Hello everyone!

Thanks lots for the support for my Cassette Beasts Partner VS Archangel (+ Averevoir) series! It is a lot of fun and I love this game so much. I’m playing the DLC now, so expect something coming out for that!

Anyway, this post is just me rambling about the details I put into each piece. Some have more details than others, but all of them have an equal amount of love put into them!

I’ll go in-order of how I met each companion in game!

Kayleigh:

For Kayleigh, Meredith, and Viola I re-used the same bricks from the train station and the background to match how they are in game!

All (except for Barkley’s) have a quote from the archangel overlayed as well. Some are easier to see than others.

But for Kayleigh, all the details are in her posing! Her pose is akin to how battles start, with the characters pointing their cassette players at the enemy before transforming.

But her pose also sort of represents her GIVING. She gives you your first cassette, she always is the one giving (which ties into her story with Mourningstar). You do not take from me, you only give.

Also Dorian’s death splatter in infront and bellow Kayleigh in the foreground haha.

Eugene:

The background is Mammon’s lair, of course! And he is in a fighting pose, ready to bash in some landlords!

The detail here I want to point out is how I created Mammon. It was really difficult since Mammon is the most abstract, and I have no idea what’s going on for 90% of him, but I am proud of how I made the face and the nose!

I used USD president / USA figures that are on USD to make the face and the nose! I did cutting and editing so it’s more pixelated. I am struggling to remember which specific notes I used, but they’re from two different USD.

Meredith:

It might be hard to tell, but my friend spotted it when I showed him this one, there is a record behind Nowhere Monarch! Since Meredith’s quest is about the record, I thought it was a nice touch. I also used Meredith’s posing ingame for her pose here.

Felix:

I loved Felix’s story so much, hits home as an artist.

The alter posts are in the background here!

Felix is also the only one not holding their cassette tape, since Felix wanted to apologize to Kuneko. He doesn’t really want to fight her, his hand out to her in apology. Used his sad expression ingame for his expression here.

Also Kuneko has glowing nails / claws just because I wanted to. And multiple kunai cause that’s cool.

Viola:

Viola my beloved, the first one I drew!

Her’s is a lot simpler, mostly because I wasn’t expecting to make this into a series and I just wanted to draw her. But I still loved how I drew Goodfellow here!

The book is open, reading their stories from Shakespeare’s plays.

There’s also spotlight on both Robin and Viola’s faces! Since that’s how Robin introduced himself and to show how they’re characters from plays!

Barkley:

Barkley is the only one not to fight an Archangel in their quest, so there is not glitching effects here! The background is, of course, the cave the fight takes place in.

There’s bones in the background, a leash and treats on the floor.

And of course, Barkley’s bootleg cassette! Barkley’s cassette is also the only tape I did not draw the fully remastered version of for the sticker. This was an accident both in the drawing, and in my game. I forgot to remaster it before fighting Aleph 😅.

I also didn’t meet Barkley immediately because for some reason I thought he was a captain? For the trial quest? I am not sure why I thought that.

And that is all for now! I am planning to do two oc drawings for Cassette Beasts, a DLC drawing, and probably an Aleph / final battle drawing!

But I’m not sure how long that will take.

hey do you have any advice for how to start a legend of zelda comic?

Eh not really since I haven't started one? 😅

Like, my zelink OC's au isn't a comic for that reason, it's why I decided to just stick to concepts and a bunch of moments whenever I feel like it instead of the traditional comic with a start and finish, that way I can play with the lore and world building more freely and add stuff whenever it comes to me

Now, the pain sharing au is based on an existing au comic, the characters are already established, the lore/context too, I don't have to introduce anything nor lore dump/do world building cause I'm borrowing the characters and overall context from something that already exists

It's like writing fic vs writing your own original story, when you write fic you don't have to spend time describing characters or the setting, the reader already knows so you just go right into the thing

Vs an original story where u have to set the mood, describe everything, do your own world building and establishing characters the audience will like, etc

So yeah, I don't have advice for like original comic making cause I don't know lol

If you just want advice for how to do a comic like the pain sharing au, just try to imagine the action or dialogues as static photos

I usually write the dialogues first, then plan the panels with that, imagine the emotions on each panel, like idk this dialogue is sad or this dialogue is angry! That way I know what emotion to draw

And then I just picture each panel 🤔 I usually try to have movement, I don't like it when comics are just panels of people from the shoulders up talking, I try to add hand or arm movement to the dialogue so it doesn't look as stiff 🤔

Anyway that's all the advice I have lmao

part of my process for drawing characters i've not illustrated before is to dedicate a sketch to studying and understanding their features before going ahead with the actual piece. i can't tell you much of a boon it is for artists that you have face claims for each Thranduilion!

