure skating. (It also clears up why Yuuri and Victor are always alone in the rink and why they necessarily need to practice very early in the morning) 3) Interview with the choreographer Kenji Miyamoto. It explains more in detail some of the things that were mentioned in the commentary to the choreography footage of vol.1. The parts in round brackets are exactly like they are in the original text, it’s not something I added.
Hopefully I will be able to translate the audio commentary and choreography footage (which I still haven’t even had time to watch of course) too by the end of Sunday…
***If you wish to share this translation please do it by reblogging or posting a link to it***
***Re-translating into other languages is ok but please mention that this post is the source***
A beautiful monster that continues to grow
Yuri Plisetsky voiced by Kouki Uchiyama
Russian Height: 163 cm Date of birth: March 1st Blood type: B
Past record: 2 times consecutive winner of the Junior Grand Prix Final 2 times consecutive winner of the Junior World Championships
Introduction He debuts in the senior class at the age of 15 after repeatedly winning the Junior Grand Prix Final and Junior World Championships. Now a pupil of the noted scouter of young talents Yakov, he is Russia’s new hope. During his junior years he already mastered quadruple jumps, but his coach prohibited him from using them in matches. With his sharp jumps, he is in the focus of attention as everyone is curious to see how far he will be able to go in his first year as a senior. His talent was noticed when he was still little and he left his family in Moscow to train under coach Yakov in St. Petersburg. On the ice he is as beautiful as a fairy, but off the ice he is quite mischievous and is known for the striking aesthetic sense of the outfits he wears in the selfies posted on his SNS. He’s also famous for his devoted fan group Yuri’s angels, who cheer on him wearing cat ears. His favorite food is his grandpa’s pirozhki. Katsuki Family
Mari Katsuki voiced by Kyouko Sakai Yuuri’s older sister who works at “Yutopia Katsuki”. She likes idols and has a thing for blond boys. She named Yuri “Yurio” when he came to Hasetsu.
Toshiya Katsuki voiced by Souryuu Konno Yuuri’s father. He owns “Yutopia Katsuki”, the only day onsen in Hasetsu. He is not very familiar with figure skating and actually likes soccer.
Hiroko Katsuki voiced by Kei Hayami Yuuri’s mother. She runs “Yutopia Katsuki” with her husband. She knows Minako-sensei from when they were students, and Hiroko is the younger one. Nishigoori Family
Takeshi Nishigoori voiced by Jun Fukuyama Yuuri’s childhood friend and former rinkmate. He works at “Ice Castle Hasetsu”, is Yuuri’s good supporter and helps him with his basic training.
Yuuko Nishigoori voiced by Mariya Ise She is Nishigoori’s wife, works at “Ice Castle Hasetsu” and Yuuri has always admired her. She is Victor’s fan and doesn’t only care for Yuuri but for Yurio as well.
Axel, Lutz, Loop Nishigoori voiced by Akiko Yashima The 3 twins of the Nishigoori family, also known as the “3 skating otaku sisters”. They skillfully use their parents’ smartphones to post on the SNS and they organized “Onsen on ICE”. Their potential is bottomless. Minako Okukawa voiced by Yuka Komatsu Former ballet dancer who currently teaches a ballet class in Hasetsu, she is Yuuri’s strict but affectionate teacher. She travels around the world to support Yuuri and as a personal hobby.
Makkachin voiced by ? Victor’s pet dog, a standard poodle. He came to Hasetsu together with Victor. He is quiet and friendly to people, but is a bit greedy when it comes to food.
YURI!!!’s TOPIC
TOPIC 1: Skate Otaku Sisters The triplets of the Nishigoori family. Since they can do anything people tend to forget that they’re still 6 years old kindergartners. Axel, Lutz and Loop can be distinguished by their hairstyle and personal color. The reason they are called “skating otaku” sisters is that they use their parents’ smartphones and PC to check information about skaters on the social media and enjoy watching real time live streamings of international tournaments. By watching their behavioral pattern you will be able to understand how skating otaku all around the world live. Their parents work at an ice rink, but it’s not clear whether the 3 sisters can skate too.
*Each of them has an assigned task: taking movies, pictures or uploading *Their carefree action strongly influenced the story *A perfect spin. Maybe they can skate…? *They are even good at drawing, but they use crayons *Axel has pigtails and her color is purple. Lutz has a bun and her color is light blue. Loop has a ponytail and her color is pink.
