#for personal reasons. it is a very big NOTP for me. which is why I avoid talking about Burned Grey despite really liking that chapter

all the Cold drawings for the championship reminding just how much I love this birb……………
'emontionless' characters usually falls into two categories: geniuses way to smart to let themselves be carried off by emotions, and Unambiguously Evil Bad Guys Who Are Bad Because They Don't Feel Love™️. And I'll forever be grateful to BTG for completely sidestepping those portrayals.
Cold may have an ego, and likes to poke at others for fun, but they're never portrayed as evil just for the sake of it. And he isn't any sorta genius by a long shot. She's pretty insightful with her unorthodox way of thinking, and how easily it can entertain different ideas at once, but that's just one way intelligence can manifest, and is not above or below any other.
And I especially appreciate how when put against Smitten, the voice that most symbolizes love and care for another, her perspective isn't being put in a negative light by the narrative (tho it certainly is by Smitten); it is simply presented as is; a perspective. "How can you even be alive?" "I don't know. I just am."
And as someone who heavily relates to how Cold approaches emotions, I really love what they did with this character.

Been thinking about why I found Arthur in the Dark so impressive and it made me realise something kinda significant. Something significant that I’m going to put under a read more because it revolves around a heavy subject. So I wouldn’t advise looking beyond the cut if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing.
Less important, but everything below is a big spoiler and, guys seriously. If you like USUK and can handle darker fiction - no pun intended - give AitD a try. Don’t spoil yourself here. Go try it first and then come back if you’re interested. Try it if you’re neutral on USUK. Or, heck, even if USUK is a ship you dislike but isn’t an outright NOTP. I’d still recommend checking out this comic. Arthur in the Dark is still worth a read in my opinion. It’s that good. But enough gushing. Read on for the meat of this post.
Ready? Here we go: Arthur in the Dark has one of the best depictions of rape I’ve ever seen in a piece of media. “Best” as in most skillfully crafted for narrative purposes. Honestly and truly. Not even kidding. Which is kind of amazing considering it’s a depiction that came from a fan comic based on a jokey, anime gag series. Why do I feel this way? A couple of reasons:
Firstly, the rape in AitD is frighteningly, tragically realistic. Something the majority of fictional rapes are not. We tend to think of rape as taking place in a dark alley in the inner city. Stereotyping up a scene of a bottom feeder, criminal man dragging a (young, attractive) woman away to violate her. They’re usually total strangers and it’s always violent. These kind of rapes do happen, but statistics tell us they’re the minority. The majority of rapes happen like the one in AitD did: between two people who know each other well. Friends, romantic couples, even family members, make up the bulk of rapists and their victims.
Most narratives prefer the less common type of rape. Usually because the creator doesn’t want to tell a story about rape. Not really. What they want is a gut-punch to add easy drama and darkness to their creation. The sliding scale of “irredeemable bad guy” roughly goes: murderer → cold blooded torturer → rapist → child rapist. Making a villain a rapist is one of the worst things he - because 99% of the time it’s a he - can be. Conversely having a character be raped gains them instant sympathy because people are moral and empathetic creatures at heart. Most creators know this and throw in a rape for the shorthand: “Look how evil our villain is!” Which often makes the rape and its aftermath feel artificial. In no small part because the rapist characters, by virtue of being written to be the worst of the worst, don’t come off as very human. They can’t be when their main purpose is to be loathed by the audience. I could go on because there’s tons more to unpack about rape in fiction, but you get the point.
The rape in AitD isn’t like that. America and England know and love each other. Their relationship is complicated (oh boy, is it ever!) but that part of it is never in doubt. They’re each other’s most treasured person and have been for centuries. They’re not a duo made up of a flat, hate bait, villain on a collision course with their victim. Who’s doomed to suffer and be pitied until the creator decides the audience has had enough of their trauma and shuts it away so the story can move on. America and England are two people living together, going through a period of immense change and stress, trying to manage as best they can, and sometimes getting it very wrong. From a narrative point of view, this makes what happens between them so much better and so much more upsetting at the same time.
Which brings me nicely to reason number two of why this particular rape works: the build up. Like everything else in AitD, America raping England is carefully planned out and set up. The chocolate bar scene, man. Brilliant, I have to say. Alarming, uncomfortable, and brilliant. The scene in the garden is not just sprung on the reader for a jarring “Oh no! Oh shit-!” moment. If your typical under written rape is a cheap jump scare, the rape in AitD is a carefully crafted slowburn dread. Early on we start to become aware we’re building to something bad. From the foreshadowing, the art, the atmosphere, etc. We just know a storm is coming. It’s done without America acting OOC too, which is very important. It’s how he can come back from what he did. Something that would be impossible if the author didn’t handle this setup well. America’s actions aren’t right, but they are understandable. That’s the crucial distinction. The psychology of the whole thing is so very well done. America was in love with England and had been for a long time. The guilt he felt tormented him because of what their relationship was in the past. Caught between his human side and his immortal one. The guilt helped keep America in check because he didn’t want England seeing the lustful way he’d begun to look at him. Then they started living together and England was suddenly vulnerable. Vulnerable in more ways than America was aware. Which is another vital detail of how the creator keeps America sympathetic, but more on that in a moment. England willingly went blind so he wouldn’t have to see when America - the man grown from the child he raised - looked at him with lust. The guilt America felt peaked, only to clash with the realisation that he could freely indulge in his fantasies. Indulge and push (again, chocolate bar scene) now the usual moral restraint - England seeing his desire - was removed.
Meanwhile, England himself felt that same guilt but his was also laced with panic and despair. He didn’t want to lose or strain his relationship with the most important person of his centuries long life. Pulled between human standards of morality and the very inhuman existence of nation-people. Incidentally the clash between their existence as humans, while also being something more than human, is brilliantly done in AitD. It’s something that’s hard to get right - especially involving such taboo topics - but Hotama nails it. USUK usually handwaves the implications around England raising America, but here it’s made part of the narrative. Part of the tragedy, part of the resolution. Good stuff. Anyway, England begged Arthur to take his sight away so he wouldn’t have to see the way America looked at him. Then banished Arthur back into the dark in an attempt to run away from his problems. But without Arthur - without his strength - England couldn’t stand up to America when he needed to. Not that America was aware of any of this because he never knew about Arthur. Which brings me to point three: nuance of blame.
“Blame” is a very loaded word in this context, so I’ll do my best to talk about this carefully. Rape in the media is almost always black and white. Absolutely evil, irredeemable rapist. Absolutely blameless, sympathetic victim. But real life isn’t always that simple. Obviously the rapist is always the perpetrator and the one most in the wrong. I need to make that very clear. But the scene in AitD illustrates that sometimes a victim could have done more to help themselves. Not always, but sometimes. This is a delicate subject so I hope you understand I’m not trying to victim blame. Just saying that rape, like all crimes, doesn’t always deal in absolutes. Unlike media, real life is often complicated and tragic. Good people can give in to temptation. Be weak, do bad things, or allow those bad things to happen. England told America to stop, but failed to follow it up when needed. When America pushed for more and used England’s own words to argue he’d already been given consent, that was when England needed to push back. Interpretation comes in here but, personally, I think if England had told America to stop when prompted, America would have. But England didn’t and he gave in instead. Something America took as a tacit “yes.” Again, not right, but understandable in how it could happen. Their power imbalance had grown extreme, stress and feelings were running high, they were struggling to connect as they used to, England’s prior cowardice and separation from Arthur prevented him from being strong when he needed to be, America was ignorant of his problem, and it all came together in a horrible, tragic mistake. All throughout, the rape continued to be brilliantly, awfully realistic. America not noticing - either genuinely or from denial - that England was not enjoying what was happening. England quickly becoming too distracted by the pain to do anything other than focus on enduring it. Then the aftermath where America didn’t realise what he’d just done due to coming down from a post-sex, post-stress euphoria. Awful, miserable, horrifying, tragic, perfectly crafted scene.
Which brings me to my final reason why this comic impressed me in its depiction of rape: where the story goes from there. Where it goes and how the narrative builds from the rape instead of trying to move on because the “shocking” part is over and now we’re in diminishing returns. Going back to my first point, too many stories see rape as something that happens in an isolated part of the narrative. It happened, it was shocking and brutal, now it’s done and we can move on because we didn’t plan to interweve the rape with the rest of the story. So we won’t give it the weight it needs. At best the victim might get a few scenes expressing their trauma later on - maybe a callback or two - but that’s it. It’s shallow. Plenty of fictional rapes could be replaced with a savage beating and nothing would change. In the worst cases you could remove the rape, not replace it with anything, then run the story with minimal problems. Not so in AitD. There, the rape isn’t just another semi-important plot point. It’s a crucial one which couldn’t be replaced with anything else. The whole first part of the story, the engine of the narrative, is built around America and England failing to deal with their changing relationship. A relationship between a pair of humans who also happen to be strange, immortal beings that ordinary humans can’t understand. Changing from platonic/familial to romantic over hundreds of years. With romance comes lust. Lust can be perfectly healthy just like any other bodily appetite. In this case it became twisted by circumstance, and the only “suitable” narrative payoff was rape. Nothing else would have had the necessary impact.
Then there’s how the rape compares to the final sex scene in some classic narrative juxtaposition. The final sex scene which happens to be the only one in the comic that’s fully consensual on both sides. The one that goes beyond sex and becomes real, honest to goodness lovemaking. It’s a perfect contrast. The rape scene had all the trappings of a classic romance. Right down to it being their first time and taking place in a rose garden. But it’s tragic, horrifying, and deeply unsexy. Then, near the end of their story, America and Arthur get lost on their road trip and have sex in their car. Their crappy, cramped car, where they’re surrounded by ordinary luggage, both of them sweaty and a little cranky with each other after a long day. It’s awkward, ordinary, imperfect and gorgeous. If we didn’t have the rape before to show us the nadir of this relationship, the healing and the dawn that came after wouldn’t be half so meaningful. A very strange thing to say without context, but it was a perfectly done rape that gave the audience the payoff of perfectly done lovemaking. It’s no small feat to get a reader to cheer for a romantic resolution after all of the above. Kind of in awe of Hotama’s skills, I tell you what.
Up to this point and I don’t know what else there is to say other than, geez. This comic, man. Blew me away. I’m so happy I rediscovered my interest in Hetalia if for no other reason than I got to read Arthur in the Dark. I’m a bit of a bookworm in my spare time and I’ve read quite a lot of classic literature over the years. Classic literature with rape scenes not crafted half so well as AitD did. Really think about that. An amateur fan comic based on a jokey gag series about national personifications being silly with each other. Did better at something than the books we hold up as the best of the best. Can’t really say anything else than that is genuinely bloody amazing

