I thrifted a copy of All Systems Red and every page has a careful note on the edge about the plot point that occured on that page and this person is so sweet making little page number notes compiling every place mb has to pretend to be something its not
Started reading A Darker Shade of Magic and it’s fine so far, I’m around 60 pages in and kind of hoping something interesting will happen soon. The novel has started kind of slow and not a lot of “out of the ordinary” (in Kell’s perspective) is happening. Kell is giving me the vibes of an angsty emo dude circa 2005 and also someone’s edgy self-insert OC from the same era, lmao.
I’m not sure if this is the author’s debut novel or what, but the writing kind of has that vibe. It’s not bad, and I’ve definitely read worse, but the way it’s delivering the story is also a little bit unpolished to my eyes. I’m hoping it might develop a little bit once the plot gets properly going. :)
