This little girl has been through so much and she’s so anxious about her very existence that I don’t think it’s far off to believe that keeping a secret like, I don’t know, being The Wundersmith’s apprentice would eat her up from the inside.

Like, we all remember how she was in book 2. She was constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop for something she couldn’t control being, something she didn’t choose, because she fully believed she could be evil without knowing, without meaning to, just because she had a tie to Squall. Imagine feeling like that for months and then choosing to follow, be in the presence of, and learn from the one person everyone agrees is bad. The reason your kind are seen as evil incarnate. A literal murderer.

Morrigan had so many symptoms/manifestations of anxiety in the first two books (I haven’t reread hollowpox don’t come for me) that are glaringly obvious and one of them is the feeling of constant guilt. She’s felt like walking on eggshells her whole life, it’s no surprise she might choose to retreat into herself as a defense mechanism.

I find it so funny, in light of TikTok’s imminent American demise, that even now they aren’t considering moving to tumblr. The last two social media refugee crises (Twitter -> X and whatever happened with Reddit) prompted a wave of wide-eyed new baffled tumblr users to flood this app and yet last I heard all of the tiktokers are flooding en-masse a Chinese social media app. That is entirely in Mandarin.
