You know you're American when you try to avoid the expense of the doctors by attempting to cure yourself with willpower and the placebo effect.

Map taken from MSF on twitter. They state that Nasser hospital is now out of commission, leaving people in Gaza with increasingly limited options to seek healthcare.
Hospitals are not legitimate targets.
This is a genocide.

November 11, 2023—Hospitals in Gaza have been under relentless bombardment over the past 24 hours. Al-Shifa Hospital complex, the biggest health facility where staff for Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres (MSF) are still working, has been hit several times, including the maternity and outpatient departments, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.
The hostilities around the hospital have not stopped. MSF teams and hundreds of patients are still inside Al-Shifa Hospital. MSF urgently reiterates its calls to stop the attacks against hospitals, for an immediate ceasefire, and for the protection of medical facilities, medical staff, and patients.
“We are being killed here, please do something," texted one of MSF's nurses from the basement of Al-Shifa Hospital this morning, where he and his family were sheltering from the incessant bombing. “Four or five families are sheltering now in the basement, the shelling is so close, my kids are crying and screaming in fear.”
"The situation in Al-Shifa is truly catastrophic," said Ann Taylor, MSF's Head of Mission in Palestine. "We call on the Israeli government to cease this unrelenting assault on Gaza’s health system. Our staff and patients are inside Al-Shifa Hospital, where the heavy bombing has not stopped since yesterday.” [...]
MSF denounces this death warrant on civilians currently trapped in Al-Shifa Hospital signed by the Israeli military. There needs to be an urgent and unconditional ceasefire between all warring parties; humanitarian aid must be supplied to the entirety of Gaza now.
At Al-Quds Hospital, MSF has lost contact with a surgeon who is working and sheltering there with his family. Other health facilities, including Al Rantisi Hospital, which MSF has also supported in the past, were reportedly surrounded by Israeli tanks.

Na'vi Medical Practices---Riley-Verse/Fanon
The Na'vi used Lakri (StagFly Ant) heads as sutures. While moderately effective, this practice is excruciating, as anyone bitten by a StagFly knows. However, these heads can be fragile and need to be replaced if they fall off or break before the wound heals.
In some parts of Pandora, a plant called Paywll (Dapophet) grows, which is known to be healing. But it is not a cure-all, and not every Clan has access to it. If you get injured, you still need medical attention. However, it can help start the healing process and prevent some injuries from becoming fatal.
Some think that the Tsahik is the only healer of the clan. However, this is not true. The Tsahik can be a healer but is the spiritual leader first and foremost.
You would think that Na'vi would already be well-versed in using actual sutures considering how adept they are at needlework. However, they use larger needles and fiber-yarn for stitching fabrics together and larger beads, and they hand tread any smaller beads. Tattoo and piercing needles aren't able to be used for sewing.
Riley continues to use standard surgical needles made for avatars. The Na'vi use ones they carved from animal bones. They use sutures made of plant fibers.
The Na'vi are relatively resistant to infection, especially when being properly treated. So being completely sterile isn't as necessary. Not that the Na'vi are doing any major internal surgery anyway.
The Na'vi and Avatar have another small lobe in the front of the brain, which ties into the occipital lobe. and when they focus, it allows them to see the forest differently and they can even see things more clearly in the underbrush.
Human medicine does not work as well on Avatars and Na'vi. IT DOES WORK, Just not as effectively. It helps that they don't get infections as easily.
These are just some Fanon Na'vi Medical thoughts I've been thinking about while I work on my Quaritch x OC fics. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of info on Na'vi medicinal practices and my OC is an MD so I needed to come up with some things.

"How to start off a fanfic where Julian ends up separated from his support network and forced to try and deal with a huge complex situation on his own merits?"
"Of course! He's on his way to a medical conference!"
