New commission: YOJIMBO!

New commission: Summon Yojimbo!! This was an unusual style of commission for me to take on, but I really wanted to make it! I have been trying to focus on taking on commissions that I WANT to make. I absolutely love the colors and the design of this. The accessories and armor parts are all foam, very lightweight, and the sword is balsawood so it’s con-safe. It was really hard to get proper photos of this because none of my mannequins are the appropriate size, and the client is very tall. I took pics of it pinned onto a mannequin as well as being worn by someone, but it will fit the customers measurements much better!

Ezio Auditore Pauldron Part 1

Starting with reference photos, I created a paper pattern and traced and cut it out of 5mm EVA foam for the base structure and foam clay for the details, similar to the bracers.

For the base structure it took a few sheets of 5mm foam and I also cut a foam disc to create the raised circular detail. Having learned from the bracers, I first shaped the pauldron before adding the foam clay details. I rolled many snakes of foam clay and using water attached it to the base structure. After heat sealing the foam, I used Kwik Seal to smooth over any gaps, using water to make it smooth. Then I used 3 layers of Flexbond for sealant.

Kensadi Cosplay Cosplay: Edgar Markov Costume Description: Character is from Magic the Gathering and is from the gothic plane of Innistrad which is rife with terrors, only some of which happen to be vampires. This cosplay took me roughly 8 months. It's difficult to really figure out how many hours because I worked on it off and on. 95% of the armor is EVA foam of varying thicknesses. The gauntlets are made of worbla's black art and is backed by worbla's fine art. The sword has a wooden ruler and foamboard as the base and is wrapped in worbla's black art. The chest piece is a heavily modified pattern by Cyreah Cosplay and the gauntlet pattern is by Guyton Armor. The rest I patterned myself. The skirt is made of a red velveteen. The cape is fully lined and made of an jacquard upholstery fabric remnant.

I'm from the US and I have been cosplaying for seven years now. Most of my cosplays are from Magic the Gathering. The artwork inspires me like no other franchise.
