Wrong Move
#bad touch... 2! anyway to save everyone from a novella in the tags i will be replying to this post afterward with some directors commentary#EDIT: go look in the replies for a link to my director's commentary with bonus thumbnails#this has been sat around for like 2-3 months unfinished for reasons i will expand upon there. lol#isat spoilers#isat#isat fanart#isat siffrin#isat loop#isat isabeau#isafrin#isiloop#sifloop#sloops#sloopis#in stars and time#in stars and time fanart#lucabyteart#emplore u to not look at the anatomy too hard here because i basically took the executive decision to IGNORE THAT SHIT to get this finished#so its absolutely scuffed as is the spacial reasoning of the whole thing. theyre just laid next to each other in a bed/on a bedroll#just bc i have no fucking clue how clear any of that is. like at all#also i do promise that most of the time when im bashing the dolls together in my head it is like 90% yay what if they healed and were happy#but like. im not drawing that. lol. everyone else can go do that. im here to articulate concepts rather than make nice emotions#so . priorities. anyway sorry isabeau being tied up in this unfinished larger comic meant i didnt draw u for ages elsewhere#theres enough isafrin out there i dont need to contribute

DINA MEYER as Detective Allison Kerry in Saw III (2006)
#horroredit#sawedit#filmedit#dina meyer#allison kerry#saw franchise#saw iii#saw 3#moviesedit#mygifs#userlenny#mikaeled#horrorwomensource#filmgifs#userstream#moveigifs#best girl kerry 💔#fuck amanda for sabotaging kerry's trap#i wonder if hoffman knew about that tho#he helped to put kerry in the trap because she was too heavy for amanda#but apart from that did he know it was an execution#even in director and actor's commentaries there's nothing about that#kerry's 'test' was a huge bs anyway#'you're dead inside' oh fuck off#try to work in that line of work and be good and see all the bs she sees and maintain stable mental health all the time#are you fucking kidding me#getting people into traps for depressive episodes duuuuuuude#it was just an execution to silence her because she was too close to catch them#and they couldn't dig any legit dirt on her (like with eric) so they were like 'yeah we are accusing you of... having a depression'

Opinion: more killer clowns should actually BE clowns. Writing a regular killer and then just putting clown makeup on him is such a lazy execution of the concept. Where's the fun? Where's the whimsy? Where's the sinister slapstick and the gruesome gags? Killer clowns shouldn't just be murdering like murderers, they should be clowning with murderous intent. Why would you reduce the concept to "the person killing you is dressed as a clown" when you could instead play with the horror of realizing that the person killing you is incapable of taking your pain or death seriously bc he just views you as a prop for a silly bit? If I'm going to die on this hill then the least they could do is make it funny
#my gf showed me art the clown from terrifier and i respect the concept and execution of his clowning so much#unfortunately neither one of us enjoy gore so we cant actually watch the movies 😔#which sucks bc from what we saw in the scenes we looked up it seems like exactly the type of thing im looking for#but i must respect the directors vision#she also suggested stitches which is apparently less gorey and more campy so we may watch that#and weve seen killer clowns from outerspace which is slightly closer to what im talking about#but art the clown really seems like the platonic ideal of what killer clowns should be to me#if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know#rambling

my big thing with diversity in film and theater is that it’s nice to see diversity on screen/stage, but what about behind the camera or backstage? and what about the writing rooms? what about the directors and producers? when the cast is diverse but everything behind the scenes isn’t, it just feels like tokenism. and when the cast and crew are diverse but the creators and those with power over the project aren’t, well then it’s just replicating established power structures?
#every year i see a bunch of posts abt how these award shows are the most diverse ever !#but it’s just in acting#the filmmakers and such are generally still the same#and it’s just#obviously expecting a lot from indurstires isn’t going to get u anywhere (support indie!!!!)#but i wish more ppl were aware and outraged !!!!!!#same with theater in my limited experience#was in a show that had a hugely diverse cast but the crew ? white as fuck#creative team? white. director wasn’t but like she didn’t do anything so it was delegated to her white producers#and the few poc in the executive producing team were basically demoted and treated like shitttttttttt#so so bad never doing student theater again tho i heard it got better#blayne#delete later

