Why is Ford even there, you might ask? Well, he either decided he preferred to watch Bill suffer in person over being distantly and repeatedly harassed with the same evil desperation book for the rest of his life, or he got roped into some kind of contrived community service for 1.) all his many counts of interdimensional thievery, and 2.) his ignoring all the very clear warnings to NOT summon Bill in the first place (which I like to imagine is also illegal). Theraprism staff were just like, 'Wait, this guy matters to Bill? Ooh, we can USE that! It might be the only thing that can help him want to get better!' It is not considered that throwing Ford at Bill so soon after Weirdmageddon could instead make them both WORSE - in new and altogether special ways! :D

Anyway, I'm calling it the Community Service AU, and I am most likely not going to do anything else with it beyond appropriating these silly Good Place jokes. So, feel free to adopt the concept if y'all wanna??? Just make sure that Bill is still not allowed to swear, no matter what, full stop. It's gotta be a real linguistic corkblork of a situation for him, is all I'm sayin'.

Because Martyn's lore leaks water from every side when it comes to working with canon.

Ignoring that, in Evo the Watchers were explicitely the audience and thats what they keep being despite the retcons.

Sure, they "feed on negativity" and all but Grian willingly joined them, and was in Hermitcraft and all despite that, Because the Evo finale was after Grian joined Hermitcraft.

Sure they like angst but they made the tasks and not even half of them were bad.

Sure they hurt Martyn but from their point of you they were telling him knowledge he lacked, they were being helpful.

They might not be canonically us any more but they are functionally us. And they view the games in the same way we do, does that makes us evil?

Okay, here’s where I disagree with everything that is said, no offense!

1: Everyone seems to misunderstand what a metaphorical representation is. The Watchers are meant to represent the audience, yes, but they aren’t STRAIGHT UP the audience. We as viewers didn’t make any of those rhymes and riddles or bedrock or portals or anything. We had no control over what the watchers did, they were just a tool used to represent us.

2: I’m pretty sure lore-wise it’s deeper than “Grian chose to become a watcher”. It sounds more like the watchers made the decision, like it was something that had to happen. Something that, although it upset Grian, he accepted. Also, in Martyn’s lore Hermitcraft isn’t technically canon, more like a dream. So idk why you brought up that he was there.

3: Yeah the tasks weren’t all bad, but I think that’s more because the watchers know that just suffering with no blips of happiness or safety or fun isn’t tasty enough. That’s why they invented the boogeyman, well not exactly but kind of. Straight up murder isn’t as interesting than being hurt by those who you had good times with.

4: Not sure what this is in reference to tbh. They never hurt him directly, so is this like, they were mean to him? I mean, you don’t need to be mean to be evil… but aside from that, they literally refused to explain further when Martyn asked, so they aren’t even being helpful.

5: This is where I getcha. Yes the watchers represent us, in their current state they represent our desire for angst. Does that make us evil? No, because these are fictional characters. The watchers are evil because, within the lore, they are actual people. So, yes, if we were watching real people suffer rather than people’s RP characters, then we would be evil.
