hc that lockwood was out running an errand earlier on the morning of Lucy's interview and saw a pretty girl looking into a shop window and was taken aback by how pretty she was and ran home to tell george. george could honestly care less but lockwood is so happy because he noticed that she had a rapier case on her back and rants to george about how she must be an agent and that means that he has a shot of seeing her again/talking to her.
and then a couple of hours later lucy carlyle, the pretty girl that lockwood had seen while he was running his errands, walks into 35 Portland Row and asks about getting a job and lockwood has to fight the urge to give it to her before even giving her an interview. george immediately knows what's going on and that's one of the reasons that he doesn't want lockwood to hire her- bc he can see that lockwood is all but jumping for joy when he sees her again and he knows that lockwood is already falling for her. george teases him relentlessly while lucy unpacks later that night.
EDIT: if yall wanna see some funny stuff and additive headcannons pls check the reblogs !!! they're fucking hilarious and there's a lot of memes

Lockwood: what do you think Lucy’s type is?
Flo: tall, wears suits, oblivious, dark hair, dry sense of humour, likes holding hands
Lockwood: sounds kinda like me. Too bad I’m pretty sure she’s not into me.
Flo: did I mention oblivious
Lockwood: yeah why
Flo: just checking

Renegades
Lockwood & Co The Darkest Minds AU
When a virus kills off half of the nation’s children, the ones left alive aren’t as lucky as they thought. With powers they can’t control and fear of what will happen to them, order and danger go hand in hand as detainment camps pop up all over Britain. Lucy takes refuge in the haven known as 35 Portland Row, but safety is uncertain as long as someone else is pulling the strings.

VERY EXPLICIT DETAILS AND DESCRIPTIONS OF MY FEELINGS AFTER FINISHING "THE EMPTY GRAVE"
I tabbed 5 pages: blue for 347, red for 354, green for 385, orange for 415 and yellow for the very last one
i. Lockwood tells Lucy about the blue sapphire necklace his dad got for his mum as a "symbol of his undying devotion".
I was listening to Radiohead for most of the book, and this scene in particular was very dear to me because "Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi" is almost most definitely Lockwood's song. Like. Everybody leaves when they get the chance to, but Lucy won't. Lucy is back here and he's with him and they're standing side by side and he nearly can't get the words out of his mouth that's gone incredibly dry but somehow he's telling her about the necklace in his palm and his mind is racing while thinking about how pretty it'd look against her supple skin. He's almost about to give it to her, his mouth is open but the words die in his throat because Kipps is leaning over the doorway and telling them that Winkman is here and now he might die and she might never really know about his feelings for her but it's okay, because she'll live. He'll make sure she'll live.
ii. "But, if anything, I had my eye on someone else."
"Good God, you don't mean George?"
"You must know there are other possibilities in this world."
Sweet, darling girl Holly and her unrecruited wlw crush. Sweet, darling Holly who was squealing on the inside whenever she caught a glance of Lucy, her glowing skin and twinkling eyes and bright hair. Sweet, darling girl Holly who couldn't help the mean words that sometimes spilled from her lips because God forbid anyone realised what actually might hide under those longing glances.
iii. Lucy and her pet Skully but Skully is being TAKEN AWAY and they're having an angsty goodbye.
I'm pretty sure I actually cried during this scene. As much as she hates to admit it, she's so fond of Skull and his company and she's so used to his vile, unannounced jokes and comments that when he's being taken away from her, her heart literally stops, even though she isn't in the living world anymore. We only realise what we have until we've lost it, and this quote fits here perfectly. Sure, she hates him and his comments are unneeded and he never helps her, but they can't just take him away, can they?
iv. "Marissa came by?" Lockwood asked. "Was she alone?"
"Hey, Lucy asks the questions around here," the youth said. "You can't just barge in and take over like you're the leader or something? Where's your respect?"
Bonus - Skull telling the Clapham Butcher Boy to "find his own human"
I GIGGLED SO LOUD. He's so emotionally dependent on her. Find your own goddamn human, fish face!! That's right!! He's my favourite character. Nothing intellectual to talk about here, it just made me smile really big.
v. She hung the symbol of Lockwood's father's undying devotion to his mother around. Her. Neck. Cause. Locky. Gave. It. To. Her.
CAN YOU HEAR MY SCREAMS AND SOBS? Oh my God, where do I even start? During the entirety of those 5 books, they've always ran and someone's been hunting them down and Penelope was always breathing over their shoulder but not anymore. They'll still take on dangerous jobs and get into little quarrels with Barnes but now Kipps and Flo are also part of their little 35 Portland Row agency. They'll still be in danger every day because that's just what their job requires but it's different because Lucy's got that little gemstone around her neck and it might not mean anything to simple onlookers but all the love and light that's ever been gathered in it is now shining upon her. It's casting a little golden halo around her head and it's all okay because even when death is looking them in the eye, they'll look at each other and nod and everything will be okay.
