I am LIVING for the head cannon going around that Xie Lian has actually lost it centuries ago and his beautiful husband, Hua Cheng the Crimson Rain Sought Flower Ghost King himself, is actually a putrefied abomination/horrific creature of the night and he just doesn't see it.

BUT! Why leave the other calamity ghosts out of this fun filled horror fest??

"That Black Water Creep"

Sorry had to… loved Qi Rongs "Nicknames" in the english dub of the donghua. So well, this is Shipsinking Black Water Xuan. I just finished reading all of the books of Heaven Officals Blessing and I am a little bit hypt about it. I liked it so much and the pictures it painted in my head. Very powerfull images were the four Calamities. So… well this is my first ghost king. Hope you like it. If you want to talk about the story - happy about any DMs to talk.

Oh look I rendered that thing I posted earlier.

Bioluminescent patterns, silvery shiny scale patches that mimic freckles, a back fin that folds under his robes, and gills. You can’t see it but my He Xuan design also has sharp teeth and sharpened nails. He might be venomous (patterns are based on the venomous lionfish)

Yes, I have a concept in my drafts where Shi Qingxuan turns into a ghost.

The ghost fire is lost and it moves for a long time, looking for something it can't remember.

It goes through one of the temples of Hualian and remembers bits of his life, but not enough. At some point, the ghost reaches the shore, and it hovers above the ocean.

And once far into the surface, the ghost sinks. It sinks in a land of dark waters, and it sinks until it reaches the bottom. There, another ghost with a full form is weeping.

This is what he was looking for!!

They argue, they yell, they cry, and at the end, they forgive. And Shi Qingxuan manifests a spiritual form (like Banyue did when she was in the jar) and they hug, and they kiss.

A wave of cyan light envelops them, and they are both able to pass on together.

Xie Lian felt the payer of the ghost of a friend, and Hua Cheng the release of energy from another calamity.

Do you ever think about what would've happened if Shi Qingxuan had used the right name?

Alternatively, do you ever find yourself thinking about Shi Qingxuan turning into a ghost so He Xuan is not left alone?

And then do you ever find yourself wanting to re-write fairytales with a beefleaf flavour because they are so fairytale coded.

Because I certainly don't.

White No-Face

And here we go. I finished the second calamity - the white clothed calamity: Bai Wuxiang oder auch bekannt als White No-Face. Honestly my least favorit one of the four… but he has a battle on going with Qi Rong 🫣

Experimented a little bit with different brushed for the background. Like it quite a lot i must say. What do you think?

Also tried to make the vengfull spirits into a skull shape… hm… think you probably don‘t see it is you don‘t know already 🤣
