From the Freedom Flotilla, April 27 2024:
On Thursday afternoon, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition was contacted by the Guinea Bissau International Ships Registry (GBISR), requesting an inspection of our lead ship – Akdenez. This was a highly unusual request as our ship had already passed all required inspections; nevertheless, we agreed. The inspector arrived on Thursday evening. On Friday afternoon, before the inspection was completed, the GBISR, in a blatantly political move, informed the Freedom Flotilla Coalition that it had withdrawn the Guinea Bissau flag from two of the Freedom Flotilla’s ships, one of which is our cargo ship, already loaded with over 5000 tons of life-saving aid for the Palestinians of Gaza. In its communication informing us of this cancelation, the GBISR made specific reference to our planned mission to Gaza. It also made several extraordinary requests for information, including confirmation of the ships’ destination, any potential additional port calls, and the discharge port for humanitarian aid and estimated arrival dates and times. It further demanded a formal letter explicitly approving the transportation of humanitarian aid and a complete manifest of the cargo. Again, this is a highly unusual move from a flagging authority. Normally, national flagging authorities concern themselves only with safety and related standards on vessels bearing their flag, and are not concerned with the destination, route, cargo manifests or the nature of a specific voyage. Just like when you register your car, the authorities don’t require you to detail to them every place you are going to go with the car. Sadly, Guinea-Bissau has allowed itself to become complicit in Israel’s deliberate starvation, illegal siege and genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Israel is showing the world the extent to which it will go to deny Palestinians the aid they need to stay alive, in direct contravention of International Humanitarian Law, UN Security Council resolutions, and two orders of the International Court of Justice. [...] without a flag, we cannot sail. But, this is not the end. Israel cannot and will not crush our resolve to break its illegal siege and reach the people of Gaza. The people of Gaza and all of Palestine remain steadfast under the most horrific, unimaginable conditions. We take strength from their incredible, inexplicable ability to maintain their humanity, dignity and hope when the world has given them no reason to do so. It is our responsibility to keep that hope alive. WE WILL SAIL.
The Freedom Flotilla, which was set to depart from Turkey on the 27th of April with 5000 tons of life-saving aid, has now been delayed because Israel and the United States has pressured Guinea Bissau to withdraw its flag from the Flotilla's lead ship.
Seeing as how their tactics worked on Guinea Bissau, organizers now fear that Israel and the US will exert the same pressure on whichever country the Freedom Flotilla attempt to register their ship under next.
To help the Freedom Flotilla reach Gaza, please keep an eye out for further updates from the organizers. Right now, as of April 27th, they're asking people to help boost their visibility, and to donate to their member campaigns.
For more info, see their webpage.

From a follower:
Please sign this petition to the Irish government to register the Freedom Flotilla under the Irish flag. You do not need to be an Irish citizen, but if you are, please indicate so in the relevant answer box.
The Freedom Flotilla is carrying tons of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. However, the country which had registered the main ship under its flag has inexplicably revoked the registration. The Flotilla is asking for the government of Ireland to register the ship under the Irish flag so that it may legally resume its journey. More information is available at the link, but here is a brief excerpt:
We are calling on the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan, as a Qualified person under "The Mercantile Marine Act, 1955, as amended by the Merchant Shipping
(Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1998, and Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act, 2006" To Register the Freedom Flotilla ships as an Irish ships and allow it to sail to Gaza under the Irish Flag!

GUINEA BISSAU BENDS TO ISRAELI PRESSURE BY BLOCKING FREEDOM FLOTILLA
The "Freedom Flotilla" aiming to deliver desperately needed aid to starving civilians in Gaza, without the coordination or approval of the Israeli occupation, has been blocked from sailing by Guinea-Bissau officials on Saturday.
Organizers of the flotilla blamed Israeli pressure for the decision by Guinea-Bissau authorities to deny the Turkish humanitarian organization, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, the use of two of its ships they'd planned on sailing hundreds of tonnes of aid to Gaza in.
The group said Guinea-Bissau authorities asked for "extraordinary requests" for detailed information on the planned trip, while Israeli security officials prepared plans for their expected arrival in the coming days.
Previously, a similar flotilla was organized in 2010 which set sail for Gaza from Antalya, Turkiye, during which the Israeli occupation forces raided the ship, killing 10 people and wounding 28 others.

Around 5,000 tons of aid bound for Gaza has been blocked by Turkish authorities, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition has said, with one of the group’s vessels stranded in the port town of Haydarpaşa and waiting for approval to head to the besieged enclave.
Freedom Flotilla Coalition has been confined to the Turkish port for more than 45 days, despite passing all the necessary checks to depart for Gaza, the group has said.
The aim of the flotilla is not only to deliver desperately needed aid to Gaza but also to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave which is on the verge of famine.

I have said it before: Israel is the psycho bully and The US is the parent that’s determined to not let their spoiled child face the consequences for their actions. They’re desperate now if they bully any and all authority to prevent us from changing the status quo of Gaza. And to anyone asking”why don’t they just share the information on where they will be docking in Gaza?” It’s because they can’t! If they give that information to Israel then the IDF will know where and when there will be large masses of Palestinians waiting for food and medicine. It would be the flour massacre times every docking the freedom flotilla has to do in Gaza! So I at least believe they have a right to not disclose that kind of info to the settler colony that is actively trying to wipe out the native population!