This is it! Thank you for reading my little rambles. I don't know how I'll ever recover, because 35 Portland Row will eternally be etched to my heart. As my favourite singer once sung, there'll always be a chamber in my heart dedicated to those three and all their little hooligan friends and the shenanigans they got into.

@netflix when you go completely broke and everyone has un-subscribed from your streaming service because you continue to give fans false hope for their beloved shows to be completed only to have that hope crushed the lockwood and co fans will stare down at you with contempt but we will not hesitate to remind you when we begged you to give us a second season you refused, we will not hesitate to remind you that maybe just maybe if you had listened to the outcry of all the fans of the amazing shows you canceled and instead given them just one more season people wouldn't have lost their faith in you.

Could I request an Lockwood x reader where they are often asked if they’re dating but they both deny it and in the end they confess to each other? Thanks so much :)
Tumblr media
WISH UPON A STAR
It all started when someone in the cafe asked that one question. “Are you two dating?” I almost dropped my spoon on the table, currently being used to stir my coffee, turning to the couple in the booth opposite. “S-Sorry? I didn’t quite catch that.” I stammered, my hand reaching up to fix my round, rose gold glasses. “Are you dating? I’m sorry if I startled you, but you two just look so cute together and I just had to ask.” I was at a loss for words for a moment, but luckily for me Lockwood answered my question, saving me. “Unfortunately not, madam, but I appreciate the compliment.” He flashed his gigawatt grin, smoothing down his shirt. I recovered from the momentary shock, sipping my coffee to dissipate the tension, recovering quickly. “Turning on the old charm, aren’t you?” I scoffed, tucking my strawberry blonde hair behind my ear. “Well, yes, in order to get a stranger to like you, you need to be charismatic, charming. Have you not learned that already?” “I’ve learnt that every stranger we meet turns out to think you’re a selfish jerk.” “Words hurt.” “Exactly.” Later, Lockwood was sitting with George in the kitchen, explaining everything. “They asked us if we were dating, hilarious, right?” He chuckled, pretending like he was wiping a tear from his eye. “What’s hilarious is that you two aren’t dating yet.” George muttered under his breath before speaking up, “Yeah, hilarious.” “Austin and I can never be a couple. We’re too… different.” “As in?” “We’ve two different ways of thinking.” “What you mean is that you pick the reckless way out and she picks the smart way out.” “Exactly. Two different ways of thinking,” They blinked at each other, George much more exasperated than Lockwood, who just appeared to be calm. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………… “So, after that, a couple next to us asked if we were dating.” “Well, are you?” Lucy asked, lying on her bed and reading while I stress-organised the makeup on our vanity, putting them according to colour. “No!” I cried, waving an eyeliner pencil in the air. “Lockwood’s a tad too reckless for me. He always has been.” “He got a lot less reckless when he met you. And you got a lot more reckless when you met him.” Lucy and I had been friends since we were small. We made a pact with Norrie to go to London, but when that backfired Lucy ran away, and when Jacob’s shut down I went after her, so we ended up here. “What do you mean ‘a lot more reckless’?” I interrogated, now waving a bottle of mascara around like a Harry Potter wand. “Remember when we had that case where you and Lockwood were trapped on the roof with a vicious Type 2?” “‘Course I remember that one, we almost died.” “Again.” We both chorused, counting the many times our lives were at stake. “But it was your idea to jump off the roof, onto the trampoline and land in the pool rather than the safer option: face it head on and wait for me and George to get up there.” “Admittedly, it wasn’t that safe to wait-” “But a million things could’ve gone wrong. Yet you did it anyway.” …………………………………………………………………………………………………………… “Lockwood, where’s my cover?” I yelled, chucking a flare nimbly at the oncoming Type 2, an angered victim of a house burglary gone wrong. I drew my rapier, holding it front of me. Admittedly, my rapier was my best tool, since I’d gained my grade 4 very quickly and now could even match and beat the likes of Kipps and Lockwood in a duel. Lockwood claimed that Kipps was a pushover, but if someone beat him at a duel? They deserve a medal. “Right here, Austin!” Speak of the devil. He ran forward, swinging the chain and lashing it forward. “Found the source. Every photo in this house has just one thing in common. Sophia Wallis wears a necklace in them, the same one each time. George messaged me saying that she was strangled to death with it.” “Real nice manner of death, don’t you think?” I said sarcastically, lunging forward and catching “It’s fascinating!” “Do you even have human emotions?!” I snapped. There’s a Type 2, Austin, focus. “Plan D.” “No way. Plan E.”
