TOTA TAKEOVER: DAY 6

(Saturday the 16th of December)

For those who aren't caught up, TOTA Takeover is a fan-created event (made by me and @jaykinarts) that aims to spread the TOTA love and fill the TOTA tag with characters other than Campbell. (Because as much as we love him, everyone else deserves love too)

Today is the sixth and final day of this event. It is not character specific - today is about appreciating the show as a whole, in whatever way you want to. It can obviously be related to a specific character, if you'd like --- the only rule is that it's about TOTA. It can be about the show, the play, a character, several characters, Donna Franceschild, etc. Today is about general appreciation and a celebration of this amazing show.

Freddy

His island theme would either space themed or have a woodsy feel. Maybe he would have one half of the island start off as woodsy, and then further into it it becomes space. His villagers are definitely bears and cubs, maybe one bunny villager as a homage to Bonnie (he's definitely got a high friendship with said bunny villager). He's definitely a good island representative, making sure he takes care of his island and is always building something. His island is before his own needs, so his house would probably only be up to the 2nd upgrade. He's willing to help out other players by giving them NMTs and bells, since he seems to be rich in that aspect. He doesn't change out any of his villagers, and he gets sad whenever one of them wants to move...

His island is 5 stars.

His villagers: Beardo, Ike, Megan, Charlise, Grizzly, Stitches, Maple, Poncho, Bluebear, and Sasha.

Chica

Her island is bright colored, mostly pastel pink, everything is cutesy and food related too. She definitely has little shops and decorations meant to represent food stands. She's just enjoys collecting pink items and coming up with new build ideas for the island. She definitely has perfect fruit as well. She's got the full DIY cook book completed, having an overabundance of recipes which she gives to players and friends for free whenever they visit. She's also great at happy home design. She's a master at the stalk market... she's got the best prices. She's a 4 star island.

Most of her villagers are birds and bunnies...

Roxy

Her island is car themed, with a big makeshift salon she created. She has a lot of clothes and hair styles, it's a fashion show every week. She has a lot of wands too. Her storage is running out of space because of how much shit she has...

She forces her villagers to stay, she likes them a lot. She dresses them up, even Barold. She's got a good friendship with Viviane, that's her girl. She's not rich like Freddy or Chica, but she's just having a good time hanging around her villagers and collecting clothing items.

Monty

His island is country swamp theme, one side is country the other swamp. He's not a good builder but he's trying, he's got a few furniture items he's using the build with. Freddy's always giving him stuff, as much as he doesn't want it. A lot of unread mail...

Bros chilling with his flimsy tools.

He's not focused too much on the island, but he likes island hopping and collecting resources, mostly visiting his friend's islands to hang out. He prefers fishing and filling out his critter encyclopedia, and filling the museum. He doesn't really play that much but when he does he chills out with his villagers and fishes. His favorite villager is Dobie. He's rocking at 2 stars, but he's in no rush to get 5 stars.

Bonnie

His island is 80s bowling themed with some space elements (...coughs). Any leftover or duplicate items Freddy had he'd nab to put on his own island, most of which were space themed. He likes island hopping most for resources and to increase profits. He's got four stars, he's trying to reach 5 stars so he can brag to Roxy (she's at 3 stars). Most of his villagers are bunnies, a few cubs, and a bear. Of course, he's gonna have the highest friendship with the bear villager because it reminds him of Freddy. He's definitely using his secluded beach as a little hangout spot for him and Freddy when he visits his island.

We miss cpc, I miss cpc and so my mind has been frolicking about somewhere and a thought occured.

What do you think CPC genderbend names would be? Like ofc Whitney fits perfectly either way. BUT I wonder, what names would work bc my brain is currently not working and conjuring up names like Fredolina and Blainia for some reason.

I'd like to say I am and will never be good at naming things, my new pokemon file is proof of that.

I'm also curious about the harder names like Calpernia, which is latin and not as popular or well used as the alternative Calpurnia which is Julius's wife. But tbh I dont wanna call male Calpernia, Julius nor Caesar.

The final episodes of the Flash look like they're, once again, focusing on Eobard and Nora Allen's death, and I'm so tired of that being rehashed. It's been rehashed to death. It's so boring and tired and I wish, wish, wish that the Bloodwork arc had gotten to be the final arc of the season, stretched over several episodes.

Imagine starting with Ramsey's escape from ARGUS - maybe a cameo from Cisco at the very least? - before cutting to the STAR Labs crew. It'd give Wally's arc time to breathe and have him actually talk about his trauma from his childhood, discuss Francine with Iris in a way he didn't have the distance for back in S2 and S3.

