Long time no Bud. Wow the last time I made her a ref was 2018. I experimented some with her pallet. Unsure if I like the profile head but oh well, open mouthed anime inspired profile faces are notoriously hard for a reason.

Another one of these since i haven't done it in a while! Sketch -> finished illustration

Thoughts & process below the cut :>

Out of Bounds: i deleted the sketch of this off my ipad because i didn't like it, and for months it only existed as a screenshot on discord. finally in january of this year i was like Wait Actually and decided to keep working on it. I didn't achieve the look I was going for (kind of foggy and vague. It came out too sharp and high contrast) but it was fun to throw the kitchen sink at it for an afternoon and then call it done finally. I don't remember which horse this was originally supposed to be, I think Macha?

I reused the pose, you'll find the same one in my Pascal sketchbook from the section on gait studies. That's the cool thing about doing 30 sketches at once, you can finish them up any time you like for a different drawing

The Fool ft Islin: the original concept for this is from [takes a moment to decipher the american date system on discord] January 2022

It wasn't dynamic enough, but I've had this on the backburner for sooo long. I think I completed like 4 cards in between this sketch and the final version lol. But, for a bit of background, this is from my series of major arcana based in Inver, and in particular the events of the 1860s-era book series, Moth Viper Foal (a demo of the first book, Said The Black Horse, is available for free/pwyw in my shop). This scene is a companion to Said The Black Horse, depicting the aftermath of the traumatic fight that caused Islin to storm off. He had been working at the mill as a semiprofessional back alley surgeon when he received an offer to join the church and work as a trained surgeon in their hospital. But when he brought the good news back to his friends it was met with utter rejection, driving him to basically run away to join the church. while gay and trans. thus the card.

Gryfon and Pantera: This is how 99% of holy beast drawings start out, even the super stylised ones. I struggle a lot to draw them in procreate so they start in sai and then i transfer them over. The story of this is already explained in the caption of the original post so I'll just talk about the process which was... honestly torturous. I actually don't like too much textures and effects on things (wild, I know) and this one and Out of Bounds are ones where I kind of preferred it pre-texturising.

The text on the side is the official in-universe report of the event, detailing the casualties, the valiant actions of Gryfon's knight before he died and so on. There's also spoilers in there :>

My main struggle with this art style is how it always ends up slightly TOO sharp and crisp in a way the just a blur filter never can correct. There's not a lot of immersion to break, to be fair, but I think this still does it a little. I need to get more comfortable doing the lines with larger and softer brushes, and allowing imperfections.

I can't even put it into words to be honest with you, these are just excellent. Anyhow, I've actually thought a bit about this scenario before, but this just inspired me, so I wrote some short hcs for you. Hope you like them! <3:

The Player Matches Outfits with Them ft. The Main 3 + 2BDamned

(TW: Yandere, Obsessive Behavior)

- [2BDAMNED] -

2BDamned knew that you had been working on a little project - one that you tried to keep as secret as possible. He was curious, but not enough to encroach on whatever boundary you set regarding it. All he knew from your rather lackadaisical explanation was that he'd be very surprised when he saw. And, well, he was.

The first conscious thought in 2BDamned's head is the question of how you've managed to make a mask that looks so similar to his without borrowing the original. It's really spot on; the seams are in the exact same place, and even if yours has to have been configured differently to fit your more human facial features, the silhouette is exactly the same.

(In the end, he concludes that you simply must've studied his appearance for a while to truly replicate his mask, which makes him feel almost giddy in a way he might've deemed embarrassing before meeting you. But now he's just overcome with happiness that you were obviously interested enough in him to do this.)

He openly praises your skill in sewing, knowing that grunt clothing is ordinarily much too large for you. And you'd notice how the fondness he holds for you seeps into the words, his gaze lingering on you in a way that left you feeling warm.

If you could see underneath his own mask, you'd be able to see the smile he was unable to bite back as well, and the flush that he'd try to will away otherwise. And while he is incredibly impressed (and happy) at what you've managed to put together, he will mention that you could also borrow his actual things once in a while, if you feel so inclined. He just happens to think one of his own jackets might suit you too.