“Plan G.” “What’s G? We didn’t make a G. Did I authorise this?” “Of course you didn’t. Distract the ghost and run. We stand a better chance together than apart.” “Sound good.” We threw a flare at the same time, meeting our target and running as Sophia screamed, the sound grating my ears as we reached the bedroom, searching everywhere. “Nothing in the drawers.” I informed before moving onto the cupboard. “Nothing on the floor.” Sophia appeared again, and the sound of my rapier being drawn alerted Lockwood, who drew his. “Plan E!” He yelled, and in the heat of the moment I complied, performing an aerial to dodge the flying flare, feeling the object pass between my shins. I started searching, tearing apart the bedsheets until I found the source: the necklace, buried under the mattress. A splash of blood had rusted the metal, but the crystal still glowed brightly. I immediately grabbed the net hanging from my utility belt, throwing it over the source just as Lockwood was knocked back, hitting the wall and falling unconscious. “Lockwood!” I gasped, instinctively moving to check his heartbeat. It was slower than normal, but fast enough to tell me he was alive. I saw his chest rising and falling in an even frequency, but there was blood running down the side of his face from a small cut he’d gained. I tore a chunk off a spare bedsheet, pressing it to the cut and calling Lucy and George, who responded immediately. ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………
DEPRAC arrived on the scene a few minutes later, immediately taking the unconscious Lockwood on a stretcher and binding his head up. “This could mean a minor concussion, but you and your friends can look after him.” The medic nodded. “We’ll take him home.” “You can watch over him, Austin.” Lucy patted me on the back, not knowing what much else to do. “George and I will prepare some tea for you at Portland Row.” “We will?” George was met with a slap on the head by Lucy, who looked at him with a ‘don’t you dare argue’ face. “Thanks guys.” I smiled, climbing into the ambulance. I immediately was met with the familiar feeling of worry, gripping me as I held Lockwood’s hand, his familiar warmth trying to soothe me. He still had that small smirk like he always did upturning the corner of his mouth. I guess it was his special feature. Apart from his dangerous best plans. “Are you two dating?” The nurse asked quietly, as to not startle me. This time I wasn’t too lost for words, answering almost immediately and surprising myself. “No, but I wish we were.” I took a moment to realise what I just said, “But we can’t. Just as colleagues, this happens. What will happen if we get together?” “I think you should take a risk.” She replied matter-of-factly. I took a moment to think, until it hit me. I just got given love advice by a DEPRAC medic. …………………………………………………………………………………………………………… “Locky. Oi, Locky.” Lockwood woke up to the sweet sound of Flo Bones waking him up, sitting like a queen on the armchair while he was flopped on the chaise lounge. “Flo?” He called groggily, moving to prop himself up. “What’re you doing here?” “Here to see Austy. She’s in a right state, so you can tell me what happened in that there case.” She raised an eyebrow, waiting. “I was hit by a flying piece of wood. The ghost had telekinetic powers somehow, and I was caught in the crossfire.” He explained, hoping Flo wouldn’t ask more. “I may not have gone to no school, but I’m not thick. There’s more, isn’t there?” She gestured for him to continue. “The wood was aimed at Austin. I had to jump in the way or she’d have gotten seriously hurt.” “Are you two datin’?” “No!” He refused sharply, but then deflated. “But I wish we were. However, we work together. It’s best if we keep the line between work and personal where it is.” “That’s something about you that you need to change, Locky.” Flo tutted. “You’re one of my best mates, but you don’t know when to stop being like that closed door on the landing.” “I agree.” George sighed, entering. “Hey, Flo.” “Georgie. You look taller.” Flo briefly acknowledged. “Probably cause I’m sittin’ down here.” “Probably. I had to lift the biscuit rule and use many sugar cubes and coffee sachets to calm Austin down.” “Traumatic experiences.” Lockwood shrugged. “Everyone’s had them. What makes you think she’s any different?” “Cause you like each other.” The statement induced a sceptical grin from Lockwood, who turned away from Flo. “Of course I like her. She doesn’t like me, and it’s bloody embarrassing if it’s one-sided.” “Who said it’s one-sided?” Lucy smirked, sipping her tea at the door. “Are we having a therapy session in here? I don’t need to talk about this, now, if you excuse me, I need to talk to Austin Garcia.” He got up, but his concussion made him trip at the foot of the stairs. “Lockwood, the… stairs.” …………………………………………………………………………………………………………… “Are you sure you’re ok?” Austin asked as they took a stroll before curfew. “Yeah, I feel just perfect. What about you?” “I feel good. Better than before.” “Why wasn’t I warned that Flo was coming over?” “Nobody was.” I shrugged. “You know how she has her own key. She says-” “Never throw one away. It always unlocks something somewhere.” We both quoted at the same time, looking at each other and bursting into laughter. I felt our fingers intertwine, my finger reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. “A rose for the happy couple? On me.” A flower seller asked, holding out a rose. “We’re not a-” “Thank you.” Lockwood interrupted, taking the rose.