Show Barry's struggles with his grief better - the writers aren't giving Grant much to work with, especially with Caitlin's death, which is unfortunate because when he's given the chance to emote he can be a truly touching and tragic figure. But Barry's written so one note these days... I do really miss his depth.

Barry's not-totally-conscious desire to stay dead really needed to be elaborated on. He's got this beautiful wife and a daughter on the way and a son promised in a few years and this whole life he's desperate to live for, but he's been broken down over the years by trauma after trauma and he's just so tired. Being dead - not having to fight anymore - is almost a relief that he struggles with giving up. After all, he's having to not just a regular CSI now, he's Director of the Forensics Division. And the Flash and a dad-to-be and in charge of whatever research is going on at STAR Labs (if any??) and it's just getting to be all too much. He's realizing that something has to give.

And the finale winds up becoming a passing of the baton. From Barry to Wally. Barry needs to step back from being the Flash and Wally needs to step up from being Kid Flash. He's not a kid anymore and when he let's go of his old resentments and finds his enlightenment, it's Wally and Barry defeating Bloodwork together - Oliver doing his magic arrow trick to save the multiverse in the background - no longer hero and sidekick, but equals.

Since it doesn't look like we'll have Wally beyond the one episode, odds are we won't get this passing of the baton in canon or any real acknowledgement that Wally has equal claim to calling himself the Flash as Barry or Jay do. Which is a shame.

That said, if the show is finally putting Barry in the place of the older version of the Flash who shakes his head at S1 Barry so that he won't save Nora - thereby keeping the future with Nora West-Allen and Bart West-Allen intact - that would at least be interesting to see. But I'm so burned out on Eobard Thawne that while I can see that plot captivating me as maybe a two-parter it just doesn't feel respectful to the show to end it that way. The show was never about Nora Allen's murder or Eobard Thawne being a snarky asshole, it was about the Flash's journey.

So I really wish the show would end by closing this chapter of Barry's journey as the Flash and showing the beginning of the the next chapter in Wally's. The show deserves better than to end the same way it began, with Nora Allen's murder. Let it have an ending that is unequivocally one of hope, not despair.

And while maybe I'll enjoy the... three? Four? part ending of the series despite the old ground it's retreading for the umpteenth time and hopefully the full four episodes won't be about dragging out Nora Allen's death again, I think I'm always going to be a bit disappointed that the writers could never quite manage to move on from their S1 main villain.

That said, it does look like Sendhil Ramamurthy is getting billing for the last few episodes of the Flash on IMDB. So maybe he's not totally out for the count yet. Though with how he's lost his powers thanks to Oliver's magical archery skills, I'm curious to find out what part he'll actually play. Or it could just be he's been included in error. I guess we'll find out for sure with the next episode.

TUCO mourns the passing of Francine Edwards known in the calypso word as "Singing Francine" who passed away early this morning, 16th December, 2022.Singing Francine was born in Barbados on February 13th 1943 and came to Trinidad at a young age. When asked how she began singing calypso, she responded, “I never became involved in the calypso art form. I was born into the calypso art form.” Throughout her career, she has used her musical talent to address social issues, particularly those directly affecting women. In 1975, she sang “A Call to Women,” encouraging more women to use calypso music as a vehicle of self-expression. In her 1978 calypso “Runaway,” she addressed the topic of domestic violence, urging women in abusive living situations to seek help.Singing Francine was one of the most successful calypsonians in Trinidad and Tobago, winning the National Calypso Queen competition in 1972, 1973, 1981 and 1983. Over the course of her career, she has become an important figure in the development of not only calypso, but also parang.In 1981, Singing Francine released the parang album “Christmas is Love,” which featured a blend of calypso, soca and parang sounds. Francine’s album came only three years after the calypsonian Crazy, released “Parang Soca”—one of the first songs to feature what we now call “parang soca” or “soca parang,” making him a pioneer in this genre. Since then, many musicians such as Baron, Scrunter, Chalkdust, Kitchener, Sundar Popo, Drupatee Ramgoonai, Rikki Jai and Singing Francine have also made their mark by blending the dynamic sounds of calypso, soca, chutney and parang.Over the years, Singing Francine has released a number of Christmas hits, earning her the reputation as one of the best parranderos in Trinidad. Some of her classic parang songs include “Hooray, Hurrah,” “Parang Parang,” I Love Christmas,” “Christmas is Love,” “Caribbean Christmas,” and “Ay Ay Maria.”On behalf of the President, Ainsley King and the General Council of TUCO, we extend condolences to the family, loved ones, friends and colleagues of the late Singing Francine.