(i hope they look alright! please point out anything that doesn't line up with your vision!)

Right now, I just can't decide whether to ask for a group picture of the 5, OR individual pictures, in "character reference sheets" style, because your detail work in character and clothing design is superb!

I might just ask for both individual and group pics, if I have enough funds for it. LOL. I just need to decide what to ask for first! :)

Oniyanagi 1st Generation Bosses

OCtober Day 4: Under-appreciated OC

Sorry this took a while @social-muffin! Also thank you for your interest in Kana and Kurumi's great-great-great grannies hahaha The questions below are based from Muffin's KHR OC ask post over here 🥰✨

I thought answering the questions for this prompt would work as a way to talk about them, since I barely get to draw/talk abt them vs their 10th gen counterparts. But do not be fooled, they also live in my head rent-free. Whenever I remember them, I start screaming, crying and throwing up. Thank you KHR for having a 1st gen in ur story, its another excuse for us to make another set of twin OCs.

What's your OCs name, pronouns and gender?

(Left, Older Twin) Name: Rinko Ninomiya Pronouns: She/Her Gender/Sex: Female (Gigachad, Alpha Female)

(Right, Younger Twin) Name: Ryuuka Ninomiya Pronouns: Any (People mostly use She/Her due to their clothing) Gender/Sex: Male (Doesn't bother correcting people who see them as Female, like with Kana, I'll mostly use she/her for consistency)

What's their current age and what age do/did they get involved with the khr Canon?

I guess if we were to make a sidestory for them, we'd make the "current" timeline for the story when their age is around 23-24. But the first time they kind of got involved with KHR canon should be around mid-teens, when they met Asari! Then around age 19-20, Rinko should've met Giotto by then.

For comparison, the twins are more or less one year older than Giotto.

What do they look like? Height, weight, unique physical features? (Drawings, Picrews, descriptions, all are welcome! Except AI art lmao)

Anyway, they both have the exact same height (168cm) and weight (49kg). For any unique physical features, I guess that would be for Ryuuka? She always tries to make it so that she's the same height/weight as her older twin. Even the choice of feminine clothing is because she wants to be perceived to have a feminine appearance like her.

What's your OCs relation to KHR? Are they someone's guardian, friend, subordinate, love interest? Or are they a family member of a canon character? If so, how are they related to that character?

They're both Giotto's close friends! This is the root of where the current Vongola and Oniyanagi's partnership agreement came from in the 10th Gen period. Rinko met Giotto first in a formal social gathering at Italy, through Asari. Rinko had a crush on Giotto at first sight, so naturally(to her), she immediately tried to befriend him like the gigachad that she is.

(fucksdjfhjsdf now I'm remembering that one tik/tok jojo sent me with the "itulak mo ako!"/"push me!", except it's Rinko and she asked Asari to push her to Giotto's direction => so Giotto can catch her lmao hahahaha)

Ryuuka wasn't there at that time since she was in Japan managing family affairs while Rinko was away, but she did eventually get to meet Giotto some time after that. Rinko looked very happy when she came home after all and told her all about the new friends/allies/business partners that she made while in Italy.

In the 1st Gen Vongola Guardians line-up, Ryuuka is also close friends with Asari. While they do spar together, since they're both experts with swords. More often, she also just goes to hang out and listen to him play the flute.

Rinko is also friends with Knuckle, the problem is that she's trying to get him to retire as priest and go back to boxing. So they can be gym junkies together 😭 (please imagine someone trying to convince their who swore off drinking to start drinking again)

What's your OCs flame/flames? If they have multiple, which flame is their strongest?

Both of them have Sky flames!

How does your OC use their flame? Strictly for combat, or more recreationally? Is flame use something instinctive to them, or do they have to direct their flame consciously?

From what me and Sou have right now, they currently just use it during combat. Though even then, they only use it when needed (usually it's not). The use of flames is also instinctive to them too.

Does your OC have a mafia family they are a part of? If so, what's their position in that Familia?

They're both the boss of the Oniyanagi yakuza family! Though the one seen more in public is Rinko, since she's the one mostly in the frontline of both battles and networking opportunities. On the other hand, Ryuuka is often locked up in her lab and handles various matters behind the scenes.

