Stumbles across an asexual post and now suddenly I’ve mentally compared my standoffish-ness/experimentality with it to Shinji having no control in a mech. And…yeah. That’s the best comparison I’ll ever be able to make to my situation *thumbs way up*

Listen I love all the characters in Gravity Falls but Stanley Pines is so incredibly important to me. Deep down he probably knew that the idea of going sailing in an old fixed up boat was childish but when you grow up constantly being criticized or put down sometimes you latch on to an imagined future so strongly that the idea of it happening is the only thing keeping you going. He wants so deeply to believe that some day he’ll leave Glass Shard. His father, everyone who told him he was stupid or less than Ford won’t be there anymore. It will just be him and Ford escaping together. And Ford loves him and understands him and Stanley won’t be alone because he’s part of a pair.

It doesn’t matter if the dream was childish, what matters is what it represents to Stan. Someday he’s going to go sailing with his brother and things are going to be better.