"We're not a couple, Lockwood."
"What if we were?" We stopped in our tracks. "I think about it every day. Waking up and the first beautiful sight is you. I wish that upon every star every day." He tucked the rose behind my ear, "The thought is simply too tempting to resist."
"Then why do you resist it?"
"Because I never really knew that I should take a risk for love. But I will today. Austin Iris Garcia, will you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?" My only answer was to grab his tie, pulling him in for a kiss filled with fireworks. His hands gently held my waist while mine cupped his cheek before playing absent-mindedly with the stands of his hair.

The ghost on Drury Lane had been a particularly brutal one, but they were Lockwood and Co, equipped with Lockwood's dazzling charm and George's extraordinary research skills. And then there was her, Lucy Carlyle, with her eerily sensitive Listening ability. Nonetheless, they had survived another night and were trudging back to 35 Portland Row filled with the satisfaction of another job well done. Well, at least they had managed not to set the house on fire so in Lucy's book, that counted as a success. George marched on ahead of her, his strides filled with purpose as he muttered something about hot tea and biscuits. Lockwood though, she noticed, trailed behind them, unusually quiet and seemingly lost in his thoughts. Usually, he would be talking up a storm, praising them for their quick thinking as a team and beginning to discuss the next mission. Lucy watched him for a while, fingers itching to brush away the stray strand of hair that fell over his forehead and then berating herself for the desire. That is not how one ought to feel about a colleague, for that was all Lockwood was to her. A generous colleague, her partner, her boss perhaps, but nothing more. Eventually, when they reached their home on Portland Row, George hurried up the stairs, turning his head to tell them that he was going to go put the kettle on. That left Lockwood standing below the steps to his house, still in deep contemplation. Lucy waited a moment before clearing her throat.
"Are you not coming inside?"
Lockwood's eyes flickered to the open door that George had just disappeared through, and then to Lucys's eyes, "Erm... yes, of course."
"Well," Lucy raised an eyebrow, "what are you waiting for?"
Lockwood cleared his throat nervously.
"Go on then, you clearly have something to say."
"Right, yea. I was thinking, if...would you like to go out with me for coffee?"
"Coffee?" Lucy was surprised, and her heart gave a hiccup.
"You know, like what normal people do. Hanging out."
Lucy felt her lips raise in a slight smile, remembering what she had said to Lockwood back when Kipps had asked her out, "Oh is that right then?"
"Yes," Lockwood shifted from one foot to the other and smiled at her. This was unlike his usual smiles, the ones that were blinding in their confidence and charisma. This smile was tentative and hopeful and Lucy had to admit that it had a more profound effect on her.
"Lockwood you do realize it is like 2 am and we are covered in dust right now?"
"It doesn't have to be right now. Whenever...tomorrow or the day after maybe? After you've rested of course."
"Alright yeah, tomorrow it is then," Lucy confirmed, trying to tamp down the feeling of hope that rose up within her. This was nothing, just a casual hangout between colleagues. Lockwood was just trying to be polite no doubt, wanting to make her feel like a normal person who went out on normal outings in the daytime.
Lockwood's eyes lit up, "Great, it's a date then."
"A date?!"
"Oh...if you want it to be. I mean if that's alright with you?"
"Yeah...yeah, I'd like that."
Lockwood's anxious smile morphed into that brilliant grin that showed his teeth and made Lucy's breath catch in her throat.
"Ahem, the tea was brewed several minutes ago, it's about time you lot came inside now," George grumbled from the doorway and the two teenagers rushed through, avoiding each other's gaze.
_________________
The very next morning, Lockwood and Lucy arrived at a cozy little café in the heart of London, with nervous hearts and voracious appetites. Lockwood had chosen the location himself, hoping to impress Lucy with his knowledge of the city's hidden treasures. Lucy picked out a table for two in the corner and Lockwood, ever the chivalrous boy that he was, pulled out her chair for her.
"Thanks for bringing me here, Lockwood."
Lockwood grinned back at her, "Anything for you, Luce."