either cam or gideon for the character thing!!!
GAH!!!! picking gideon because you already did cam also i want to talk about gideon nav my best friend gideon nav
favorite thing about them: how do i even begin.... i love that she isn't a hero and doesn't become one through the narrative, i love that she is so blatantly posturing all of the time and she builds herself up to be this big confident sexy funnyman because she needs that to keep herself afloat but what she is in reality isn't any lesser! she is funny and she's shy and nervous and she's so powerfully butch to the bone in a way that avoids all negative stereotypes but still manages to highlight the pitfalls butches find themselves in. she has so many layers and people reduce her to some kind of himbo when in reality she's objectively both too mean and too intelligent to be a himbo. i love that you can sense from the very beginning that she is sitting on a massive broiling lake of sadness and for all of her posturing she is both incredibly delicate and one of the strongest characters in the story. i love that she sucks so bad and died a virgin like christ jesus and even missing half her soul she remains consistent not in her outward personality but in her ability to shield her soft underbelly through some sort of performative attitude but EVERYONE can see right through her except gideon herself because everything she does is loud and annoying. she's impulsive and passionate and. incredibly annoying. i hate her and she's my favorite person ever
least favorite thing about them: probably the war crimes but it's not like she's passionate about war crimes she just doesn't gaf. this is just what a lesbian situationship will do to a guy
favorite line: literally all of them man everything she says makes me laugh.... here are some standouts though: - "If my heart had a dick you would kick it" - "I have lots of fealty in me. I fealt the Emperor with every bone in my body. I fealt hard" - "You've got two short minutes left before I punch you right in the butthole" - everything she says when talking to ianthe
brOTP: her and camilla ooooohhhh..... also her and pal. gideon works so well with the sixth house because they're just as annoying and generally peculiar as her they're just more lowkey about it
OTP: i'd have to say griddlehark because i have never stopped thinking about them ever but i do enjoy gideon x camilla (i forgot their ship name) because the cav4cav shit is so good godddd they're just two sides of the same coin, the same story with different upbringings they would help each other out
nOTP: not a huge fan of gideon and corona just because i think corona needs to chase someone who doesn't like her for enrichment purposes and gideon's schoolgirl crush on corona probably doesn't translate well into an actual relationship (let's be real though none of these relationships are going "well") but it is an interesting dynamic
random headcanon: i think she is really gross. genuinely. she picks her nose and doesn't wash her face and harrow gets on her ass about it which i guess is reasonable. also more intense but i definitely think both gideon and harrow have food issues but while harrow copes by being intensely picky gideon has some textual evidence of binge eating which makes sense to me character wise and also would explain why she developed muscle on planet malnutrition
unpopular opinion: i don't really have any once again?? i guess i like to imagine she isn't as attractive as she thinks she is but a lot of people write and draw her as a lesbian adonis which i understand because thats how she describes herself lmao. i think she's kind of cute in a weird way and tamsyn describes her as boyishly pretty so in my mind she's the kind of hot a straight man would never agree with. she is still the hottest person in the world to me
song i associate with them: I HAVE SO MANY. main ones are: father by the front bottoms, dance in room song by sipper, bodysnatchers by radiohead, suffering jukebox by silver jews, knife in the coffee by car seat headrest
favorite picture of them: this fanart: (this artist does such a delicious gideon ohhh i need her.) https://www.tumblr.com/bastardnoodle/741903153830723584/im-in-the-middle-of-reading-harrow-and-i-miss-her?source=share

