Lowkey been really fucking obsessed with the Fazbear Toddler Fun analog horror series for days now and I hate it cause it is utterly phenomenal in ways that just look goofy af to anyone who isn't incredibly in tune both with authentic recreation of niche video game visual tropes and the narrative significance of the Five Night's at Fredsy's chronology.

The final sequence of the last episode has unparalleled levels of attention to detail in replicating every ounce of old edutainment game tomfoolery, and to top it off it does not even stumble for a second in using that to tear the game's in-universe existence and the protagonist apart.

Cause its not just the period accuracy of IRL video games but the timeline of in-universe Freddy's locations and rebrands. Like it's actually a choice that the characters are based around the FNAF2 location cast, just with Foxy as well likely cause he was so iconic and The Mangle (adorably adapted as "Funtime", Foxy's little sister) wouldn't cut it. You can actually assume this is a late 90s game in context of being after the brands peak in the 80s, or honestly if you're weird like me you always got a very 90s vibe from the Toy Animatronics and assume this game was in tandem with THAT rebrand. OK OK BUT EIRHER WAY. The game as a vapid attempt at a rebrand borrows its cues from the most dramatic and vapid canon rebrand, and it makes every call back to the original tragedy sting so much more.

FNAF2's location has always been one of the furthest away from the Bite of '83 and original MCI, with the FNAF1 location existing more directly in its shadow cause it's where the story was first told even if it's ironically furthest from it. The sort of grunge and shoddiness that defines the atmosphere of the other tragedies is not present there, and its abysmally short run (canonically was only open for weeks as every other returant was assumedly for years) gives it a certain innocence and purity to it. The Toy Animatronics did not have the time to accumulate that physical and metaphorical rot which pervades the brand through the felt animatronics. They were literally retired and revived to carry the legacy of that pain, but the Toys were a genuine - and short-lived - attempt to almost fully separate.

But this all to fucking say - when the ghost of the crying child uses the games stupid little movie maker to tell the story of his death, and when he snaps the misshapen model of Fredbear atop the shiny new Toy Freddy on that stage... it's fr. It's so fr. It's so "how dare you think you can escape..." how dare you think you can run from that past while tracking prints - while not truly letting go.

It gets SO WELL at that angle of corporate whitewashing and greed that is the ONE THEME in FNAF, to the point I can (almost) forgive it for its demonization if Michael. Because he ties into it to. Oh you think it's just cute and a little messed up that they tried to overwrite the tragedy of my death? You think it's just a spooky little game to come back here, to this complete mockery and erasure of my pain? The way that you said you were sorry but I knew you never were? Like fucking christ man.

The magic of obtuse storytelling methods is how they can thread together odd symbolism and ideas into a story in a way something straightforward cannot. Stories of haunting are fascinating because it allows for the expression of harsh and terrible emotions through manipulation of symbols, and I love when internet horror takes that to the umpteenth level in the found footage/found game subgenre by twisting those symbols of the truly light and unassuming in media even when it's goofy af.

When you're dealing with death of children at a bootleg Chuck E Cheese you're most realistically going to get a Chuck E Cheese style haunting, but the point is to embrace that. Find the perversity of something that is supposed to be so light and childish being forced to bare a heavy, meaningful pain. For a model of a crusty dancing bear in a CG point and click game to be the most chilling graphic imaginable.

Being so full of himself, Toy Bonnie doesn't realize the others are throwing backhanded compliments at him. Toy Chica is the most annoyed by it, but straight him insulting the rabbit only result in a "You're just jealous" and "Cranky, because the kids don't like you as much, huh?" which pisses her off even more. She can't win.

Out of all the Withered and Toy pairings the Chicas get along the most. Toy Chica stole a camera from a visitor and does selfies with Withered Chica, helps her when she gets stuck in the vents and even tried to make her a new pair of arms.. that don't work well at all. Withered Chica keeps them around anyway because hey, the thought counts, right?

