One of the things I really appreciate in Picard S3 is how the season slowly gave back Voyager to Seven. I get why they didn't in season 1 of Picard and only mentioned Voyager and her Voyager family obliquely -- Seven barely knew the people in La Sirena, and there's no impetus for her to share. The subtlest of nods was a good way to kick it off.
Season 2 has willingly said Janeway's name to Raffi and the context of why she wasn't in Starfleet.
By season 3, Seven is surrounded by the spirit of her old family. The best visual indicator of it all was the silver Voyager Model Seven kept prominently on a shelf in the anteroom of her quarters.
From BTS we also see Tuvok has the same one, and from this, we can infer all Voyager crew have their own models. (I would give them real money if they would sell that Voyager model too!).
It also means wherever Seven was all through the years with the Fenris Rangers Seven carried this tiny Voyager ship around.
In Prodigy Vice-Admiral Janeway has her own Voyager model, but of course, she's not going to be satisfied with a tiny model.
Keeping Jellico in the photo for the Voyager scale.
And of course, the scene in the Fleet Museum:
Featuring the Grand Old Lady herself, USS Voyager. (Hello, Voyager!)
Ends with a proper reunion with Tuvok, the only person other than Janeway who was there for Seven since the beginning:
I missed seeing them together -- and look at both of them now, in Command Red.
Janeway was the only missing element with an unfortunate thing of production and time getting in the way of Kate Mulgrew being around, as I understand it, she splits her time living in Ireland and the US (I could be wrong!) -- it's also one of the reasons I dearly hope we get a new show with Seven as the main lead. Because I selfishly want Janeway to appear and possibly give Seven her Captain's pins.
I know Jonathan Frakes expressed his wish that Riker be the one to hand out assignments to Seven, and it would make sense if he becomes a newly minted Vice-Admiral. Since Janeway might be higher up in the Command chain at this point.
But I still want Janeway to be the one handing out crucial assignments to Seven and the Ent-G.
So, yeah I hope we get that show but also I'm really glad this season finally brought Voyager back to Seven. It was her home.

Welcome Aboard
A/N: Cranked out my first fic for Carol. All mistakes are mine.
Pairings: Carol Danvers x Reader
Warnings: A little bit of angst and alcohol use
----------------
Carol never has visitors.
When the boarding request pops up on her communications system, she almost blows it to bits, it's a sound she hasn't heard in years. It takes her a few seconds to finally press the button to speak to whoever is waiting on the other side.
"Who's there?" she finally asks.
"Captain Marvel?" a voice responds, "I'm agent y/n, I'm here from S.A.B.E.R. Our comms are down indefinitely, so Fury sent me over to do a briefing."
Carol looks over at Goose, who's stretched out across the navigation station, unbothered by the news of an unexpected guest. Carol tries to emulate the same attitude, striding over to the door to greet you like she's done this plenty of times. She used to at some point, that has to count for something, right?
She loses her bravado as soon as she finds you standing in the entryway.
"Captain Marvel, it's a pleasure to meet you," you stick your hand out and Carol takes it after a beat too long. You don't take offense, Fury gave you the rundown on how long Carol has been isolated. It only took a few minutes to conclude that being a multi-galactic hero is a lonely job.
Carol doesn't stand around for too long, she hurries into the ship after inviting you in.
"Excuse the mess, been a while since someone's been aboard," she apologizes, tossing a single loose shirt into a hamper in the corner and tidying a pillow that was definitely knocked over by Goose.
"It's no problem, are you ready to start the briefing?"
"Sure, you want a drink or anything? Besides water, I think there's a few bottles of brew from Aladna hiding in the back of the fridge," Carol is already halfway to the kitchen, oblivious to the quizzical look on your face.
"I'm okay, Captain, honest," you flash her a friendly smile, and she feels the air escape her lungs. Her shoulders descend from her ears as she walks over to the chair across from you. You're too busy pulling up the agenda to notice.
Carol gingerly takes a seat, her hands rubbing vigorously against her thighs. She might be the first person to grate their hands on denim jeans at this rate. You're still looking for the agenda when Carol springs up from her seat, "are you sure you're not hungry? I'm so sorry, I should have offered before-"
"Captain?"
"Yes?" Her eyebrows were about to launch into orbit, she was already a few paces away from the kitchen, scraping the farthest corners of her mind for that recipe she learned from a family she helped a few galaxies ago.
"I'm okay, really."
