this with Barrisco, i think i would die. in a good way. i only remember reading Barrisco whump once and this prompt sounds so perfect for them to me. i don't really know how or where or when or who but still. i read it and my brain absolutely short circuited with the Barrisco potential.

Y E S YES YES YES. Words cannot express just how much I love this idea. That prompt has neck whump AND forced to watch (+interrogation which is always fun) so that already makes it catnip to me. Add Barrisco and I’d short circuit. I’d spontaneously gain superspeed just so I could run around the world at mach 4 from sheer happiness.

The question (well, one of them) is who would be in what role… Honestly I think either one of em could work. *kicks bias under the bed*

If you have Cisco as the caretaker (and this is post S1) it presents a really fun parallel to Snart torturing Dante for Barry’s identity, because Cisco had to give him up to protect Dante. But this time it’s BARRY being tortured, and Cisco’s once again going to have to choose between him or something(or someone, depending on what this information is) else. I just think it’s neat. And ofc Barry is an excellent whumpee for this situation because of COURSE he’s not going to want Cisco to choose him (insert every self sacrifice he’s attempted (or straight up done)). Actually, thinking about it, I’m specifically reminded of Coie when Barry pleads with Cisco not to open the breach for E-90 Flash, but he does it anyways, even against Barry’s own wishes, to save him.

…Ok for the record I didn’t ~lie~, I do think either one could work and I was going to elaborate like I did for the first one… But it’s slipped my mind by now. Anyone feel free to weigh in with Whumpee!Cisco and Caretaker!Barry if you have thoughts; I’d love to hear em. Oh and same goes for thoughts on Whumpee!Barry and Caretaker!Cisco ofc.

Overall I think this is an excellent scenario for them, with endless whump and angst potential. And I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts on it (Oh and if anyone writes it; you’ve got a reader)

Thank you so much, I'm glad you like them because I like writing them too. I have written a switched for a short time before (little while ago though), so this time let's go for a switched around from the start. Ish.

Here's the thing. Eobard spent thirteen years planning this. He's been stalking Barry for thirteen years. He got Barry a scholarship to Sun City University to study organic chem and criminology, just like the Barry in his timeline. He as good as shoved Barry right back into that crime lab where Eobard needed him. He even had to save Barry's life a handful of times after he got himself into trouble looking for things. He has all this planned out perfectly, timed out to the second. Except Barry just missed his train.

2. The Speed Force isn't awake when Eobard uses the accelerator to open a path, just like the Negative wasn't awake until he connected to it once upon a time in the future. They're not conscious when they reach out, can't reach past the accelerator's reach and- unbeknown to Eobard- the replacement train Barry is on has been delayed and he's too far. Wally West is in Keystone, Jay Garrick is on another world, Max Mercury is miles from the epicentre, Avery Ho is across an ocean visiting distant family, Danica Williams isn't born yet, none of the people they dream about- that Barry chose for them- are there. But right there, right below them, is Cisco Ramon, right by the door is Cisco Ramon, right about to be blown up, and the other Forces are so deeply asleep even the Speed Force can't touch them, but they can reach out and offer a hand to Cisco.

3. Eobard Thawne wakes up in a hospital bed a few days later unable to move his legs. That's fine, he'll get his powers back now Barry's the Flash again. It's not until the hospital finally release him a few days later that he goes and asks Gideon to show him Barry and she reveals he's busy at work and did not get struck by lightning.

Well, grife. Now what.

4. Cisco wakes up in S.T.A.R. Labs nine months later with Caitlin telling him he got struck by what looked like lightning. Even though he was by the accelerator which is mostly underground. And also now he has abs. And when he very shortly finds out he also has superpowers, there's only one thing he can do about that.

5. Cisco meets Iris before he meets Barry. There's a reporter writing about him- like canon, Eddie and Joe were at the farm looking for Clyde Mardon (despite Joe's instance Barry's wrong about what he's found), but this time Joe was the unconscious one and Eddie was the one who is sure he saw a man made of lightning. Obviously he's going to go home and tell his girlfriend about that, and Iris is immediately in investigative mode. And, well. Cisco gets curious.

6. Joe is the one with the anti Flash ideas this time, not Eddie. He's still not ready to tell Barry he might be right about Henry, but he does see something too much like the nightmares Barry had for years, sees something he knows Barry is going to go chasing and get himself into trouble about. It's bad enough Iris already has

7. Iris is the one who introduces Barry to The Flash- he came to find her again to apologise for not being able to get to CCPD (he temporarily lost his powers), Iris answers his question about why she was looking for him, and Cisco instantly offers to help. And Iris, she can't investigate this without telling Barry that's what she's doing.

