I just came across a tweet saying that Aaron Bushnell--the man who burned himself to death while yelling Free Palestine until he couldn't anymore--will be "in the history books" and that phrase has been coming up a lot. And it chafes me every time I read it, every time I hear it.
Cause, a. no, a lot of this won't be in the American history books. American atrocities, especially those overseas but even those against American people (especially American people of color), don't go in the literal history books. Or the figurative ones. Most American atrocities are wiped from the collective memory... sometimes as soon as they happen. They go unreported (like the first person to self immolate to protest this genocide), they go erased, they go whitewashed, they go falsely recontextualized, and they get twisted into pro-America sentiment--we were right for those atrocities, we were wrong for them but we learned, we didn't learn from it but we felt bad about it and should be comforted for that soreness.
And b. is harder to verbalize but I'm gonna try. It feels... performative in the literal sense. Like we only value what is happening today out of deference for how people in the future will perceive it. We aren't doing anything to change anything NOW, to care about other people NOW, but so that one day... we'll be remembered a caring. Like this man killed himself as gesture, as a move for his legacy.
And I see this phrase--"this will be remembered in the history books"--whipped out in extremely horrific contexts. A child's dead body hanging off a wall, "oh, this will be in the history books." What does that even mean? Was her death worth the historical context? Was it necessary to embellish the horror of it all?
Would the people reading these hypothetical history books not get the wrongness of the genocide without the death of a little girl that you're using as... window dressing?
It just seems so weirdly self satisfied. Like you're eager to note you just witnessed a real moment that people will remember decades from now. When... a lot of people won't which is what is so tragic. A lot of people don't even know it's happening right now.
Because, again, it's not being reported. And when it is being reported it's not being reported honestly.
I'm not saying this well but it just feels like such a gross reaction to things we're seeing in real time.
Why does it have to matter later to matter now? Why is the hypothetical reaction of a history book reader the thing you think about?
A lot of people won't live to read those "history books" because people, right now, aren't doing anything to help them.

The Odyssey would have been a lot shorter if Odysseus gave the Cyclops weed instead of wine.
#the odyssey#odysseus#non mdzs#Worse part of this is that this isn't even the first time he's seen this movie.#I don't think I captured the sheer genuine confusion and distress when the Nobody gambit came up.#Mans had his world upheaved for a moment. Know the risks when you blaze it I suppose.#My dad has great taste in films and I can always count on him recommending something really unique.#We've been going through various Odyssey adaptations and I must say; Odyssey (1997) is a good one.#Telemachus is appropriately a moody and emotional (crybaby) teen boy.#Hermes is the twinkiest little fruit I have every seen. No exaggeration. It is truly a sight to bear witness to.#Athena is sadly a weak point. And while the olive tree is constantly drawn attention to...there's no wedding bed gambit.#Penelope fans will really enjoy how she has lots of good scenes. Her plight runs parallel through the whole movie!#The scene with Anticlea on the beach particularly stands out. 'You'are my mother! You're my father! You are my strength!'#She's losing everything and everyone important to her. She has no control in her life or her home.#All she can do is wait and keep her head high despite the rising waters. God I love her.#All in all; I highly recommend this one as another good adaptation. It rearranges and cuts out some scenes but hits the mark overall.