(Of course, he doesn't miss the chance to lean real close to adjust your mask as he says this either, just to fluster you even more. You really have no idea how cute you are, especially looking like this.)

- [DEIMOS] -

A full minute of unintelligible sputtering leaves Deimos' lips the moment he sees your new outfit, and you laugh at the way his face goes bright red. When you said you had a surprise, this was one of the last things he expected.

Luckily for him, he's able to quickly gather his composure, and his excited ramblings turn into smooth flirts that'll leave you blushing instead of him. Expect all sorts of comments about how cute you looked dressed up like him, and praises about how you look even better in his fit than he does.

He insists on taking a ton of pictures together, and you can bet he keeps his favorite in his wallet. (It's one of your faces smushed together as you both grin at the camera, making a heart with your hands.)

He considers this a total power-couple thing; matching shirts are so low-effort compared to this, if anything it shows you perfect you are together. Although there is one thing he'd help you change from your original DIY version of his outfit - those sheet-metal dog tags you made can't compare to the real thing in his opinion, so why don't you just use one of his instead?

Also, don't think he won't take advantage of the fact that you both are the only ones with headsets. Even if yours isn't functioning (because let's be honest, finding one in working condition would be difficult), he'll fix it up quickly just so he can talk more directly to you during missions. And whenever else he wants to, to the irritation of the other three.

- [SANFORD] -

Sanford would consider his outfit to be fairly standard, but he recognized that you were emulating him the moment you slid the sunglasses on. And he couldn't stop the goofy smile from splitting his face when he realized it either, not even attempting to hide his amusement at what you've done.

(He only gets visibly happier when you 'threateningly' brandish your wire hook in his direction. You really put a lot of thought into this, didn't you?)

While Sanford has the amount of restraint in him to not openly brag about you doing this, he can't deny the rush of satisfaction he gets from seeing you in what is an unmistakable homage to him. If you look closely, you'll see him straighten up in pride whenever you come into view. (It's almost like preening, really. If he weren't so flushed, perhaps you'd think it to be more of an ego thing, but no.)

Although, he does show a little bit more concern about some aspects of your outfit. Like your boots, for example; he can't count the number of times he's gotten blisters while breaking in his own, so you should expect him to ask you if you need any plasters (or help bandaging yourself as well).

(If you decide to accept his offer, you'll find yourself questioning whether he ever officially trained as a medic before. He surely has the gentleness befitting of one, shown in how he carefully cleans your wounds and softly applies the ointment, his calloused fingers gently smoothing over the plasters on your Achilles heels afterward. Although you have the slightest suspicion that this tenderness from him is known only to you.)

Sanford will also make it part of his routine to pluck your glasses from your nose and clean them after he does his own. Afterward, he'll slowly lean in when he places them back on you to make sure he doesn't poke you in the eye. Neither of you mention that you could do it yourself, or that his decision to slide them back onto the bridge of your nose himself was highly unnecessary. Maybe he just does it to get a better look at the way you blink up at him and blush, or perhaps it's for some other reason, who's to say? Either way, you have no complaints.

- [HANK J. WIMBLETON] -

Your laughs are muffled under Hank's hands as he cups your face, tilting it up to look closely at you. His excitement at your new look is almost palpable; you can easily tell from how he's shaking and hurriedly looking over, his gaze never stopping on one spot for longer than a second. He just wants to take in everything about your new look, is all.

He'll almost insist on doing a mission with you wearing it, not only because the idea sounds fun to him (with his love of carnage and all), but also because it provides an excellent opportunity to rub in everyone else's faces that you chose to copy his outfit. Not theirs.

In a way, he also becomes just a tad more doting than usual. He busies himself with dusting you off, and adjusting your goggles and the lapels of your coat whenever another skirmish is finished. It's his way of checking you over and making sure your hard work wasn't damaged either.