8. The Speed Force can't wake up, not without Barry. It's not fully dormant any more- Eobard can access tiny bursts of the negative- but Farooq was only able to (unintentionally) drain all of Cisco's powers because the Speed Force was barely clinging onto consciousness. Cisco deliberately seeking them out to reactive his powers gave them a little tiny bit more, but they're still sleepwalking through this, which is going to delay Eobard's plans even more than Barry Allen going and ruining everything at the last minute getting himself kidnapped by the sodding Green Arrow's friends who didn't even exist in Eobard's timeline- where's the Black Canary and Queen's gaggle of kids, those he could deal with- so Eobard needs another plan, and Mercury Labs have a tachyon device.

9. The Flash meets Barry Allen and a literal spark flies between them. Something about him is just so... Cisco doesn't know the words, but there is something about Barry Allen that makes Cisco want to reach out and never let go.

10. The Flash- apparently- breaks into Mercury Labs. But Iris and Barry think it was someone like Cisco who killed Barry's mother, and here's someone. Whether it's the same man or not, giving this man to CCPD is going to at least get Barry one step closer to getting proof, so Cisco might offer S.T.A.R. Labs' service to the police this time. Only the police do want to arrest the Flash still, so maybe he should do that as Cisco Ramon instead.

11. Barry marches into S.T.A.R. Labs despite Joe's best efforts at keeping him out of this. He is the best suited to actually understanding anything Cisco and Doctor Wells are doing, insists Captain Singh who does not want to be caught in the middle of this argument, and so there's Barry. Introducing himself and holding out his hand to a man he doesn't know he's already met. And Cisco takes it, gets momentarily worried about the look on Barry's face, and just goes right into his force field idea.

12. The hologram will put him and the Reverse Flash in the same room at the same time, even without being near the suspect list yet, Eobard wants that. But Barry Allen is right there and powerless to stop him and everything is going wrong and it's all Barry's fault, he's not going to pass up the opportunity to have Barry being the one dragged into the Reverse Flash's clutches.

13. The Flash is the one who comes to visit Barry in the hospital, sneaking in after hours, appearing in a flash of blue lightning. He makes his apologies, for not being there, for not being fast enough, and Barry just smiles and calls Cisco by his name. The same shock that happened when he first met the Flash happened again when he shook Cisco's hand earlier he explains, and there's something about Cisco that he can't quite put his finger on, but it's the same feeling he had about the Flash too.

(Neither of them know it's the Speed Force calling out to Barry they can feel, not yet)

(They're not going to find that out until the day Cisco disappears into them, and Barry rushes in after him)

14. They tell Iris Cisco's name too. It's going to be easier, if Cisco's going to help them follow up on this Reverse Flash, the one Barry is certain he saw that night. Doctor Wells seems unhappy about including them- Barry doesn't particularly like Doctor Wells either- and maybe he has a point that giving someone who works for the police a key to a building that technically has an illegal prison in it- wow Caitlin's right, Cisco needs a Pipeline alternative ASAP- but Caitlin is instantly friends with Iris and keeps giving Cisco knowing looks when Barry walks in and, well, Barry looks at Cisco like he's the answer to every wish he's made for the past fifteen years, how could he ever refuse to help him?

15. Barry really likes Caitlin. Cisco is like no one he's ever met. Barry loves the life Cisco has invited him into, and the trust Cisco immediately has in him to be the voice in his ear, the belief in him, it's so important to Barry. But something about Doctor Wells rubs him wrong and so when Iris comes to him to tell him what Mason, her mentor at her only had for a few months job, said about him, Barry is just curious enough to ask Caitlin if she can distract Wells while he has a quick look at the force field. Cisco built it, it doesn't make sense it would fail like that.

16. Cisco is running to stop a tidal wave. He's not there when Barry turns and sees the supposedly paralysed Harrison Wells standing in a doorway. He wouldn't be able to get back when Eobard Thawne starts his confession. Even if Barry could call him, he wouldn't be able to do anything when he finds himself on the floor, Eobard Thawne standing over him with a vibrating hand. And the Speed Force, they can't reach Barry, not now, not alone, not with Cisco running and drawing more from them than they have to give.

But the Speed Force always wakes up first, and never wakes up alone. The other Forces can reach too, can reach for Barry, and touch him and connect, and the Speed Force flairs to life.

And Cisco finds himself running back to yesterday.

17. Barry doesn't go to the trap the second time around. There's a thing with the Snarts and Rory and Dante's birthday and Mason Bridge is missing and Barry might be arguing with Joe about his dad again and the Flash and they have a different kind of mess instead. It's not all bad- Barry gets a kiss from Cisco at the end of it all, and he ends up crashing at Cisco's, falling asleep snuggled next to him. He dreams, he dreams about the trap and Harrison Wells standing over him and threatening him and Barry wakes, puts it down to a new variation on a nightmare he's had before, and lets Cisco's breathing send him back to sleep.