Unsurprisingly the Bonnies are almost always on each others throat. Withered Bonnie, like Toy Chica, is more than just annoyed at Toy Bonnie's overconfident and egoistical self, while the other one makes fun of his face (or lack thereof). It got so bad once that the faceless animatronic beat him up with his guitar. Didn't stop Toy Bonnie from continuing to be an ass on purpose tho.

Toy Freddy's love for video games was born from someone accidentally leaving one of the arcades on after hours. He wanted to see what the big hype was and why humans liked to use those machines so much. Things kind of went downhill from there and despite being bad at playing, one can find him around the arcades almost every night. His first and favorite is Pac-Man.

While Freddy is the kindest of the Toy bunch, he gets insanely vicious when he loses a game. It's for the best to stay as far away from him as possible when he throws a fit. Even Toy Bonnie doesn't dare to go near him and he's the reason most arcades had to be replaced more than once.

Even when he got build around the same time as the others, Balloon Boy is considered the youngest of the animatronics, using his cute design to his full advantage. He pretty much got everyone wrapped around his finger and knows how to make them do what he wants. JJ and him like to play pranks, hide around the pizzeria and generally be little nuisances.

Due to getting taken apart and put together so many times, Mangle doesn't like being touched and has to do their best to tolerate even children. They used to be a performer/storyteller animatronic much like Funtime Foxy and hate what they got reduced to. Because of their broken state, they get along with the withered animatronics well and have a great relationship with Withered Foxy, just like the Chicas.

Headcanon: Molten Freddy isn't always Molten "Freddy". Rather, Funtime Freddy, Funtime Foxy, and Ballora take shifts every week.

That makes sense since it is an amalgamation of them, I always kinda wanted to see a "Molten Freddy" version of Funtime Foxy and Ballora if that makes sense.

There's something similar in The Fourth Closet, where Funtime Foxy gets destroyed and ends up with a design that looks like a less broken version of Nightmare Mangle (or just Mangle depending on the artist):

These are all of the FNAF2 phone calls from Phone Guy.

The first night, there is mention of another security guard who worked at that location during the nightshift. He was moved to the dayshift after complaining about the animatronics coming into his office. There is also mention of the Toy animatronics being tied to a criminal database in order to recognize predators.

The third night, there are mentions of "tragic rumors" surrounding the restaurant. The dayshift guard from before reports nothing unusual happening during the day, and apparently he is on watch from opening until closing...

Night four mentions an investigation going on at the restaurant. Fazbear Entertainment denies any wrong-doing. Phone Guy notes that the animatronics' facial recognition software has been tampered with, as they are giving death stares towards any adults they encounter.

Night five mentions the restaurant being on lockdown with no employees (especially previous ones) being allowed in or out, and Phone Guy mentions the dayshift guard position suddenly being available. Fredbear's Family Diner is also briefly mentioned, and that the original owner hasn't been heard from in ages.

Night six mentions that someone used a yellow animatronic suit for something, and now none of the animatronics are acting "right".

So, for those who don't know, allow me to sum it up for you:

William Afton - who was only known as Purple Guy when this game was first released - disguised himself as a security guard and worked the night shift at the new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, which opened in 1987. He used a spare Spring Bonnie suit to kill five children, just like he did at the previous Freddy's two years prior. He stuffed these five kids into Toy Freddy, Toy Chica, Toy Bonnie, Funtime Foxy (who I assume became Mangle AFTER this incident), and Balloon Boy. He also altered the facial recognition software of the animatronics so they wouldn't recognize him as a criminal. When this wouldn't stop the animatronics from attacking him at night, he complained, and was moved to the dayshift. Then Fazbear Entertainment discovered what he did and, instead of cleaning up their mess, they covered it up and essentially banned Purple Guy from their establishments. The new Freddy's was closed, and they decided to refurbish the Withered animatronics and open in a smaller location, presumably the original location of the old Freddy Fazbear's Pizza.

