So my thing with Hobie’s nicknames: I have Hobie call Lyla “Tinkerbell” or “Tink” bc she’s small, has a yellow glow, and has an attitude, so i’m probably just gonna have him base his names off of childrens’ story characters, like for example Jess would be “Kanga” and her unborn baby is “Roo”, Margo I haven’t decided yet since we don’t know much about her movie-self and Hobie wouldn’t have any character to reference bc of her technology, but from what I’ve seen she could have her nickname as something related to The Little Mermaid because while everyone is here in person, she’s in her own dimension in a life she doesn’t really enjoy, but i’m also hesitant to have him think “Cinderella” is a good name because cmon. Her parents argue a lot, and she does use being a vigilante as a form of escape, but that’s implying that they hate her and harm her, and that’s not something Hobie would say without 100% certainty. Maybe he’d just give her a non-character nickname, like Pixie (bc Pixelate, Pixie Dust, Pick-&-Choose, whatever). Okay this is getting long it’s continued under the cut.
I personally don’t like the Gwendy and Peter Pan nicknames he gave Gwen and Miles but i guess it’s cute, but i would’ve preferred something a bit more personal to Miles rather than just in relation to Gwen bc they feel less like their own people then, even tho Peter and Wendy were an adorable duo. I can see Gwen = Wendy bc she ran away from home to a “neverland” that was supposed to be a paradise basically but realizes she can’t stay, or if you take that “Gwen was going to be shot in the stomach” thing some people who worked on the movie said they got rid of and apply it to her “ghost, gwen stacy always falls, forever immortal and taking back control” thing and her relationship with death and the idea of Neverland having dead children so they are “immortal” and “never grow up” it sticks.
But (even if it’s teasing) calling Miles “Peter Pan” doesn’t even make sense because he didn’t lead her here, she led him to the Society (unknowingly). Like people want to shove “sunflower” and “flower” into everything involving Miles so badly and it feels EXTREMELY forced. I feel like Hobie would call him something else, and this is where the name “Bambi” could come in because while Miles hasn’t lost his mother or father, he’s still learning his place in the world while saving countless people now and in the future, and will eventually become a great stag, even if life wasn’t always kind to him. But again, I don’t think Hobie would do that 100% because he doesn’t really know Miles like that. Or, he could go for more recent nicknames and non-character names that are safer, like “Brave Little Toaster/Toaster” for obvious reasons, or “Spark/Bolt/Livewire” that don’t feel as child-like as “Bambi” or as forced as “Peter Pan”
I also have to take into account what things Hobie just might not have seen, because in the setting i’m talking about he’s not living in a houseboat, so he probably doesn’t have much time to see or learn about these fairytales/characters, and it’s based on chance on when he’d know about them. Because I also have to remember that his city is still highly policed and his people are forced to fit into the mold and comply to societal standards and whatnot, so even things as simple and enjoyable as short stories for kids would be heavily controlled. Libraries are fucked in his universe but they’re one of the only “safe” havens. I think it really adds to his attitude about his own life, how he’s much older than these friends despite being like 16-19, and how he feels the most responsible for them no matter how much he denies that and tries to get rid of that feeling. Calling them these nicknames gives him both the feeling of “haha, these little kids are the future and i’m an old man” and “i’m a little kid again!!”
that’s it :3
#to be clear this is all in my fic. so like it’s not really anything i’m applying to canon atsv hobie at all. lmao#me just ranting#that was the lost coherent post of the day people the pain is back and with a vengeance…..#miles morales#spiderman#spider man#hobie brown#spiderpunk#spider punk#ghost spider#spidergwen#gwen stacy#m&m posts#not tagging the others sorry margo lyla jess and jess’s baby

Is Interior Design a Good Business?
the demand for professional interior designers has witnessed significant growth. This raises the question: Is interior design a good business? In this comprehensive analysis, we will delve into various aspects of the interior design industry to evaluate its potential as a lucrative and sustainable business venture.
Several key factors contribute to the sustained demand for interior design services, making it a potentially lucrative business.
a. Lifestyle Changes:
As societal norms evolve, individuals are placing a greater emphasis on personal expression and unique living spaces. The desire for customized and aesthetically pleasing interiors has become a driving force in the interior design industry.
Opportunities in Specialized Segments:
Interior design is a broad field that offers numerous specialized segments, each presenting unique business opportunities.
a. Residential Interior Design:
Designing homes is a primary focus for many interior designers. From small apartment makeovers to luxury home designs, catering to the residential market offers a steady stream of projects.
Staying abreast of design trends and incorporating them into projects is vital. Designers who fail to adapt to changing preferences may find it challenging to attract and retain clients.
Education and Skill Requirements:
To succeed in the interior design business, individuals need a combination of education, skills, and creativity.
a. Education:
While formal education is not a strict requirement, many successful interior designers hold degrees in interior design or related fields. Specialized education provides a foundation in design principles, spatial planning, and industry knowledge.
b. Creativity and Vision:
Creativity is at the core of interior design. Successful designers possess a keen eye for aesthetics and the ability to envision unique and innovative design concepts.
c. Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in design software, knowledge of construction principles, and an understanding of building codes are essential technical skills for an interior designer.
d. Networking and Marketing:
Building a successful interior design business requires effective networking and marketing. Establishing connections with suppliers, contractors, and real estate professionals can lead to valuable collaborations and client referrals.
Licensing and Regulations:
In many regions, interior designers are subject to licensing requirements and regulations. Understanding and complying with these regulations is crucial for operating a legitimate and successful interior design business.
a. Licensing:
Some jurisdictions require interior designers to obtain a license to practice professionally. Licensing often involves meeting educational and experience requirements and passing a standardized exam.
b. Building Codes and Regulations:
Interior designers must be knowledgeable about local building codes and regulations. Ensuring that designs comply with safety and accessibility standards is imperative.
c. Professional Memberships:
Joining professional organizations such as the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) or the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) can provide credibility, networking opportunities, and access to resources.