18. The Speed Force has always been plural. Strength, Sage, Still, Speed, the four forces are themselves and separate and one and something incomprehensible. Speed always wakes up first, always wakes up when Barry Allen takes their hand and shows them how to run, except someone else did that this time. Cisco might not have been able to fully wake them, but he gave them enough to pull the other three from deep inside and when they reached for Barry, it was all four Forces that grabbed him, each equally. Someone else did that once, in another timeline.

The Speed Force chose their speedsters by picking the people Barry wanted, though he never quite realised that. The four Forces together can give him the opposite, can give him the ability to disconnect a speedster. The four Forces together can give him the power to see the danger Eobard Thawne puts him in, and they can give him the power to protect himself in a way the three younger ones claim he never could as only a speedster.

They still aren't awake. Not completely. But they are waking up. And if the Speed Force took their hero, they're going to have to find someone else to be Vibe this time around.

i have a question related to your quiz, about the actor that got you to watch Glee. it means you knew Chris Colfer from something else, right? i'm super curious to know what you knew him from? or is it that you started Glee and kept going for him?

Ah, I can see how the wording of that quiz would be confusing. Glee was the first thing I ever saw him in (and then Struck by Lightning afterward). So here's how it happened: I'd never had any intention of watching Glee ever, because I thought it looked stupid, and I never liked any of the Glee covers that I heard out in the wild, because there was never any kind of connection between the singer(s) and the song. Then I watched a bunch of MsMojo top 10 lists on YouTube, and they kept mentioning Glee in them, and by extension, Kurt. So I got curious about Kurt and looked up a few clips he was in, not with any intention of actually starting the show, it was just a rabbit hole I was going down. So I ended up really liking him from the clips, because he did both drama and comedy really well, and there was one scene in particular where he'd said something scathing to Rachel, which I loved, because I know a girl who was obsessed with Glee in its heyday and basically wanted to be Rachel, so I already knew I didn't like Rachel just from the way this girl had emulated her. So I was starting to feel tempted to actually give the show a try, but I was still on the fence about it, so I decided to look up a clip of Kurt singing, and I decided that if I hated the way he sang, I could just move on and forget about it. So the clip I ended up watching was I Want to Hold Your Hand, and boy howdy, it was the first time I'd ever heard anyone from the Glee cast sing with feeling, so I decided to give the show a chance. I hated it from the very first episode, and the whole experience was a bit like chewing glass, but in spite of this, I couldn't help caring about Kurt, so I saw it through all the way to the end. This was a terrible idea. But the good news is, I met some cool people afterward who were equally as bitter as I was about how Kurt had ended up, and they got me into Kurtbastian and then The Flash, and the rest is history.

Of course! Personally, I really love Green choices with a red final choice. I love the Lost in a Moment version, and Eros' part in that version, I just 🥺😭

But I really like the opening parts of the blue versions too, not the blue chorus though. 😅

Eros' part in a red/blue first choice, green chorus and red fourth choice also hits hard. I heard that version in this compilation.

Admittedly I have a hard time wrapping my mind around all the potential variations of the songs @_@

honestly, i can easily imagine Zoom stopping several times on the way to beat Barry up, probably even taunt him and remind him the last time something similar happened and how Barry still hasn't gotten closer to being able to beat him and so on. i mean, Barry does heal fast so it wouldn't be weird that he woke up in the cage with not so many bruises or anything, doesn't mean he didn't have them at some point i guess?

I think lightning for you? I'm not entirely sure how to explain my thoughts here but I guess lightning is this brilliant flash that's so much brighter than everything around it it just immediately draws your eye (and maybe there's some influence here in thunderstorms are usually accompanied by heavy rain which is already used in fiction in connection with big feelings, and I am usually simultaneously fascinated and terrified by lightning so I am usually having a huge amount of feelings during storms), it feels like the light that is the most passionate light up there, it's this big and beautiful thing that just for a flash you can see colour again on an otherwise dark and dismal night, and you strike me as someone very passionate about the things they love

Also as soon as I hear thunder I am against the window to see if there's lightning and as soon as I see you have reblogged a post I am scrolling right to the tags to see your thoughts on it

Choosing more violence today than usual because the ask list calls for it. You've all been warned. 😅

1. The character everyone gets wrong.

Patty Spivot. I'm a Westallen fan till my dying day, but there are some catty Westallen fans who cannot let that thing with Mark Mardon go, and insist that she is the embodiment of everything wrong with real-life law enforcement, solely for wanting to do the thing that 99% of the fandom is frustrated with Barry for not doing, which is killing the person who killed one of her parents. She didn't even go through with killing him, she did things by the book in the end. Plus it was one guy and it was personal, it's not like she was out here power tripping just for the heck of it. Also, I'm not 100% certain how the Spallen shippers characterize her, because I don't really hang out in the Spallen side of the fandom, but I feel like people tend to forget that she's a nerd and make her out to be some cool it-girl instead. Patty is not a cool girl. She is a very very pretty nerd girl. I mean that in the best kind of way.