TOPIC 2: Off ice training Of course, figure skating is mostly practiced on the ice. However, there are also many kinds of training that must be done off the ice, like fitness training, stretching exercises, core training and so on. Beside running and stretching, many skaters also incorporate ballet lessons into their basic training. In addition, some of them take lessons or hear the opinion from dancers and performers of various genres, to improve their expressiveness and understanding of the program. Sometimes they might even go stand under waterfalls to train their mental strength… maybe. There are no restrictions on the types of training, as long as they can improve their skating skills and expression.
*It’s a tough sport that requires lots of basic training *It’s important to have a trainer that supports you *Stretching exercises at any time *Russia is the home of ballet *Training your mental strength might be the hardest
TOPIC 3: Music Choosing music is important to create a program. Cases where music is created from scratch, like for Yuuri’s FS, are actually rare, and most skaters choose existing songs and have them edited so that their length is according to regulations (in case of the men’s senior class it’s approx. 2:40 min. for the short program and 4:30 min. for the free). Usually songs are edited by either the choreographer, music professionals or skaters themselves. Most of the times they use the original title of the song, but in cases of original songs such as “Yuri on ICE” or when the skater wants to deliver a certain message they use a different title for the program.
*It’s important that the song gives you an image *Sometimes they choose from what are called “standard songs” *The CD is an important object that they must hand out at tournaments
TOPIC 4: Choreography Program choreographies are commonly created by coaches or professional choreographers, but there are also skaters who create them on their own like Victor, and some who order them from professionals unrelated to the skating world, like for Yurio’s FS. When a choreography is created by a dancer or someone who doesn’t skate, usually the steps and exact footwork will be thought by the coach. Most professional choreographers aren’t always by the skater’s side, therefore skaters practice the choreography on their own and then have the choreographer come over a few times during the season to adjust it. Yuuri is really lucky to have a coach & choreographer teaching him on a one-to-one basis every day.
*Victor was already creating his own choreographies when he was competing *Yurio’s choreographer is a legendary prima ballerina *A choreographer that skates together with you is very precious
TOPIC 5: Ice rink Every skater has a home rink that they use as their base, but rink conditions are very different depending on the country. In Japan, except for the rinks owned by a few universities, most rinks are open to the public, therefore if athletes want to reserve a rink for personal training they need to book it outside of normal opening hours. Yuuri and Victor also look like they’re comfortably training alone in a large rink, but actually that’s usually in the early morning or late at night**. In some countries with better conditions there are many rinks and some of them even have different training hours depending on the level of skaters, therefore some Japanese skaters choose to have their home rink abroad. Yuuri must be really grateful to Nishigoori. [**translator’s note: for your reference, most normal rinks in the Tokyo/Kanto area are open to the public from 10:00 to 18:00]
*The Detroit rink Yuuri used to belong to *Yurio’s home rink in St. Petersburg *The Thai rink is downtown
Figure skating choreography Kenji Miyamoto interview
I said that if I was going to do it I would do everything myself, and choreographed about 20 songs.
The first time I was asked about the choreographies was in the summer of 2015. The first meeting was around October or November. My first thought was that it sounded like fun. There were countless possibilities, and I thought that we might get more people interested in figure skating, therefore I was really looking forward to it. At that time I didn’t think about the difficulties, and replied that I definitely wanted to do it. When I received the first request there were lots of songs and I was told that since it was hard schedule-wise they might have to ask someone else, but I said that if I was going to do it I would do everything myself, and adjusted the schedule.
-Choreographies were created at night, over a short period of time-
If I were working with a skater normally it would take about 3 days to create a program. We talked about the fact that it would have been difficult to create programs for dozens of songs right away, but since I was going to just skate them myself (instead of teaching them to a skater) I guessed it would have been faster. In the end I created choreographies for about 20 songs. I left 2 weeks of my schedule free from any other job. Every day I’d sleep during the day and we’d start from 23:00, after the rink’s business hours, until about 5:00-6:00 in the morning. It was still early spring, but everyone was freezing and every time we’d come out of the rink all clad in down jackets. We must have looked like some suspicious gang (LOL).