Business Models in Interior Design:
Interior designers can adopt various business models based on their preferences, expertise, and target market.
a. Freelance/Independent Designers:
Many interior designers opt for a freelance or independent model, working on a project-by-project basis. This offers flexibility but requires self-promotion and business management skills.
b. Design Studios:
Establishing a design studio allows designers to collaborate with a team and take on larger projects. Design studios may focus on specific niches, such as residential or commercial design.
c. Virtual Design Platforms:
Online platforms that connect designers with clients have become increasingly popular. These platforms provide a virtual marketplace for designers to showcase their work and offer design services to clients globally.
d. Retail and E-Commerce:
Some interior designers venture into retail, selling furniture, decor, or custom-designed products. E-commerce platforms provide opportunities to reach a broader audience.
Marketing and Branding:
Effective marketing and branding are essential for success in the interior design business. Building a strong brand and marketing strategy can help designers stand out in a competitive market.
a. Portfolio Development:
Creating a compelling portfolio showcasing past projects is a powerful marketing tool. High-quality photographs, detailed project descriptions, and client testimonials can significantly influence potential clients.
b. Online Presence:
Establishing a strong online presence through a professional website and social media platforms is crucial. Regularly updating these channels with new projects and engaging content helps attract and retain a loyal audience.
c. Networking:
Building a network within the industry, including real estate professionals, contractors, and suppliers, can lead to collaborative opportunities and client referrals.
d. Client Testimonials:
Positive client testimonials and reviews contribute to a designer’s credibility and can influence potential clients’ decision-making.
Financial Considerations:
Starting and running an interior design business involves various financial considerations, including startup costs, pricing strategies, and revenue streams.
a. Startup Costs:
Initial expenses may include education and certification fees, design software, marketing materials, and a workspace. Designers should carefully budget for these costs to ensure a smooth start.
b. Pricing Strategies:
Determining pricing strategies is crucial for profitability. Designers may charge hourly rates, flat fees, or a percentage of the project cost. Clear communication with clients about pricing structures is essential.
c. Multiple Revenue Streams:
Diversifying revenue streams can enhance the stability of an interior design business. In addition to design services, designers may generate income through partnerships, product sales, or online courses.
d. Financial Management:
Effective financial management, including budgeting, invoicing, and tracking expenses, is critical for the long-term success of an interior design business.
Future Trends and Innovation:
Staying abreast of emerging trends and embracing innovation is vital for the sustained success of an interior design business.
a. Technology Integration:
Incorporating technology, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), into the design process allows clients to experience spaces before implementation. This enhances the design collaboration and visualization process.
b. Sustainable and Wellness Design:
The focus on sustainability and wellness in design is expected to intensify. Designers who prioritize eco-friendly materials and create spaces that promote well-being may have a competitive edge.
c. Globalization of Design:
Advancements in communication and collaboration tools facilitate global design projects. Designers can leverage online platforms to work with clients from different parts of the world.
Conclusion:
Ultimately, the interior design business can be a fulfilling career for those passionate about creating visually appealing and functional spaces. As the industry continues to evolve, staying innovative and embracing new trends will be key to staying competitive and thriving in this dynamic field.

Week 8: Body Modification on Visual Social Media
In the context of visual social media, the term "body modification" refers to a wide range of behaviours and trends that individuals engage in while attempting to alter their physical appearance. These alterations are frequently affected by the material that people come across on the internet today. There is a plethora of photographs and videos featured on social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat that showcase idealised body types. These images and videos are frequently altered through the use of filters, photo editing, and cosmetic surgery. The excessive beauty standards that are set by influencers and celebrities, who frequently display their altered looks, make many users feel as though they are obligated to adapt to these norms.
The shift in body perception exhibited by persons who use social media platforms is a significant consequence that arises as a result of these behaviours. It is possible for individuals to develop a negative body image as a consequence of being exposed to digitally edited photographs. This occurs when individuals consider their own bodies to be inadequate in comparison to the unrealistic ideals projected on the internet. This can result in a variety of psychological issues, such as a lower sense of self-worth, increased anxiety, and body dysmorphic disorder, which is a condition that is marked by an excessive preoccupation with perceived faults in one's physical appearance. “Social media photo manipulation is linked to increased cosmetic procedure attitudes and intentions, facial dissatisfaction, and appearance-based self-discrepancy. Sharing selfies online and receiving positive comments as regards appearance may shape users' subsequent behavior as regards image as a valued commodity considering audience feedback.” (Brian 2022)
In addition, the desire to achieve these idealised features might force individuals to go through a variety of different kinds of physical transformations. Aesthetic operations like as liposuction, rhinoplasty, and breast augmentation are included in this category. Additionally, non-invasive treatments such as Botox, fillers, and skin rejuvenation procedures are also included. Despite the fact that these adjustments have the potential to increase self-confidence in certain individuals, they also come with significant risks, such as the danger of developing a dependency on cosmetic treatments, the complexity of medical procedures, and the financial burdens that are associated with them. “People try to change their appearance to gain social acceptance.” (Garousi, Dolatabad & Garrusi 2017)
It is vital to advocate for media literacy and give consumers with knowledge on the reality of digital manipulation and the varied expressions of beauty in order to alleviate these negative impacts. This will help to alleviate as many of these negative effects as possible. Educating consumers about the importance of maintaining a critical perspective when interacting with information on social media platforms enables them to recognise that a considerable proportion of the photographs they come across do not adequately portray reality. Furthermore, the promotion of a culture that promotes self-acceptance and body positivity, as well as celebrates a wide diversity of body forms, can be an effective means of combating the influence of societal expectations to comply to restrictive beauty standards. A more positive relationship between social media and body image can also be fostered by providing information and aid to persons who are struggling with issues related to their body image, as well as advocating for methods of transforming one's body that are reasonable and within one's reach.

Remember when I read an article by a stupid Theology professor who was saying our universities were in favor of the 'white Christian' when our country's main religion that influenced our constitution is protestantism?
I just read another article from that newspaper which is a magazine regarding educational matters and my god, this entire newspaper seems to showcase why our education system has gone to hell.
There is no non-native English speaking country that is so well-spoken and quick to switch in English as The Netherlands, foreigners with experience travelling across the globe tell us so all the time.