Jaden for the ask game?
MY DEAR DEAR FRIEND JADEN YUKI
Why I like them/why I don’t: he's such a good character, man 😭 like what an introduction to the ygo spinoff grand lineup of characters. he's funny and charming and nuanced and so infectiously charismatic both in and out of universe i just have to love him. people tend to completely ignore his character growth in season 4 to keep him Sad Sad Turbo Depressed Forever which is such a shame, jay having to be reminded to not lose his sense of fun and passion for what he loves, something that's been so crucial to him for like half the series, is one of my favorite parts about him! he's just a fun character to watch and root for, truly one of the best yutags imho
What I like about their appearance: I love that in the grand roster of insane yugioh hair jaden rolls up and he's just. brunette. double brunette. it's delightful. kuriboh-head.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names? i have endless respect for judai as a name but he is forever going to first and foremost be jaden to me im afraid. i look at him and im just like "goddamn that is the Guy Named Jaden" ever. his impact on tboys named jaden.... unmatche
OTP: said it when i talked about aster but heroshipping numero uno <3 sooo so dear to me. i like chazz/jaden a lot too but i need there to be some catastrophe and divorce in there.
NOTP: talked already about how im not huge on the romantic jaden/yubel read, but im also not very big on jaden/syrus.... i know sometimes "uhm these characters are sibling coded" can be a bit of an asspull but this time thats like. The Text. they came like that. there is a very deliberate parallel between zane and jaden and how syrus looks up to them (and gets hurt by them.) jaden: "syrus needs his big brother" zane, dying: "he's got one" DUB LINES OF ALL TIME FOR ME. sy has two big brothers and it rules. anyway
OT3: i like the potential of jaden/chazz/jesse, i think that's a fun one.
Favourite card they use: Flame Wingman is just so fucking cool I love its tail and its color palette and its Very Genderful Implications. Also a big fan of Neo Spacian Dark Panther...all of the neo spacians are hysterical i love them
Favourite moment they were in: I FORGOT TO ANSWER THIS ONE FOR SOME REASON?!?!? god. he has a lot of great moments but my fav is the season 1 finale when duels zane. it's just such a good duel
Least favourite moment: guhhhh i have a lot of issues with the way jaden is handled in season 3 so i wont go off too much but im just not a terribly big fan of some of the elements of his personality that kind of got rather haphazardly sacrificed to make A Lot of Of All That function in the narrative (and kind of not spectacularly well.) ho hum.
Something I associate with them: Eevees, fat orange cats, and this genre of post

Could I hear your thoughts on Yugi for the ask meme?👀
Why I like them/why I don’t
God, Yugi. I have an eternal shrine in my heart to this little fella, something that I really realized after DSOD let him have center-stage and he really proved himself. Like I said with Yusei I love kind protagonists, and Yugi is (besides his perviness in the early manga) such a genuinely sweet kid. While the reasons for his wish are sad, it's so touching that his big wish with the Puzzle is just to have friends, which leads to his bonds that he forms across the series.
He's just a delight.
What I like about their appearance
Forever will adore that Takahashi had the idea of this unassuming mouse of a person having a fondness for studded leather and belts.
Also I loooooove his violet waistcoat from DSOD! All of the DSOD redesigns are dripped out but Yugi's especially is so good.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names?
I prefer spelling his surname as Muto over Mutou so dub in this case.
Performance wise, it's an even tie between Dan Green and Shunsuke Kazama, they're both perfect in the role and DSOD is a career-defining performance for both of them. I think nostalgia has to let me edge it out to Green but I'm happy listening to Yugi in either language.
One thing I'll praise in DSOD is how both Green and Kazama reflect Yugi's maturity by deepening his voice- both make Yugi sound very similar to Battle City Atem while retaining Yugi's distinctive voice. It's a great touch!
OTP
Yugi/Atem still has such a grip on me all these years later that I hold it as the standard for all Spirit Partner ships to compare against, same for Yugi/Anzu and Yugi/Jou. I just pairing him off with taller people.
NOTP
I can be won over with a good fic or art of it, but I'm not too fond of Yugi and Kaiba in a romantic sense. For me, they're both too influenced by their time with Atem that it would never sit right with either. Always happy to be wrong, but generally I prefer them having an awkward bond post-DSOD that's probably the closest Kaiba can come to a real friendship.
OT3
Technically speaking all Atem ships set during canon are OT3's with Yugi in them due to his spiritual third wheel status ha ha.
Favourite card they use
Drawing just from his solo cards and nothing in common with Atem, it's gotta be Gandora. One of the coolest dragons in the series, it's given massive gravitas whenever it appears and it earns its place as Yugi's game closer for a good reason.
Favourite moment they were in
Deliberately not just pointing to the Ceremonial Duel because it's an easy answer and would take it, because I love it so.
I need to re-read the manga so I'm probably forgetting some good moments there, but I've always loved him breaking Bakura's Undead Lock in Millennium World by just breaking out Gandora to nuke the board and leaving Bakura a screaming mess before having Silent Swordsman gut him like a fish.
In general I love that Yugi's wins regularly show him not going for raw firepower but finding a creative solution to his problems- like using effects that target Obelisk's monster zone to affect him, him using Slifer's attack weakening effect on the Gods, and trapping Aigami in an attack loop.
And of course him standing on business against Kaiba and earning his respect in DSOD. One of my favorite duels in the franchise.
Least favourite moment
Would it have killed Gallop to let Yugi duel in the Virtual World Arc even once? I feel a lot of the flack Yugi gets for coasting on Atem comes from the gap between his duel with Joey at the docks and his final duel with Bakura, so having a match here would have been nice (maybe give him the tag duel with Joey against the Big Five?).
I feel I cheat this question a lot as more "Less a moment they have in canon and more I wish that they had this moment," but ah well.
Would I fuck, marry or kill them
He's way too sweet for anything but marriage.