Don't mind me just thinking that as some point Stanley had an actual friend in the streets and that friend so happened to have a lot in common with him.
They are always on the move but every now and then they catch up and then, one day he finds his friend (I imagine a girl but it doesn't really matter) all...broken. Turns out they were an older sibling and they wanted to reconcile with their sibling but... heartbreakingly, they were told they were disgusting for the life they led- along with many other awful things.
(Tw suicide)
"You're my best friend, (fake name)...if that's even your name" they say and Stanley is just knelt down with them, holding his only friend close "everytime I look at you it's like looking in the mirror"
And just like that something breaks in both of them as Stanley feels his pockets empty, the familiar weight of a gun gone as his friend stands up. He's too afraid to look but the 'click' gives it away as to where the gun is.
Stanley finds himself calling their friend's name, a silent plea as he asks for the gun back-
"You're my best friend, surely you don't want me to keep suffering" they say "You, out of everyone else, should know what it's like. I've seen it, the way you eye the edge of the roof too longingly even though you're afraid of height, the revolver in your car with only a bullet-"
"There's nothing left" His friend says "one day you're going to have that little hope ripped away from you too, you know? No one cares about folks like us"
"I care about you" Stanley finds himself saying
"But it's not me who you want to care for...just like it's not you who I want to care for" it hurts but Stanley knows they're right...deep down the similarities of one another were overshadowed by the similarities of their own siblings.
Stanley watched his friend(?) press the gun to their jaw and is unable to ask them not to so instead he closes his eyes, clenches his eyelids closed so hard he sees colorful spots fly in his blackened vision.
"Look at me" a hand tugs on the back of his hair, it's so familiar and violent from hands that were so caring once that Stanley let's his eyes fly open in shock
"I want you to watch because this is going to be you one day"
"N-no.." his voice doesn't sound his, it sounds foreign and small and...helpless. The pain in his heart agrees with his friend, it aches as he is powerless against the hold on his hair and his gun, hopeless as they pull the trigger and red obscures his vision.
Everything is a little blurry and quiet apart from what was once a gentle and familiar body hitting the floor with a THUMP.
#and the moment he goes to Ford and he is told to get away- its this moment that plays and a voice in his head that says “told you so”#like he truly believes that HE WILL DIE if his family doesnt want him anymore after witnessing this#this is important to me because its stanley faced with HIMSELF in a way#tw suicide#uwu#prompt#but very specific#stangst#stanley pines#gravity falls#stan pines

I am here to make puppy eyes at you and ask for Cub and Scar tidbits pretty please? <3
-🎀
YES HI RIBBON ANON!!!
Ohhh what to say about Cub and Scar... <3
Both of them are vex hybrids, of course, and I'm not sure how much I've talked about their Past™ before, but... the general idea is that they originally did live with other vex. But the Bad Kind. The kind that the hunters of the other world envisioned all vex hybrids to be.
Cub remembers it, but Scar really doesn't, because one day, Cub took the both of them and ran. This is why Scar doesn't know much about how to handle his vex instincts/magic at the beginning of our story, because it's something he was never really familiar with.
The thing about Cub, too, is, maybe he could have fit in there. It's not like the vex there were Evil, just... brutal. Focused on expanding their magic to its very limits. Strict and aggressive.
It's Scar who did not belong. Scar who had big dreams, a creative mind, and the brightest laugh.
Cub couldn't bear to watch the vex squander that. So one day he grabbed Scar and they fled.
Because of this, they're each other's only family, even if not directly related.
And speaking of family, did you know there are other sorts of vex bites besides the mating ones? The idea is definitely borrowed from omegaverse lore (shhhh), namely the diagram from this post here. It's only a loose similarity though, so don't take all of that info as canon to hhau! But another notable mark is that of a parental/familial bond—
Cub marked Scar when they were young. Scar doesn't even remember it. It's on the back of his neck, almost completely obscured by his hairline. You're never going to see it unless you know what to look for.
And with this little ritual comes a magic-laced bond—nothing too significant really, but it means Cub can always feel a sort of tug toward Scar's presence. It's subtle, almost unnoticeable, just an instinctual sort of thing... but imagine how Cub felt waking up from the destruction of Season 8 to having that feeling suddenly gone.
It's how the rescue team tracks down Scar as well. Scar alone.
And isn't it sad how all of those things Cub tried to protect Scar from happened anyways in that other world? Scar comes back with a white streak in his hair and Cub knows exactly what that means. Scar comes back on edge, claws out, ready to pounce and bare his teeth and it absolutely breaks Cub's heart.
But Scar and Grian also come back together, and that mating mark doesn't escape Cub's knowing eyes.
He's definitely one of the few Hermits to understand that the bond Grian and Scar have together is not something to be concerned about in the slightest. It's natural, really, just maybe not for what the Hermits have come to understand vexes to be like. Because Cub and Scar (up until now) have not been your typical vexes!
It's a little difficult, as a vex himself, to really change the minds of anyone else alone, but what he does do is make sure Scar knows he's there for him. He's still family and Scar is still Scar, despite everything that happened to him.
I actually wrote a mini-fic of sorts about hhau Cub and Scar back in April, but the premise is... very silly. I'm not sure if I'll share the whole thing LOL
buuuuuut you can have this <3 ~
#hhau#ribbon anon#link answers#cubbywubby cub cub!!!!!#i honestly have even more i could say about them#their bond is so so important#and id say cub is one of about 3 hermits who fully understand that what scar and grian have is genuinely a good thing#the other two being gem and impulse who witnessed that intimate moment between them during the rescue#and then skizz i suppose by extension pfff#also yes i will shamelessly borrow from omegaverse#hhau is always an indulgent rp between me and ange first and foremost after all hehe#also#link writes#i suppose