But its starting to become a problem in the education system, especially colleges. The primary issue is that its getting to the level where its becoming inaccessible for a Dutch student who isn't particularly skilled in languages. We are already hearing stories of students who cannot actually study at certain colleges anymore because there is no course available for them in our native language.
Our government is now trying to change this, and amongst their plans is forcing international teachers to actually learn the language to a certain standard before they are allowed to teach as our pro-English speaking system has also drawn in a lot of foreign academics.
Who are currently crying discrimination.
Wtf.
How can you get fancy degrees, yet not have the braincells to be like, I'm gonna go teach in another country so how about I learn the language my students speak?'
Also how can you be so selfish as an educator to think your academic aspirations and how they are hindered by not speaking the language is worth more then people's education.
They are complaining about the cost of language classes and lack of time. Again, they should have had the brains to think about that before moving abroad and getting a job.
I cannot believe they have the audacity to demand for free language classes like the international students get. Those kids are paying our colleges for classes, we just give international students a bonus class. Whereas these college teachers are getting paid for their services. Big difference.
I also cannot believe that they demand the government to scrap this requirement because no one else is held to it. Yeah, those aren't educators.
Also the way this one anonymous professor was like, 'most of us actually do want to learn, I don't think forcing us to comply is the answer' is such an idiot!!! Have they never been in a poor area with lots of immigrants before?!
Because of us being so profficient in English, there are plenty of immigrants to be found who barely speak a word of our language despite being here for 10+ years. My Turkish childhood best friend who is the inspiration behind my TWP OC Zeynep? Her mother barely spoke a word Dutch when we were children despite being here for almost 20 years.
My mom was always like, "Just imagine your parent getting an STD and being forced to translate at the doctors office," because that is the case for these immigrants and they have already proven that unless you force immigrants to take language classes almost half of the group still won't be profficient within a decade.
For all their whining about how there are foreign colleges who pay them better and how much money language classes cost, they clearly don't struggle enough with money to actually have to live in a poor area and witness how the immigrants without a fancy degree prove the government's point at how giving people the choice clearly isn't working on a societal level.
I wonder if they will still call it discrimination if they ever get into a complex medical situation and their Dutch doctors doesn't know how to describe a medical term in English.
#tetsutalk#Seriously if you move to a country you gotta learn the language idiot#As shitty as our government is they aren't responsible for your poor decision making#Dutch students deserve to go to college and speak their native language#Do I need to begin about my old neighbor from Sri Lanka who could only have basic conversations in Dutch after 26 years of living here?#We speak English too often#Dutch education#Our education is going to hell#When our educators are more focused on their own academic achievements then they are on their students#Your career is less important then the education system and kids getting to sign up for college#If you don't get that then you shouldn't become a teacher

Bringing up black and brown American interaction with government paid civilian killers shows that racism is at the heart of zionist nationalism.
People will gladly speak about how brown people across the world should abide by the orders of their government paid civilian killers because they understand that American brown people have poor interactions with their government paid civilian killers. But because they're invested in demonizing Palestinians they insidiously ignored the cold hard fact that black and brown people are regularly killed by cops even when they do everything right.
"Don't antagonize people with guns, just do whatever they tell you, why don't you just listen, give up your home to maybe save your family, let me inform you of my own personal measurement of importance in my life as an American!!" Who actually thinks to write this filth??
Anti Palestinian hatred will manipulate a story of a minor getting shot up while their family refused to participate in their own colonization and rewrite the story in favor of zionist violence.
Grilling people as to why an entire family didn't allow their Palestinian home to be confiscated by foreign government agents = "can I ask an insensitive question???"
Reimagining yourself into a situation where you weren't present to retell how you would personally be the perfect victim = "if these gunmen showed up at MY DOOR then MY RESPONSE wouldn't be to say no!"
Resisting the colonization that would negatively impact someone's life and force them to be homeless and ruin their lives forever = "my life is more important than what I have and where I live"
Government agents armed and given permission to murder and shoot unarmed civilians that they find too unruly aka innocent people who don't want to be stolen from = "soldiers"
Resisting being a victim of theft = "intimidation"
Solidifying the fact that black and brown bodies that are regularly over policed and seen as a threat by default have dangerous interactions with cops just from what they say and do = "I must be thinking like this cuz I'm America"
Realizing that zionists send other zionists out into Palestine with the goal of harassing Palestinians and creating scenarios where if Palestinians aren't ok with being harassed and stolen from then they will shoot children = "don't antagonize people who are looking to shoot antagonists"
SERIOUSLY! Palestinian hatred is the flavor of the month but this hatred is running deep. Anti Palestinian hatred will have you see a story of a family getting terrorized by armed gunmen for the sake of their government and have the interaction end with a little boy getting gunned down and the reactionary response is to question why the victims didn't just take their victimization at face value and allow themselves to be forced into poverty and homelessness by people who are there to antagonize and terrorize them.
Being a state appointed terrorist, whether it's at the level of a dogmatic cop or at the level of a military foot soldier, means to create scenarios where you get to apply your personal standards on who lives or dies and you can make those decisions comfortably because you know the people keeping you employed will back you up. That's the agreement between the state and its armed employees. "Work for us and enforce our anti black anti brown imperialist agenda and put yourself in the line of duty and we'll support you by manipulating the law and societal opinion to give you almost complete impunity and citizen nationalism".