what’s your favorite book you’ve read this year??? i gotta pick up something new!!
what a lovely question to receive! im so sorry for the delayed response and that i dont know your taste in books (please feel free to dm me anytime and talk about them!) but i really enjoyed The Gilda Stories to the point i've read it three times within the same month!
its a 1991 novel forcing on a Black lesbian that escapes enslavement and eventually becomes a vampire by two lesbians. each chapter being about a different time period in her life [1850, 1890, 1921, 1971, 1981, 2020, 2050]!
i dont want to give too much away if you havent read it yet but the writing is so enchanting and Jewelle Gomez's style is one of my favorites. its simultaneously melancholic and comforting, holding onto the message of how important hope for tomorrow is despite the current state of today and that community is needed not only for survival but for actual living—that those connections is what makes life truly fulfilling. i've underlined so many little lines in almost every passage (when not underlining the entire passage itself!) because i just love gilda herself as well as how her motivations, desires, and resilience is written and explored. plus i find the way vampires and how they function to be such a beautiful idea and so creative :) i really hope you read it and enjoy it as much as i have!! <33
from the afterword:
“Jewelle Gomez says that she modeled her first book of poems The Lipstick Papers after Lorde’s early publications, and was inspired by that vampire who appears on the very last page of From a Land Where Other People Live. Lorde asks whether the black community is ready for a black woman who defies limitations, and Gomez responds with Gilda, a black woman who moves across time and space, navigating different eras in black creative community. Gomez provides depth and flesh to the nightmares of narrow-minded people who police the definition of blackness, and steals back the power and threat of black feminine difference. In other words, if the definitions of blackness, femininity, and queerness are death in the eyes of the dominant culture, Gomez offers another way of being black, queer, and feminine by creating the undead.
Policy makers are afraid of the black woman who keeps her family alive without access to food, but here is Gilda, living on wine and dreams in the dark. Black nationalists are afraid of the black woman who can be a man when she needs to be, but here she is wearing britches and sprinting through the Midwest. The white feminist movement is afraid of a black woman in control of her sexuality, but here is a black woman who can run a brothel and kill a rapist with the same skills. Black women are afraid that expressing their power will leave them isolated and alone, but here is a black woman who wrestles for generations with the need for space and intimacy, interdependence and agency. Black artists are ready to produce a poetics that is more than a reaction to the oppressive narratives of the man, and here is Jewelle Gomez, a poet, relevant for generations.”
#also the writer (Jewelle Gomez) is a Black member of the Iowa and Wampanoag tribes!#shes an activist whos been advocating for gay rights since the early 80s and her wife also is an activist whos produced a lot of early prid#events in san francisco; is the executive director of The Lesbian Health & Research Center at UCSF; and develops programs to help educate#lesbian; bisexual; and trans women health!#<- just some bonus information on the writer since i learnt this and thought it was nice :3#but I'll easily place this book as my top read of the year and just general favorite books list. my queue is LOADED with quotes from it <33

Mansion of the Doomed (Massacre Mansion, 1976)
"You must trust me. I'm going to give you back your eyes, all of you. Soon. As soon as I've succeeded with Nancy, as soon as I... I discover the truth. I will share that truth with you. For the whole world! I believe in humanity, that's - that's what it's all about."

