My Arrangement - Married Life from Up (easy)
https://musescore.com/user/31996419/scores/17692129
So, because I'm a chicken, I'm not posting anything original this week. I have some stuff to sort out with what I was supposed to be posting and software, so maybe I'll do it next week.
So for now, I hope you'll like a very easy little arrangement I made of Married Life from the Pixar movie Up for solo piano. I made it originally for a student of mine who wanted to learn it, but thought might as well stick it online if anyone else wants a super easy version.
Disclaimer - I do not own this piece or the movie or claim to, it's by Michael Giacchino for Pixar's Up. All credit goes to the rightful owners (disney please don't come after me)
Hope it can be useful to someone out there or you just like it :)

The Lana Del Rey / Mitski / Fiona Apple girlies would go fucking insane for Portishead. Not quite visceral - but a quiet intensity to it instead, something subtle and sultry bereft near entirely of strings; an eerie sort of flair to it that I enjoy sinking into. you might, too, if you’ll let yourself!
at least, relief
a mother’s son has left me sheer
the shores i seek
are crimson tastes divine
can’t make myself heard
no matter how hard i scream
oh, sensation
sin, slave of sensation
Biscuit
covered by the blind belief
that fantasies of sinful screens
bear the facts, assume the dye
end the vows, no need to lie, enjoy
take a ride, take a shot now
‘cause nobody loves me; it’s true
not like you do
Sour times
you don’t get somethin’ for nothing
mm, gotta try a little harder
it could be sweet
like a long forgotten dream
It Could Be Sweet

Hello! I made this little zine called Music Theory: A Small Guide of Reminders.
These are shorthand notes, charts, and drawings that I used when I was studying music theory that I now teach my students, approached from the pianist’s perspective. From beginner to advanced, all compact to fit in a pocket or pencil case.
It is one page of notes in the front, with optional second side that includes manuscript paper and an extra keyboard.
This video includes a flip through, instructions on how to fold the guide, and explanations for all the notes: https://youtu.be/mUSc3k4z9qM
Links to download are in the description of the video :)
- For more videos: YouTube (classicalsqueak) / Video Index
For sheet music: Ko-fi (classicalsqueak) or SMP* (published by Ylan Chu)

a toast to the novices
cheers to being new and bad at something
cheers to never perfecting
cheers to exploring a million interests
cheers to a long and joyful rookie stage
because if i keep expecting myself to be perfect, i will end up being nothing at all

It's so so funny how piano progression is like. Okay, first you have to learn to play every note in the chord/between hands evenly, last thing we want is not being able to hear some notes! And all the notes go down together, remember that!!
And then, after years, it's suddenly all about "actually, I want to hear *this* specific note and melody within the chords you play"

"Our music isn't just about entertainment; it's about promoting well-being and helping people connect with their inner calm."
The channel's description emphasizes the scientifically proven benefits of relaxation, citing studies that link it to lower blood pressure, reduced stress, and even boosted immunity. But the creators believe that relaxation offers more than just physical perks.
"Relaxation is a gateway to creativity, intuition, and a deeper sense of inner peace," says [Channel Creator's Name]. "We hope that our music can inspire people to slow down, take a deep breath, and rediscover the joy of simply being."

One side effect of studying piano pedagogy is that whenever I watch a show or movie or video where someone is sitting at the piano and they're supposed to be a relatively experienced musician, I am obligated to be insufferable about their hand and body position. Girl, how are you going to get the range of motion to play octave chords fortissimo when your elbows are glued to the side of your ribs. It's your knees that are supposed to be just under the edge of the keyboard, not your bench. Those fingers are just too flat for the scale passages that the soundtrack says you're playing. Is that a slouch-