Someone who wanta to be a child shooter doesn't magically lose their desire to shoot children just because their victims choose to comply. That's the standard of law enforcement. We witness regularly thru war and police interaction that if a gunmen wants you dead he'll just shoot you. Palestinians have compiled with their attackers before and have allowed themselves to be stolen from, unlawfully arrested, be made homeless, be brutalized and have literally taken pro cop advice and just gave in/said yes/left and STILL end up with a bullet in the brain/back/body
The goal of Israeli zionism is to shoot first ask questions never later. No pro cop beliefs will ever effect their implementation of that goal and its ahistorical and anti Palestinian to tell people otherwise
Also huge heads up to the prev poster. I WILL NOT BE READING YOUR RESPONSE TO ME. YOU TELLING ME THAT I HATE JEWISH PEOPLE FOR BEING AGAINST YOUR PRO COP AGENDA HAS NO WORTH. YOU TELLING ME IM ANTI SEMITIC FOR BEING ANTI ZIONIST HAS EFFECT ON REALITY. YOU PAINTING THESE VICTIMS AS ANTAGONIZERS IS RACIST AND ANTI PALESTINIAN AND PRO IMPERIALIST AND IT IS BENEATH ME TO ARGUE WITH A NATIONIST. Feel free to still type and maybe entertain other anti Palestinians but please know that I won't read any of it

Rising Above the “Mediocrity”: Jerusha's Emotive Pop Rebellion Journeying beyond common expectations and societal standards, actor and musician Jerusha Cavazos profoundly challenges the conventional notion of success in her latest single, "MEDIOCRITY". With resounding female vocals wrapped gently around electronic-pop foundations, this anthem urges its listeners to accept wearing many hats with pride, defying the fear of being average or ordinary. https://open.spotify.com/album/6RBVUyA0vNgKyviXMFd79T In producing "MEDIOCRITY", Jerusha has joined hands with Devin Lewis to articulate an ultimate rebellion against societal impositions that confine success to mastering just a narrow slither in life's grand spectrum. This duo refuses stagnation and chooses instead to revel in their multifaceted talents - an idea brought to life through catchy melodies and liberating lyrics. Cracking open this anthemic pop track, you'll be greeted by an undercurrent of shimmering synths interlaced with nostalgic percussion beats reminiscent of the late 2000s era. The blend creates a feather-light yet heart-clenching backdrop for Jerusha’s voice that weaves through each verse like a silken thread. Possessing the warmth of SZA coupled with Ellie Goulding's dynamism, Jerusha confirms her place among contemporary pop royalty. Her lyrics, spiked with desolate honesty and raw emotion riddled with everyday anxieties one faces while grappling with diverse dreams adds another layer to this thematically rich endeavor. You can't help but feel stirred – perhaps even emboldened. [caption id="attachment_52114" align="alignnone" width="1554"] Rising Above the “Mediocrity”: Jerusha's Emotive Pop Rebellion[/caption] Though it hails from a relatively new entrant in the music scene – she began her official venture into music 2020 – this song proves itself as much more than merely 'catchy'. It carries deep undertones of resilience and self-realization, coated in the mesmerizing energy that Jerusha Cavazos effortlessly channels. "Catchy" is indeed an apt adjective for this track with its easy sing-along chorus and infectious melody. It embeds itself into your consciousness where it echoes long after you've paused the playback, making it suitable not only for thoughtful solitary listening sessions but also ready to become the center of gravity at social gatherings. "MEDIOCRITY", thus, is a deeply relatable ‘anthem of self-delusion’ seamlessly marrying contemporary pop with introspective lyrics that resonate on an emotional and intellectual level. As her acting prowess magnifies her lyrical expressiveness, Jerusha Cavazos doesn’t just hit the notes – she tells you a story. A tale poignant and unapologetic in its celebration of being jack-of-all-trades. Running through this vibrant journey that "MEDIOCRITY" offers is a constant refusal to comply with society's blinkered vision of success—making this song an electrifying testament to self-love, acceptance, and growth. No doubt: Jerusha Cavazos proves herself to be a force beyond mediocrity with this single - carving her own path and encouraging others to do the same. Follow Jerusha on Website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.

Fragile Chainsaw Masculinity
Note: This post covers up to Chapter 84. So regarding huge spoilers, I’m only going to hint at certain elements.
If there’s one manga I find to be summed up as 2020 in a nutshell for a lot of people, it has to be Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man. It’s a very refreshing Shonen Jump manga where anything goes in a dystopian world where devils and humans have to coexist in order for society to not crumble even further. Every character in this series is flawed and isn’t touted to be some kind of saint. I find the main character, Denji, to be a very good example of how certain aspects of masculinity hurt young men like him.
In Chainsaw Man, Denji becomes a half-man/half-chainsaw being thanks to his Chainsaw Devil pet, Pochita, merging with him. After killing a group of gangsters that have been using him for their own purposes, he then joins an organization of devil hunters who help protect the public. Denji doesn’t have any noble reasons to save the world; he fights to live a simple life and feel safe doing so. However, due to the nature of his power, Denji is the target of many as the Chainsaw Devil inside him can possibly change the world for better or worse.
There was a line I heard from a podcast about masculinity and it was from a young boy who wanted to express himself emotionally. He said “You know, it might be nice to be a girl because I wouldn't have to be so emotionless.” Many young men caught up in how to be masculine arguably feel that way. Being emotionless sums up Denji to a huge degree. Prior to the events of the first chapter of the series, Denji was living under severe debt and forced to do devil-killing jobs in order to pay it off. He never got opportunities to explore his own sense of self as he shut off his emotions out of the fear of scarcity. Denji is a young man lacking a set of core values and purpose in life.
His chainsaw powers leads him down a path where he is surrounded by death every time he pulls the cord. Masculinity ideology promotes the idea of violence as a way to be strong. While Denji does get his moments of joy, he is encouraged to be violent without much regard to his own feelings. Denji is used as a pawn by the devil hunters to get rid of potential threats. He doesn’t seem to mind at first. But after recent events that involved tackling what’s considered to be the greatest threat to Japan, Denji goes through a grieving process which leads him to wish that he stopped thinking for himself after repeated losses in his life.
Grief? Complicated emotions? No, you’re too manly to think about that. You got better things to do. Just get on with it. This is what we’re all taught in general, but those ideas are drilled harder into men more than women.
Now onto another thing that Chainsaw Man tackles regarding masculinity - achievement in the form of getting women to flock to you.
One of anime/manga’s most popular tropes is having a young male character (usually the hero) surrounded by a good amount of female characters that want him. This also ties into a larger cultural trope where young men are normalized to fantasize about having sexual relations with any woman they deem attractive. Of course, fantasy isn’t reality as women are individuals who aren’t supposed to comply with men’s wishes all the time.
