the arcane fandom can argue about literally anything, but the one thing we all agree on is that ekko, the boy savior, is the most unproblematic character ever, and that we all absolutely love him. while everyone else is caught up in gay tragedy of all kinds, my boy ekko is just over here trying to fix his goddamn tree

Ekko being protective while you are expecting
– short drabble
featuring. ekko x pregnant! reader
this was a late night thing so if there’s any mistakes let me know
Tumblr media
Bright, golden sunlight filtered through the cracked glass of Zaun’s upper levels, casting a warm glow over the patchwork city. Rustic smell lingered throughout the entire city even in the places were you would think it would be. It was a sharp contrast to the pristine towers and polished streets of Piltover, but you’d come to love the chaotic beauty of Zaun. Its grit and resilience mirrored the spirit of its people, and despite everything, it had become home.
You adjusted the basket on your hip as you weaved through the narrow alleys, a small smile on your lips despite the slight strain in your back. The sounds of the city surrounded you: children laughing as they ran between stalls, the hiss of steam escaping from overhead pipes, and the occasional distant hum of machinery. Though Zaun was far from perfect, it had a heart. A fierce and determined spirit that had drawn you to it.
A boy darted out from a corner, his face smudged with dirt and his eyes wide with curiosity. “Miss!” he called out, holding up a small metal trinket he’d likely scavenged. “For good luck!”
Your heart melted at his gesture, and you crouched carefully to meet him at eye level. “Thank you, sweetheart,” you said warmly, taking the trinket and ruffling his hair. “Here, this is for you.” You handed him a piece of fruit from your basket, earning a toothy grin before he bolted off, his laughter echoing through the alley.
“Shouldn’t be out here on your own,” came a low, familiar voice from above.
You straightened, glancing up to find one of Ekko’s scouts perched on a rusted ledge, his sharp eyes scanning the area. He nodded at you before disappearing into the shadows, leaving behind only the faint sound of his boots against metal. You sighed, shaking your head with a mix of amusement and exasperation. Ekko.
Ever since you’d told him you were expecting, his protectiveness had gone into overdrive. If he wasn’t by your side, he made sure someone else was. and it wasn’t just for appearances. You knew how much he cared, how deeply he felt the responsibility to keep you safe. But it didn’t stop you from feeling a bit smothered at times.
You resumed your walk, stopping occasionally to hand out bread or share a kind word with someone in need. It was who you were, helping others brought you joy, even if it meant ignoring the occasional twinge of discomfort in your back. But as you reached out to give an elderly woman a loaf of bread, you felt a familiar presence behind you, the air around you shifting.
“Thought I told you to rest,” Ekko’s voice came, soft but firm.
You turned, your heart skipping at the sight of him. He leaned casually against the corner of a building, his staff slung over his shoulder, his sharp gaze fixed on you. His white hair gleamed in the sunlight, and there was a mixture of exasperation and fondness in his expression as he approached.
“I’m fine, Ekko,” you said, offering him a small smile. “I was just—”
“Helping people,” he interrupted, his lips quirking slightly. He stepped closer, his presence grounding, and his eyes softened as they drifted to the curve of your stomach. “I know, you’re always helping people.”
“It’s important to me,” you replied, your hands resting over his as he reached out to touch your bump. His palm was warm and steady, and for a moment, the world around you faded away.
“I know,” he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. “It’s why I love you. But you’ve got to let me take care of you now. Both of you.”
The sincerity in his tone made your chest tighten with emotion. You leaned into him, letting his strength envelop you. “You already do,” you whispered, tilting your head up to meet his gaze. “I’ve never felt safer.”
Ekko chuckled softly, wrapping his arms around you. “Good. Because I’ve got eyes everywhere, just so you know. You can’t take two steps without someone reporting back to me.”
You rolled your eyes, though you couldn’t suppress a laugh. “I figured as much. You’re like a hawk.”
“Damn right,” he said, his lips brushing against your forehead. “You’re my whole world now. You think I’m just gonna let you wander off into danger?”
“Danger?” you teased, raising an eyebrow. “I was handing out bread, not fighting Chem-Barons.”
He laughed, the sound low and rich, as he pulled you closer. “Doesn’t matter. This place has its risks, and I’m not taking any chances. You’re extremely important to me.”
Your heart swelled at his words, and you reached up to cup his face, your fingers brushing along his jawline. “I’ll be careful,” you promised, your voice soft. “For you, the boy who worries.”
“For me,” he echoed, leaning down to press a gentle kiss to your lips. “And for them.” His hand rested protectively over your stomach, his touch radiating warmth and love.
Ekko’s arms lingered around you for a moment longer before he sighed, resigned. “Fine,” he muttered, his tone light but firm. “But I’m coming with you. Not taking my eyes off you.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his protectiveness, even if it sometimes felt overbearing. “I don’t need a bodyguard, you know.”
