Literally nothing in Canada has convinced me more that their is a poison deep in the DNA of this country at it’s inception than growing up in rural Newfoundland, seeing how rampant scurvy is, and seeing exactly who scurvy most effected and why it was that way.

And don’t get me started on the federally paid doctors sent and vetted by the government who serve the areas with prominent indigenous populations. “Do you really need that finger?” They ask, for an extremely treatable injury that would otherwise result in the loss of the finger untreated. And they had the fucking gall to sigh in annoyance when she said “yes” because she was a college student who typed papers.

So with food supplies, poverty, and medical care being like that you can imagine how stacked the odds are against indigenous people!