#dkhghgghkslghhhgh I'm Not Normal about rotg#my interest in it picks back up for a few weeks each year and I just. sigh#please dreamworks I know you had sequels planned. you don't know how big it would be amongst today's audiences. I prommy#director PETER RAMSEY and executive producer GUILLERMO DEL TORO both want to give it a second chance#as does joyce. the guy who sold the IP to dreamworks#nooo because there are so many interesting things the movie could pull on if it starts looking at the guardians with respect#to events of the past#a big critique of rotg is that it doesn't have much plot and I think that largely comes as a result of the movie being mostly setup#it needed to spend so much time establishing its world and I'm so glad that it did#but it did lead to people questioning what the heck bunny and tooth are and why pitch feels so flat etc etc#oh my GOD if they dug into how pitch was created it would add so much subtext to the antarctica scene#I wouldn't care about whether they brought in nightlight stuff or not by integrating more material from the books bc movie canon#is already so distinct but YOU'RE TELLING ME that this man... a guard in his own right... succumbed to the powers of fear#because he was mourning the loss of his child??? because he wanted to protect her??? and then he tried to connect with jack#(a child) over how much he longed to be known and have a FAMILY??? how am I supposed to be normal about this#there are so many ghosts of the books' influence in the first movie that could be explored so much#not to mention something something fear exists to keep people (kids) safe and eliminating it completely would be Bad Actually#maybe I'm realizing I just want pitch to be explored more sdkfjsldfjks#I've seen a lot of folks say they want more seasonal characters to be introduced and I guess that could work in the context of a show#but if they dove more into how the guardians came to be and what MIM's deal is and how that all affects the present#ohhhh baby that's good content right there#fern muses

our spam filter at work has been sending very important emails from people I regularly email to super secret email jail. there's junk, then there's quarantine, and then there's The Pit, where they send emails so dangerous that even looking at the subject line in a quarantine digest could kill you. it's for your own good that you don't even know these emails exist. for instance, emails about my monday legislative meeting.
#I had to do a help request and get them all freed from the pit#no word on why they were all flagged though#the endless phishing emails with people impersonating my executive director go to quarantine#but apparently follow up emails with the legislative team go to The Pit#human crap sack tire fire

Me looking in terror at the amount of admin meetings on my calendar for tomorrow: I make less than 40,000 a year in this full time position
#I am an assistant manager#but also the living history coordinator#but also group sales coordinator#and also responsible for hiring and training my direct staff#but I don’t have a manager title for that I only get coordinator#so I don’t get any additional pay even though my position is 4 rolled into one#because we’re a nonprofit that is barely keeping its head above water in an absolutely buckwild period of executive transition#I’m trying to learn more about the financial side of my department so that in a year or so I can argue for a title change#from assistant manager of interpretation AND living history coordinator#to associate director for living history#because listen I might not have a lot of experience yet but I am a fast learner and the number one thing I know#about working for an organization in transition#is that that is the PRIME time to learn how everything works and plan your upward trajectory#especially with the trial by fire I’ve gone through#I’m very confident in this plan#anyway#it’s a nonprofit kinda day#museum musings

365 Days of Writing Prompts: Day 216
Adjective: Pink
Noun: Peach
Definitions for those who need/want them:
Pink: of a color intermediate between red and white, as of coral or salmon; (of wine) rosé; (informal) (often derogatory) having or showing left-wing tendencies; of or associated with gay people
Peach: a round stone fruit with juicy yellow flesh and downy pinkish-yellow skin; a pinkish-yellow color like that of a peach; the Chinese tree that bears peaches; (informal) an exceptionally good or attractive person or thing
#sorry for being late again#at this point i dont know if i need to say why cos its almost always the same reason: accidentally falling asleep#which is the case this time#as for what happened today i met with our executive director for quite a few reasons#but pretty much the main one was for me to talk to her about how my supervisor has been treating me as of late#(specifically the past couple of months but especially this past week)#cos making me cry once and nearly making me cry another time right as im about to head to court for a hearing with a client is fucked up#and not at all how we should be treating each other (especially supervisors to their subordinates) at a domestic violence agency#and it seems like my supervisor is being so passive aggressive and outright mean to me because my coworker got fired#(shes shown favouritism toward that coworker)#(and im worried she thinks i got him fired when i was only one of many people to bring up to our executive director)#(the ways in which he was harming clients and doing things that are prohibited in our employee handbook)#but my conversation with our executive director went extremely well and made me feel validated and heard and safe/comfy#when it comes to the prompt i know it seems a little redundant or too straightforward#but there is something about it that strikes me as it being mystical or almost cottagecore in a way#it is very aesthetically pleasing to me and the feeling i get from it is nice#i just have absolutely no idea what to write about still#so im hoping something comes to me in due time#thanks for reading#writing#writer#creative writing#writing prompt#writeblr#trying to be a writeblr at least