Jem Carstairs!
Now, be ready for LONG post, anon. You can't just ask about Jem and expect to be brief
Sexuality headcanon
Definitely Demisexual. With Tessa, I always felt like Jem became attracted to her AFTER they were already close friends and besides that one line in After the Bridge, there's no signs of Jem being attracted to anyone. He also doesn't even think of anyone besides Tessa in that, he's too oblivious.
Also, not a sexuality but I ADORE the idea of Non-binary Jem
OTP
Jem x Himself (literally and metaphorically both). While I love Jessa and until recently, didn't ship Jem with anyone else, I don't believe Tessa loves him as much as she loves W*ll, CC wrote her that way and tid books are proof.
The only person good enough for Jem is HIMSELF.
BROTP
Jem and Church, my soulmates!!!!
And even though I hate W*ll, I love Heronstairs. Well, to be specific, I love how dedicated W*ll is to Jem.
Brother Zachariah and Brother Enoch are also cute.
NOTP
Heronstairs as a romantic ship is a big No. Just no. Let people have close platonic relationships for fuck's sake.
First headcanon that pops into my head
Jem posts violin covers + his original songs on Tiktok, Instagram, and YouTube and his comment section is filled with people trying their best (and failing) to respectfully thirst over him.
Later when Mina does the same, and posts videos with her dad, HER comment section is "can your dad fight"
Oh and he's very kinky
Favorite line from this character
So, SO many to the point he would simply say "hm" and I would cry of happiness.
But the ones that that pop into my head rn are "my apologies" *corset rip* "to antiquity"
"We are all the pieces of what we remember. We hold in ourselves the hopes and fears of those who love us. As long as there is love and memory, there is no true loss."
"She could be anything she pleased. She was everything already."
"You hurt everyone. Everyone whose life you touch." And "Alone? Whose fault is that?" (DESTROY HIM, JEM)
"Unless there were secret Silent Brother orgies I wasn't invited to. I always worried I might not have been popular"
"If you insist. W-H-O"
One way in which I relate to this character
Our love for cats, our inability to let go of things, our insecurity. While there are some similarities, Jem is the opposite of me in many ways, and that is one of the reasons why I can love him so much. Everything I am not.
The thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Jem. My love, my darling. My Jian Ming.....LOOK IN THE DAMN MIRROR!!
Sometimes, I think someone has put a curse on him to never see his beauty because WHAT THE HELL?? He can recognise everyone's beauty but not his own? I think he might need glasses.
Oh, and sometimes he's so fucking horny, like geez
Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
The furthest from problematic a character has EVER been
Send me a character and I'll answer these questions

Do u like darklina? If yes, why? If no, why?
i definitely don't
the reasons are many but i only need one: she doesn't want to be with him and she didn't even liked him that much as she liked the attention. She only went with him when she thought Mal has ignoring him, on the book version she never iniciates a kiss (like, their lack of chemistry as lovers on the books its quite amazing, they only have enemies chemistry at the very best) Alina just lies there like a puppet and makes it happen. He is like her self steem fueller and he was not only perfectly aware of that but makes sure she sees him as such by sabotaging her comunication with Mal, her only friend and having Genya spying on her as well (okay, that the other grisha soldiers her age besides David is ulterly obnoxious certainly helped but still)
Its a little better on the show because at least she shows some interest and book!Alina clearly saw herself as inferior to him while on the show she tries to stand up as an equal which is a nice change and a fix of something that i never liked on the books.
Anyway , neither version work because in both the darkling at the end of the day his attachment to her its awfullly self centered. he is a serious first class narcisist. For him, Alina´s value is always thetered to him, never her, its always what she does for him and thinks Alina having her own mind and morals as a betrayal.
Book darkling supposedly cares about her, but his level of writing is a thanos level of mess. Show darkling is a little better at showing afection towards Alina, but its definitely not enought, he still does horrible things and only sees her as an extention of herself. In short: he doesn't love her at all
And Alina doesn't even need Mal to not love him. In both versions she turns against him when she learns what he did, she needed almost nothing to stop trusting him. Even if you erase Mal´s existence this still would happen, in fact
-book version, Alina had a big fight with Mal and against her heart , choose to be done with him (only reconcilied when Mal´s virtues proven to be bigger than his flaws) so could as well be out of the picture. Mal didn't play a part, she turned against the darkling because she deemed him as untrustworthy despite his better attemps to make himself Alina´s most important person
-Show version, Alina by this point doesn't even know she will find Mal so he doesn't play a part either
To make an emphasis, i honestly think Alina suffers from tons of inconsistent writting on the first two books BUT i will pretend she doesn't: compare how she instantly choose to believe Genya had a good reason for lying to her, this is someone she actually loves (and yes, i have complained about this issue, i still do, but its canon so the point has to stick)
All of this to say: she is so not in love with him, the attraction is undeniably there but there is no love that isn't born of the false affection the darkling tried to build and failed (also, Alina´s natural compasion probably played a part) this girl choose death before being with him.
thats the conclusion to me: they are not in love
And sure i am probably biassed but i will still defend my case: other grishaverse ships that are on my notp territory along with darklina would be nikolai/alina and kaz/jesper.
I really wish i could say nikolai was not in love with alina (alina IS not in love with him, thats canon) or that Jesper was not in love with Kaz so the narrative works on my favor, but i can't, they were , thats canon regardless if i like it or not.So you can say i am at least trying to get bias away and at leas on my mind the statement that they (alina and the darkling) weren't in love makes sense

