Lotus (by: Garden of Eve)
Oh my, I just went to a lotus farm with a friend. Look at this beautiful lotus I bought for my pond. We also ate lotus seeds. They tasted nutty, delish…who knew!🪷

What's this? The seed pod of a lotus flower. Bizarre and rather beautiful, yes?

First Seed Collection
I harvested & dried my very first seeds! 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I never thought I'd be excited to see a flower die, but once I realized there were a bunch of seed pods on my Purple Foxglove, I was over the moon! I was able to collect & save quite a few, & there are still more seed pods left on the plant, so I'll be saving more over the next couple of days. I hope to use them for our friends, & build them a flower bed under the carport.
I also managed to save a lot of Red Coneflower seeds, but my plant is still blooming so there will be more to collect as the cycle continues. I already used all of the saved Red Coneflower seeds for part of the Sunflower fence & fountain area that I'm working on for our friends, so we'll find out if the germination rate is good.... Cause I totally forgot to save some seeds to the side.
I will post later how I saved my seeds, so that way if I need to improve my process in the future, I have somewhere to start, & maybe someone else can get some use out of it. 😉

My Fantasy World Has Bloomed
While searching online, I came across the trend of using dry rice and beans to trace a fantasy map. I loved the idea, but I decided on using flower seeds instead. Because when you want to create something, you start by planting a seed. I thought it was beautiful!
So I gathered a bunch of different flower seeds that I had saved up, such as Zinnia, Sunflower, Lupine, Cosmos, Snapdragons, Daisies, and some wildflower mix, and I spread them across my board, and then shaped them into continents and islands. Here is the result:

After that, I used a pencil to trace along the seeds. Once I had finished and wiped away the seeds, I found that my fantasy world had bloomed! I took a picture of it, put a blue filter on it, and then I erased the blue from the land so it would be more noticeable. Here is the result:

I am so pleased with it. I adore the fact that flowers are what shaped my fantasy world for the book I'm about to start writing. The meaning behind it is beautiful to me. I even plan to include the same flowers in my story that I used to create the map. Zinnia, Sunflowers, Lupine, Cosmos, Snapdragons, Daisies, and wildflowers will all naturally grow and bloom in this fantasy world, and some of them could possibly have an impact on the story just for the symbolism, but who knows.
Anyway, I am in love with this whole process and I had to share it. If you're planning on making a fantasy map, you should consider using this method because I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did! Enjoying the beautiful meaning behind this has also helped my depression a bit. I hope it helps you too! 🌻🌼

Blooming Brilliant: A Review of the Medicinal Garden Kit
For the green-thumbed with a holistic bent, the Medicinal Garden Kit promises a path to cultivating well-being right in your own backyard. Having recently taken the plunge myself, I can confidently say it delivers on that promise, with a few minor caveats.
Success In seeding
The kit itself is well-presented, arriving with ten neatly labelled seed packets boasting a variety of medicinal herbs. From calming chamomile to invigorating echinacea, the selection caters to a range of common ailments. The included seed guide provides clear information on each herb, including its uses and ideal growing conditions. This was particularly helpful, especially for someone like me who wouldn't call themselves a seasoned gardener.
One of the kit's biggest strengths is the seed quality. All the seeds appear plump and healthy, and germination rates were impressive. Following the guide's detailed instructions, I managed to coax most of the seeds into life with minimal fuss. Within weeks, I had a thriving patch of seedlings gracing my garden, a testament to the kit's focus on high-quality ingredients.
Growing thoughts of knowledge
The hero of the kit, however, is the companion booklet – aptly titled "Herbal Medicinal Guide: From Seeds to Remedies." This comprehensive guide goes far beyond simple planting instructions. It delves into the history and uses of each herb, providing valuable insights into their potential health benefits. There are even basic recipes for teas, tinctures, and poultices, allowing you to transform your homegrown herbs into natural remedies.
For a complete novice like myself, this level of detail proved invaluable. It empowered me to not only cultivate the plants but also understand how to utilise them effectively. The guide even includes safety warnings, a crucial aspect often overlooked in beginner kits.
A Patch of Paradise (with a Few Thorns)
While the Medicinal Garden Kit is a fantastic starting point, it's not without its imperfections. The provided plant pots, while adequate for initial seedling growth, are a tad on the small side. For long-term success, you'll likely need to invest in larger containers, especially for herbs that sprawl or have deeper root systems.
The guide, while thorough, could benefit from including information on troubleshooting common problems. A section on identifying and dealing with pests and diseases would have been a welcome addition, particularly for those new to gardening.
My Verdict,
Overall, the Medicinal Garden Kit is a blooming brilliant introduction to the world of cultivating your own natural remedies. The high-quality seeds, informative guide, and diverse selection of herbs make it a worthwhile investment for anyone interested in a touch of herbal magic in their garden. Just be prepared to pot up your flourishing herbs as they grow and do some additional research if you encounter any gardening hiccups.
With a little patience and the help of this kit, you'll be well on your way to nurturing a garden that's both beautiful and beneficial. So, get your hands dirty, embrace the therapeutic power of gardening, and enjoy the homegrown rewards of the Medicinal Garden Kit.