-Programs were conceived based on the songs and a little information-
On the day I had to choreograph a song I received information from director Yamamoto and Kubo-sensei, like what kind of person the skater is, where he’s from, what kind of songs he likes, the way he usually lives and so on, and I would get into his role and create the choreography. I only received 2-3 songs in advance, and the rest all came basically the day before choreographing. The songs were mostly original so it took longer to work on them, it was really a tight schedule. In some cases they said “today we were going to choreograph 2 songs, but 1 isn’t ready yet”, so on that day we only did 1 song and the next day we choreographed 3. If I were working with a skater it (3 songs in 1 day) would be absolutely impossible (LOL). All songs were difficult to choreograph. I was told that the programs need to be used in tournaments and skaters must be able to get levels for them, so even though the songs were edited slightly shorter than what you would normally use in a match, they include all necessary elements (required in a competitive program such as jumps, spins etc.). A program that was easy to picture is the protagonist Yuuri-kun’s. Also, Victor-san. About Victor-san I was told that “he is an absolute champion with a stately presence, a skater that no one can surpass”, so I created “Hanarezu ni Soba ni Ite” as a majestic and excellent performance. I made him raise his head in a way the line of his throat would look beautiful, like a white stone statue. It’s not something I was told by Kubo-sensei and the others, I came up with that idea myself. A program that was hard to imagine was maybe the FS of Thailand’s Phichit-kun. The reason is simply that I’m not familiar with Thai folk songs, so I had to look up pictures and movies and it took some time. Just at that time I couldn’t lift my left shoulder anymore and had my trainer come over and tape it, I guess that was really when I had the hardest time. I had to do movements for many different skaters, some of which are not movements I normally do myself, that’s why I ended up injuring my shoulder a little.
-Trying different camera angles and clothes-
There were 4-5 fixed cameras on the side of the rink, and Kanako Odagaki-sensei skated after me with another one. The sense of speed feels different when looking through a camera compared to looking normally though, so whenever I sped up I would end up going too far from the camera. In the beginning it was difficult because I kept leaving too much distance between us, but we got better with each time and in the end we were able to basically move in synchrony. For every program I told the director and the staff what the skating course would be in advance, and depending on the choreography we discussed on what would be the best way to film it, for example if it was better to film it from the center of the circle or from the outside, and I discussed with Kubo-sensei as well. Even for the clothes, in the beginning I was skating with a pitch black outfit, but I was told that it was hard to distinguish left and right and so I wrapped tape on one side. Also, since all athletes skate with costumes, I tried to wear clothes like large blouses so that the staff could see how they flutter in the wind when you skate. I always used to set my hair, but I also skated without setting it so that they could see how it moves when you turn around, how you sweat and so on. (We didn’t only film each program once,) I repeated every program a few times. However, doing everything again from the start to the end was difficult, also because my body wouldn’t last. (When I felt that it was difficult) there were times when I asked them to film as best as they could because I was only going to skate the full program once. If it still wasn’t enough, I skated just the parts they needed to see again the next day. (As it also happens when I create choreographies for real skaters) sometimes I would realize that I needed to shorten the skating part, or that even though the sequence was very difficult there was still a chance that they could land a jump. The rink was small, so jumps were done differently than normal ones, and I thought it could be fun to change the curve too.
-People who started skating after watching Yuri-
To be honest, I thought that once it became animation it would look very different from the actual thing, but in fact it was almost the same. Of course flat pictures are not the same as tridimensional reality, but it got really close to the essence of skating. I was surprised at how realistically they recreated muscles and other details. The staff is seriously amazing. Some shots were different than what I had created, because when the director, Kubo-sensei and the staff watched it they thought that another form would look better and so they changed it. It was interesting to see how different people see things in different ways. But they really did a wonderful job, because when I watched the programs they were indeed beautiful. I see a lot of response now that the series has started airing. (The other day when I went to a tournament) a foreign coach grabbed his pupil just before they were going to skate and told them “you know, Kenji did all the choreographies for Yuri!” (LOL). I replied “you don’t have to tell them now” though. It’s great that it’s having so much response, and I’m very happy about it. I was asked to do choreographies for those songs, and there was even a boy who said he started skating after watching “Yuri on Ice”, that really made me happy. Looking back, I’m glad that I said I would do everything myself.
Kenji Miyamoto / Born in 1978 in Hyogo. Ice dance winner of the Japan Figure Skating Championships in 2001-02. After retiring from competition he became one of the leading choreographers in Japan, creating programs for skaters of all ages, from children to world champions, both Japanese and foreign.