"Right," she hurries over to the chair again and lets her body unceremoniously drop into it, vowing to herself she'll never get up from this spot unless she absolutely needs to. She looks up to see you waiting patiently for her go-ahead. Despite traveling to the furthest edges of the universe, she's never seen anything like the color of your eyes.
She collects herself quickly before saying, "let's get started."
---------------
The briefing was mostly successful. Turns out your agenda was outdated, the correct one must have been wiped out from the surge that knocked out the comms. You had to ad-lib everything that was left out and corrected anything that was no longer relevant. Carol watched you intently the whole time, like the fate of the universe depended on scheduled ship maintenances and admin tasks.
"There's still one thing, it was from a meeting last week," you stand, pacing back and forth trying to jog your memory.
"I'm sure it's in there somewhere, maybe we can take a look with these?" Carol is holding two memory dive devices. You've never had to use them before, but you know everything there is to know about how they work.
"Good idea Captain."
"You can call me Carol, agent, it's alright," she hands you one of the devices.
"Thank you," you just nod and take the device, Carol pretends the way your fingers brushed against hers for a fleeting second didn't just make her spine tingle. She lets you take her bed while she sits in the tattered recliner she's been meaning to get rid of.
----------------
It all happens so fast.
One second you're watching the memory of you sitting in a briefing room with Fury and your colleagues, the next, you're watching Carol's memory of Maria telling her to take Goose.
"The cancer came back."
You can only watch a few more blurs of Carol's memory before you jolt upright. Your body is so tense, all you can do is let out a shuddering breath and a few tears.
"Y/n?" Carol is already by your side, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for that to happen."
Her voice is distant, like she's calling to you from the other end of the galaxy in the deepest cave. You're still trying to get your bearings, that was far too much pain packed into what was only seconds with the mind dive.
"Can you look at me? Please?"
She sounds much closer now, you turn to look at her and suddenly remember where you are. Your breath is still unsteady as you wipe the half-dried tears on your cheeks, embarrassed over being reduced to tears.
"That...those were your memories," you finally speak, Carol sighs in relief. Her hands have been hovering between your shoulders and face this whole time, unsure if touching you was the best idea.
"Yeah, they were," she straightens up, taking the device from your hands and tossing both aside.
"I've been trying to remember everything...before, well, everything," Carol starts again, looking at anything but you, "I'm so sorry, if I knew that was going to happen I wouldn't have-"
She's cut off by the feeling of your arms pulling her against you. She almost forgot how much she loves hugs, almost.
Carol returns the favor and wraps her arms around you. You both stay like that for a while. Loss is one of the first lessons a hero learns, but it doesn't mean they're impervious to its effects, especially with how often it happens. Carol is trying to convey how sorry she is with every circle she rubs into your back. You only part when it seems like the dust has finally settled.
"I think I'll take that beer now," you say after heavy sigh. Carol gives you a sympathetic smile before heading to the fridge.
----------------
Carol explains everything that you saw.
She also tells you stories about her life before this one, and her adventures from roaming the galaxies. You did a poor job of trying to stifle your giggling when she mentioned being married to Aladna's prince to resolve a "legal issue." That earned you some side eye and an eventual smirk.
Carol swears she's mostly made peace with everything that happened, but you both know it weighs heavy on her from time to time.
Especially during long stretches of solitude like this one.
Goose saunters over to you and spills over your feet belly-up with a lazy "meow," a prime position for scratches.
"Goose is probably stoked to get scritches from someone other than me," Carol quips into the mouth of her beer.
"I could do this all day," you say without a second thought and Carol's smile reaches her eyes.
"Carol, I want my agent back," Fury chimes in over comms.
"I'll think about it," Carol says coolly as she takes a swig from her beer, you stand up out of habit from hearing Fury's voice.
"He's right, I should probably go, there's going to be million things to do now that comms are back up."
"Of course, let me walk you out," Carol sets her bottle down and leads you to the doorway. Seems like you only walked through there a few minutes ago. Time is playing tricks on you, it seems.
"Stay safe out there," Carol says.
"You too, Carol," you trade smiles, committing hers to memory by the time she pulls you in for a hug.
"Thank you," she whispers, hugging you tighter for a few seconds before finally letting you go.
----------------
"So?" Fury is the first to greet you when you arrive at the station.
"Pretending comms is down just to give her human interaction is kind of evil...yet genius," you shake your head with a smile.
"I know she gets lonely out there, she'll never admit it. This is the least I can do," he shrugs before turning on his heel. He walks a few steps before turning to you again.
