Kopaka: more curious about tastes than eager to eat, he collects them kind of like cards. Big fan of fatty meat of any kind, will devour it without even noticing. Not that big on vegetables

Pohatu: would eat cardboard if vaguely salted. Has a fondness for anything vaguely dumpling- or pie-like, and he likes offering bites to others before scarfing the whole thing down his throat

Gali: same as Pohatu, though she prefers veggies and fish and seafood and slugs and algae and bite sized fruits like grapes or berries. Shes really likes jello for some reason too

Onua: same as Pohatu and Gali but hes more of a bread and potatoes guy. Can and will carve out a pumpkin with his bare hands and eat it in one sitting if left unsupervised

Lewa: finally someone NORMAL about food!! Prefers slimy things like mushrooms and eels or juice-heavy fruit, but otherwise will try a bit of everything. Likes stuff fried or steamed

Tahu: very sensitive to consistency, too soft foods trigger his gag reflex. Likes nuts, raw veggies, insects, crayfish, lobsters, crabs, burnt stuff... Not as resistant to spices as you'd think

Jaller: the Capsaicin Conqueror, bites into ghost peppers unscathed. Soup savorer, with time will be able to whip out broths that could make Vakama Metru forgive himself

Hahli: mussels!! Oysters!! Clams!! Sea urchins!! Squids!! Octopi!! Big noodle slurper who canNOT handle sauce. She will get it Everywhere. Enjoyer of endives and hater of seasonings

Nuparu: genuinely cannot handle chewing so aside form jello everything needs to be blended into a smoothie. He slams back concoctions that would make a Makuta shiver. Taste is optional

Hewkii: could eat through the cheese caves if released within them. Hates seafood but everything else is fair game. Has tried Nuparu's horrible smoothies and survived several times

Kongu: texture is a big factor and he cant handle too slimy or too fatty things bc of this. Likes acidic or bitter flavors, sauces, dried fruit, and bugs. Refuses to eat poultry

Matoro: the concept of "doomed by the narrative" be damned my boy can hunt game and work a grill

Whenua: slurper of worms... Big fan of turnips for some reason. Its hard for him to find anything he doesnt like really

Nuju: loves poultry and butter and fish and berries and nuts... Stews... Creamy soups... God he loves eating. He could do it for hours

Vakama: vegetables and small game, cooked underground or boiled. Eats spiders by reflex for reasons you can imagine

Matau: LOVES poached eggs. Herbs n spices n fruits are his favorite. Unusual meats for him, like frogs and lizards

Nokama: will bite through any shell and bone no problem. Discovers a taste for bone marrow. Very picky with vegetables

Takanuva: if it were up to him he would eat only sweet things. lactose intolerant. Will that stop him from scarfing down gallons of cream? No babey!!!

Sushi & Seafood Buffet

To celebrate one’s birthday, came to this buffet. The counters have many variety of food��. Mostly sushi and seafood. Also some meat, vegetables, and dessert. There are vending machines for drinks and ice creams🍨. Include a table of cakes and cream puffs🍰. Can grab a plate under the counters and pick the food we like🍽. End up filling 4 full plate of food. Have eaten squid🦑, crab🦀, lobster🦞, clams, octopus, shrimp🦐, beef ribs🥩, lamb legs, chicken wings🍗, spring rolls, fried chicken, bok choy🥬, lo mien, crab meat slices, oyster🦪, and crayfish. For sushi🍣, like the salmon, tuna, avocado, and unagi. Lastly, eaten a plate of melon🍈, watermelon🍉, pineapple🍍, cream puffs, and cake slices. There are drinks of beverages, milk tea, bubble tea🧋, fruit tea, and Thai tea. Counters have authentic soup. Can ask for a small hot pot🍲, to cook raw food directly. Very full and overwhelming. Elrond, still fairly new to Amon Ereb, learns some botany and gets to know Maedhros a little better. Rated G.

Autumn had come to the south of Beleriand. Beneath the fiery canopy of the forest, the creeks and streams were beginning to run cold, and the rabbits, deer, and pheasants walked abundant among the trees. A group of men, too, were moving carefully through the undergrowth. There were seven of them -- five fully grown men and two small, dark-haired boys. Four of the men bore plain bows and serviceable blades; the fifth, who was the tallest, carried only a sword. The boys were unarmed, but they walked in the center of the group where they could be easily protected by the others.

Now and then the men paused. One or another would point something out to the boys -- a clump of fur caught on a bramble, an animal’s faint footprint just visible in the dirt. Twice, the burliest of the men knelt down and slowly strung a looped wire about a peg, which he then buried in the soft earth. The boys watched raptly, their grey eyes bright and intent.

“This time you try,” Halfion said when the group next stopped, handing Elros a length of thin wire. “Do it just like I showed you.”