If your OC was a civillain what would their job be? Would they be happy with that job? Would they be good at it?

I'm thinking of modern times jobs right now so it's more fun hehe

Rinko would be a gym instructor that also runs a travel vlog channel! She love working out so much (it's insane) and has a wander lust as well. She'd be very good at both and would be very popular for it. She's also a great cook, the only catch is that she adds protein in almost all of her dishes.

Ryuuka is already a scientist herself. But she'd very much be a full time scientist as a civilian, particularly in the field of Biotechnology. She'd be a renowned expert in her industry, just don't let Umbre//lla Corp hire her (yes, this is a RE reference). She'd also be one of Geppetto Lorenzini's biggest fans in a gatekeeping type of way.

Do you have a voice actor picked out for your OC? If yes, why did you pick this voice actor? (If someone talked with your oc, what would they notice about their voice?)

Rinko's voice claim is Ami Koshimizu, while Ryuuka's voice claim is Kana Hanazawa!

Sou and I had twin OCs in Hai//kyuu before with these voice claims, so we just thought to reuse them. We listened to some of their roles and confirmed that these would still fit!

Last question! What's your OCs current fashion style? And what's their dream style? Are they close?

Rinko used to wear kimono or yukata, but ever since she started travelling to more western countries, she started to have a preference for western style clothing as well, so she wears suits and dresses in those styles.

Mostly when at work, Ryuuka just wears a white lab coat with a black turtleneck dress underneath. Though when just chilling at home or on rest days, she wears a black yukata and a white haori. She doesn't really have a dream style, since fashion isn't on her priority list.

Avani was heavily inspired by Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet. Avani’s original name was Avalon (inspired by the song Avalon by Rocky Music) and she was originally a Zygerrian. I didn’t like the canonical connotation behind Zygerrians so I scoured wookiepedia to find a suitable “cat” substitute and stumbles across Cathars!

And the first drawing of Avani I ever did years ago:

In Avani’s original design she had intricate designs on her ears and face. I ultimately decided to simplify them bc I really didn’t wanna be drawing that detailed. She also had short hair and a crown braid! 

Took me a few years but I’m very happy with where her design is at now <33

Now let’s get onto some character design study! Let’s start with her limbs!

I was going to make her limbs white, which aesthetically didn’t look nice, so instead of white limbs, I thought maybe I make it the colors OF the stripes, with the white slightly showing, and if your wondering how her limbs turn from normal to tiger.. let me demonstrate..!

That’s basically how her limbs change color, her limbs originally have dark stripes with a slightly lighter rest of the skin, depending on how much she turns into a tiger is how much the colors show!

The paws on the normal limbs are different from the tiger ones, I couldn’t make the paws the exact same color as the limbs so I made it lighter (since I didn’t show it in the reference above, I didn’t put it’s color in the palette)

Her tail completely shifts into nothing just like her fur on her neck, I thought it would be cool if I added small stripes along her neck where the fluff comes but I thought it was a little too much, since the limbs were already showing off the cool stripes, yk?

Plus, if you noticed, the more normal version of her is more awkward and shy, to the point she doesn’t even know what pose she should make! But the more she shows off her bestiality, the more confident and proud she is! Since tigers are very strong and confident, I thought it would be cool to make her lose/gain that confidence based on how normal/bestial she is!

Her claws can unsheathe, which is why I demonstrated it in the reference above btw

To disguise her stripes, she said she was just born with this “odd beauty mark pattern” which wasn’t exactly a lie, some people would fall for it, and some got suspicious but didn’t think too much about it

And uhh about my older sonas, (Fuorzy, Bookmark, and Portal) I’ll see which ones I’m gonna stick with since I think I’m losing my hype for Bookmark

And to end everything, she is one of my (favorite) sonas now, as she really shows off everything I have!

I am a white tiger therian, very VERY skinny, I have glasses (my old ones were circle glasses), freckles, I always feel confident and happy when I shift into Xue, aka my theriotype, and in reality I am a very shy and awkward person!1!

Soo.. WOAAH!! HI OBJECTIFED VERSION OF ME!! :D

I thought it would be such a perfect idea to add my theriotype in my sona because I got SO MUCH therian energy off of Dynamite! Which inspired me to make my own oc and lore and au and… yeah you get my point.. <:D (I actually shifted earlier today and yesterday after months of nothing which felt so refreshing, I thought I lost my connection for a while!)

