"Okay so I feel like I first need to make the case that this isn't a real person, (feel free to not include it if you post this), but Sean Nelson, lead songwriter and singer for Harvey Danger, is clearly playing a character here for this song, he's said many things about how this song is basically just him making fun of the rising materialism in the punk scene in the 90's. But also the song is from the perspective of one of those punks, that he sets himself apart from. This is pretty common in Harvey Danger's songs, see also Pike St / Park Sl, and Sad Sweetheart of the Rodeo.
