Remember in Undertale when you try to sell your items to the bunny girl and she's like "This is a shop, not a pawn shop." And that becomes a bit at every shop (minus the tem shop) and we're all like "Wow! It is kind of strange how normal it is in games for you to be able to just sell things wherever to whoever. What a funny running gag based on the absurdities of video game tropes!" Okay well do you also remember in Disco Elysium when you're at the Frittte shop and you keep asking the clerk to explain things to you and it's obvious you're annoying her and she doesn't know or care about the lore behind the items she's just the clerk who sells stuff? It's the same kind of fun jab at the genre, and a fun jab at You for having certain expectations, that's part of why I think these games are comparable, equal and opposite. They're two sides of the intersection of "Video Game" and "Real Life", but also about relationships. The comparison is at time dubious, at times a little stretching, a little too vague and too broad, but I think there's something to comparing the two, because they both represent two very different kinds of story driven computer RPG's. One has more of an emphasis on world building, one has more of an emphasis on character building, but they both use both aspects to compliment each other by connecting characters to the world, it's a fun study and I could just go on about it. I'll bite the bullet and get a video editing software sometime, I got a fresh new computer with storage to work with so maybe I'll get on that sometime. Once I've made a coherent and compelling point about it I won't have to think about it ever again.

The amount of comments I see on youtube under Half-Life soundtrack videos that are like “The year is 2033, at E3, Gabe Newell and the entire Valve team are on stage and talking about their history and moving into the future, when suddenly the lights go out and all we hear is “Mr. Freeman…” and the giant screen displays ‘Half-Life 3’”
Is honestly just sad. I applaud your optimism, but whatever the Hollow Knight fanbase and Silksong have going, you have it way way worse.

If you cannot tell, I absolutely love those little animations of Sonic characters doing those little stupid dances. Especially when the preset animations are absolutely not intended to be used for the models strange cartoony proportions.

Disco Elysium bloggers, what if you used 🫁 in place of ❤️? Instead of "hearting" something you "lung" it. You know? What if that was like a thing? What if you just casually used the lungs emoji to show you're a big Elysium Head, and when people ask "Why did you use/are you using the lungs emoji?" Just say "LUNGS ARE FOR LOVE!"

(Warning: Disco Elysium spoilers) One of the greatest twists in all of fiction is learning that René is a fucking tsundere, and it, it really recontextualizes his interactions with Gaston, because he's not just a little gay on the side, they never say that, they say "It's him." The source is Gaston. And that is like, holy shit. It's so sad to, because Gaston never finds out. You notice after René is gone Gaston is not happy anymore, in fact he's really kind of depressed now that his buddy is gone, his super secret admirer, who threw nothing but insults at him, up until the day he went and passed away. Tragic old man yaoi real in Disco Elysium.
(gawking over this story under cut)
By the way, does anyone else notice the duo theme? Like, René and Gaston, Steban and Ulixes, Harry and Kim, what other ones, but they've all got an orange thing going on? Ruby and Klassje? The character dynamics kinda make me sick to think about actually, sick like when you're eating really rich cheese cake with several deep and intricate flavors, it's almost too much, it's so dense! UUUGH! Also like, Joyce, Kim, Dros, and René are all kind of equivalent to their respective ideologies right? Ultraliberal, Moralist, Communist, and Fascist. They're disillusioned soldiers of their ideology, and their respective power shows the state of that ideology, Kim is a cop who enforces the law, Joyce is very rich and influential, René is an old decaying symbol, and Dros is utterly defeated and has no hope, nearly forgotten, and they all hold some feelings and important perspectives on the revolution and the Moralintern's actions. I so badly want to write on the character dynamics, parallels, equivalents, and do deep dives on all of them and how they relate to different themes. I have some basic outlines made of scripts and stuff but like, I want to do something deeper, like a full video series even! That's what it deserves, I need to do it justice.
Like speaking of gay characters, Ruby and Klassje's relationship, and its tragic Yuri, I need to look into that. I mean she threw her under the bus! To the pigs! That is just sad! But she didn't feel like she had a choice and it's just agh! You know? Ugh. I need to schedule some time to write on this...