This was the second Missing Children's Incident. The problem is, it's not made very clear in later games what became of the second set of missing children, so they get overlooked easily in favor of the first set of missing children. We don't even know the names of the kids from the second group.

Also these two kids from the FNAF 4 minigame might have been the kids who became Toy Chica and Balloon Boy... look at what they have with them:

Why Funtime Freddy doesn't have makeup if she's a girl?

Funtime Freddy is a character who doesn't have makeup like the others in Sister Location, even Funtime Foxy who is thought as male has makeup, well that's because he's based off a male character from fnaf2 but anyway, why doesn't Funtime Freddy if she's female? Well we already know Funtime Foxy is based on Mangle who is a male and was designed to be "kid friendly lookin" so he gets it, Ballora was designed on Clara, or just took her soul ig, someone meaningful to William in ways, so obviously very feminine ballerina, while Circus baby is a clown so he has clown makeup, Funtime Freddy on the other hand has no reason to have any other then "fit the others" and that's not necessarily a reason also other female's such as Bonnet, and Bidybab, ect don't some say this is because they're small and to save money it's possible

But it's also possible this was only done to use more on Circus Babies design showing the fact Funtime Foxy's model was very small and Circus Baby is a lot bigger they probably just didn't add makeup on Funtime Freddy and the smaller ones to save metal (plastic)

Toy Freddy: has a neat little bow-tie with a collar, and two buttons (the ones you would find on arcades)

Toy Chica: has a big ribbon around the back of here neck, she also wears a tank top which says "Let's Party" on it and has a little sown on button.

Toy Bonnie: has a rounded now and a little jingle bell.

Funtime Foxy: has a big bow around her neck! He also has a speaker/voice bock!

Balloon Boy and JJ: hopefully when I make proper redesigns, I'll make their designs more unique, instead of them just being re-colours of one another.

Hmm this is by no means serious lol

1. FNaF2, perfect amount of characters to throw you off, plus a few fun mechanics to work with. Also the puppet/marionette. Loved her a lot. I remember the is foxy actually a good guy theory and that was nice. Basically you go in knowing you’re gonna die, a lot, and then you find out that there’s a lot more trouble than you anticipated

2. The fake pizzeria simulator 10/10 would play it as long as I could

3 Fnaf world. Great game, excellent humor, and provides a good challenge and replayability. Not to mention all the great character looks! Do you remember when people thought Funtime foxy was how mangle used to look? I loved every character and tried to grind so hard, (fuck chicas rainbow tho)

4. Probably Fnaf Sister Location. Good lore, good fun times, lots of things to enjoy and adds humor well (plus the show you watch in between shifts?. Amazing) but there’s also a wonderful amount of horror, that an observant player would pick up beyond the usual Jumpscares ( like noticing the technicians or realizing the mask up top is gone.) also lolbit cameo

5. Actual Pizzaria simulator, it’s fun but like. I enjoyed the pizzeria part more than the actual like, Fnaf part. I did enjoy the interview part with the animatronics though, but I’m a sane individual and sell them all and try to get the lobotomy or lore ending before night 5. The true ending is badass though and I quote Henry’s words in my head a lot

6. FNaF 3, fun mechanics, especially drawing out springman with bb laughter. Love the weird ass phantoms. Phone guy though, 20/10 you can tell he’s having a good time unaware I love him so much. Also love the thought that they’d put Mikey in a fur suit or a cosplay if they don’t find anything special before it opens. It’s a bit lackluster besides the him though, especially with only one murderbot but it’s nice

7. Fnaf 1. I enjoy it but also like Fnaf 3 it’s a bit lackluster. But it also started the franchise so that’s cool. I care deeply enough to not have it last tbh, but not much beyond that. Foxy always tries to visit on night one. Doesn’t matter if im playing it on the Xbox, switch, or through help wanted. Love the clingy fox, he Carry’s Fnaf one tbh.

8. Fnaf 4. Really only good imo lore wise. Like I know we’re playing as Mikey there but also like. Where tf did plushtrap come from fuck that noise.