How did you start drawing? What year was it that you become more seriously and consciously interested in it?

i don’t really remember, but for some reason drawing was an activity that interested me the most?? i’m not counting playing with toys and imagining things, but it’s about creating something from scratch. one time i made paper dolls, wrote a short scenario (very poorly lol) and kinda made a theatrical play in my head with all of this??

spoiler: in 2021 i’ve made an actual play with my best friend, who’s also an artist, with great paper dolls and a great scenario! it was for a college exam, we got the highest score. :3

i started taking it all seriously in 2014, when i went to my first art school. it was small, literally one room, and there were lots of other classes in the same building, like singing, dancing (i did that too at some point), etc. then i moved to the bigger one, that was solely for arts, but i didn’t make it past the first year due to health reasons. so somewhere in the mid-10s.

When you felt the urge to share your art with other people? When did you start posting your drawings on social media?

when i saw other people around me doing it. it was 2014 when i first shared my art online (got a lot of hate because it looked bad lol), and then it was 2016 when i made my first tumblr acc and posted some anime art with some consistency. now i post here and on another platform, just duplicating the content lol

Dr. Valentina Rosa García, The RED Chemist

The RED Chemist uses her doctorates I pharmaceuticals, toxicology, and biochemistry to explore the limits of the world's chemistry, which includes other people, especially the enemy team. Underneath the mask, the RED Chamist can come across as cheery and passive to a fault as a front to make her appear as non-threatening as possible to her coworkers. While she knows everyone is supposed to be equals, the Chemist is very aware of how she's perceived as just how many odds are stacked against herself. Knowing she may not always be seen as an equal, she would rather not be perceived as an obstacle, lest someone decide to poke around for projects that must stay between the RED Chemist, Miss Pauling, and the Administrator. The RED Chemist is a woman of many thoughs outside of her genius, shrouding the complicated perception of the intersections between her morality, her occupational duty and the cruelty is requires, and her own scientific curiosities. That being said, her scientific curiosities couple well and flourish within her occupational duties, making her more likely to sidestep her moral obligations as a human being for the sake of satiating herself and her higher ups.

Assassin/Carissa Eirwyn Artemisia

Assassin is a 5'2", scientifically cursed/enhanced mercenary. Trained by her grandmother after her parents refused to believe she could take on the tradition of one child being a mercenary, Assassin joined with her first team. Only to be brutally betrayed by being treated as a science experiment for immortality and later left for dead when her actions resulted in a teammate losing his legs instead of his life. Now, joining Team Fortress 2, Assassin first comes off as cold, closed off, and isolated. But she's also observant, adaptable, and efficient. Despite seeming like she hates working with others, Assassin will have the team's backs when they seem to least expect it or most need it.

Her game mechanics include an all melee load out, her twin blades act as the main weapon, a bladed polearm will always be her secondary, and her tertiaries are usually a whip or throwing weapon. The main gimmick for her class would be the Blink Step, allowing her 6 'teleportations' within a 20 hammer radius every 45 seconds. If she uses all 6, they have to recharge before she can use them again. The tell for them is a wisp of dark gold/purple smoke where she was and where she will be. Assassin can only teleport herself, this cannot be used for the rest of the team.

For how she interacted with the other mercenaries, usually closed off, indicative of her broken trust. Over time she warms up to them outwardly. She tends to compete with Spy, as their classes work similarly, and will exchange friendly banter on the field and during practices. She enjoys art and will occasionally talk with Scout about his drawings or her paintings, when he's not being too hyperactive. Engineer and Demo are good drinking buddies, and Heavy is her go-to for quiet. Pyro is probably one of her favorite people alongside Sniper, both allow her just enough chatter to make a hangout not boring but won't be so hyperactive she wants to blow a gasket. Pyro does get a little intense though… She hates being stuck alone with Soldier, he's too intense for her liking. Medic… she doesn't go near if she can help it. He brings up too many bad memories (trauma), but she won't abandon him on the field.

Assassin prefers to paint or sketch, or read, while listening to various musicians in her office time, can often be found sparring or fighting dummies to keep her skills up, and is highly proud of her skills on the field.

1) Do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?

For the last decade, nearly all of my fics have existed solely within my mind. To say I daydream a lot is an understatement. I've had some sort of maladaptive daydreaming disorder since I was quite young. On the upside, it generates a lot of ideas and scenes. On the downside, it's called "maladaptive" for a reason. Everything I write was initially drafted by my nightly pacings. I've only just now gotten into writing these ideas out again.

5) How many wips do you have? What fandoms/pairings are they for?

