Watching The Gilded Age season 3 and I have one issue with the conflict between Agnes and Ada over who runs the household continuously being boiled down to Ada having the money now. The house still belongs to Agnes. Ada has no ownership or control over the house. And the servants aren’t merely being paid a wage, they’re also being provided room and board. So it feels strange that things keep being painted as a complete transfer of power.
