Lotus (by: Garden of Eve)
Oh my, I just went to a lotus farm with a friend. Look at this beautiful lotus I bought for my pond. We also ate lotus seeds. They tasted nutty, delish…who knew!🪷

First Seed Collection
I harvested & dried my very first seeds! 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never thought I'd be excited to see a flower die, but once I realized there were a bunch of seed pods on my Purple Foxglove, I was over the moon! I was able to collect & save quite a few, & there are still more seed pods left on the plant, so I'll be saving more over the next couple of days. I hope to use them for our friends, & build them a flower bed under the carport.
I also managed to save a lot of Red Coneflower seeds, but my plant is still blooming so there will be more to collect as the cycle continues. I already used all of the saved Red Coneflower seeds for part of the Sunflower fence & fountain area that I'm working on for our friends, so we'll find out if the germination rate is good.... Cause I totally forgot to save some seeds to the side.
I will post later how I saved my seeds, so that way if I need to improve my process in the future, I have somewhere to start, & maybe someone else can get some use out of it. 😉

My Fantasy World Has Bloomed
While searching online, I came across the trend of using dry rice and beans to trace a fantasy map. I loved the idea, but I decided on using flower seeds instead. Because when you want to create something, you start by planting a seed. I thought it was beautiful!
So I gathered a bunch of different flower seeds that I had saved up, such as Zinnia, Sunflower, Lupine, Cosmos, Snapdragons, Daisies, and some wildflower mix, and I spread them across my board, and then shaped them into continents and islands. Here is the result:

After that, I used a pencil to trace along the seeds. Once I had finished and wiped away the seeds, I found that my fantasy world had bloomed! I took a picture of it, put a blue filter on it, and then I erased the blue from the land so it would be more noticeable. Here is the result:
Tumblr media
I am so pleased with it. I adore the fact that flowers are what shaped my fantasy world for the book I'm about to start writing. The meaning behind it is beautiful to me. I even plan to include the same flowers in my story that I used to create the map. Zinnia, Sunflowers, Lupine, Cosmos, Snapdragons, Daisies, and wildflowers will all naturally grow and bloom in this fantasy world, and some of them could possibly have an impact on the story just for the symbolism, but who knows.
Anyway, I am in love with this whole process and I had to share it. If you're planning on making a fantasy map, you should consider using this method because I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did! Enjoying the beautiful meaning behind this has also helped my depression a bit. I hope it helps you too! 🌻🌼

I collected around 4000 seeds from my morning glories in October. I started growing them from seeds my mom gave me over 7 years ago. Since then I've been collecting the seeds and growing from those in the spring. I usually give some away to family and keep some for myself.
I collected so many seeds this year I decided to sell some on my Etsy -> Seeds

Begonia Seeds: Beauty in Bloom
Begonias are known for their lush foliage and continuous blooms, making them a favorite for gardens, containers, and hanging baskets. They thrive in partially shaded areas, adding brightness and charm to shaded corners.
Characteristics: Begonia plants feature waxy leaves and delicate flowers in shades of pink, red, and white.
Growing Tips:
Start seeds indoors 8-12 weeks before the last frost.
Use a seed-starting mix and keep soil consistently moist.
Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth.
Ideal Uses: Begonias are perfect for shaded patios, garden borders, or as houseplants.
Coleus Seeds: Foliage That Steals the Show
Coleus plants are grown primarily for their vibrant, multicolored foliage. With shades ranging from green and yellow to red and purple, coleus brings a tropical vibe to any garden.
Characteristics: Coleus leaves are intricately patterned, and some varieties feature serrated edges, adding texture.
Growing Tips:
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost.
Keep the soil lightly moist and maintain temperatures between 65-75°F.
Provide plenty of light, but avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorching.
Ideal Uses: Coleus plants work well in garden beds, containers, and as indoor décor accents.
Black Dragon Coleus: Dramatic and Unique
The Black Dragon Coleus is a standout variety with deep, velvety burgundy foliage and scalloped edges. It adds a bold, dramatic touch to gardens and containers.

Characteristics: The rich, dark leaves create a striking contrast when paired with lighter plants.
Growing Tips:
Follow general coleus seed planting practices.
Ensure soil is well-drained and rich in organic matter.
Pinch back the plant to encourage bushy growth.
Ideal Uses: Black Dragon Coleus is excellent for statement planters, mixed borders, or as a focal point in flower beds.
Cyclamen Seeds: Winter Blooms for Indoor and Outdoor Gardens
Cyclamen is cherished for its elegant, butterfly-like flowers and heart-shaped leaves. It’s one of the few plants that blooms beautifully in the winter months.
Characteristics: Cyclamen flowers come in shades of pink, white, red, and purple, often with delicate veining.
Growing Tips:
Start seeds in late summer or early fall for winter blooms.
Cyclamen prefers cool temperatures and well-drained soil.
Water from the base to avoid rotting the tubers.
Ideal Uses: Cyclamen is perfect for shaded garden beds, window boxes, or indoor planters.