Okay so, counting only the written WIPs, I have one. It's a canon-compliant m/m Lost fic centred on an OC who was on Oceanic Flight 815 and his relationship with Ben Linus. It's still in its infancy but coming along nicely.

I have a few more things hovering around in my head.

Two for Person of Interest:

- Harold Finch x Trans Man OC. Harold's first real love re-enters his life (*side-eyes Machine*) and he can't find it in him to walk away, no matter how much he wants to in order to keep OC safe. Harold still loves Grace, it's just a case of this being the person he was supposed to be with.

- Canon-compliant Gen fic. Harold suddenly has custody of his now-teenage kid who is as much of a menace as Harold was in his youth. In the battle of nature vs nurture, nature won in a big way.

Two for Evil:

- Leland Townsend x Trans Man OC. Once long-time friend (and quiet admirer) of "Jacob Perry" remeets him, both having taken on new forms of themselves. There's redemption arc elements for Leland, based off the shreds of good that got revealed in S4. His usual corrupting tactics don't work on OC so he performs some of his former self's traits in order to draw OC in. This ends up emotionally wrecking him as he realises that OC loves the man he used to be, not his current self.

- Leland Townsend x Male OC. In juxtaposition to the above concept, this one is two morally dubious gays being morally dubious and gay. They manage to bring out both the worst and the best in each other; perfectly balanced as all things should be.

12) Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them?

I most definitely do outline my fics! Structure is an important part of my life as someone who struggles with executive dysfunction. Checklists, alarms, itemised lists, and itineraries are my lifeline. When I don't plan ahead and set realistic goals and timelines, I tend to lose focus, waste my time, and stress myself out so much that I accomplish less or nothing at all.

How detailed my fic outlines are depend on if I'm following a canon timeline of events or creating my own direction. When I go canon, I tend to go ham for the authenticity. For my Lost fic, for instance, I made a day-by-day timeline of the events of the show as a reference. It mainly focuses on what the MC is witnessing but sometimes mentions "off-screen" big events that I as the writer need to remember happen on that day. Some days have much shorter entries than others. It helps me orient the MC within the world; I want him to be able to refer to and be impacted by past events in a realistic way.

Something I've recently discovered doing that I think I'm gonna stick with from now on is little chapter notes. Each chapter has a Plot note with a few sentences covering the general events of the chapter and how many "page break" sections it'll have, a POV note to denote what character we're following in each section, a Relationship note to track the current emotions of the main couple (especially towards each other), and a Characters note to track the relationships the MC has with other characters. It might sound too rigid to some people but it helps me get the pacing of each chapter right and make sure I'm shifting character emotions in a way that makes sense.

18) Do you enjoy research? Which fic of yours required the most research?

I'm one of those people who will find out the rules of the world the story is set in an strictly adhere to them. Sure there can be a magical Island, a corporate organisation of 60 demonic houses, or a sentient A.I. that was built by one man...but these things also exist in an otherwise present day reality so you can bet your ass I'm gonna look up how long it takes to obtain a specific degree or job certification, what schools exist in this area, which train goes to what stations, and other extremely trivial yet grounding real world details.

The most research I ever did for a fic was for a character profile I made of a BBC Musketeers OC. I went full historically accurate and spent 14 hours straight writing what ended up being something like 10 pages on a character I never ended up doing anything with. She must've possessed me.

39) What’s your most self-indulgent wip?

All of my writing is self-indulgent. I have always written to express my own emotions, escape from my own life, and bring myself joy and catharsis. I only ever published things online because I figured one or two people might derive a bit of joy out of it. As I said earlier, every fic idea I have stems from daydreams, which means that all my OCs are, to some degree, self-inserts. I'm at peace with that, though, as so much of my lived experience includes things I want to see represented: gay men, trans men, neurodivergency, speech issues, physical disabilities, chronic pain, mental health issues, volatile family relationships.

My most self-indulgent is probably the one where Harold has a kid. All my OCs resemble different parts of me but this one is my catharsis fic, the one where I heal my inner child. This kid is gay, trans, autistic, hearing impaired, walks with a cane due to a hip and lower back injury, and had an abusive mother. He is respected, loved, protected, and prioritised by Harold. Despite his physical and mental conditions, the rest of Team Machine don't underestimate his capabilities; Harold does though because it's basically his job to think his child is made of glass. He's a tech whiz like his dad, a practiced liar, is pretty good at using his cane as a melee weapon, and gets to hear the Machine's God Mode communication through his hearing aids. Making the Machine conversing with hearing impaired people a theme was too good to pass up.