Barry and Cisco for the niche questions character ask game pleaaaase :)
Barry
A song that reminds me of them: Try by Rick Astley (yes, that Rick Astley—no, that link is not a Rickroll). And also Try Everything by Shakira. Same general message, different energies, both of which are Barry to a T.
What they smell like: A raspberry Tootsie Pop. I'm not saying that's what he ACTUALLY smells like (I'm also not NOT saying that), but that's the first thing that comes to my mind. Also like spruce or juniper leaves (needles?) and that first-step-into-a-shoe-store new leather smell.
An otp: Barrisco and Westallen! I feel like Iris was the perfect person for him to end up with in canon, but Cisco is the person I'm most interested in seeing him paired with in fanfiction (and he's 100% the person he would've ended up with if wasn't with Iris). They're the two people that Barry loves the most and that he can't live without, and he's completely enamored with both of them.
A notp: I simply can NOT get into Olivarry. It's just boring to me. Wtf are they gonna do on a date? Argue about ethics?
Favorite platonic/familial relationships: Also Cisco! They were a brotp before they were an otp, and I still value them as friends without my shipper goggles on. But after him, Joe. I'm a big sucker for a good adoptive/chosen parent-child relationship.
A headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that I disagree with: I'm not sure about headcanons so much, but there are several misinterpretations of his actions and his motives that drive me crazy. Whether they're making him out to be a bad friend or hailing him as The Only Person Doing The Right Thing when he is very clearly wrong, there are multiple takes in the fandom that are just...incorrect. For example, the idea that he was being selfish and manipulative when he got Cisco to open a breach to Earth-2, or that he was just doing what any good husband would do when he pulled Iris and only Iris out of the Mirrorverse. Like, were some of these people even watching the same show?
The position they sleep in: Barry is a big time side sleeper, with the arm on the side that he's lying on curled up in front of him.
A crossover AU I’d love to see them in: I mean I am writing a double crossover about him that's set in Dalton Academy with a plot that's a rewrite of Pretty In Pink.
My favorite outfit they’ve ever worn: There's a specific outfit in the back of my mind, and I can't remember what it is or what scene it's in, but these ones jumped out at me while I was on my wild search for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(SAVITAR TOTALLY COUNTS!)
Cisco
A song that reminds me of them: You'll Always Find Your Way Back Home by Hannah Montana. Because he's changed a bit over the years, and he can be a little lost sometimes, but who he is at his core is always consistent. And because you know he's gonna find a reason to move back to Central City at some point. Also Brave by Josh Groban, which is self explanatory.
What they smell like: As mentioned on your post, cypress and tea tree oil is what I think of his go-to hair/skin product scent being. But there's also some lingering metal and oil smell from his workshop, leather (more like a car with leather interior than the shoe store smell though), and a teensy bit of artificial strawberry from whatever the last candy he had was.
An otp: Kamilla and Barry, my beloveds. 💖 Barry, of course, you already know why, and Kamilla for similar reasons. They both adore Cisco, they're protective and supportive of him, and they like a lot of the same nerdy stuff that he likes. Plus both ships are just adorable together. Barry and Kamilla are both sweet and gentle and affectionate, and that's just what he needs in a partner. They're also the only people that I feel like really deserve him. A relationship with anyone else would feel too unbalanced.
A notp: Everyone else. Just kidding (kind of). He has amazing platonic chemistry with everyone, and romantic chemistry with like maybe 5 people. As far as ships I actively dislike, I am very much squicked out by seeing him shipped with Caitlin and Harry. I love their canon/platonic relationships, but I can't do them in any other context. There are more, but those are the main two that are an absolute no for me.
Favorite platonic/familial relationships: Caitlin! 💖 Their friendship is so sweet, and the sibling energy is off the charts. I love them so much!! Best friend goals for life. Also, Cisco and Ronnie's relationship is super underrated. I wish we could've gotten more of them. :(
A headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that I disagree with: That his parents were abusive. They're definitely overly critical, emotional unavailable, and they favor Dante over him, but I don't see them as intentionally cruel. That's not to say I'm totally against them being written that way, because I've read some good fics where they are, but I prefer to think that their issues come from a lack of understanding of him, and also refusal to accept that their golden child is actually their problem child, and vice versa. I think that they do love Cisco, and they do try somewhat to have a good relationship with him, they just don't try nearly as hard as they should, and they go about it all the wrong way.
The position they sleep in: Oddly enough I think he's a back sleeper. That's if he's in bed by himself, though. If he's with a partner, he loves to be the big spoon.
A crossover AU I’d love to see them in: See the answer for Barry.
My favorite outfit they’ve ever worn:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I can't find a good gif of it, but that red suit he wore for Barry and Iris's vow renewal + the S.T.A.R. Labs stole. Also, the S.T.A.R. Labs T-shirt. It hits different on him.

I'm so late for the ask game!! I wanna ask you what hasn't been asked already yet:
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
I write sentences that are too complicated and sound confusing and often the biggest thing I cringe about when I re-read my edited work is "hey, when you were editing, why did you think THAT was a good sentence?" I should take more time to sit with my fics and edit them over several iterations and put time from the first draft to posting so that I can actually catch things.
🐝 ⇢ tag your biggest supporter(s) and say one nice thing about them
I'm actually intending on making a huge big post thanking everyone when PMID is done so I'm gonna save this one for then. It'll be happening soon (like by the end of the week)! I have so many nice things to say about so many of the people who have been supporting me. ❤️
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
Before I say anything, I want people to understand that just because someone expresses a particular preference or taste in fanfic, and the things they dislike are things that you do, it is NOT a reason to feel insecure or that your writing and fanfic is not amazing and worthy. Fanfic is escapism primarily. It's all subjective.
I've been reading fanfic since I was 11 and I'm 35 years old now which means I've had almost 25 years of experience figuring out what it is that I like and don't like. I've read things that have truly made me feel ill and ruined my day, so I know now to avoid those topics. I have read fanfic that was extraordinary and profound and others that were juvenile and silly - both of which I've gotten immense enjoyment from reading.
Mostly when I read fanfic, I'm looking for a dynamic that I'm interested in reading about my ship. I think, as an OTP shipper, the dynamic and chemistry between the characters I love the most is what I'm most invested in. I'm not really looking for scenarios or tropes or certain kinks persay (and in fact, I'm mostly a very vanilla person so a lot of kinks I stay away from). When I'm reading, if I feel like "yes, this feels like my OTP" (fits the vision I have of them in my head) then usually I am interested in exploring with the writer as long as it isn't something that falls into a squick for me. If I encounter a squick that I know from the past will not sit well with me, or if I am growing annoyed or frustrated by how my OTP is interacting with each other, I click away. Because at the end of the day, I'm reading to get the feels. To explore how my ship could potentially fall in love for the 1000000000th time. If one of my NOTPs shows up, I'm probably going to have a bad time and click away too.
These aren't criticisms of the way that person writes THEIR story. That is just me being honest about what I know I will or won't have a good time with. Every fanfic and interpretation of a ship is valid and someone is going to be like "YES, THIS IS MY EXACT THING". Just because it's not my exact thing, doesn't mean it isn't good. Nor am I under any delusion that how I write my ships in my fics are going to be everyone else's exact thing. In fact, I welcome it not being everyone's thing. As nice of an idea that it is to be universally loved, it is not in any means realistic when it comes to art and fandom.