(Plus, he'd hate it if this instance of you copying him was cut short because of some worthless grunts' attempts at harming you.)

You'll catch him sticking closer to you than usual too, and he does so for multiple reasons. First is that he just prefers to be near you whenever he can anyway (the warmth of your presence is one of his favorite things, and it gives ample opportunity to show off around you), but now there's also the fact that your outfit will freak out your enemies. As you can imagine, he enjoys that immensely, and what better way to improve this experience than to have his Player join him?

In a way, Hank also sees this as a sort of 'claim' you've put on yourself too. Wearing your significant other's clothing is kind of a thing with some grunts, and while he knows they aren't really his clothes, there's still some of that same sentiment there that makes him purr just a bit louder whenever he sees you in that new outfit of yours. It tells the world you're his in some way, even if not officially. So why wouldn't he be happy about that?

The flowers on the cover of vol. 26

The flowers on Volume 26 appear to be snow camellias (camellia rusticana), or yuki-tsubaki (雪椿, ユキツバキ) in Japanese.

[Snow camellias] naturally occurs in areas of heavy snowfall at altitudes ranging from 1,100 metres (3,500 ft) down to 120 metres (400 ft) on sloping land under deciduous beech trees in the mountain regions to the north of the main island of Honshu and facing the Sea of Japan. [x]

I was trying to find hanakotoba specifically for pink snow camellias but that specific combination turns out to be difficult to find. In thinking about it, it may just be that Gege painted the flowers a little pinker than intended considering his minor color blindness (as evidenced by Yuji's various shades of blonde-pink hair in his color art). Especially since in the photos I found of snow camellias they're close to shades of vivid dark pink-red. The colors on the cover are also tinted blue so I wouldn't be surprised if that's another factor for why the flowers are probably pinker than they would've been.

...I just don't think the hanakotoba for regular pink camellias really fit Gojo. ("modest/humble beauty," "modest/humble love," and "modest/discreet") This is my own bias. Lol.

However, I did find these neat tidbits from this site that I liked, so I'm sharing it here.

Considering Gojo's position in not just Jujutsu society, but Japanese society (considering Jujutsu is covered up by the Japanese government), I really liked this bit about how it's representative of Japan.

This speaks for itself. And honestly, I think it's this reason that would've caught Gege's attention the most. Like, ignoring everything else about the flower, I think he'd have chosen it just for this meaning. (Btw, a "seasonal word", kigo, is required in traditional JP poetry to be considered a poem.)

Now, these are just fun. It was in response to whether camellias are considered lucky or not, and the answer to that is pretty much, both. Depends on who you ask, I guess. Lol.

Sacred trees that ward off evil spirits, huh... It reminds me of the connection between the Six Eyes and Tengen again.

The imagery of the camellia head falling off also reminds me of when we thought Gojo's head would go flying during Sukuna's earlier attack. I mean... The top part of him did eventually split off though, so it's not entirely inaccurate.

Ive got a bad case of the yaps rn so uh rant time!!!

I put on American Werewolf for my mum, she didn’t pay much attention (sad) and then went on to say it was a “sh!t movie” like I get not everyone has the same opinion, don’t flame me please 🙏 but she didn’t say WHY she thought that? Like if its bc they ignored/forgot the warnings, almost every horror movie has the obligatory “lol main ppl do something stupid”, if its too cheesy? It was 1981. That one specific scene was unnecessary? Yeah ok based for that. But nope she never told me lol!

Yes the film has its flaws, but it has one of if not THE most iconic transformation scenes in media and was the first film in history to win a makeup oscar and thats just so cool! Plus accidental creation of doomed yaoi is always peak!