76) How do you deal with writing pressure, whether internal or external?

I don't receive any external pressure, thank goodness, but I guess the closest thing to internal pressure I feel is the deeply seeded doubts I have about my ability to write linear stories. My 9th grade English teacher really tore the soul out of every writer in our class and restricted our creative writing so much that I basically stopped writing. It's a whole long, upsetting story that I won't get into but the gist is that I'm still unpacking that damage and fighting against the urge to give up.

77) Why do you enjoy writing fanfiction?

I pretty much covered this above in the self-indulgent question. To reiterate, it's an outlet for my imagination, my emotions, and my need for escape.

Will you ever draw Wyatt again? Like how he would look in your Cyberpunk Dragons Au vs how u had him for FNAF? Ps I love your art especially how you make characters chunky, I just want to hug them!!!

Aaw thank you so much that really means a lot!! I too love my chunky characters, I'm glad others enjoy them as well ;; <33 And for sure, there will definitely be more Wyatt!! Especially now that he's in CPD where he actually has an entire story arc that revolves around him!! He also doesn't look any different from when he was a FNAF OC, he's still an animatronic mascot, he just got ported over to Cyberpunk Dragons where he's the main character for the world's largest multi-media company, Neon Wonderland (essentially the in-universe equivalent of Disney with Wyatt as their Mickey Mouse).

A little fun fact about Wyatt, he is the only fully sentient robot in the CPD universe, and it's a very closely guarded secret by his company!

Ninjavember 2023!

Here's completed version with a bunch of explaining below each picture! Just scroll down if you don't want to see me blabbering. (I tried to go short as much as possible)

(I have a lot of AUs and headcanons that only exist in my head and my sketchbooks. Forgive me for wanting to spill them out.)

Day 2: Randy was listening to music with earphones so he didn't know Theresa was sitting next to him. Imagine how embarrassed he would get when he knows.

Day 8: Tech-Ninja AU. It's about machinist Randy being set up by Mcfist for murdering the town hero Ninja with his invention, the Tech-Ninja armor. Then the spirit of the destroyed Nomicon travelled to his armor and become an AI, choosing him to be the next Ninja. So Randy accepted it and was determined to make up for what he caused, when nobody except Howard, the boss of Weinerman industries, trusted him.

Day 10: Apocalypse AU. It's about Randy lost the battle at the end of season 2 and became the prisoner of the Sorcerer. The Nomicon was handed to Howard before that, and they later recruited survivors to form a resistance against the Sorcerer. Then Randy was stanked, but instead of turning into a monster, he was brainwashed and given the power of creating his own red and black stank. And- You know what will happen. (Inspired by the Darkness of Randy Cunningham)

Day 13: Elemental trial AU. You can say it's my take on what will happen in season 3. The Carp god was under the cover of a random carpfish as Norisville mascot. After a series of events it was awaken and gave Randy the power of Ice Rage.

Day 14: I think there's more than just the blood of First Ninja's brothers, since nobody knows how to destank people at the beginning...

Day 17: The Warrior might have been living or sleeping there, waiting for some ninjas to wake him up or consult him about his forbidden arts. (Ha, It's kinda like Eclipsa in Star vs. the forces of Evil)

Day 18: Or it can be called the New Generation AU. In the future, Randy took the place of Messager as well as the Ninja Guardian, while Brent became the new Sword Smith and Sorceress became their main villain. I am not really good at designing OCs so there's no next ninja yet.

However, I read a fanfic of another fandom in the form of CYOA, and it gave me new idea: just let the reader be the next ninja, it will be fun, too. (Also, this AU was inspired by an RC9GN fanfic titled from the past to the future, where future Randy became Ninja Guardian. But I couldn't find it on fanfiction.net any more. Has anyone read it? I didn't dream about it, right?)

Day 19: During that time I got even crazier after I read Enter the Nomicon. It's hard to believe I had a crazy period of shipping Randicon, even for myself. Especially weird for me since I now have a completely different view about Nomicon (peek at my Yokai Ninja AU comics). Time really can change a person, wow.

Day 21: Yes, a whole page just for this headcanon. I used the screenshots in the show because it's too hard to draw. The barrier thing is kinda like the one that held Bill's power in the range of Gravity Falls.