Dawn Summers?
General opinion/how much I care about them: Dawn isn’t one of my favorite characters (partly because she’s not in either of my favorite seasons), but I do like her and I think the decision to introduce her into the show was a really good one.  I think it allows for some really strong emotional beats that just wouldn’t have been possible otherwise.
A ship I love: I don’t think we see anybody in the show who I’d feel comfortable shipping with Dawn.  (At least, nobody who we see enough to have any idea about their actual personality.  I guess Janice … exists?)  Uh.  Amanda, maybe?
A non-romantic relationship that I love: Dawn and Buffy seems a little bit too obvious an answer here, but … well, it’s obvious for a reason, no?  I think it’s a huge part of what makes seasons 5 and 6 work, and its relative absence in season 7 is a significant factor in why that season doesn’t work for me.  “Summers’ blood: it’s just like mine“ + “She’s me.  The monks made her out of me.” + “I don’t want to protect you from the world.  I want to show it to you.” and so on.  And I like the fact that Buffy actually does get to find Dawn annoying sometimes too, without this detracting from how much she loves her, and that Dawn gets to be upset when she thinks Buffy is ignoring her.
The NOTP: I have lots of other conceptual problems with the comics which have pretty thoroughly put me off reading them, but knowing who Dawn ends up with in them is … definitely up there.
My biggest headcanon about them: I always forget that this is headcanon and not just established in the show, but teenage Dawn absolutely thought Faith was the coolest person she’d ever met.  I think she’d have been so thrilled to meet her at the start of Season 3, and driven Buffy a little crazy later by adopting her mannerisms and trying to copy her fashion choices (in … well, the exact same way Buffy herself does later in the season), or by suggesting that Faith was maybe a better Slayer than Buffy and Buffy could learn a lot from her.  And after Faith starts working for the Mayor, I think she’d have been the biggest advocate of her ability to reform or secretly feeling bad about everything … right up to the point Faith threatened Joyce and stole Buffy’s body, something that Dawn would react to very very badly (see: her reaction to meeting Faith in Season 7).  In fact my headcanon for why the rest of the group don’t really talk about Faith after Season 4 is precisely that they’re worried about upsetting Dawn, who is by this point very vocal in her dislike of and refusal to forgive Faith.
An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: I’m not sure if it’s an interesting enough idea to make work on its own, or you need something else as a hook, but I sometimes think I’d really like to read an (otherwise canon compliant) retelling of the first four seasons (or, well, first three seasons) where Dawn actually existed all along.  When exactly did Dawn find out about Buffy being the Slayer? (Yes, I know there’s a semi-canonical answer to this question but I do not like it.)  Does Joyce take her to LA (and out of school??) on all those occasions she has to be conveniently out of town for the plot to work, or is Buffy supposed to look after her while she’s fighting the Order of Taraka?  Does Dawn hate Ted too?  Does she get to meet Kendra? Is she home when Buffy and Spike stake a vampire in front of Joyce in Becoming? How does the big fight in Dead Man’s Party play out if Dawn is around?  (OK, maybe I just want somebody to write a version of Dead Man’s Party that’s … you know, good.)
Something that makes me think of them: Well, like I said, I don’t think of Dawn that much (compared to some other Buffy characters, anyway), but that means I get to be reminded that Dawn exists sometimes, which is nice?  It’s always fun when I run into a line of dialogue in the early seasons that absolutely couldn’t have been said in the version of the show where Dawn always existed (“It’s a good thing you were an only child”, for example): for some reason those are the times in my rewatch of the show I’m most likely to remember that Dawn actually does (or will) exist.

seiga kaku?
im gonna actively try to keep myself concise and to single points because its been so easy for me in the past to get lost in wicked hermit thoughts and veer off who knows where... Part of it surely has to do with how a long time ago i used to have an rp blog on tumblr where i spent everyday thinking about seiga to some extent!
General opinion/How much I care about them: there was a long period of time where i would say without a doubt she was my single favourite character in touhou. I couldn't properly point to any one reason, or any tidy chain of events that might have led to it, other than learning about her, reading and seeing various very formative doujin works featuring her and the th13 crew, and maybe some old-fashioned projecting led me to latching onto every aspect of her... These days, there's a lot of touhous I obsess and go wild over and to even greater extents than her, but seiga objectively has the longest history of making me go a little nuts, whereas even aya took a little more time to nettle into my brain.
I like Seiga a lot and ive thought about her a lot, is what im getting at!
A ship I love: seiyoshi (seiga/yoshika) is funny in that it has a lot of little 'requirements' to me. Like if intepreted as just purely the evil hermit controlling a tool that she herself murdered to obtain, i think thats boring. But likewise, if its intepreted as just the hermit tragically trying to preserve her departed beloved, well that might be better but still lacking to me.
i couldnt possibly get across my ideal backstory for them right now, but the ultimate gist of it is that Seiga definitely did care for the living Yoshika who then died unexpectedly, before Seiga could decide herself whether she would commit to teaching her the ways of the hermit or simply get bored and move on. Her main motivation in performing the most ludicrously evil magic and create a jiangshi was because she refused to let even the natural order of life and death take anything away from her.
....Thaaaat all aside, i think their interactions in present day are just really funny 😄 Seiga 'spoiling' her dear Yoshika who laughs off being a meat shield because its not like she can die again!
A non-romantic relationship that I love: I think Seiga and Futo have the most oddball dynamic among the taoists and also Futo is probably the only one Seiga wouldn't have intense romanctic tension with. Futo who is a weirdo herself, acknowledges Seiga as their wise teacher of the arts (calling her seiga-donno) and yet also does not think of her as above any of them in their little personal hierarchy because Futo knows Seiga has no interest in being a proper retainer to Miko, so all of Futo's formalities almost come off as either sarcastic or as a really esoteric form of endearment. Meanwhile, Seiga probably thought a long time ago Futo would grow weary of things like loyalty and matters of noble blood or talking like an ancient old person, but none of that happened and Futo remains the same as ever, which has been altogether surprising, charming, and exasperating for Seiga (and everone else but they're all mostly charmed 😊)
The NOTP: i guess you'd have to work especially hard to get me to gel with pairing her up with any of myouren temple's folks. I get the temptation since every other taoist has one or two easily paired up counterpart there, but its not enough to just cross a checklist and leave it at that!
(that said, if you were gonna pair up buddhists and taosists thematically, i get why one might put seiga with shou since they were technically most vital in backstory with miko/byakuren respectively, and also because they both have a servant, one jiang-shi and a mouse. but i always thought seiga made a better parallel witn nue personally)
My biggest headcanon about them: most of this post is already headcanon, but as for another 'big' one...
I believe over the last thousand and whatever years, Seiga made semi-regular (as in maybe once every few years or a century?) visits to the tomb where Miko and gang slept, indulging and refreshing her memories of them, chatting up Tojiko who is now a ghost. And then sometime in 2011 right as her hermit senses told her it was finally time to meet them all again, she went to to tomb to greet them all only to find out literally the entire place was gone 😨
so all within like a week or something, Seiga had to go on a mad investigative quest where she discovered they had all been whisked to Gensokyo at some point, had to learn what the heck Gensoyko even is, how to get herself there, and then arrived just in time to get blasted by the incident resolvers. Really busy time in her life!
An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: ha... one day, my multi-part seiga backstory fic incorporating every stray headcanon i've ever had. and then i quit writing forever maybe n_n
That aside, a funny scenario would be Okina appearing trying to stir drama because Seiga is basically the reason why Miko divorced Okina. And Seiga has no idea who she is or about any of that because Miko never mentioned it 😌
Something that makes me think of them: pretzels.
also its someone elses fault but luo tianyi is just the seiga vocaloid to me 😑