Elros caught his lower lip between his teeth and began to bend the wire, his small fingers shaking slightly. It took a little time, but eventually he managed to form one end into a tightly-wrapped loop. He then slid the other end through and held up the makeshift noose.

Halfion nodded approvingly and then turned his gaze to Elrond. “You secure it to the peg,” he instructed.

Elrond took the wire from Elros and fastened it to the wood, his own hands much steadier than his brother’s. Then he tugged on it to be certain it was firmly attached.

“Very good,” Halfion said. He set the snare and then stood. “We’ll circle back tomorrow or the day after and check for more rabbits.”

Elrond smiled. While Elros would happily eat perch or charr every day if he could, Elrond had developed a taste for rabbit since coming to Amon Ereb. Stewed, braised, roasted, fried -- however it was cooked, he loved it, though a stew that was thick with meat and root vegetables was probably his favorite dish. Hopefully that was what they would eat tonight. Malnas had brought a camping oven, and they had already retrieved four rabbits from traps they had set yesterday and the day before.

This wasn’t Elrond’s first trip into the forest. Maglor had taken him and Elros out several times in the spring and summer, teaching them to fish in the streams and pluck crayfish from the small pools. But this trip was different. They had been away for a week already, far longer than the two- and three-day stretches they were used to, and in addition to fishing they were learning to set snares.

For the first time, too, Maedhros and Doronel had joined the usual trio of Maglor, Malnas, and Halfion in chaperoning them. On a longer trip, Maglor had explained, a larger group would be safer, and with more people they would be able to carry more game back to the fortress.

Elrond had been nervous at first. He and Elros knew Doronel well enough; the soldier always had a kind word for them when they crossed paths, and he had taught them both to do handstands last winter. But Maedhros remained something of an unknown. When Elrond and his brother had first been taken to Amon Ereb, Maglor had asked them not to trouble Maedhros, and the boys had obeyed. Three years had passed since then, and they still knew very little about Fëanor’s eldest son.

He was the tallest man Elrond had ever seen. He had copper-red hair. Like most of the House of Finwë, he had grey eyes, though his were a darker shade than his brother’s. He spent many nights awake, wandering the halls of Amon Ereb. And something terrible had happened to him a long time ago, something that had robbed him of his right hand and left his skin horribly scarred. But what that something was, Elrond didn’t know, nor was he brave enough to ask.

Still, over the past week he had grown more at ease in the man’s presence. Maedhros was often quiet, yet he was still commanding, and when he had something to say he spoke without hesitation. He was frequently the first to spot the signs of their prey, for his eyes and ears were uncommonly sharp. He could set cunning snares with his lone hand in a way that was truly impressive, and Elrond had yet to grow tired of watching him do it. And he stood guard every night rather than sleep, much to Maglor’s dismay.

Thus far there had been little to guard against. Though Elrond knew that orcs still roamed the forest, the hunting party had yet to encounter any -- something for which Elrond was truly grateful. He had never seen an orc, but he had heard stories both from Maglor and, years ago, from the survivors of Gondolin, the birth city of the father Elrond barely remembered. He did not want to see an orc, and he hoped that the group’s good luck would hold for the rest of the trip.

Packing some of the extra fish to go along with bread, the three of you head down to the river running through peaches and ranchers orchid. It’s pretty big, not as big as ebott’s main rivers, but more than enough for some medium sized boats to float through easily. Fishers eyes widen in delight at the look of it

Peaches had worked hard making his farms section of river pretty. There’s a large bank with clearly homemade wooden picnic tables and rocks set around in a circle with a fire pit in the center. Fruit trees are close to the bank providing a lot of shade and he’s planted attractive aquatic plants all along the edges of the river. There’s even a little dock perfect for fishing

Hunter is a total carnivore.

Eversince the bloodtwins were upgraded to eat food like the other animatronics, Hunter has been on a quest to try every meat he legally could.

Hunter's tried beef, pork, venison, elk, horse, bison, goat, mutton, kangaroo, armadillo, squirrel, rabbit, groundhog, bear, chicken, turkey, pigeon, duck, goose, pheasant, ostrich, emu, alligator, frog, tuna, tilapia, salmon, alaskan cod, haddock, snapper, catfish, eel, crab, lobster, crayfish, oysters, calamari, shrimp, crickets, grasshoppers, and fried tarantulas(Chica, Pigpatch, Monty, Freddy, and Happyfrog don't mind Hunter eating the meat of the animals they're based on because they know they're robots and not actual animals.)

Hunter will never try scorpions because Scythe owns one as a pet and it makes him feel self-conscious about it.

Hunter doesn't really like plants. He finds them bland and boring, especially compared to meat. Scythe will always have to talk Hunter into eating his fruits and vegetables.