In Chainsaw Man, Denji meets a number of women (besides Makima) who he falls in love or has somewhat intimate moments with. He once rescued his female devil hunter partner and fellow Devil herself, Power, from a devil just so he could touch her breasts. Power allowed Denji to do so as his reward, but Denji felt it was lacking. There was a notable incident with Power in Chapter 71 where he takes a shower with Power and tries to comfort her after a horrific experience in Hell left her traumatized. Denji dotes to himself that his moment with Power wasn’t what he pictured in his mind. He was unable to see the point of what intimacy truly is - sharing both physical and emotional vulnerabilities and taking comfort in being accepted for them.
Denji starts to realize over time that all he wants is meaningful relationships with people who don’t end up dying. Yet he tries hard to ignore his own desires much to his detriment. He represents the complexity of masculinity in troubling times. When is it a good time to express it? When is it better to be emotional for a man? What counts as being a man in ways that aren’t defined by cultural/societal standards?
I wonder those questions myself because men are far more likely to kill themselves than women. What masculinity ideology sometimes promotes (risk, violence, “lone wolf” mentality, etc.) are huge factors in increasing the risk of suicide. Men are conditioned to not value friendships as much as women do and are more likely to feel burdened by actions that make them feel worthless. Denji’s “growth” heavily revolves around the feeling of not being alone and the desire to not feel like a failure at any costs.
Chainsaw Man hits home on how the bad parts of masculinity can ruin men like Denji. Which is probably one of the big reasons why I love this series besides the sheer unpredictability of what will happen next in every chapter. There have been times where I realized that some male cultural ideals were hurting me somehow. I know it’s hard to empathize with men these days, but I’m not sure shaming them will encourage them to be better. I once said that bullies are also victims and it’s far better to blame systemic issues (since they create bullies) than bullies themselves.
Chainsaw Man is basically telling us to not pull the cord on men any further than it needs to be because we already have too many devils to begin with.

7 Powerful Books That Will Unleash The Hidden Potential Of Your Mind
" A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to maintain its side."
There it is: your mind -all leashed-up, bored, bookless and chasing its very own tail in the edge. It's time to unleash it. It's time to throw it back into the surprising waters of wonder and admiration. It's time to sidetrack it from the all as well familiar tail (or story, to wit), as well as give it a juicy carrot to chase around rather. Seven juicy carrots, to be exact.
So, shop that leash, open up your mind, snuggle with your ideal close friend, and dive precisely into the complying with mind-unleashing publications. However keep the light on. As Groucho Marx wittily believed, " Beyond a pet dog, a publication is guy's best buddy. Within a pet dog it's too dark to check out."
1.) "The Beginning of Infinity" by David Deutsche
" We never ever recognize any type of information prior to translating it via concepts. All monitorings are, as Popper put it, theory-laden, and thus imperfect, as all our concepts are."
From epistemology and also quantum fungibility to ecological values and societal advancement, David Deutsche takes us on a provocative trip right into addressing a single inquiry: Is there a restriction to exactly what can be comprehended? He comes at a mind-expending solution of “no” by diving deep into the broadening waters of epistemology and also ontology. He profoundly claims that our understanding of anything is constantly at the “beginning of infinity” and also there will certainly constantly be a boundless amount a lot more left for us to recognize. Basically speculating that, with exact and versatile understanding, anything is feasible unless it is restricted by the laws of physics.
Highly sensible as well as integrating, The beginning of Infinity releases us into greater thinking on the path towards much better and also far better descriptions. He takes us from parochial, obsolete methods of believing to the idea of universality and upgraded ways of thinking of the cosmos as a thing to be gradually evolved right into making use of ever-expanding modern technologies. Therefore bridging the void from guy to overman. As he explained, "There is just one method of believing that is qualified of making progress, or of enduring over time, as well as that is the means of seeking great descriptions with creativity and also objection."
2.) ' Circulation: The Psychology of Optimal Experience' by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
" The majority of satisfying activities are not all-natural, they demand an effort that initially one is unwilling to make. Once the communication begins to offer feedback to the person's abilities, it typically begins to be intrinsically rewarding."
Thanks to Csikszentmihalyi, the concept of the “flow state” has come to be an essential aspect of our social awakening. The optimum experience is gained through deep self-control in a particular field/art/sport that gives inherent reward, difficulty, and also comments, therefore integrating self-confidence, focus, control, flexibility, and also connectivity. Time stops or decreases. Instabilities go away. We quit respecting what others consider us. A creative unraveling of something bigger shows up. Every little thing flows easily in interconnected unison with us as its synergistic spearhead. In brief: we stop believing and also simply do.
By just asking the concern, " When are people most pleased?" Csikszentmihalyi, with time checked study, identifies flow states as the response. Professional athletes call it "remaining in the area," mystics have actually defined it as “ecstasy,” and artists term it “rapture.” Releasing ideal experience is concerning doing what we enjoy as a pathway toward better meaning, happiness, and also a self of higher intricacy. By doing just what we love in challenging ways, we take advantage of ideal experience right into our lives. This book powerfully discusses the psychology of this important process.
3.) "Phi: A Trip from the Mind to the Soul' by Giulio Tononi
" Dirty ideas, like dirty waters, can serve 2 objectives only: to hide what lies beneath, which is our ignorance, or to earn the shallow appear deep"
Phi takes the viewers on a mind-altering trip through the nature of consciousness. It interweaves scientific research, art, as well as the imagination with golden proportions, Fibonacci series, as well as fractal cosmology. The visitor has the happiness of viewing the world through such masters as Galileo, Alan Turing, Darwin and Francis Crick, amongst others. From neuroscience to pseudoscience, from deep introspection to mindful meditation, Tononi illuminates on exactly how awareness is a progressing, ever-deepening recognition of ourselves as finite, souls in a limitless universe.
We find out just how awareness is integrated information and just how the power of that combination requires miraculous duty and also credulity. It instructs exactly how the brain is the seat of our understandings, as well as is an innovative force par quality, as well as can also create brand-new forms and also brand-new qualia. It shows just how, by growing awareness, deep space comes increasingly more into being, and synthesizes the one and the many, the ego as well as the eco, the individual and the interdependence of all points into a linked force of Nature.