HELLO LOVELY KARFY WARFY !!! hehe i'm so glad you asked about this one; it is particularly near n dear to my heart .. sometimes i get very tired of trying to squeeze my mind into the brain of a british man, and decided it could be a bit of fun to write what i actually know for once :o))) so !!! this is a muggle au set in nz and it follows each of the 4 main laddos throughout their final year of uni

remus is the deeply strange spawn of hippies who walks on stilts, plays the trombone, and has a thing for ugly vests. he subsists mainly off of soup and broke up with tonks just before the events of the main story <33 (this r is so special to me i could talk about him for hours .. my fav freak fr...)

sirius is a fine arts student n in a band (of the post-punk persuasion), and his plot line largely revolves around identity: he's māori but was adopted by pākehā (who he is now estranged from), and it will follow his journey of learning abt his ancestry and reclaiming his culture and language (this particular plotline is extremelyyy dear 2 me ..) (also fun fact takurua is the te reo name for the dog star and was instrumental in early māori sea faring !! in this fic takurua is sirius's birth name, which was anglicised when he was adopted)

peter is thoroughly stuck in a rut;; he's doing a degree he hates and feels like his friends' lives are moving on and he's just stuck in the same place waiting to catch up . enter fabian, a chaotic party boy who studies art with sirius (they hate each other lol), who helps peter to come out of his shell and forge his own identity ;; but where peter is discovering himself n falling in love, fabian is self-destructing ...

JAMES works at a supermarket <3 he dropped out of med school after having a nervous breakdown and is currently taking a gap year ;; he texts the wrong number one night (he tried to buy a fish tank off facebook marketplace and got scammed Lol ;; they gave him what they thought was a fake number !) n becomes deeply obsessed w the snarky recipient of his texts (wonder who....!)

i have an idea.. why not split the serum.. rod reiss licked a bit of the serum and turned into the globglogabgalab and unless that’s part of the royal family bundle then it would work on armin and erwin. so feed bertholdt to one of them and capture the other, like they did with sawney and bean, wait until they’re able to defeat reiner or zeke and feed the other.. EASY.. also i drew more of my big daddy erwin heheh

Okay, so!

When Rod Reiss licked the serum, he turned into a terribly huge titan that surpassed even the size of the Colossal. But he couldn't walk, the limbs were disproportionately small to the support the weight of the main body, leaving him to crawl his way to the walls. What's worse, he didn't have a face, nor his front exterior, leaving all his innards exposed lol. He became an abnormal titan, when he should've been a normal titan instead.

But if I'm not wrong, the reason this happened was precisely because he licked only a bit of the serum, ie, taking it inappropriately and in the wrong dose.

(Side note: another interesting argument that also exists with regard to Rod Reiss' abnormal titan is that since the serum he was carrying was possibly linked to the founding titan's form, and he was a person with royal blood, his titan was essentially a form of the founding titan. From the few drawings of the original FT that we have throughout the series, they seem very very large. Anyway.)

If that's true, then splitting the serum on the rooftops between Erwin and Armin wouldn't have worked, because god knows what would've happened to both of their transformations. The reason there was so much of emphasis on the "only one injection" part of this crisis was because of this, I believe.

But let's say it was possible to split the serum! What then?

So we get two titans, one Erwin and one Armin. One of them eats Bertholdt, and turns back human. What about the other? Because as you say, it would've been extremely difficult to restrain it in that situation like it was done for Sawney and Bean, because manpower was thinned down to the bare minimum of people, with everyone else dead. Hange was injured. Eren was exhausted, he likely wouldn't have been able to transform anymore. Levi too was using the last bits of his power after finishing off Zeke's abnormals. What then? Leave the other titan (Erwin or Armin) to roam all alone inside Shiganshina until they could come back and capture it? Not a single one of them would've been able to do that.

Secondly, much before the fight on the rooftops happened, both Zeke and Reiner were captured by Pieck and escaped. They were gone. Gone gone. They leave Paradis, and don't come back until 4 years later. Would the remaining titan (Erwin or Armin) stay a titan for that long? Also impossible.

So xD There really wasn't a way out of this that would've made both sides happy, imo.