That’s what I’ve been saying! This level of interconnectivity has never been achieved in all of human history, and our historical and psychological knowledge, as well as the evolutionary growth of our minds, were not ever meant to experience this kind of constant instant connection and information! It is literally something we could not comprehend before, and could not predict the disastrous psychological social and political outcomes of! It’s really insane when you think about it, being tapped in to so many minds and opinions and thoughts, and yet, you’re never really face to face with these people, and can theoretically leave whenever you want, much easier than if you were sat down in a room with hundreds of others all intently talking to each other. It’s the stream of human consciousness wrapped together, distilled, and redirected towards your location for you to endlessly explore. It’s no wonder everyone connected to the web is insane nowadays, we’ve been shown more of the true nature of human thought and comprehension than ever before, even if it is only a crumb of truth, it’s more than anyone before has ever truly experienced.
It used to be you had to go out of your way to delve into the insanity of humanity, you had to spend days reading books, years journeying across the world and talking to all kinds of people, because for the longest time, you had no way to know other than to see and hear it for yourself. But now, it comes to you. People will bring it up to you. You have to go out of your way to avoid the stream. It’s a total paradigm shift! A reversal of the roles humanity had grown so accustomed to, and it’s slowly been leading to total re-realization of everything we thought we knew, picking up steam faster and faster at a blinding rate since the 1800’s. And we’ve taken it so much for granted, the constant unending experience of truth has blinded us of the facts of truth, we’ve grown sick and tired of it, but deep down we all now know, what we can’t really put into words.
And yet, there are generations of people so accustomed to this kind of life, since it had been made so accessible and has been flourishing ever since, we cannot really appreciate the insanity and pure overwhelming presence of chaos and thought that we bring around with us everywhere. It’s absolutely insane! In an awful good way. This is a turning point in all of human history. The next 100,000 possible years will all be thanks to the 200 years of developing ways to pass information and conversation across our planet, slowly building a universe of pure thought, a virtually real world. Totally and utterly different than anything that has come before. A true paradigm shift in human development, and development of the human psyche and intellect. The death and rebirth of the human mind.
And you know what, I’m here for it. I think it’s quite wondrous and beautiful, and I feel vindicated seeing everyone realize how insane the world really is. I’m not just crazy, everything is crazy, and it’s going to get crazier. And in these crazy times, it seems like the only sane thing to do is to get naked and climb a tree, because really crazy and sane, are the same.
Courtesy of the great virtual insanity, terror of the human, life, and time, and fun fermented grape juice body-mind poison, I shout this observation and opinion into the void realm of radio waves and broken consciousness, without needing to utter a word. Silently we scream. All together, so far apart.

They have a similar energy to me tbh.
There’s an amount of pain there that no amount of pointed hand appendages or smiling can hide. And it’s kind of sad and funny.

Am I the bad one for liking when people I hate die? My great aunt passed away some months ago and my reaction to that was "Good. Fuck that cunt." Because she tried to kill me, my mom, and my Grandma/her sister with poisoned food when I was 5 and got together with some of her friends and stole all my families food and our house and my shoes when I was 6 and also bragged about helping her friends starve their less than a year old baby to death to collect some kind of insurance for the child's life and fuel the drug and alcohol addiction all three of them had. She was also paid off by the cops to snitch on other scum and paid by another organization she didn't name to keep tabs on my family, and also stole money people sent to us to help us out of our homelessness. Honestly a low life cunt and the scum of the earth. She was my mothers favorite aunt when she was growing up and my Grandma's older sister, so they were really conflicted by all of it, but me? Fuck her, and I'm glad she's probably rotting in hell. Anyway

The brainrot is so real, I looked at a pair of perfectly average looking jeans and said "Yup, -1 Half-Light, +1 Composure." Oh and that candy parlor colored button up? -2 Visual Calculus, +1 Drama. This floral tie? +1 Empathy, -1 Authority. Green-Camo rainboots? +1 Composure, +1 Shivers. I don't really even know what I mean by that, I'm pretty sure how certain clothes affect people is more dependent on them as a person then the clothes, but those clothes strike me as just having a certain stat line up. It's made me afraid to really put thought into what I'm wearing because if I do I'm probably gonna dress up like an absolute clown "For the stats" and I don't have the confidence tbh.

I always hated it in cartoons when they'd show a discarded apple that was still like 60% intact. You give an apple to me, by the time I'm done it's all gone. When I eat an apple, I never have to throw it away. It all gets eaten. As it should be.

Oof.
That's all four years old now...
Kinda hurts to read just because of how happy it reads. Like damn, who even out there had their guard up for the shit that happened at ZA/UM? No one, things were looking good, why would anyone expect anything bad? People weren't lying when they said ZA/UM died disco style.
After the news of the cancelled sequel, ironically there might be something to look forward to. Maybe the OG team will get the IP back, and there could be a little crowd funding campaign, because those are all the rage. Something good Could happen.

I don't actually have a fursona but I've been thinking of making one. I just can't decide on what its species should be between a sloth, a lynx, a black billed magpie, an acorn weevil, a fox, a turtle with a snake wrapped around it and fused together symbiotically, a Belgian Malinois, a cat, or an Alaskan snow pheasant. And that's the list after plenty of eliminations. Maybe this kind of thing just isn't meant for me though.