Lucy couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. She had never been on a date with anyone before and didn't know what to expect. She had especially never been out with Lockwood in a context that wasn't for work. As they perused the menu, she couldn't help but steal glances at him, fingers still desperate to brush away that blasted stray lock of hair. The waiter arrived just then to take their order, and both of them ordered full English breakfasts for themselves. As they waited for their food, they chatted about the ghost on Drury Lane and reminisced about their adventures together. Lucy had been worried that the date would be full of awkward silences but the conversation flowed effortlessly between them and Lockwood made it easy for her to become comfortable. Lucy felt a warmth spread through her body, and she relaxed, her heart swelling with an unexpected bout of affection for him. She watched as he sipped his tea, his lips curling into a contented smile. She had always admired his sharp features and confident demeanour, but in this moment, she saw a new side of him. He seemed relaxed, and at ease. His features seemed softer, more vulnerable in the early morning light that streamed in through the large windows of the café, and his dark eyes sparkled with something she could not name every time they met hers. She then chided herself for noticing other things, the way his typical white button-up clung to his shoulders, and the way his slender hands moved gracefully as he talked.
When their food arrived, Lucy distracted herself by taking several bites of her eggs, hoping to ease the burning in her cheeks.
"Wow, this is delicious. You have great taste," Lucy sighed, her hunger finally having been satiated.
"Oh, it was actually my..." Lockwood hesitated a moment. "Someone I was very close to, it was their favourite place, so I can't take full credit for the find."
"They have my eternal gratitude, dare I say that this breakfast might even be better than George's."
Lockwood chuckled, "Lucy Carlyle? How dare you. I am going to tell George you said that."
"Anthony Lockwood, don't you dare," Lucy mimicked in his mock outraged tone.
Then Lockwood was staring at her and Lucy fidgeted under his gaze.
"Is there something on my face?" Lucy reached up to dab at her lips self-consciously with her napkin.
"Not at all."
"Why're you looking at me like that then?"
"Didn't know it was a crime to look at the pretty girl I'm out on a date with."
Lucy's cheeks flamed, as she ducked her head and shoved a piece of toast into her mouth so she didn't have to respond. Lockwood smirked at her response, but despite his flirtatious bravado, the skin of his ears was flushed pink.
"Would you like to take a walk after this? You know, see the city a bit?" Lockwood ventured, wanting the date to last as long as he could make it.
"Yeah, that would be lovely."
After they had finished their breakfast, they strolled through the streets of London, admiring the architecture and the hustle and bustle of the city. They talked and laughed, enjoying each other's company and the warmth of the sun on their skin. As they walked side by side, Lockwood's fingers brushed against Lucy's making her instinctively flinch. Lockwood immediately pulled away looking embarrassed.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to... I mean I did but..."
"Oh, no you don't have to apologize. I was just surprised that's all."
Lockwood looked relieved but his hand remained at his own side, hesitant and unsure. Lucy, sensing this, decided to take matters into her own hands. She reached out and grabbed Lockwood's hand, lacing their fingers together, trying to ignore the way her entire being tingled and the way her heart raced at the contact. Lockwood brought her to the banks of the River Thames. It looked tranquil in the daytime, the sounds of the city fading into the background, but Lucy could still remember its frigid temperature the last time she had jumped into it with Lockwood. Lockwood led her to a quiet spot by the river, where they sat down on a bench and admired the scenery.
"It is a lovely view, you know when we're not about to leap in from several feet above," Lucy laughed, her eyes trained on the horizon.
Lockwood's eyes never strayed from her face as he responded, his voice low and mesmerized, "Yes, quite lovely indeed."
Lucy turned her head and was met with his startlingly sincere gaze, a question on his lips that he could not seem to utter. It was surprising to see this side of him, so vastly different from his usual confident, charming self.
"Yes?" she prompted.
Lockwood took a deep breath, his hand shaking slightly as he reached out to tuck a strand of her hair tenderly behind her ear, "I've been wanting to ask...can I-ahem, can I kiss you?"
Lucy's heart skipped a beat at his request. She would have been lying if she said that she never dreamed of moments like this, but the way Lockwood asked still caught her off guard.
"Of course," she said softly, smiling at him.
Lockwood leaned in slowly, his lips stopping a hairsbreadth from hers, pausing to give her a chance to push him away, to rescind her consent, before brushing them against hers in a soft, gentle kiss. Lucy closed her eyes, savouring the sensation of Lockwood's lips on hers. The kiss was brief and delicate, and when they pulled away, Lockwood's eyes twinkled with adoration.
"That was... erm... nice," Lucy said shyly.
Lockwood laughed before leaning in to press a kiss to her forehead, "I'd say it was better than nice Luce. It was wonderful. You're wonderful."