General Simon brainrot sketch page :3, as per usual, explanations under a cut. Apologies if my posts tend to be kinda huge and difficult to scroll past, I try to do the cuts to make sure they do the least inconvenience to anyone! (>-< ;)

Expression practice! Simon is feeling the weight of his situation rn alas :(. I’ve always imagined him being panicked the whole game; the overarching entire game timer really gives a pretty good feeling of dread imo. The two doodles at the bottom were attempts at multiple ideas I’ve seen floating around about the curse, but they’re kinda bad in execution looking at them no tbh. But the first one is based on the idea that the curse gives some vampire traits like sharp teeth and would probably lead to proper vampirism if he were to die from it. The second was general attempt at like skull practice and comparing facial features to skull structure, but oh my god the page kept smudging and I tried making it look ok with some random blood on there but it just made it look even sillier 💀.

These next two are based on two random like liminal space images I ran into on Pinterest and I drew them mostly because I suck at backgrounds and idk Simon’s Quest itself is like Castlevania: Liminal Space Edition a lot of the time, so it fits X,,,,D. The first one I really liked the composition of the path on the far side contrasted to the trees. Imagine the water is the purple cursed swamp :3. Hopefully Simon has laurels just standin around in there.

This second liminal space for Simon to be in was this neat nighttime photo of a graveyard! Trees are HARD TO DRAW, especially just in pencil and a solid black background. There’s blood on the ground and stuff cause he was just fighting some monsters, probably those two headed lizard guys. It’s the awkward stillness after clearing out an area of enemies.

Simon is very fun to put in exaggerated poses! Especially cause you have to exaggerate them more to get the same ratio of pose to negative space because muscles and armor. I had no idea how to make metal belt armor thingies sit in a like legs up floating sort of pose like this so they kinda bend a little weird but eh he looks cute otherwise. The other doodles present are one that says “brainrot” which is kinda making fun of my own dedication to an NES character 💀 and also cause haha rot like the curse. Also, teeny tiny Simon with a heart!!! :3

Yippie! Simon posing again! I think the first pose was inspired by this like random old anime style angel figure??? Idk I think she was just an original character figure and the pose was pretty different, I just used the reference mostly for the arm position. Anyway, he’s vibin, just sitting curled up and momentarily comfy. Alas, the horrors persist in the second doodle that was an attempt at showing how the curse kinda deteriorates him but he just kinda ended up having a scarily snatched waist and it looks more stylized than like sick. Also the armor kinda bends around him in a way that makes it look like it shrunk with him which is so dumb lmaooooo (XwX). I’ll have to revisit the concept eventually idk, just look at his face for this one XD. Hahaha tiny doodle based on Larval Rin on the left there, nothing to see here—

The main doodle is just Simon looking into the distance bewildered and holding the whip, standard stuff. There’s also a side profile doodle and an attempt at drawing crying again cause I was getting kinda rusty at both of those things.

Simon Belmont but if he was 2000s anime lol. A fun little style experiment, I might keep this as like another secondary art style. There’s also some doodles of a hanged man skeleton, the eyes of Vlad, a skeleton hand, and a couple little chibi Simon’s of various expressions.

More 2000s anime Simon, but in a more silly way like the art style change for joke sections. One is him just goofily holding up Dracula’s head, but it’s contrasted immediately with a more gritty usual art style doodle of him with harsh shading lol. Get you a man who can do both I guess 💀

I gotta practice more on backgrounds and composition and stuff, probably also get some curse effects consistent augh. Lately I’ve been on and off working on random things or just staring into space tired, getting back to using social media is hard and an exhausting uphill battle unfortunately (_ _ ;). Sometimes I feel like I should probably split these up into multiple posts to make things more visible and to put more focus on specific drawings, but idk I don’t really want to, it just feels weird to me breaking up a doodle page like that, if that makes sense??? ooh, man, this is a good one! i think i’d say any man-made object with intricate details. guitars are one that’s always plagued me, or a good example of something i’ve drawn for this project is cars. god, is baby hard to get right lol. i don’t think my style is very conducive to concrete, uniform shapes, and that’s where i get tripped up!
