Posted @withregram • @anthony.depice @palestinianyouthmovement: SETTING SAIL FOR GAZA: With 4 ships, 1000 crew members, and over 5000 tons of supplies, the 2024 Freedom Flotilla to Gaza will be the largest of its kind to ever attempt to break Israel’s siege.

Following months of preparation, logistical coordination, and recruitment efforts, the 2024 Gaza Freedom Flotilla is ready to set sail. This week, a crew of around 1,000 people will attempt what their governments have so far lacked the courage or conviction �to do: they will try to break Israel’s 17 year blockade of Gaza in order to deliver life-saving food, medicine, and supplies to millions of Palestinians living under siege.

Multiple flotillas have previously attempted to break the siege, most notably, the Mavi Marmara in 2010, a ship that Israeli Occupation Forces raided before going on to kill 10 of the crew members aboard.The hope in 2024 is that the flotilla’s much larger size, and the unprecedented international �pressure on Israel, will prevent a similar outcome.

Israel has issued warnings regarding the current flotilla set to sail this week. Crew members have declared their intent to sail anyway. People of conscience everywhere, and most of all Palestinians in Gaza themselves, are saluting their bravery and determination.

As Palestinians in Gaza wait to receive the flotilla, it is incumbent upon us to do everything in our power to protect those aboard. We must escalate our mobilization efforts, from wherever we are, to demand the safe passage of the flotilla to the shores of Gaza.

1,000 crew members — and 2.3 million Palestinians under siege in Gaza — are depending on us to step up our mobilization efforts in order to ensure their safe crossing to Occupied Palestine. It is our duty to heed their call

A global day for peace is absolutely necessary, especially in a time as now. We will undoubtably hear a lot of empty overtures to our Veterans today by politicians who have done barely anything to support the men and women returning home from the wars they start. I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.

During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.