Day 23: Danny: the Walking Air-Conditioner. Inspired by a chapter of Secret Quartet. Danny phased his hand through the scarf. Just imagine your friend put a cold hand inside your scarf in winter. *shiver*

Day 25: Besides Ninja vine ball, there are also spike ball, gas ball, sonic ball, rainbow illusion ball, tear ball and so on. I just pick the most common one from my ninja balls headcanons to put in here.

Day 27: You may see I prefer using numbers to refer episodes, because that's how I track and rewatch them. To be more specific, I list some keywords here: NomiRandy, First Ninja, Debbie, Tengu. As fellow RC9GN Fans I'm sure you get it.

Day 30: It's a half-baked AU thing. The flowers I tried to draw are rosemary?

Uh oh, who let me into a fandom again? Who left the niche within a niche door open??? Y’all should know better.

@sm-baby’s Carnival AU for The Amazing Digital Circus grabbed me by the bootstraps with??? Inspiration??? Not only have I dodged most fandoms and the motivation to draw fanart (not that I don’t want to show support; just no ideas in the noggin), but I genuinely don’t think I’ve sat down and put a non-ironic, genuine OC for a media I like on paper since my Warrior Cats/Creepypasta era. This AU didn’t just get me to sit down and make an OC that fits with the original media, but one that fits with their derivative. I saw other people doing it and it looked like so much fuunnn.

First, have standard TADC version! Either that or a player.

This is Tuus! They’re mainly based on the beanie baby dragon to fit that sweet sweet 90s theme, but generally a mixture of beloved childhood toys I have sitting on my shelf. She’s scruffy, worn, and kinda dirty looking and that’s on purpose. She’s bottom heavy, and I wanted her wings to give off the texture of that basically-plastic shiny fabric you used to see on a lot of toys.

No mouth, but a randomly appearing lizard tongue. For fun.

Tuus deals with the circus by sleeping. A lot. Too much. If you don’t need to sleep, then you don’t need to be awake. If she’s doing to be trapped in a digital hell, she might as well be catching up on her naps. And she will sleep in the worst places. Time for a digital feast? She’s on the table. Caine wants to have an adventure in the lake? Girl is at the bottom. Sleeping with the fishes fr fr. And you need to find her one day? Nowhere to be seen, probably on the roof.

It’s playing on the whole big, lazy, sleeping dragon thing that used to be in a lot of children stories I remember. But also how well loved childhood toys seem to pop up and disappear, there when you aren’t looking but gone when you are. Her name also means “Your” or “Thy.” Your dragon.

BUT AT THE CARNIVAL?

What amusement park is complete without a gift shop? What game doesn’t have a place to buy goofy digital goods? Tuus is the big lady in charge of the gift place of the Carnival! Her room is what should have been a shop of sorts, to buy whatever products that darned company would have tried to push. Cosmetics, virtual toys, digital snacks, whatever. But, uh, I don’t think anyone told them dragons don’t like to…. share. Becoming sentient did wonders for the attitude. You should be just fine if you don’t make too much noise, though! She’s a lazy lizard, and often sleeps sprawled around the place. I imagine the level would be set up like a maze, or a labyrinth. Isles and isles of things, with peaks of a tail or smoke every now and again. Toys, clothing, and even random things that shouldn’t be in there just trash the path. It’s your job not to step on anything! It’s different each time, though (a speed runner’s nightmare). One level you might get lucky and have a straight shot with a sleeping dragon, the next there might be so many things it’s physically impossible to reach any exit at all. Potentially can get out of trouble with some digital coin™, but you’ll have to have found enough hidden in the room to forgive each “damaged item.”

Here she is much, MUCH larger and far cleaner. An oversized display never meant to be bought. A collectors item far too expensive for a child. Think “I used to be a beloved toy and now I’ve been forgotten, even forgetting myself, and this is how I cope” favor VS “I have never known the touch of a person and have been trapped on this shelf only to be abandoned and have the personality of an unsocialized dog” flavor.

She has no mouth, but she bites.

I want to draw more of her :) She’s a goof.

Apologies for dropping in your inbox like this without warning, but I felt the need to thank you for your post on Welsh Arthurian tellings. Particularly this part:

No Lancelot and No Affair. PERIOD. And absolutely no compromise or cheating on this one: you cannot turn anyone else (coughBediverecough) into a Lancelot analogue. You must sacrifice the Love Triangle completely - no "duty vs. love" drama. You're going to have make do without that conceit. You must exercise your own creativity and forge a different dramatic conflict for Arthur and Gwenhwyfar, if at all.