Reading 'The Mysterious Affair at Styles' and 'Death on the Nile' right after each other is sooo fascinating because Poirot truly is like "Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself; I am large, I contain multitudes."
#'love is the most important thing there is' vs 'love is not all there is. we only believe that when we're young'#and you expect me to be fine?????#so much potential in these sentences.........#so many ways to interpret them...................#personally i think poirot is an artist#working with words his intelligence wit and his charm#and his desire to do good#and he chooses the most fitting advice for the moment#still. i believe he's a romantic in his heart but also looks reality dead in the eye#no wonder he gets bitter sometimes#character analysis over.#hercule poirot#poirot#agatha christie's poirot#the mysterious affair at styles#death on the nile

i am not anti-media-piracy, in fact i support it heartily on the media preservation level, and i have mixed but partially positive feelings about it on the individual choice/saving money level...
but the way some people talk about piracy like it's a heroic thing to do - not in the preservation sense, but in the 'fuck companies!!! if i can get something for free and screw them over, I'm fighting capitalism!' sense - oh some people sound like real goobers with those arguments.
#to me it's ... complicated#bc 100% i don't want media to be lost#and i have lots and lots of issues iwth the way modern entertainment companies try to extract profits/don't share revenue appropriately wit#all the people who actually MAKE the art.#i have lots of issues with that...!#however i am also an artist and have the crazy belief that art including movies tv games etc has value#and in our current world... paying for art/entertainment you enjoy is like... the way to ensure it is possible#do i dream of a utopia with UBI/guaranteed arts funding where we didn't have to depend on corporations to make art as investments?#of course i do!#however i don't believe that is likely to come to pass anytime soon....#and like... no i dont think anyone is a Rotten Person to the Core for pirating tv/movies#however. i do firmly believe that paying for art when you are able and when you value it is important.#some people will be like 'boohoo poor companies are mad that i dont pay for their product when i can pirate it for free!!!!'#like yes? it costs a lot of money to make! of course they want a profit#i have issues with the degree to which profits are extracted to the wealthy few in the present day#and i have issues/worries about the fundamental monetization structures of TV especially at the current moment#but i do not have an issue with the basic premise that companies would fund expensive large-scale art (like tv or movies) and expect to mak#a profit from funding such a large project#imo if u truly wanna pretend you're pirating in an anticapitalist way#you'd pirate something then venmo the normal cost to a random employee who worked on the production#lmao#that's still obviously a little flawed but like. u get my point? good. i hope ur having a good day#hypothetical person who reads my rambling tags this deep.#d