The Freedom Flotilla supporting Gaza is about to launch...
Activist Sarah Wilkinson says in a video clip filmed from Istanbul that the Freedom Flotilla's journey, which will head to Gaza to break the siege, is about to begin, and that the journey will take place thanks to the donations of 4 million people.
Activist Sarah Wilkinson points out that if the Freedom Flotilla had not arrived, Israel would have kidnapped them.

Palestinian writer Susan Abulhawa visited Gaza twice this year between February and May, witnessing firsthand the unimaginable scale of Israel’s actions. Based on statistics from the WHO, scientific literature detailing morbidity and mortality data for various conditions in Gaza, Abulhawa uses math to estimate a staggering reality: while the official death toll stalled at 30,000 for months before climbing to 37,000, they grossly underestimate the true death toll. These figures only account for identified victims of ‘direct fire’. Hundreds of thousands more remain uncounted—unidentified bodies or body parts, those who died due to a lack of medicine and healthcare, those buried by their loved ones without getting to hospital, those who starved to death, those trapped under the rubble, those who succumbed to torture while abducted by the IOF and/or those missing.
Due to constant bombardment, countless families have been forced to bury loved ones where ever they can without formal recognition by going through the hospital systems. Meanwhile, those systems and hospital employees have been decimated, meaning that reporting accurate numbers is nearly impossible.
Understanding the historical context is crucial: this isn’t a response but a deliberate plan to dismantle Gaza, exploit its resources, and erase its Indigenous people. The underreported death toll—ranging from 193,000 to over 500,000— demands urgent attention and action. Raise awareness and demand justice. Share and spread the word.

Activists on aid flotilla say US is pressuring Turkey to prevent them from sailing to Gaza.
May the US government watch as all they've worked for fall apart.
Don't fall for their meaningless threats and bribery; they're akin to the foams of the wave that rises in the ocean yet scatters and fades as it reaches the shore: as they fade and get soaked up into nothingness.
May the people succeed!

Israel is only allowed to get away with this because we have an international order where law does not apply equally, where people are not valued the same, and where might equals right. The US has hijacked international law and is violating its own laws to protect Israel at every turn. A recently-leaked USAID memo states that “famine in Gaza is inevitable,” and that “changes could reduce but not stop widespread civilian deaths.” It also states that the government of Israel does not currently demonstrate necessary compliance with U.S. law required to receive U.S. military aid. Nevertheless, last week, the U.S. Congress passed and Biden signed a $26 billion aid package for Israel. It is this kind of naked impunity, over decades, that has brought us to this point where Israel can carry out a genocide, that includes a public declaration by Israel’s leaders that it is going to deliberately starve children, and not only face no consequences, but also involve a majority of world governments in its crimes. While our governments claim to care about Palestinian lives, they are complying, and indeed enforcing a situation where a state that has been found to be plausibly committing a genocide, is allowed to control what, if any life-saving aid gets to the people trying to stay alive.Yesterday, the UN Special Rapporteurs on the Right to Food, on the Right to Housing, and on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, issued a statement stating that civil society initiatives like the Freedom Flotilla are important precisely because governments are not complying with their obligations under international law and many of these governments are even complicit in Israel’s siege and genocide. The statement affirmed that ours was a legitimate challenge to Israel’s control over the delivery of aid to Gaza and it demanded safe passage for our flotilla. However, without a flag, we cannot sail. But, this is not the end. Israel cannot and will not crush our resolve to break its illegal siege and reach the people of Gaza. The people of Gaza and all of Palestine remain steadfast under the most horrific, unimaginable conditions. We take strength from their incredible, inexplicable ability to maintain their humanity, dignity and hope when the world has given them no reason to do so.It is our responsibility to keep that hope alive. Posted @withregram • @anthony.depice @palestinianyouthmovement: SETTING SAIL FOR GAZA: With 4 ships, 1000 crew members, and over 5000 tons of supplies, the 2024 Freedom Flotilla to Gaza will be the largest of its kind to ever attempt to break Israel’s siege.
Following months of preparation, logistical coordination, and recruitment efforts, the 2024 Gaza Freedom Flotilla is ready to set sail. This week, a crew of around 1,000 people will attempt what their governments have so far lacked the courage or conviction to do: they will try to break Israel’s 17 year blockade of Gaza in order to deliver life-saving food, medicine, and supplies to millions of Palestinians living under siege.
Multiple flotillas have previously attempted to break the siege, most notably, the Mavi Marmara in 2010, a ship that Israeli Occupation Forces raided before going on to kill 10 of the crew members aboard. The hope in 2024 is that the flotilla’s much larger size, and the unprecedented international pressure on Israel, will prevent a similar outcome.
Israel has issued warnings regarding the current flotilla set to sail this week. Crew members have declared their intent to sail anyway. People of conscience everywhere, and most of all Palestinians in Gaza themselves, are saluting their bravery and determination.
As Palestinians in Gaza wait to receive the flotilla, it is incumbent upon us to do everything in our power to protect those aboard. We must escalate our mobilization efforts, from wherever we are, to demand the safe passage of the flotilla to the shores of Gaza.
1,000 crew members — and 2.3 million Palestinians under siege in Gaza — are depending on us to step up our mobilization efforts in order to ensure their safe crossing to Occupied Palestine. It is our duty to heed their call

This isn't the first time. Back in 2010 the Freedom Flotilla for Gaza turned into a massacre when the IOF murdered 10 of the participants and imprisoned the rest. This time they can't even get out of Turkey due to 1 bogus delay after another. They are trying to bring food and desperately needed supplies to those in Gaza.
