You and Jack prepare for the first* date

The two of you rush back to the bar as fast as you can. Kacey and Robby are standing outside and when they see you, they turn to walk towards you. “Seriously, I thought you were kidnapped!” Kacey yells at you wrapping you into a hug. “I'm fine, seriously.” She wraps her arm around yours, “well that's our cue to go boys. Have a good night.” Jack stutters, before calling after you, “yes Jack?” You call at him softly, “I need- uh can, um” he stutters as he tries to get his words out, “phone.” “What?”, he hesitates, “can i get your number?” He says, staring at you hopefully. You giggle at him, rubbing your hand up his arm. “Of course, but only if you promise to take me on a second date tonight.” He looks at you confused, “second date?”, he sets his hand on your back as you lean back to look at him. “Yes Jack, pancakes were our first, you chose, so I get to choose tonight.” He laughs at you, before Kayce pulls you away. When you get home, you're happy to see several texts from Jack waiting. 'Did you make it home?’, ‘Tell me when you do.’, ‘I'll pick you up at 7.’. You can't help but smile as you get ready for bed. Kacey knocks on your door as you are about to fall asleep, “his friend says he’s a great guy. And that if he hurt you, he’ll help you hide the prosthetic.” She sits on the edge of your bed, as you plug your phone in. “good. Now, I desperately need to go to bed. Love you babes.”, she tosses a love you too as she closes your door. You smile as another text pops in, ‘ok, so I do now realize I need your address to pick you up. You text him your address, and that you’ll let him know where you're going later. 

Jack smiles at his phone as your good night texts come through. He settles in for the night, the mattress creaking beneath him. Looking at the nightstand, the picture of his wife overturned. Sighing, he sets his phone down, sleep grabbing him quickly. He’s awoken hours later to knocking on his door, hobbling to the door, refusing to put his leg on, he opens the door to see Dana standing there. “Hi cowboy, I hear you’ve got a date tonight.” She says as she pushes past him into the house. He goes after her, as she starts cleaning his kitchen. “Dana, stop. Why are you here? Who even told you abo-,” hanging his head, “Robby. Dammit Robby.” She chuckles as she gestures for him to sit, as he sits she starts the coffee maker. “Yeah, he told me. He had to work, but it's my day off. So I thought I'd come help you.” He chuckles at her, before moving to grab his prosthetic, “stay, I've got it.”  She grabs it for him, helping him get it on. Sighing, he realizes she's not leaving. “Fine, you can help. I don't know where she's taking me, but it's probably o- ""where she's taking you? Are you making her plan the date?” “technically it's our ‘second’ date. We met last night and I took her to that diner. I took you too. She said that was our first date.” Dana laughs at him, “hmm, guess I better choose options then, huh?” She turns walking into his bedroom. He goes after her, already having shirts tossed on the bed by the time he gets there. Dana makes him try on the outfits, and several shirts and pants later, she has an outfit for every occasion on his bed. “So, what do ya think?” He hums at her, wrapping her into a hug. “Thanks Dana, I appreciate it.” She rubs his back, before pulling away to leave. He opens the door for her, and as she steps out she pauses, “Noreen would want you to be happy Jack. If she's anything like Robby said, she’ll be good for you.” Smiling at him again she leaves, Jack standing staring as he watches her drive away. He feels his phone buzz, pulling it out to see you’ve texted where you're going tonight. He smiles, knowing it’ll only be a few hours before he gets to see you again.

“NO, UGLY, GROSS, WHY DO I STILL OWN THIS!”, your yells make Kacey pop her head into your bedroom, only to be smacked by the dress you threw. “Jesus girl, it's a date. Calm down already.” You whip around glaring at her, “I don't have anything to wear. So, unless you can magically stop time so I can go shopping, telling me to calm down doesn't HELP!!!” Putting herself between you and your closet, she makes you sit on your bed. “Where are you going?”, “Brainerd's.” “ooo, fancy.” She spends 30 seconds in your closet before coming out with a red dress, black sweater, and your favorite heels. “Here, wear this and your gold necklace and you can borrow my earrings.” You stare at her in shock, “20 minutes ago that was a dress, 30 seconds with you and it's an outfit.” She sits down next to you, pulling you into a hug. You lean into her shoulder, as she plays with the ends of your hair. “Why are you so nervous, you were never this nervous with Blake.”, “yeah well, I also met Blake in college when we were 18, no reason to be nervous.” She hums, before standing and pulling you up by your hands. “Ok, shower and we can do a mini spa day before you need to get ready.” You nod at her, before walking into the bathroom and showering. After your shower, you enter the living room to see Kacey has set up the nail stuff. Settling in across from her she immediately takes your hands to start. “I don't get a choice in color?”, “nope. So, sit back and watch VPR. I'll do your hair when I'm done.” you laugh at her but turn your head to the TV. After being pampered by her, makeup included, you change and wait for Jack to show up. You hear his truck roll up, peeping out to see him taking a moment before he gets out. She rushes to the door, waiting before opening it. “Hi Jack. Come on in, she’s almost ready.” He hums at her, stepping in before faltering at the sight of you. “H-Hi. You look fantastic. Oh, um, these are for you.” He says stepping closer and holding out flowers, you take them, your grin reaching your ears. “There's two bouquets Jack. got another date after me?” you tease at him. He goes bright red, shaking his head rapidly. “No, God no. No, no other date.” he turns to Kacey, “these are for you. As a thank you for letting me whisk her away.” He nervously stands waiting for her response. “Oh, Thank you Jack! That's so sweet of you.” She steps up, giving him a side hug as a thank you. She takes your flowers from you, promising to put them in a vase. “Go already!”. Jack holds his hand out for yours, you slide it in almost instantly. “Are you ready?” “Yes, let’s go!”. Jack holds the car door open for you, making sure you're settled before shutting the door, and hopping in the driver's seat. He pulls out of the driveway and heads towards the restaurant.