like most Christian movies risen is cheesy and biblically dubious at times and gets loads of cultural stuff wrong for the sake of being recognizable to a primarily American audience but I'll readily admit the poor roman tribune's absolute bafflement at these religious weirdos who keep talking about love and stuff has me cackling unhingedly
Like, is it sound biblical doctrine and is it historical believable? No? Is it hilarious and do I enjoy seeing this random shmuck lose his mind going through what's essentially a very disturbing psychological thriller from his pov while the disciples are overflowing with joy? You bet??
The guy is dealing with horrifyingly decomposed dead bodies trying to find the right cadaver and previously sane soldiers going crazy and dead men being spotted alive and strange supernatural phenomena and angry gods and unexplained madness and religious fanatism spreading like a contagion, and meanwhile the disciples (and Jesus) are all like HELLO BROTHER WOULD YOU LIKE TO HEAR ABOUT THE BEST NEWS EVER :D :D :D
#Help my man Clavius he didn't ask for none of this#I gotta admit this is the first time in a while I've enjoyed any part of a Christian movie#even if most of it has me rolling my eyes and going “THAT'S not how it happened”#THE DISCIPLES WOULDN'T PRONOUNCE THE NAME OF GOD AND THE HOLY SHROUD IS BOGUS (for starters)#And there was no stranger - much less a roman - when Jesus appeared to the apostles#But I AM having fun with the tonal dissonance#Poor clavius is dreaming of blood and storms and his sanity is crumbling to dust and it feels like the end of the world#while to everyone who knows what's going on it's the single greatest thing that has ever happened and ever will#Risen 2016#Resurrection#Bible movies#(Also in the list of things that get on my nerves no the spreading of the Gospel didn't hinge on one roman protecting the apostles)#(I hope they psychologically disturb that man some more he doesn't get to think he's that important)#(Centering a roman while getting some pretty basic stuff about Jewish culture wrong is also annoying)#(The beginning of the church are entirely and unambiguously JEWISH.)#(This character is like. 10 chapters too early.)#(Peter doesn't announce the Gospel to a roman until WELL after Jesus has ascended to heaven and even then it takes a direct order from God)#(And cornelius was already a follower of God and not pagan.)#(So Clavius just doesn't fit. And inserting a pagan guy as a witness to Jesus' most intimate moments with his disciples feels off)#The Gospel doesn't spill to the nations until God decrees it's time for it to happen. I don't like this romanisation#But again the first half of the movie had me laughing even though I could rant about its flaws for two hours

Kim is a,fascist
are you stupid
#actually you perfectly articulated why i believe tumblr DE fans to be incredibly annoying and foolish#like im gonna explain more on this here in the tags#this is what i mean by the fact that i think not everyone should play this game#its a very complicated story and it requires you to really pick things apart and pay attention#and have really in depth uncomfortable conversations#many of those being political#its not an easy game to dive into and it takes a shitton of concentration and the willingness to put yourself in a space where youre ok wit#having really uncomfortable discussions and challenging your world view#and if you are not used to doing so without having basic kneejerk reactions to things and are someone who just doesnt allow themselves to#STOP AND FUCKING THINK#then DE is not going to be a game that will have any impact upon you#like yeah its got funny moments and people love to call it the funny communism game#but that is seriously such a pathetic way to look at a story that discusses the EXTREMELY COMPLICATED impact of systematic issues#like its a story that is not American or Western Centric made and that in and of itself is very important#the formation of the RCM is the specific way it is to have complicated conversations#so that one can hopefully avoid making really fucking stupid comments like the one you sent here#which btw reeks of you being American jsyk#anyway if you played this game and this was your take away just block me already#youre not someone who thinks#thats very clear#once you idk actually play the game and wanna have in depth conversations with me lmk#disco elysium

WHICH RAGE LANGUAGE ARE YOU?
STEP BACK.
usually, you're able to bottle up your emotions and ignore the frustrations. but, after weeks of shoving everything down, your body needs a release, and i pity the poor person who managed to piss you off. it's screaming crying, shouting, kicking lockers, whatever you can do to get it out of your system. it's a whole jean grey moment, fire and fury blasting out of you.

Howdy folks, the Senate will be considering a major resolution blocking arms to Israel. This is huge and historic; it would block government contracting and about $20 billion in arms and support. This is an uphill battle, PLEASE urge your senators to support S.J.Res114-115. This is maybe the most important piece of legislation relating to Palestine that we have ever gotten and we must seize this opportunity.
This doc has information on the resolutions and their process, as well as sample messages and a phone script you can use. Please, use this moment to hear witness for your neighbors.