Caitlin is also horribly mischaracterized (in different ways) by both the Snowbarry fandom and the diehard Westallen fans. The only people who are right about Caitlin are the people who like both her and Iris. Everyone else is too biased to think clearly.

And of course Iris is the most mischaracterized, but everyone already knows how and why people get her wrong. And people getting her wrong is the reason why they get the other two wrong, and everyone is doing it on purpose, and it's a mess, and it's super annoying, and if everyone could just be NORMAL about these girls, things would be swell! But as it is, people are racist and petty and vindictive, so things are ridiculous.

7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because of how the fandom acts about them?

So I hate to say it, because I do actually like this character very much when she's onscreen in front of me, but my word, the fandom made me so sick of Cynthia. (She would also be a good answer for that first question, because she's so mischaracterized as someone way more straight-laced than she actually is, but in her case it seems like a genuine case of Wow People Really Don't Pay Attention, Do They?) Is it weird that I hate fanon Cynthia because fanon Cynthia is a better girlfriend and a better person in general than canon Cynthia is? (yet still working for the collectors??) Because that's where I'm at. Tbh I blame the hiatus between seasons 3 and 4, 'cause I feel like headcanons and fanfiction about Cisco dealing with losing both his best friends by leaning on his girlfriend gave people expectations for what their relationship was gonna be like, and then they just...didn't register when it didn't turn out like that. Like, at all. Now, I enjoyed her time on the show for what it was, I still enjoy rewatching episodes that she's in, and would hardly be bothered to mention any of the issues I have with her if people would just see her for how she is. But for whatever reason, she's put on this pedestal and viewed as the person Cisco should have ended up with, even though every storyline they have together is loaded with examples for why their relationship would never work out in the long run. Cynthia was not the love of Cisco's life, she was something he needed to get out of his system. He wouldn't let himself date Golden Glider 'cause she was a criminal, but Cynthia being technically "team good" because she's in law enforcement gave him the inch he needed to pursue a relationship with the kind of bad girl he thought he wanted to date. But she turned out to be his Morgan Harris (which will mean nothing to anyone who hasn't watched the '80s Anne of Green Gables miniseries, but whatever), because he finally got what he wanted, only to realize that what he really wants is something else. So it's frustrating to me when people take a girl who clearly didn't want the same kind of relationship that Cisco wanted, and whose personal values clearly didn't align with his, and warp her to be some Iris-level, supportive-girlboss-wife material, who's totally never made an unethical decision in her life and works for a good upstanding organization committed to Justice™️—and insist that the writers were wrong to break her and Cisco up, because everything was ~Fine~ (insert dog in house on fire meme), when clearly breaking them up was what was best for Cisco. Because he was floundering trying to make things work with her, and they just didn't. They could never be fully happy together because either one or both of them would have to change their entire personality to make it work—and neither of them was willing to ask the other to do that. They're star-crossed. They have always been star-crossed. It just took them a while to accept it. And it's taking the fandom for-freaking-ever.

12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them.

Obviously I stay raving about why everyone should love Kamilla. I'm sure you all know the spiel by now.

She's sweet, she's smart, she has style, she can keep her head in a crisis, she's gentle but knows how to tell someone off when she needs to, she has no superpowers or combat training of any kind, and yet willingly joins in several dangerous missions because she cares a lot about helping people, and protecting the people she loves. Despite being seriously underutilized, she actually has much more development than people realize, but folks insist on saying she "doesn't have enough personality to be interesting/to take from canon and build off of for fanfiction" JUST BECAUSE SHE'S NICE AND SOFT-SPOKEN AND GIRLY, AND PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHAT TF TO DO WITH A NICE GIRL CHARACTER WHO DOESN'T ALSO PUNCH STUFF. Not that she's not badass when she needs to be, but that is entirely beside the point! Now I understand that some people tapped out of the show early and didn't get to know her. But the way people who lasted 7 whole seasons just write her off as flat and boring drives me up the WALL. She's a photographer! She's a bartender! She reads comic books! She likes Star Wars and Fantastic Four! She cooks! She organized an art show! She subbed in for the rest of Team Flash when they were unavailable! She knows how to operate a satellite! Because she's watched Cisco and Caitlin do it, so clearly she's got mad observational and fast learner skills! She's maybe, possibly vegan, but also possibly not? She has at least one sister, and she made friends with all of Team Flash very fast, and it's no wonder, because she's shown to be thoughtful and a good listener several times! There are SO MANY little details about her slipped into canon that you can easily take and run with and develop further in fun ways, and that's part of why she's one of my favorite characters to write for! Also, HELLO, the supportive, attentive girlfriend everyone projects Cynthia to be? Kamilla actually IS! Literally WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE????