Tokyo Ghoul for the shipping asks
❤ My OTP: I define OTP as "I ship them only to each other" so only HouTata so far. I'm fine with most ships in TG which means I'll eat anything, except content about them having romantic feelings for someone else
My NOTP: I define NOTP as "I wish I was born blind so I won't have to see them on my feed/I question the sanity of the shippers" and so far no ship in TG bothers me that much. Yes I do have ship I don't enjoy but I'm still fine seeing them appear in my life
My OT3: I don't have one I think. I prefer a trio to be friends so I tend to view them as platonic, but I did considering the possibilities of KenHideTouka
A currently canon ship I’m okay with but don’t prefer: KenTou. It's just not my thing.
A ship that would only work in an AU but would be awesome: HouTata lolllllll. Their personalities match so well I swear (I'm delusional). They would be a great couple if Houji didn't murder Tatara's brother
A ship I’d like to see explored but not stick around: Currently I'm interested in FurutaUi. I mean, I'd read writings about them and I absolutely won't understand shit just like how Ui couldn't understand Furuta's behaviors but that's the reason why I want to explore them
A ship that may as well be canon: AyatoHinami. It went from the "bad boy x good girl" trope to "two dumb kids who don't know how to express their love" so it's fun i guess. I just want Hinami to move on from her crush and Ayato to be happy. Also, YomoUta. I don't need further explaination for this one.
The ships I’d give my OTP pair if the other died: THEY BOTH DIED. And they take hot tub together and have hot sex in hell thank you very much.
A crossover ship I’d dig: I don't do crossover
A ship that would work great in a Coffee Shop AU: alright the whole TG is a ducking coffee shop AU so im gonna go with the obvious: AmonKen. Something like Kaneki the waiter is scared of the big, intimidating guy but actually he just wants some (a lot of) sweets for his lunch break. Then Kaneki would memorize his taste and bake fresh donuts when it's close to the lunch break of CCG
A ship that would work great in a sitcom AU: TsukiyamaNaki. Every panels of them in canon is funny enough lol

hopefully this isn't a boring one...how about Jamie Jamie Cousin Jamie?
favorite thing about them
The way he looks and presents himself, he's such an easy target. No wonder everyone always makes fun of him (not that I condone it).
least favorite thing about them
When we look past the Lampardverse, where obviously he has a huge role, I do not really find him very interesting. Yeah, he was hot in his old playing days, and obviously, he's still a very attractive guy, he's just very bland and I understand that people don't seem to enjoy his punditry much and consider him to be an eye candy for the 40+ years old housewives, lol. I think he does carry a certain psychological baggage with him, possibly stemming from his unfulfilled career and promise, and the way his mum and dad raised him (and a couple of other things if we take Lampardverse into account).
favorite line
"That's a corner flag there". I this this sums up his football insight.
And a lot of lines from all the mocking of him, mentioning his Daddy Harry Redknapp ("Why were you all laughing when my Dad was called?") . Plus, his meltdowns on Sky, of course, trying to be Tough. If we consider his autobiography a collection of his lines, then there's the "I've got to have a Happy Ending" one, which we both know, and I think that one shows the lesser-known side of Jamie Jamie cousin Jamie.
brOTP
I don't think Jamie Jamie is capable of a brOTP because of his toxicity. He will throw tantrums, get jealous, or want to control the other person. I think the closest to that would be Jamie and Stevie G, who said in his autobiography that Jamie Jamie Jamie took him under his wing in the early days of his England career (Stevie used to be scared shitless at the NT camps, and Jamie was the one who took care of him, which is lovely!).
OTP
Ha ha ha isn't that obvious. Franko, chubby little Franko, and Jamie Jamie cousin Jamie were meant to be. The real star-crossed lovers! Modern day Romeo and Juliet! Them against the world that is so Big and Scary that they just want to cuddle up in a bed and keep each other warm...
Honestly, I have seen a Souness x Jamie ship on AO3, and I loved it. There's so much potential - especially since I headcanon Souness as a deeply closeted gay man who lived through the homophobic horrors of the Liverpool dressing room in the '70s and '80s and has some regrets about living his life the way he did, and never finding the courage (if you look deep in his eyes, you see a broken man) to come out. He also coached Jamie for a bit, did you know that! I think in the times they both worked at Sky, there could have been some...interesting tension (especially in a non-Lampardverse world).
nOTP
I don't really ship him with anyone from ALOTO. I don't care for those guys enough lol.
random headcanon
He's EXTREMELY childish, to the point of being treated by his wife (and previously ex-wife) as yet another child to deal with and driving them both nuts.
unpopular opinion
He would scream "My Dad could beat up your Dad!" when losing an argument. (I don't think it's that unpopular over here haha). Also, he's on the verge of a panic attack during every ALOTO, and I mean - seriously. Not just for the laughs.
He's also painfully childish and immature when it comes to sex (there might be Reasons for this in the verse though).
song i associate with them
Is this even a question?
Under blue moon, I saw you So soon you'll take me Up in your arms, too late to beg you Or cancel it, though I know it must be The killing time Unwillingly mine
Fate Up against your will Through the thick and thin He will wait until You give yourself to him
One of the many anthems of the Lampardverse, The Killing Moon.
favorite picture of them
Tumblr media
Old Hairy Times. Also, this was Jamie in Liverpool, the Jamie that Franko had numerous wet dreams about.

#svsss#svsss meta#liu qingge#shen qingqiu#liushen#liushen meta#liu qingge meta#yesss give me all this delicious discussion please i'm so happy#i mean i also have thoughts about liujui working out although definitely in a very messy way xD#but liuyuan on the other hand is blissfully uncomplicated Source: @secriden
Hello! Yes, this is actually sort of what I was alluding to. If LQG believes that there is and has always been only one SQQ, then the man who saved his life and is now friendly to him is the same man who allowed his martial siblings, including and especially LQG, to cultivate such an incredibly negative impression of himself that they would have no problem believing he'd attempt to murder his own martial brother in cold blood. And there's two ways that LQG can reconcile that post Lingxi Caves rescue: he can, as you've mentioned, accept that SQQ has changed and is turning over a new leaf and implicitly agree to let bygones be bygones and start over with a clean slate. This would make their relationship moving forward fairly uncomplicated on both sides. On the other hand, if LQG believes that a person's fundamental nature cannot possibly change so drastically, in addition to the option of suspecting SQQ of plotting some long term con, which I agree would be uncharacteristic of LQG to hold onto, I think there's a distinct possibility that it could lead LQG to question everything he once thought he knew about SQQ. If qi deviation induced amnesia can reveal SQQ to be a fundamentally decent person, then is it possible that the demon well incident could've been a misunderstanding? What else could LQG have misunderstood about SQQ over the years? In that sense, I think it could get a little messy on LQG's part as he strives to reevaluate all their past interactions while forging a new relationship with him.
(Of course, if LQG suspects/learns that SJ and SY are in fact two different people, then their relationship is simplified even further, since they are, in fact, starting from a blank slate.)
Either way though, I do agree that Liushen is less messy regardless compared to SQQ's relationships with YQY and LBH, for the reasons you've stated. And even leaving aside the misunderstandings between YQY and SJ, YQY/SY!SQQ in particular is a big NOTP for me simply because YQY's fondness for SQQ is inextricably tied to SJ himself while the positive relationship SQQ forges with LQG (and with LBH) is entirely SY's efforts. LQG only ever displays unwavering support toward SQQ in the present and never attempts to control or manipulate him, which is a big part of why I love Liushen.
And I do agree with the idea of LQG as a person who thinks deeply but may not be the best at expressing himself, which isn't mutually exclusive with LQG being a straightforward person who chooses to accept others' actions towards him at face value. Truly the best shidi.
Thanks for inviting me to discuss! The implications of a transmigrator forming new/altered relationships with people who knew the previous occupant of their body is a big part of what makes SVSSS so fascinating to me, and I do adore Liushen. They truly could have such a lovely relationship filled with quiet, mutual support.
one reason i think liu qingge has such great potential is that he's one of the only characters entirely free from the PIDM narrative. because he dies early in PIDM, sqq isn't coming into every conversation and interaction expecting lqg to adhere to a preconceived script. this allows sqq to actually see lqg as a person and for his words and actions to be taken at face value.
i just think this is great potential for sqq to still be completely oblivious or in denial about lbh and yqy's attentions (because he's so fixated on how bad/complicated PIDM!sqq's relationships are with them) whilst also catching wind of lqg's growing feelings for him because he isn't hampered by any preconceived notions of what they're dynamic "should" be.
so give me sqq noticing the way lqg's mannerism soften around him, how his gruffness changes, how he spends more time just having tea with sqq even after his meridians have been cleansed as they start to have civil conversation about sect business. recognising lqg's care in returning his fans; seeking common ground over their shared love of monster hunting (even if lqg just cares about fighting them, can he maybe smash them in such a way that shixiong can study them afterwards?) and discussions on cultivation techniques and the differences between bai zhan and qing jing styles.
sqq who is so just so grateful to have someone in his corner, someone he feels safe with, who he doesn't have to second guess during every conversation. someone who was never supposed to be around by this point in the narrative, and so is entirely shen qingqui's.