Turning Bedwyr into a Lancelot analogue, as if he has no character of his own, for some overplayed drama when other potential sources of conflict exist is one of my biggest pet peeves in Arthurian fiction. Right next to "You marketed your book as historical fiction, why are Lance and his gang all here?"

Whenever I complain about it on my blog, though, folks act like I just spoke some sort of literary blasphemy, lol.

I'm developing a visual novel that uses elements from Welsh Arthuriana; while I find the creative process fulfilling because heck yeah be the change you want to see in the world, the downside is it really does feel like it's near impossible to talk about. Mostly because everyone expects The Usual(tm), you know? And then you have to sit there and be like "Well, it doesn't have Merlin... or Lancelot... or Galahad... or the Round Table... and Excalibur is called Caledfwlch... uh... May I interest you in a Saxon OC? How about a drawing of Arthur lathered in the blood of his enemies?"

The VN takes place after the Battle of Camlan, and essentially functions as a "what-if" exploring Arthur's fate if he hadn't died. (As tl;dr as I can make it: he's conscripted for spiritual warfare by a strange Saxon man, Creoda, who's curse-blessed by the moon god to resurrect from death on the condition that he visits justice on his murderers. Arthur's seen weirder stuff, lmao.)

I've always been fascinated by Camlan's aftermath and wanted to explore Arthur's characterization when he's "forced" to continue living past the end, so to speak. At first, he simply wants to join his men, but he slowly regains agency as he tries to extricate himself from Creoda's machinations and the sins of his past. The world believes he's dead, so he's freer to act as he wishes.

For the central conflict underpinning Camlan, I decided to streamline the Gwenhwyfach subplot. Gwenhwyfar is instead Medrawt's sister, and he delivers her the fatal blow when she mocks his inebriation one too many times (context: he drinks to cope with the guilt of failing to protect the etifedd, Amr, from dying at the hands of Saxon captors). The blow forces Arthur to respond as a matter of honor, and here we get a long, dragged-out war of attrition between the two men.

Gwenhwyfar turns to Christianity for comfort. In tandem, she grows to resent both Arthur and Medrawt, as she believes neither truly had her in mind when they marched to war. She merely served as a convenient excuse for them to "rattle their spears" at one another.

The antagonist, who is meant to foil Arthur, is Creoda of Wessex. (Well, technically Creoda of the Gewisse, since Wessex kinda ain't established yet). He seems to have been invented to explain a 19-year gap between differing versions of West Saxon genealogy, because his name is otherwise oddly absent from the records. The sources I've read online on his lineage are contradictory and fragmented. So due to a paucity of information, I basically went "my city now." :P

Where Arthur is hotheaded but an active leader, deriving authority from his role as protector of the island of Prydain, Creoda represents a more dehumanizing view of nobility and the corrosive effects of the divine right of kings on the psyche. I won't wander too deep into the weeds here because this ask is already pretty long as it is, but that's the gist of it, lol.

Welsh Arthuriana offers ample creative material. I just wish more people seized the opportunity to flesh out less explored avenues.

Very interesting premise with a Post-Camlann!Arthur. I would suggest looking into the Wild Hunt and Sleeping-in-a-Cave Traditions of King Arthur if you want expand on the "Forced to live on after Camelot" aspect.

I believe it's because their Bible of Arthuriana - and more importantly, it's preferred themes, meaning & interpretation - begins and ends with the "Holy Trinity" of Modern Arthuriana: Le Morte D'Arthur, Idylls of the King and Once and Future King.

This Modern Trinity has been the writer's reference point and source material for their own stories and pretty much dictates the plotting and thematics of all modern retellings, including the retellings trying to subvert it, like Mists of Avalon or Warlord Chronicles.

Welsh Arthuriana offers ample creative material. I just wish more people seized the opportunity to flesh out less explored avenues.

I feel that a lot of people find looking into the Welsh Traditions difficult not only because the material is obscure and fragmentary but also because it entails removing and replacing the themes and characters they have come to prefer from classical sources: Courtly Love, the premise of a Utopian setting, Romantic notions of Monarchy, Fellowship of Cool Knight Bros, Religion and Lofty Ideal debacles, etc. - none of which is prominent within the Welsh Matter.

The Welsh Matter, if anything, is about Worldly concerns - Marriages, Wealth, Raiding, Ethno-National Politics, etc. - intermixed with Otherworldly (but not Religious unless its a Hagiography or an adaptation of the French) ventures - Mystical Cauldrons and Objects, Giants, Trips to Annwfn, Monster Hunting, Shapeshifting, etc.