4.) "The Art of Fear" by Kristen Ulmer
"" Every little thing is great" is really a copout, a stuck area, an obstruction to the exploration of who and just what you are broadening right into higher and even more, as well as the advancement of humankind."
The Art of fear has to do with curiously accepting fear rather compared to conquering or repressing it. It has to do with restoring our understanding of fear from scratch. It has to do with realizing that Anxiety is just one of 10,000 employees at You Integrated, as well as how they all require a voice. Yet Fear many of all, lest all voices become quelched darkness. The key to fear, she discusses, is wondering regarding it, consequently utilizing its power rather compared to overcoming it. In between guts and curiosity is whatever we should be fearless.
Ulmer's individual trip with anxiety at some point led her to examine with Zen masters, where she discovered a mindfulness device called "Shift" which moves our perspective of worry from oblivious repression to aggressive curiosity, thus aligning it authentically with our real nature. The standard tenet being this: As opposed to quelching fear, equip it, by being curious as well as examining instead of judgmental and implicating. Honor it with deep respect so it does not operate secretly in twisted means below the surface.
5.) "Endgame: The Problem of Human being' by Derrick Jensen
" Property One: People is not and could never ever be sustainable. This is specifically real for commercial civilization."
Endgame will certainly take every little thing you think you understand about being a social remaining in an apparently useful society as well as turn it on its head. Absolutely except the regular statist, neither the faithful obedient resident. Endgame has to do with the vital demand to right away take apart the unhealthy human being that surrounds us. Endgame is a scathing, surging review against the harmful, unsustainable, and also ecologically unhealthy man-machine that is our contemporary culture.
Breaking guide down right into a series of easy yet increasingly intriguing facilities, Jensen takes us on a psychedelic as well as convincing flight into the undesirable stubborn belly of the fierce, ecocidal beast that is modern human being. His standard property is straightforward: Industrial people is unsustainable. It's not an inquiry of “if” but a question of “when” it's going to fail.
He suggests that the longer it takes people to fall, the worse the tragedy will be. In that light, there are 2 points we must be doing: Causing the autumn sooner rather than later, and preparing to endure it. His attitude is caustic as well as not so serious, however all the better for the shock worth it offers. This book actually squashes the box we're all so desperately attempting to assume beyond. A free (and maybe less hostile) read is Beyond Human being by Daniel Quinn.
6.) Trickster Makes this Globe: Mischief, Myth, and Art by Lewis Hyde
" Better to run with detachment, then, much better to have a method but instill it with a little humor, best, to have no way at all but to have rather the wit constantly making one's method anew from the materials at hand."
Trickster Makes This World is a mythological cornerstone for Spiritual Clowns and also practicing trickster-gods the world over, digging into the intestines of the prehistoric significance of sacred play and also brawler actions. Hyde checks out just how trickster numbers represent the “disruptive imagination” that inverts, reorganizes, and also overturns standard wisdom. From Raven to Coyote, Ape to Crow, Hermes to Loki, Eshu to Legba, Hyde reveals connections in between mythical tricksters that develop a concealed network that links social divides.
The ideal part regarding this publication is its capability to reveal just how mythology ends up being reality. “Trickster consciousness'” is a crucial component of human imagination. It reveals that we are the gods of renewal as well as rebirth, if we decide to be. We are the designers of mischief and also mayhem. We are the trickster gods in training. Charlatan is us, and also we are Charlatan. We are the supreme boundary-crossers. No manmade policies or legislations could have us, unless we let them. Also planetary regulations and also regulations can barely contain us. Charlatan makes this globe by tearing the old world down through high wit, ethical ambiguity, absurdity, and critical transgression and also then dancings in the ashes of its devastation. It is specifically from the dancing, the kicking up of dirt and also ash, where endure new globes emerge.
7.) 'Ethical Tribes: Feeling, Reason, and also the Void Between Us as well as Them' by Joshua Greene
" We need a kind of believing that allows teams with clashing principles to cohabit and flourish. To puts it simply, we require a metamorality. We need a moral system that settles disagreements amongst groups with different moral ideals, equally as common first-order morality solves differences among individuals with various egocentric rate of interests."
Moral Tribes is hands-on moral psychology and a revitalizing brand-new take on utilitarianism. Greene wraps video game theory, evolutionary biology, as well as neuroscience into a wonderful absorbable package to strengthen his concept of cognition, which builds elegantly into a theory of moral psychology. A sweeping synthesis of neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy, Ethical People opens up a container of psychosocial worms that takes the principle of principles to the next level, exposing exactly how we are incredibly well-adept at fixing the problem in between “Me” and “Us,” through the concept of the “tribe,” yet how we are ridiculously less-adept at solving the meta-dilemma between “Us” and “Them.”
Greene's principle of metamorlity squares this psychosocial circle by counterintuitively applying utilitarianism to our base, pavlovian response to morality (advanced morality) by coming to be aware of our apathy in order to end up being a lot more understanding. By enhancing humankind as opposed to nationalism, and life patriotism rather of patriotic nationalism, we turn the tables on both prejudice as well as lethargy and we come to be a lot more caring as well as empathetic toward others. When we celebrate variety rather than trying to pack the square secure of manifest destiny right into the round hole of social association, we turn the tables on the monkey-mind's one-dimensional moral tribalism and we introduce Joshua Greene's multi-dimensional metamorality.

I have something to say...
I’m probably one of the only people using social media that is brave enough to say this publically and proudly.
I DON’T VOTE
I don’t vote for very strong and substantial self-aware reasons and moral values that don’t compromise or go against who I am as a person and what I care about in the world. I don’t vote because I don’t want any politician in state and office. I don’t vote because I do not agree with the bipartisan voting system. I don’t vote because I believe in free choice. I don’t vote because I’m an altruist. I don’t vote because I don’t like to be forced to comply to mandatory standards and societal conventions. But most of all, I don’t vote because I understand none of it makes any damn bit of difference to the lives of the minority.
Making a difference to yours or other people’s lives has absolutely nothing to do with voting for the next generic politician that never says what they mean or means what they say.