Captain Rex (for the character meme)
A more detailed character meme! Send me a character and I’ll answer…
What I like about them There's something to be said about total absolute loyalty that starts as 'this is what I'm meant to do' and becomes 'you have earned this.' I like to think about how Rex interacts with the Republic (which failed him), with the Jedi (who mostly tried to live up to needs and expectations), with his brothers (who had that loyalty from the start, and as a whole never chose to break it), with Anakin (who earned that loyalty and then broke it), and with Ahsoka (who left, but came back, and built that loyalty back). Rex is an interesting character in large part due to his relations with other characters, and how those relationships change in direct relation to people living up or living down to his expectations of them. He has very reasonable, understandable reactions to people important to him doing something, which is sometimes in short supply in a series like Star Wars, where people have a tendency to be uhhhhh irrational.
What I dislike about them I feel like there isn't enough canon to him that isn't about his relationships to Anakin, Ahsoka, and his brothers. As much as I love those relationships, I want some more on him in a vacuum, as an individual.
Favourite moment BONK
Tumblr media
Least favourite moment I... don't know that I have one.
A situation with this character that I want to see explored more I want more 'Rex handling strangers' moments like Saleucami. I want him to be first and center in interactions with people who aren't trying to kill him and don't have preexisting dynamics the way Jedi, Senators, or fellow soldiers do.
An interesting AU for this character I'm a big fan of 'what if Rex was Force-Sensitive' AUs.
A crossover Pls consider Rex being the groomsman counterpart of 27 dresses. He's been a groomsman for his various brothers and cousins (the other clones) almost thirty times.
OTP (or OT3+ etc…. just… favourite ship) Rexwalker and Rexanidala
Other ships? Plenty! I like Rexsoka and Rexidala, unsurprisingly. I haven't written a whole lot of others, though I've considered a few (like Barriss/Rex, time-travel-aided Komari/Rex), but I've read a lot, like RexObi, Rex/Fives/Echo, Codex, etc. I'm probably not going to write some of these (cloneship is something I can do for AUs or as a reader, but not as a writer), but they're fun to read.
BROTP Lots of my ships double as Brotps for Rex, namely Anakin, Ahsoka, and the Domino Twins.
NOTP ...Nothing is coming to mind other than the usual 'why would you ship anyone with that person' ships, like Palpatine or Jabba.
An assortment of headcanons! - Has idly fantasized about fatherhood since he met Cut and Suu. - Definitely bleaches his hair, and is surprised the first time someone assumes he's a natural blonde through mutation. - Got a taste for Nabooan seafood dishes while he was recuperating on-planet after the Blue Shadow Virus. He also developed a friendship with Padme (and first became aware of/was read in on the Anidala situation) in that time. - Is easily bribed for harmless bullshit by Padme as a result, because he is a Friend and she has The Good Food. Yes he WILL sneak you into Anakin's rooms if you pay him in popcorn shrimp or calamari.

Yata M~I~S~A~K~I~
I was waiting for something like this! Now I get to display my psychotic attachment in full view on this blog with no regrets!
 Sexuality Headcanon:
I don’t feel like classifying him as strictly gay or strictly bi really does him justice. He definetly likes men but his internalized homophobia is kicking him into the dirt on a daily basis.
Gender Headcanon:
Transmasc he/they. He probably takes off his binder every day and gets jumpscared by the fact that he has boobs still attached.
A ship I have with said character:
If you’ve been following me long enough you already know that I’m a Sarumi/Misaru enjoyer.
A BROTP I have with said character:
My knee jerk response is that Kamamoto is his most loyal bro but a more unconventional choice I think has potential is that I could see him getting along with Doumyoji.
A NOTP I have with said character:
Misaki and Mikoto. Sorry. It’s just not my cup of tea whatsoever for a whole host of reasons I don’t feel like getting into.
A random headcanon:
We’re going for a very controversial music taste one. I feel like he enjoys 90s rap and also whatever the hell Pierce the Veil is. I have gotten in debates with my friends over this and I regret absolutely nothing.
General Opinion over said character:
He’s like the most interesting bug pinned to my corkboard squirming in fear and from the moment I remembered he existed, the cogs in my brain did the thing that they do and I decided that I simply had to have him.
He is genuinely one of the best developed characters in K Project and I say this unironically. He often gets boils down to just being a hotheaded skater but if you pay any attention at all to his character you realize why he is the way he is and how his whole world view gets deconstructed. Yata is attention hungry and he latches on to people because as a kid he felt the need to be his mom‘s protector and then felt replaced when she got remarried and had Minoru and Megumi. He wanted to believe that there were heroes in this world and wanted to become one himself and this leads to him having latched onto Fushimi and then Mikoto.
He never stopped caring about Fushimi he just fixated on Mikoto and then after Mikoto died, Yata had to see him as an actual person rather than just blindly worship him which was a character arc I really enjoyed seeing. I also liked how he tried not to make the same mistakes with Anna that he did with Mikoto because with Mikoto he just kind of assumed what Mikoto wanted without actually asking but with Anna, Yata is like her big brother and she relies on him in a lot of ways.
TL;DR I am desperately begging for people to stop seeing Yata as one dimensional and to actually look into his character I cannot keep having these conversations over and over again.