"Same time next month, agent y/n?"
"Of course sir."
He gives you a curt nod with a knowing smirk before finally leaving.

i had an itching for comfort media so i went back to watch some s1 voyager episodes and s1 is soooo much better than i remembered. the later seasons appeal to my tastes a bit more but all the characters in s1 are so earnest and hopeful even when they butt heads and disagree and i'm just sitting here like "oh god they don't know what the next 7 years have in store..." i doubt it was that purposeful on the writers' part but it's so compelling how all of the characters have pretty open insecurities and are clearly people with lives and dreams beyond Voyager and bit by bit that's chipped away in later seasons. yes everyone becomes more confident and competent but is that really who they are or are they just losing themselves along the journey? (unfortunately the Doyalist explanation is just that the writers stopped putting focus on like. half of the main cast but shh i'm here for Watsonian analysis.)
like it's particularly noticeable with Janeway. she's definitely always been written as a strong leader but i forgot how much in early seasons we get to see her insecurities and vulnerabilities, how different she acts from when she's acting as captain to when she's alone, how often she questions her morality and whether she has the right to make decisions for her crew (and how often others questioned that right). then in the later seasons (around s3 and definitely by s4), she almost never questions her moral decisions, she rarely shows doubt, she plans heists on Borg cubes without a second thought, she dispenses her justice to the Equinox crew without really considering their position, she regulates others' autonomy (especially with Seven and the Doctor) without seeming to realize how easily that can go wrong. and don't get me wrong i love this development and think it's incredibly realistic for Janeway to deeply internalize her role and authority as a Captain and for it to permanently change her sense of self. Endgame is the perfect closure for Janeway's character because her future self exerts that same authority that she's been practicing over herself (also Janeway gets to live out her martyr complex one last time). i just wish the show was a little bit more self-aware that it was writing Janeway (and other characters) like this because there could be so many more interesting character conflicts.
anyways rewatching early ds9 made me say "aww these characters don't know that one day they'll all grow together and basically become family" and rewatching early voyager has me saying "uhohhhh these characters don't know the unhealthy relationships and neuroses they're going to uncover and develop". toxic found family for the win.
#forever obsessing over characters who change for the worst because of their duty and aren't even aware of how Changed they are#i started writing a fic about Janeway reuniting with her family post-Voyager and them being disturbed at how different she is and hmm#might need to get back to that one#anyways i maintain that sisko is the best written captain in star trek but i think janeway might be my favorite#alas it was inevitable...#also surprise surprise voyager is yet another show i'm enjoying so much more on rewatch#the first time through s1 to s3 took me like a year to watch through. now i've watched half of s1 in two days#voyager#kathryn janeway#my posts

Top 5 Scott Lang moments
Ooh! Oh oh oh oh! Okay uhhhhh… since it’s me, you’re also getting the why they’re my top 5
Scott breaking into Hank’s house (including the deleted scenes showing him getting a feel for the place) - this effectively shows us how brilliant Scott is at what he does. This man is super smart, and very few actually give him the credit for it. He overcame every obstacle thrown at him in clever, ingenious ways. Truthfully, the only thing that stumped him was finding the suit instead of the score he was hoping for. Everything else was cake. In one deleted scene, it shows Hank explaining to Hope why Scott breaking into a coded vault was such a big deal was because Scott figured out the pattern the algorithm gave for the alarm code and broke in that way.
“Thinks for thanking of me” - This scene was my very first introduction to Scott Lang waaaaaaay back when Civil War hit the theaters, and I was immediately hooked by this sweet guy who looked like he was voluntold to help out a bunch of superheroes who didn’t match his energy. I loved him from the moment Hawkeye opened the van door and made Scott flinch out of sleep. That scene was just a really good snapshot of his character.
“I don’t have to win; we both just have to lose.” - This. This is the most (serious) Scott Lang thing I’ve ever heard. Scott is not a winner. Not in the sense everyone thinks a winner should be. Scott wins when he can see everyone he loves is safe, and he’s done the right thing. Even if he pays the price for it. Scott was willing to give up everything to make sure his world, his timeline, his loved ones were safe and out of harm’s way. In the face of what felt like a lose-lose, Scott said, “I choose to lose so others can win, and I’ll be okay with it.” Ultimate hero status here, people. I said what I said!