𝜗𝜚˚⋆ CEO KENTO FUCKING HIS WIFE
Tw- reader is his secretary n wife!!! ꒰ᐢ. .ᐢ꒱ not proofread :p
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/655a75dfdaa44724544c56d0d2021bd4/7885fa1f15bf06b0-68/s540x810/b359a984c5d453fe0d0bb300b03b6451277af88c.jpg)
Thinking about CEO Nanami fucking his hot ribbons of cum further into his secretary wife’s cunt. :3 Your upper half is craning over his polished work desk and your limbs are shaking and strained from being crammed in the same position for so fucking long.
Your once well-ironed pencil skirt is now bunched up around your waist and the pristine buttons of your white blouse struggle to contain the ripe swell of your breasts that's smushed and spilling out onto his important documents— exposing all the purple hickeys and love marks that he imprinted on you earlier for the whole world to see.
His once orderly combed golden blonde hair is now in disarray, matted with damped sweat and his bangs fell across his hazel eyes, hindering his vision as he struggled to keep up his vigorous pace— he teetered on the verge of losing his mind as he feverishly gazed down at the sight of his creamy pool of cum threatening to spill from your stretched-out hole.
Streams of his milky sperm are trailing down your tender thighs, glistening under the ambient light and pooling on the sleek marble floor. As his swollen cockhead nudges the remnants of his release deeper into the depths of your womb and stroking your overstimulated walls to the verge of tears.
You let out a high-pitched whine in response to the overwhelming overstimulation following your blissful and toe-curling orgasm just from a minute ago.
You desperately tried to wiggle your hips to detach yourself from his toned pelvis in an attempt to break free from his harsh hold which only earned you a burly groan from the blonde because of your sudden movements making his sensitive shaft drowning deeper into the tight depths of your drooling cunny. And it was obviously no use because of his unyielding grip on the sides of your ass cheeks that was leaving you trapped in his powerful grasp.
“Kennn…sir! What if someone sees—“You fussed worriedly, your heart racing as you quickly realized the precariousness of the situation. Anyone could open the door at any moment and witness their usually dignified and honorable boss entangled in such a disheveled and scandalous scene— his slacks shamelessly pulled down his ankles while he was slamming his hefty shaft and stretching out his wife's pretty cunt like a possessed madman. He’s like a whole different person this way.
You're seemingly trying your best to hold onto the desk for dear life as he frantically pounds your aching cunt with an intense rhythm, causing your tummy to press hard against the unforgiving surface and making it a challenge to keep your balance and remain upright because of how sore you are.
“Then I’ll fucking fire them, no one is stopping me from breeding my wife’s pretty pussy.” he babbled stupidly. “Can’t wait to have cute little blonde babies with your gorgeous eyes running around, darling”. His voice dripped with possessiveness and was raw with desire as he eagerly expressed his anticipation for starting a family with you. :(
You immediately whimpered at his intriguing words, your body betrays you and somehow you don’t even give a fuck about anyone seeing when you were arching your back deeper against him and pressing your chest further into the cool surface of the desk as you took the rest of his relentless pounding.
The sensation of his heavy balls rubbing against your puffy clit with each forceful thrust was practically sending you spiraling into another orgasm. He leaned over you— pressing his weight into your supple form, showering your back with a trail of fervent kisses. “You’re mine, all mine” he declared with a deep growl, his breath quickening as his throbbing cock pulsated against your slick, tight walls.
And then when you’re approaching your next orgasm, he’s babbling a bunch of shit you never even expected to hear escaping from Kento's lips. Telling you “cum for me again sweetheart, let everyone hear how fucking slutty my sweet submissive wife is”.
You made a split-second decision to glance over your shoulder and caught a glimpse of how fucked out and messy Kento looked with his tie askew, his chiseled face flushed, and beads of sweat glistening everywhere. Maybe your husband is losing his mind after all.