I don’t support hypocrites, liars and manipulators. I support sincerity and integrity. If I vote, I go against everything I am. I go against my sense of self and all the principles I uphold. I also go against the human race as one people because when you vote, you vote for a group of people and not all people. I don’t care what politician says otherwise. They’re throwing you a bone only to take it away when they succeed. You would be wise to not listen to them. The only reason to acknowledge a politician’s spiel for, is to pay attention to what they say but what they don’t do, and then make an effort to do it yourself no matter the odds that are stacked against you.
BOTTOM LINE: YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT BUT I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I DON’T VOTE BECAUSE I DON’T TAKE SIDES. I STAND FOR ALL. I AM ONLY SUGGESTING YOU DO THE SAME. THERE ARE MANY WAYS YOU CAN DO THAT WITHOUT VOTING.
Alternatives to voting:
Be a social activist anywhere and everywhere you can. Protest and fight for the rights of everything that has a beating heart and consciousness on social media or otherwise.
Sign up to petitions and websites that strive for effective positive change. Donate to and volunteer with private, small and local communities. Take free courses payed for by the government to learn how to do something, and to gain interpersonal and transferable skills so that you can get into employment where you can afford to provide for yourself and others.
Even doing something as small as giving the person that is homeless on the street a coin and a smile every time you see them will make more difference to their lives than any amount of voting and waiting for others to make a change to the housing and benefit laws will.
Now I am going to say something that is said on social media a lot, any time a social activist lecture is written, to lighten the mood, and because I think it’s funny and in some cases very true if enough people see it and make it viral.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk!

The Sufficient Household
The households of the not as well distant past were related along 4 axes. These axes were not mutually unique. Some overlapped, all of them boosted each various other. Individuals obtained married for various factors: 1. As a result of social pressure and social norms (the Social Dyad). 2. To develop a much more efficient or synergetic economic device (the Economic Dyad). 3. In pursuit of psychosexual gratification (the Psychosexual Dyad). 4. To protect long-term friendship (the Friendship Dyad). Therefore, we could speak about the complying with 4 axes: Social-Economic, Emotional, Practical (Sensible), Private-Familial. To show exactly how these axes were linked, allow us consider the Emotional one. Until extremely lately, people used to obtain wed because they really felt extremely strongly regarding living alone, partially because of social stricture of reculsiveness. In some countries, people still register for beliefs which advertise the family members as a column of culture, the fundamental cell of the nationwide organism, a hothouse where to reproduce youngsters for the army, and so forth. These collective beliefs ask for individual payments and sacrifices. learn more have a strong emotional measurement as well as give incentive to a host of habits patterns. But the emotional financial investment in today's individualistic-capitalist ideologies is no smaller compared to it remained in the other day's patriotic ones. True, technical advancements made past believing obsolete as well as inefficient yet did not appease Man's thirst for advice and also a worldview. Still, as innovation evolved, it ended up being an increasing number of turbulent to the family. Enhanced movement, a decentralization of information sources, the transfers of the standard features of the family members to social as well as economic sector facilities, the boosted incidence of interpersonal communications, safer sex with lower or no consequences - all cultivated the disintegration of the traditional, extended and nuclear family. Think about the patterns that straight influenced women, as an example:. 1. The introduction of usual marriage residential or commercial property and of laws for its equivalent circulation in instance of separation constituted a shift in legal approach in the majority of cultures. The result was a significant (as well as on going) re-distribution of riches from guys to women. Include in this the differences in life expectancy between both sexes and the magnitude of the transfer of financial resources ends up being noticeable. Ladies are becoming richer due to the fact that they live longer than guys as well as hence inherit them as well as because they obtain a share of the marriage property when they divorce them. These "endowments" are normally more than they had contributed to the pair in loan terms. Females still earn much less compared to guys, for example. 2. An increase in financial possibilities. Social as well as ethicalities transformed, modern technology allows for boosted movement, wars and also economic turmoils brought about the required introduction of females right into the labour markets. 3. The result of ladies's improved economic clout is a more egalitarian social and lawful system. Female's rights are being lawfully along with informally protected in an evolutionary process, stressed by small lawful changes. 4. Ladies had actually largely accomplished equal rights in academic as well as financial chances as well as are dealing with a gaining fight in other domain names of life (the armed force, political representation). Really, in some legal areas, the prejudice protests men. It is unusual for a guy to complain of unwanted sexual advances or to obtain spousal support or custody of his kids or, in numerous countries, to be the beneficiary of social well-being settlements. 5. The introduction of socially-accepted (normative) solitary moms and dad as well as non-nuclear family members assisted females to form their lives as they choose. A lot of single parent households are goinged by females. Women solitary moms and dads are disadvantaged economically (their typical revenue is really low also when adapted to show transfer repayments) - yet several are taking the plunge. 6. Therefore, slowly, the shaping of future generations ends up being the special domain name of females. Even today, one third of all youngsters in developed countries grow in solitary moms and dad families without male figure around to work as a role model. This exclusivity has remarkable social as well as financial ramifications. Progressively and discreetly the balance of power will move as society ends up being matriarchal. 7. The innovation of the pill and also various other birth controls liberated females sexually. The resulting sex-related revolution impacted both sexes but the major recipients were women whose sexuality was all of a sudden legitimized. No more under the cloud of undesirable maternity, ladies did not hesitate to engage in sex with numerous companions. 8. When faced with this newfound freedom and the truths of altering sexual conduct, the double moral conventional fallen apart. The presence of a legitimately revealed womanly sexual drive is widely approved. The household, consequently, becomes likewise a sexual joint venture. 9. Urbanization, interaction, and also transport increased the number of experiences between men and women as well as the chances for economic, sex-related, as well as psychological interactions. For the very first time in centuries, ladies had the ability to evaluate and compare their male companions to others in every imaginable means. Progressively, females choose to opt out of connections which they consider to be useless or inadequate. Greater than three quarters of all separations in the West are launched by females. 10. Women familiarized their requirements, priorities, preferences, dreams as well as, generally, of their appropriate feelings. They abandoned emotions as well as believed patterns instilled in them by patriarchal societies and societies as well as sustained via peer stress. 