Time Heist - Look, Endgame was very problematic, but the best thing that came out of it was Scott Lang’s brand of genius and optimism rolling in to save the day. Nothing - and I do mean nothing - made me happier while watching the movie than seeing the guy almost everyone overlooked giving the Avengers what they needed to succeed (thank you, Doc Strange for making sure Scott survived the Snap). The Time Heist was brilliant! Danny Oceans who? No, my dude, Scott Lang is the heist master, and the only reason why we didn’t see more of Scott taking more action and training the Avengers on the heist and how it was gonna work was because Marvel execs are cowards who didn’t know how to wield such power.
Dad of the Year Award - I cannot create such a list without recognizing the amazing relationship between Scott and Cassie. Do you know (one of many reasons) why Ant-Man was so good? Besides being an excellent heist story, it was a love story. A love story about a dad trying to get back to his daughter (mirrored by another dad trying to get back to his daughter fyi) because nothing was more important than that. And the heist worked because that was Scott’s ticket to do just that. You make the outcome be in Cassie’s favor, and Scott will achieve the impossible. Hell, the man sacrificed his life and existence by shrinking to subatomic levels, believing he would never ever come back from that, to save her. And then actually did come back because of her! Plus, the man turned his entire house into a live-in heist game out of cardboard and duct tape for Cassie. You cannot tell me Cassie is not the number one person in his life; you just can’t. And I love him for that tbh.

I really do like it when you enter the book feeling Dread and Expecting The Horrors but instead you discover a book which is. Fairly Okay Actually.
#the captain's library#my reviews thus far for 'a lady for a duke' are 'I do not think I am the target audience for this but I've gotten halfway through without#once wanting to chew glass' and 'AHAHA 95TH RIFLES JUMPSCARE'#95th rifles everywhere forever. funny as all get-out that this keeps happening.#anyway. more to the point I think that my quibbles are mostly in the vein of Well The Book Wasn't Really Trying To Do That#(setting-texture and specific clothing logistics being the main ones here)#and I feel like the parts of the plot that revolve around community and identity and addiction are being smoothed out too easily#but Then Again my bar for 'strangegirl/man with laudanum problem and also napoleon is there' is diana/stephen#and nothing is ever going to be on pob's level for Whatever That Is.#the gender parts of the deal are so far nothing worth writing home about but it's nice that the book exists!#all in all it's not going to be a favorite or a reread but it's light and not terrible and I'm having a Little fun at the very least

So you said a while ago underfell was your favorite au before. Is that still true or?
Also who’s your favorite character from whatever au you like?
damn, you were around for that? :'D
yeah, underfell used to be my favorite! i think it was smth about being really edgy as a kid, or maybe it was because red was my favorite color. idk man, even now i gotta admit those designs slap really hard.
i'm not really sure if i have a favorite au now though. i do have some ideas for underfell that i like, but i think i see the appeal of most aus bc i just like making new scenarios.
i like the big three a lot (classic, fell, swap). sans is my favorite in classic (predictable i know) if you're not counting gaster, since he isn't technically a canon character. i like both fell paps and fell sans equally, and swap paps is cool. i'd be buddies with that guy.
(i also really like asgore in undertale. the tragedy of the grief-stricken ruler who kills even though it's against his nature for the freedom of his people but also because he's long past convinced he's in too deep is really compelling to me, and by proxy i'm interested in the theoretical stories of all the fallen humans including frisk. also the whole thing with their broken family and chara and—
—whoops the ask is about aus not canon lmao, sorry!)
#ney's chatter (ask answers)#captain talks about undertale#i have trouble putting my thoughts about characters into words sometimes but#i really do just enjoy delving into ideas and character motivations#so any version of a character i end up liking might end up with a kind of interpretative spin#i do like to stick closer to canon stuff because i like working off something that has solid bones#(pun not intended)#but with aus it gets more flexible so there's room for messing around ig#i think part of why a version of the skelebros ends up being a fan favorite is because of how they tend to get the focus in content though!#which isn't necessarily a bad thing—just a personal observation#i've always liked sans though because it kind of felt like he was the only Real character. the one who saw you.#that's probably why a lot of people liked him actually#we all know i'm a sucker for media that really includes the player on a meta or emotional level#and some of that honestly might have started with undertale#it holds you accountable in a way; you know? through sans’ judgement and flowey’s color commentary#i think flowey stuck with me in a different way though—him being alone in the underground maybe forever not by force but by choice is...#kinda haunting still.#so maybe add him onto that list. poor kid.#... wow there's a whole other post in the tags here isn't there#my bad lol
