The ages of the characters don't exist and you can fill in the gaps for whatever your narrative needs!

Jesse started his adventure (in MY head) at the age of seveteen so for parallel, so should Radar. But I don't make him overly kid like, sure he's sweet and nice but he's willing to face his own fears head on. He does NOT need to be protected, he needs to LEARN. That's his entire character arc.

And yes I hate the OVER-infantilization too, it's what happens with fladerization and woobification. But the ages are NOT canon and your allowed to imagine them as whatever age you want. So don't be surprised or offended when someone headcannons a different age than you do.