for whom good omens is being written
Hey maggots and the rest of the fandom, it's the Good Omens Mascot here. Today I read a post about this tweet:
The accompanying video genuinely made me cry. And I've been thinking about this for a long while, as far back as February, when I saw a lot of conflicting opinions on what people wanted from the third season. It really is true that no matter what you do, some people will be dissatisfied. But what matters is that Neil is writing this for Terry.
And I was reminded of some paragraphs from the Good Omens TV Companion, which I'd read in Amazon's sample excerpt of the book. I know this is a long post, but I really truly do think you all need to read these, I've done my best to select only the most important parts. Here you go:
'His Alzheimer's started progressing harder and faster than either of us had expected,' says Neil, referring to a period in which Terry recognized that despite everything he could no longer write. 'We had been friends for over thirty years, and during that time he had never asked me for anything. Then, out of the blue, I received an email from him with a special request. It read: “Listen, I know how busy you are. I know you don't have time to do this, but I want you to write the script for Good Omens. You are the only human being on this planet who has the passion, love and understanding for the old girl that I do. You have to do this for me so that I can see it." And I thought, “OK, if you put it like that then I'll do it."
'I had adapted my own work in the past, writing scripts for Death: The High Cost of Living and Sandman, but not a lot else was seen. I'd also written two episodes of Doctor Who, and so I felt like I knew what I was doing. Usually, having written something once I'd rather start something new, but having a very sick co-author saying I had to do this?' Neil spreads his hands as if the answer is clear to see. 'I had to step up to the plate.' A pause, then: 'All this took place in autumn 2014, around the time that the BBC radio adaptation of Good Omens was happening,' he continues, referring to the production scripted and co-directed by Dirk Maggs and starring Peter Serafinowicz and Mark Heap. ‘Terry had talked me into writing the TV adaptation, and I thought OK, I have a few years. Only I didn't have a few years,' he says. 'Terry was unconscious by December and dead by March.'
He pauses again. 'His passing took all of us by surprise,' Neil remembers. 'About a week later, I started writing, and it was very sad. The moments Terry felt closest to me were the moments I would get stuck during the writing process. In the old days, when we wrote the novel, I would send him what I'd done or phone him up. And he would say, "Aahh, the problem, Grasshopper, is in the way you phrase the question," and I would reply, "Just tell me what to do!" which somehow always started a conversation. 'In writing the script, there were times I'd really want to talk to Terry, and also places where I'd figure something out and do something really clever, and I would want to share it with him. So, instead, I would text Terry's former personal assistant, Rob Wilkins, now his representative on Earth. It was the nearest thing I had.'
(...) As Neil himself recognizes, this is an adaptation built upon the confidence that comes from three decades of writing for page and screen. But for all the wisdom of experience, he found that above all one factor guided him throughout the process. 'Terry isn't here, which leaves me as the guardian of the soul of the story,' he explains. 'It's funny because sometimes I found myself defending Terry's bits harder or more passionately than I would defend my own bits. Take Agnes Nutter,' he says, referring to what has become a key scene in the adaptation in which the seventeenth-century author of the book of prophecies foretelling the coming of the Antichrist is burned at the stake. ‘It was a huge, complicated and incredibly expensive shoot, with bonfires built and primed to explode as well as huge crowds in costume. It had to feel just like an English village in the 1640s, and of course everyone asked if there was a cheap way of doing it. 'One suggestion was that we could tell the story using old-fashioned woodcuts and have the narrator take us through what happened, but I just thought, “No”. Because I had brought aspects of the story like Crowley and the baby swap along to the mix, and Terry created Agnes Nutter. So, if I had cut out Agnes then I wouldn't be doing right by the person who gave me this job. Terry would've rolled over in his grave.'
And, finally, this paragraph:
"Once again, Neil cites the absence of his co-writer as his drive to ensure that Good Omens translated to the screen and remained true to the original vision. 'Terry's last request to me was to make this something he would be proud of. And so that has been my job.'"
I think that's so heartwrenchingly beautiful, and so I wanted you all to read this, too, just in case you (like me) don't have the Good Omens TV Companion. It adds another layer of depth and emotion to this already complex and amazing story that we all know and love.
