Evgeni Malkin spent the NHL’s break for 4 Nations Face-Off in South Florida enjoying quality time with family, swimming and sneaking in a dinner with longtime frenemy Alex Ovechkin.

Oh, and there’s this …

“I not retire,” Malkin said to The Athletic on Wednesday. “I know what some people say — like, I go back to Russia and play for my home team. But I never say it, you know?

“I retire with Pittsburgh. The Penguins are my team. I love this team. When I retire it’s here.”

Though Malkin spoke as recently as last September about wanting another 100-point season in the NHL, his days as a dominant scorer are likely finished. He has one season remaining on his contract and has not decided if it will be his last.

That last contract will be with the Penguins, though.

“I retire here — with Penguins — when it happens,” Malkin said. “This is my only team.”

“I not play in Russia after Pittsburgh,” Malkin said Wednesday. “Maybe one game for home team in Russia. Just one to say goodbye.”

the empress card represents mother hood, nature and fertility. the emperor card represents authority, structure and control - it can also indicate a father figure. both balance each other out.

nicklas backstrom and alex ovechkin were the backbone of the washington capitals and played 1058 games together. they are very well known for their bond - being called, amongst other things, 'a married couple' and 'mama and papa' ( nicki being mama and ovi being papa, and the main reason i thought of them for these cards!). nicklas has been on LTIR for over a year now and is expected to remain there for the rest of his career, and it is very unlikely they will ever play together again; i at least wanted them to be together for this drawing :)

the most insane quote of theirs is when they won the stanley cup together for the first time in franchise history and ovi said "after me, i give it to you baby, the stanley cup" <- videos that make me want to microwave myself

Like, you'd think teams would be able to do something about ovi standing at the spot at this point. It's been 19 years and he's as gray as a wolf. That old man's hips gave out 3 years ago and he's still gonna put up 30, half of which are gonna be from the top of the circle on the power play. Top of the circle power play goal from Ovechkin. Sun rose in the east today i'm guessing? Oh, and it's gonna set in the west, too, I bet. Entire hockey players have been born trained and drafted in that time and we still don't know what to do about that fuckass yellow skatelaces refrigerator-sized piece of dubiously sourced Russian beef just standing in his little spot with his little stick in the air. But that's just how it be on this bitch of an earth