Been actually thinking about "A Minecraft Movie" recently, and like every broke wannabe artist thinking about a million dollar piece of creatively bankrupt waste of space in the cultural consciousness, it's about how I would've made it. Because as cliché as it is, there's still some potential in what they're going for. (That's code for "It'd be better if it was entirely different")
I wouldn't even really scrap the uncanny realistic look, what I'd do is have the half the movie be Minecraft machinima, and the other half be live action actors in a realistic Minecraft set, and it switches between the two whenever the shot/pov changed or the camera passes by a conveniently placed hill to make a super cool transition shot. I wouldn't make it a movie though, I'd make it a series made up of longer episodes with an anthology episode between each of the main episodes, the odd numbered episodes not following the main plot but one of its own by a guest director and writer entirely animated, each one with a unique style, including claymation and Lego Stopmotion! The main plot would still have the set up of real people being transported to the Minecraft world, but the main character would be an avid Minecraft player when they were younger who stopped playing when they got older and hasn't found the time to get back into it, but is the character who's most familiar with the world, still forgetting some things because it's been a while. Steve would be there too, first appearing as the protagonist of a stand alone anthology episode before being shown briefly in one of the main episodes obscured in fog as a reference to the first and most famous Herobrine sighting. Any time Steve appears, if the shot is in Live Action, it immediately switched to machinima with no change in tone. Imagine a dimly lit horrifying scene of one of the characters being attacked by a well animated grotesque giant spider, and Steve rushes in to save them and you see how goofy it looks from that perspective, but the characters are still taking it 100% seriously. All the other machinima/la switches are done in mind with the tone, but Steve has it as just a solid rule independent of that. He could have a voice actor, but you never get to see what he looks like in the live action POV. Steve's standalone episode is of course entirely in machinima. I mean I guess you could just put the special episodes in their own series and have the movie be all the main plot episodes stuck together and shortened, but as you can tell, I don't do good writing short so I would probably have to just be a co-writer or have a team of editors keeping me in check, each one kinda defeating the purpose of this thought experiment right?
The best version of A Minecraft Movie wouldn't be made by me, but if I was to say what the best version of A Minecraft Movie could be, it'd be an artistic hybrid of machinima and LA/CG/PE (Live Action, Computer Generated, Practical Effects) with a cast that represents the demographics of people who may see this movie like it already has, but with the main character being part of the demographic of people who could get the most out of it, avid Minecraft fans who have now grown up. The way the world works or how they got there or what any of the odd happenings really mean would be left up to interpretation because as important as some elements can be for narrative or thematic reasons it doesn't have to have a textbook of lore and logic to explain why. (Did you hear they tried to make the Green and Blue text that appears in the end poem actual characters in one of the spin-off games? That's so stupid) The important part of the story would be the strong emotional core of the narrative and our characters would go through a personal journey in the medium of Minecraft, their trials in the Minecraft world reflecting in some way their trials in reality and they learn not just about Minecraft but themselves through Minecraft. It could feasibly be a story told through any world made up or inspired by something, but it's in Minecraft because Minecraft is special to our main character, in fact every character should have some kind of character based reason that makes it make sense thematically why they're taking this personal journey in Minecraft. Like have an older serious character who's long since buried their childish creativity, or a youngster who hasn't been able to get in touch with their childish creativity! You could with some time, thought, and effort find some reason to have a reasonably sized cast of characters make sense from a narrative point of view to have the Minecraft Experience thrust upon them by forces beyond their comprehension (the writers). That's what I'd want it to be if I wanted it to be good anyway.
And also just fucking pay C418 royalties and let the Minecraft soundtrack be present. Licensed music to a minimum and always diagetic.

Doing some research into this OceanGate missing sub fiasco and holy shit. This is some next level rich-dumb-fuckery. These are all very important people on the sub btw. The CEO of OceanGate himself. Also the director of the company that owns the rights to The Titanic Wreckage. And members of the Pakistani Business Family. They let them get on this dumb fucking rinky-dink submarine and disappear into the void! And OceanGate has been getting professional complaints and warnings from people as far back as 2018 from what I can tell, about their unsafe and “experimental” practices. I don’t wether to scream or laugh. They’re probably dead and it would be professional and company incompetence that killed them.

My dream right now is just to find a way to combine Disco Elysium and Undertale. Like exploring the underground like it's Martinaise from an isometric perspective with DE skill based narration or something like that. Or do the classic Undertale Fangame thing of "X but Undertale" like Overtim. I feel like if I could combine these games and their storytelling into something, I could get why such completely different things feel so naturally similar. I can see the shared DNA between the two, they're very distant cousins going through paralleling arcs and I want to build a baby in their dual image. It's so easy to fail though right? Because the games are already dualities in their own right, in opposite ways. It's quite an octopus but I feel like it can be untangled.
I'm obsessed with dualities and bringing them together, all stories and all life is about dualities and bringing them together. EVERYTHING is opposite but the same. But these things especially.
When the old flame is reignited by the new one lol.
