“People like Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage said there would be no downsides to leaving the EU. What we got was a smaller economy, less trade, less choice, dearer food and clothing and more complex and more expensive travel.
“Brexit is a national tragedy, but it can be reversed. We need to rejoin the single European market, as the first step to getting back what the Brexit side duped people into giving up.”
Special place in hell …..

I'm reblogging this again to add to it, for almost all of history you could go and live wherever you liked, you could just walk there and nobody would care, people don't realise how new and arbitrary the borders we have in the modern day are. You can't tell me you can look at this map and instantly know where every border goes, nobody could do that because they're arbitrary:
Tumblr media
I often think about these maps without country borders, this is what the world once looked like to a person travelling, you could walk from the Urals to the Strait of Gibraltar without encountering any official governing body and especially no border checkpoints. You wouldn't even be able to tell when you crossed a border (if we're in a time period when there were one). Borders are an unnatural invention, and an incredibly recent one, it wasn't really until after the 1st World War countries began introducing them.
We should welcome people where we live, I am even in favour of helping people get here. I'm so annoyed that the government of the place where I live is currently engaging in active and passive denial of people to come here which will result in many of their deaths, even when they're fleeing oppressive regimes. Not to mention especially in recent years how the media has managed to successfully manipulated even the liberals into believing there's "just to many people here".
I feel so sick of hearing over the last couple of years from the apparent "political sensibles" and liberals claiming "I care and want to welcome people, but we're just accepting too many". I understand it's a matter of media manipulation but if you find yourself telling yourself that I really want you to look inward and question it more, whatever barrier you think there is to accepting everyone who wants to come here just does not exist. I am certain any conditions you can think of are consequences of the society we have built around us and not inherent to where you live, it may require work and investment, but this is what many societies need today regardless, and we can accept more people.

btw now is the best time to keep boycotting. the israeli economy has never been weaker. don't stop the protests or the demands for divestment. keep supporting organisations like the Hind Rajab Foundation and the Accountability Archive. ofc don't stop boosting and donating to Palestinians as Gaza is still uninhabitable.
enjoy this moment but the work has not ended

CANZUK
Tumblr media
CANZUK (Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom) are nations where the cultures of all four countries are extremely similar and they share the same language. All four are liberal democracies based on parliamentary systems including a constitutional monarchy. All four are multi-cultural and multi-ethnic with a rich fabric of peoples. Within a CANZUK agreement, each country would keep their de facto sovereignty and have the independence to draft its own laws. Each would negotiate their own trade agreements with other nations. Current alliances such as NATO would remain as is. Features of CANZUK: Free movement of workers, and students Access to national healthcare via reciprocal agreements Recognition & transferability to all universities/colleges Recognition of all trade certifications Job swapping to gain further skills Joint military training and procurement including manufacturing of military hardware Joint business ventures and financial partnerships Joint research and development in medicine and sciences

to any americans who feel "paralyzed" and "dont know what to do" to help with gaza:
reading a fucking book. i beg of you.
in a time of knowledge suppression is it your duty to arm yourself with knowledge.
read about americas occupations in the middle east.
read about 9/11 from outside of america and see how they inflicted senseless harm and violence to countless amounts of people and have been suppressing your rights for the past 2 fucking decades.
read about any of the countless wars from the past 30 years. especially from a civilian's. and the victims and survivors' perspective. listen to the horror stories and do not plug your fucking ears as to what your country is doing.
and read about fucking gaza and palestine and keep up with what is happening no matter how "sad" or "uncountable" you might get.
dont look away from this.
you dont have the right to be comfortable during countless active genocides.
if you're knowledgeable, you're powerful, and our current state doesnt fucking want that.
you have the power to change things if you open your eyes and scream to the world.
wake the fuck up.
Edit: please check the reblogs there are readings and ways to help

London’s biggest screening party for the Eurovision Song Contest finals has been canceled, the venue Rio Cinema and organizer Eurovision Party London have said. “Following discussion with the organizers of Eurovision Party London, we have collectively decided not to screen the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest this year while Israel remains in the competition,” the Rio Cinema said in a statement on X. “The Eurovision Party London has been a beloved partner of The Rio Cinema for many years, and we will continue to work with them in the future. We firmly believe that the Eurovision Song Contest has the power to bring people together across the world, and when its core values of inclusivity, equality and universality are upheld, it can be a genuine force for good. With its own slogan in mind, we hope that we can all be United By Music again soon. We will continue to organize fundraising events for the charities we support, including Doctors Without Borders and Medical Aid for Palestine.”

BOYCOTT ISRAEL!
Got this flyer from a pro-Palestine march today. Make sure to boycott all these businesses that are funding the genocide Israel is still committing in Gaza right now.

people need to realize that what’s going on with palestine and israel isn’t about anyone being jewish.
there are jewish palestinians, muslim palestinians, christian palestinians being trapped in what is essentially an open air prison for children and the elderly with no food, water, or electricity just because they’re palestinian.
this is about colonization, and unfortunately so many people are falling for the blatant propaganda being turned out by an apartheid government (israel).
the only solution to stop all this violence is to give palestine their land back. that is the solution.
