Amal's story

Amal is 26 years old and lives in Gaza. She is the mother one 1-year-old Maryam, and before the war she was in the process of getting her master's degree in French language.

In October 2023, Amal, her husband, and their daughter had to evacuate their home and move to the south, where they lived with friends for a few months.

In January 2024, the family had to move to Rafah to live in a tent, in terrible conditions. Since then, they have been displaced several times.

Amal's family need funds to survive. Little Maryam needs to be fed and cared for, and right now even the basics are unaffordable to them.

I have been talking with Amal (@amalashuor), and they still need a little over 18,000€ to reach their goal. In light of what we've been able to achieve together in terms of mutual aid since this genocide started, I'd say 18k is easily doable.

We don't ask that you donate exorbitant amounts of money, but if we all give 5€ then we can get there fast.

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraise on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. For those not tapped into Australian politics, King Charles is in Australia to conduct his "historic first tour to the commonwealth realm" i.e visting countries that King Charles is supposedly a monarch to.

Indigenous senator Lidia Thorpe had requested an audience with King Charles for weeks prior to this visit, she wrote countless letters to speak to him. Unlike other commonwealth nations and other former Brisitish colonies, a treaty with Indigenous peoples in Australia was never formed. Their land was never ceded to the British Crown. After being denied and ignored, Lidia Thorpe, draped in a traditional possum skin cloak, stormed in the Great Hall during the reception for Charles at Parliament House in the capital shouting the following:

Siraj's story

Since the start of the genocide in October, Siraj and his family of 5 (his wife and 3 kids) have been displaced 6 times. Like many other Gazans, they are now living in a cramped tent without basic necessities like food and water.

Conditions in the area are unhygienic, and the collapse of Gaza's healthcare system means that if they were to become sick, they likely would not be able to get treated. His children are unable to attend school because of the genocide, and instead of learning and playing as they usually would they now spend their time doing difficult tasks, like walking long distances to get drinking water.

Because their home was destroyed in airstrikes, Siraj began his GFM to cover the cost of rebuilding his family's home. He and his wife want to repair the damage that was done to their lives and their children's lives, and the first step is building their home again.

Siraj's fundraiser is new and it is legitimate, but it is low on funds with only $10k/82k (CAD), just 8% of their goal.

Please donate what you can to his fundraiser; if you don't have the means, send his link to someone in your life who you know does. Reblog his posts and share his fundraiser with others! Let's get Siraj and his family to their goal as quickly as we possibly can.

Hello everyone, thank you for taking a moment to read our story.

I am Hazem Shawish, and I am trying to save my family from this war.

We live in Gaza, where we face significant challenges due to the current situation.

My family consists of 11 members, including my mother, two daughters, four sons, and three children.

In the shadow of conflict, our family has faced unimaginable hardships. The passing of my father, a victim to the cruel grasp of hunger and inadequate healthcare, left a void in our lives, underscoring the fragility of our existence here. My brother, Samer, battles bipolar disorder, a condition exacerbated by the ongoing war and the severe shortage of essential medications. Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.

Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. We hold onto hope, believing that one day the clouds will dissipate, and we will find the peace we long for.

Our home, which was a sanctuary for us, was destroyed, forcing us to live in a state of uncertainty and fear. We have lost the laughter of our children.

We also face psychological challenges, as we have lost our father, and my brother Samer, who needs expensive medical treatment, is facing imminent danger. My mother, who has endured so much, fears losing another child. We are all suffering from malnutrition and contaminated water.

We dream of moving to Egypt to find safety, where our children can pursue their education.

We seek your support as individuals who understand the value of compassion and community.