At the spot that Elise speared her first butterfish of the day, Elise paused on the surface. She just floated for a while, breathing through her snorkel, looking down at the reef's edge. The top of the reef here was only 2 or 3 meters below the surface of the water. The kelp and sea grass were swaying in the currents, like grasses blowing in the wind. Then, Elise grabbed my shoulder. I looked at her and she made a gesture to me - she pointed two fingers at her own eyes, then pointed her two fingers at my eyes, then pointed down at a fish swimming through the kelp and sea grass on the reef's edge. Then, she pointed at me, then she made a finger pistol towards the fish. I interpreted that gesture to mean, "Adam, look at that fish. You shoot that fish!" I got really excited and also a little flustered. I grabbed my speargun, I gulped a big breath of air, then I dove down 2 or 3 meters so that I was near the fish. I lifted my spear gun, took aim, lined up the shot, and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened! AGH! I'd forgotten to turn the safety off! I looked at my speargun, turned the safety off, and when I looked up, the fish had disappeared into the kelp and sea grass. Aw man! It was gone! I'd missed my chance. I swam back up to the surface, and Elise told me that it was a butterfish. She said that butterfish like to hang out in the kelp and sea grass on reef edges. She said that the butterfish will come out only if I act like I don't care about it. So I pretended like I wasn't watching for the butterfish. I did my best to act casual and swim around without looking like I had the intention of hunting the butterfish. After a minute or two, it worked! The butterfish came back out of the kelp and sea grass and just slowly started swimming along the reef's edge. I knew this was my chance. I breathed slowly and calmly, taking a big breath of air before diving down. I dove down to about 3 or 4 meters, still pretending like I didn't care about the butterfish. I slowly and calmly lifted up the speargun. I lined up the shot (making sure that the safety was off) and pulled the trigger. I was elated when my spear pierced through the butterfish. I looked up and saw Elise on the surface, looking down at me, screaming and cheering for me! I swam up to the surface and showed Elise my catch. She was so happy for me! I was so happy!

Elise showed me how to use a dive knife to kill the fish, so that it doesn't suffer. She showed me how to cut along the fish's belly and pull out the guts. Once I'd done that, I put the butterfish in my float boat. We said a thank you to the fish for feeding us. I was so stoked to have caught a fish! I had kind of given up because I couldn't dive deep. And Elise knew that, so she specifically had been looking for fish that were hanging out in shallow reefs. We swam back to the beach, and Elise caught a pigfish on the way back. She found another crayfish in a hole, and this second crayfish was bigger than the first, so she let the first crayfish go free. We got out on the beach, dragged our float boats up out of the water, and celebrated a successful dive! Elise had caught two butterfish, a goatfish, a pigfish, and a crayfish. And I caught one butterfish.

We cooked the crayfish on the cobb on the beach. We were so hungry that we couldn't wait for the crayfish to finish cooking, so we cooked up a couple fried eggs and ate that while the crayfish was still cooking. Finally, when the crayfish was done cooking, we devoured it in such a feral way. It was SOOOOOOOOOO TASTY!!! It was one of the tastiest meals I've ever eaten! That crayfish was so yummy, and we were both so hungry. After demolishing the crayfish, we cooked more fried eggs. Then, we went to fillet our fish that we caught. Elise showed me how to fillet a fish.

We threw our scraps into the bin, and some lady came up to us and yelled at us for throwing our fish scraps in the bin. Elise was very respectful to the lady and offered to take our fish scraps out of the bin. The lady's attitude switched immediately. The lady started being nice to us, and even showed us a different way to fillet our fish! We brought our filleted fish back to the beach where we'd left the cob. We cooked the goat fish on the cob, and once it finished cooking, we picked all the meat off it with our fingers in the most feral way.

Elise told me I looked like Gollum as I crouched over the fish, picking at the bones, ripping any bits of meat off the fish skeleton that I could. I even tried one of the eyeballs! After cleaning the dishes, we went back to the tent for a little siesta. We packed up our campsite and started our drive back to Auckland.

We departed Matauri Bay just after 8 pm, and we stopped for dinner along the way. We found a place that serves pizza, burgers, and Indian food. Elise and I split a chicken korma dish with rice and naan and mango lassi. I drove the whole way home, and Elise napped in the car. We got back to Piha at 2 am! I don't even remember falling asleep. I was so tired when we got back to Piha, I think I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I'm grateful for Elise. I'm grateful to wake up on a gorgeous beach with Elise. I'm grateful to go diving and spearfishing with her. I'm grateful to Elise for teaching me how to spearfish and how to free dive. I'm grateful for all the fish and crayfish that she caught for me to share with my flatmates. I'm grateful to Elise for the DELICIOUS crayfish she cooked up. I'm grateful for the experience to cook and eat the freshest of crayfish and goatfish right there on the beach! I'm grateful for a PERFECT day and a PERFECT weekend trip with Elise.