11. The functions and also traditional functions of the family members were slowly worn down as well as transferred to other social agents. Even functions such as psychological support, psychosexual communications, as well as youngster rearing are typically relegated to outside "subcontractors". Emptied of these functions and of inter-generational communications, the extended family was lowered to a dysfunctional shell, a hub of simple interaction in between its remaining members, a worn out variation of its previous self. The standard roles of ladies and their alleged personality, propensities, and dispositions were not useful in this new atmosphere. This led women to look for a brand-new meaning, to discover a brand-new niche. They were actually cleared out of their houses by its useful disappearance. 12. In parallel, modern medication boosted women's life expectancy, extended their youngster birthing years, enhanced their wellness significantly, as well as preserved their appeal with a myriad new methods. This provided women a new lease on life. In this brand-new world, women are far much less likely to die at childbirth or to look decrepit at Thirty Years of age. They are able to time their choice to bring a kid to the world, or to refrain from doing so passively or proactively (by having an abortion). Female's expanding control over their body - which has actually been externalized, reviled and also appreciated for millennia by males - is arguably among one of the most striking functions of the feminine change. It permits ladies to rid themselves of deeply embedded manly values, views as well as bias concerning their physique and also their sexuality. 13. Lastly, the lawful system as well as other social and economic frameworks adjusted themselves to mirror most of the abovementioned revolutionary change. Being inertial and difficult, they reacted gradually, partially and also gradually. Still, they did respond. Any type of contrast between the scenario simply twenty years ago and also today is likely to disclose considerable distinctions. However this change is just a segment of a much bigger one. In the past, the axes with which we opened our conversation were very closely and seemingly completely linked. The Economic, the Social and the Psychological (the axis bought the conservation of societal mores as well as ideologies) formed one amalgam - and the Exclusive, the Familial and the Utilitarian-Rational made up one more. Therefore, culture motivated individuals to get married due to the fact that it was mentally dedicated to a societal-economic ideological background which infused the family members with sacredness, a historical goal and grandeur. Regardless of social sights of the family members, most of males and females got wed from a cold economic computation that related to the household as a functioning financial unit, within which the private properly negotiates. Forming family members was the most reliable way understood to generate wide range, accumulate it as well as transfer it across time as well as space to future generations. These typical assemblages of axes were diametrically turned around in the last couple of years. The Social and Economic axes together with the Practical (Reasonable) axis as well as the Psychological axis are now straightened with the Personal and Familial axes. In other words, nowadays society urges individuals to obtain wed because it wants to optimize their financial outcome. However most people do not see it by doing this. They pertain to the household as a secure emotional sanctuary. The distinction in between previous and present may be subtle yet it is by no means trivial. In the past, individuals used to share emotions in routine, socially dictated means, wearing their ideas and also beliefs on their sleeves as it were. The family members was one of these modes of expression. Yet truly, it acted as a simple financial device, lacking any kind of emotional involvement as well as web content. Today, individuals are seeking to the household for psychological sustenance (romantic love, friendship) and also not as a tool to improve their social as well as economic standing. Producing a family members is no more the means to take full advantage of utility. Yet these brand-new assumptions have actually undercuted the household. Both men and women seek emotional comfort as well as true friendships within it when they cannot locate it, utilize their newfound self-sufficiency and also liberties as well as divorce. To summarize:. Males and female used to want to the family members for financial and also social assistance. Whenever the family members fell short as a financial and also social launching pad - they lost interest in it as well as started trying to find adulterous choices. This trend of disintegration was better improved by technological advancement which encouraged self-sufficiency and also extraordinary social division. It was culture at large which related to families emotionally, as part of the prevailing belief. The duties have reversed. Culture now has the tendency to see the family in a utilitarian-rational light, as an effective mode of organization of financial and social task. As well as while in the past, its participants pertained to the family members mostly in a utilitarian-rational manner (as a wealth creating device) - currently they desire a lot more: psychological assistance and friendship. In the eyes of the individual, households were transformed from economic production units to emotional powerhouses. In the eyes of culture, families were changed from components of emotional and spiritual ideological background to utilitarian-rational manufacturing devices. This change of axes and emphases is bridging the conventional gap between males and females. Ladies had actually always accentuated the emotional side of being in a couple as well as of the family. Guy always stressed the convenience as well as the utility of the family members. This gap made use of to be unbridgeable. Male acted as traditional social representatives, females as revolutionaries. Just what is occurring to the organization of the household today is that the revolution is ending up being mainstream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGa9MVMC_p0

They treat us like criminals for having mental health issues. Imagine having ODD and doing the opposite of what they tell you because they weren't that reasonable. Even if they were, it's your life. Noone can boss you around. They are supposed to help, not force you into doing things. The person always has the right to change their mind. What's good for them can change and they are supposed to decide that.
Economically speaking(as an analogy) if a person decides working too much doesn't bring enough comfort to their life, because they don't value money much and they decide to laze more earn less, and they're happier with it; YOU DON'T FORCE THEM TO WORK MORE TO EARN MORE BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING THAT AND THINKS IT'S MORE FAVOURABLE. They are doing their optimal and it's the best decision for them. It's the optimal for the society too. Their objective function work differently. Making them comply with societal standards will just increase total misery. It's going to distrupt the working flow of others too because they're not enthusiastic about it.
Having everyone behaving a standard way is like saying everyone should earn the same wage. (Although I might agree on the latter with some provisions about exceptions and different rewarding mechanisms as long as noone is forced to work in a way they don't want to.) As long as it doesn't harm someone else, even if it's harming oneself, it should be up to their decision. Noone needs someone else making decisions for them. Some differences are respected while others are stigmatised. This is how you start to oppress marginalised people.
in a truly collaborative and ethical psychiatry, the concept of "noncompliance" would be obsolete. it would be LAUGHABLE, because the patient would set their own goals for treatment and would have ultimate power over whether or not they changed or met them.
sure, there would be ambivalence + psychosis + skipped appts + self-sabotaging but that would be seen through the patient's perspective- do you call it noncompliance when you stay up later than intended or go out drinking with friends when you swore you'd save money?
to "comply" is to yield to an order. we don't need to be ordered to stop suffering- we need partners in our efforts to minimize it.