He raised a skeptical brow. “You’re carrying our kid in Zaun. You need a whole army.”
Despite the exasperation in his words, there was no mistaking the affection in his voice. He took your basket from you, his staff resting casually on his shoulder as he fell into step beside you. “Lead the way, sweetheart,” he said, a playful edge to his tone, though you could see how his eyes darted to every shadow and figure as you moved through the streets.
You stopped occasionally to talk to people—an older man with a limp, a mother trying to soothe her crying baby, a group of kids selling hand-crafted trinkets. Each time, Ekko hung back slightly, letting you do what you did best but staying close enough that he could intervene if needed.
At one point, you crouched to hand a young girl a piece of fruit, smiling as she thanked you with wide, grateful eyes. Ekko’s gaze softened as he watched, a quiet admiration blooming on his face. This was why he fell for you. Not just your kindness but the way you carried it so effortlessly, even in a place as harsh as Zaun.
But as the day wore on, the basket grew lighter, and your steps began to slow. You passed by a rickety stall that had toppled over, its contents—a pile of salvaged wood and fabric—spilling onto the ground. Without thinking, you bent down to help the vendor gather the scattered pieces.
“Careful,” Ekko warned, his voice sharp with concern as he moved closer.
“I’m fine,” you said lightly, reaching for a particularly large plank. But as you tried to lift it, a sharp twinge shot through your back, and you let out a soft gasp, immediately straightening up.
Ekko was at your side in an instant, his hands on your shoulders. “What happened?” he asked, his voice steady, though his eyes betrayed his worry.
“Just… a twinge,” you admitted, wincing slightly. “Nothing serious.”
He didn’t look convinced. “Let me see.” Without waiting for a protest, he gently guided you to lean against a nearby wall, his hands running lightly over your back. “Does it hurt here?” he asked, pressing gently along your spine.
You winced again, and his jaw tightened. “That’s it. You’re done for the day.”
“Ekko—”
“No,” he said firmly, his hands resting on your hips as he looked you in the eye. “You’re done. You’re already doing too much. What if something worse happens? What if—”
He stopped himself, taking a deep breath to steady his voice. The panic was there, just beneath the surface, but he refused to let it show. Instead, he leaned in, pressing his forehead against yours. “I don’t like seeing you get hurt,” he said softly.
Your heart ached at the vulnerability in his words. Reaching up, you cupped his cheek, your thumb brushing against his skin. “I’m okay,” you whispered, meeting his gaze. “I promise.”
But Ekko wasn’t having it. He pulled back, taking the basket and slinging it over his shoulder. “We’re going home,” he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. “And you’re not carrying anything heavier than a pillow until this baby’s here.”
Despite the sternness of his words, his hand was impossibly gentle as it found yours, intertwining your fingers as he led you back through the streets. Along the way, he shot sharp glares at anyone who so much as looked at you the wrong way, his protective instincts kicking into overdrive.
When you finally reached the hideout you shared, he helped you settle onto the bed, fussing over every detail. He would bring you water, adjusting the pillows, even insisting on propping up your feet.
“You’re ridiculous,” you teased, though your smile betrayed how much you appreciated his care.
“Yeah, well, you love it,” he shot back, his grin softening as he sat beside you. His hand found your stomach, his thumb brushing in gentle circles. “I just want to keep you comfortable.”
“You already do,” you said, leaning into him. “More than you know.”
Ekko leaned down to kiss your forehead, his lips lingering there. “Still,” he murmured. “I’ll always do more.”
As the two of you sat there, the weight of the day finally beginning to fade, you realized just how lucky you were. To have someone like ekko be the father of your child.

it was late, the sun had just gone down and the firelights had lit a bombfire in celebration to another successful mission - or more so the fact that they hadn't lost any members of the firelights during it. As drunk firelights were eating and dancing around the big bomb fire, there was ekko - in the corner drinking from his cup and leaning on his arm, his expression neutral and unreadable. "you just plan to sit here all alone?" a familiar voice asked, making ekko look up into your soft eyes with a tired expression. "oh come on, are you really that tired?" you chuckled, pushing one of his locs out of his face to see him better as he sighed, rolling his big brown eyes.
"should I ask what's bothering you?" you asked softly, a small smirk on your face as you sat down next to him on the picnic table, your elbows resting against the table as you watched the other firelights and the bombfire. "I don't know, I just feel like there's too much to do to be celebrating like this..." he sighs, folding his arms as he turned around, facing the bombfire with his back resting against the table. "you're such a leader." you chuckled, softly looking back over at him. "you know you can relax for just one night right?"
he looked over at you, you felt his eyes look over your body before looking back up to your eyes. "you think I should relax?" He scoffed as you narrowed your eyes at him. "don't scoff at me, I'm worried about you dumbass." you said, playfully shoving his arm as he sighed, "you're right, sorry..." he trailed off, looking back up at you. "wanna get out of here?" he asked, his voice quiet and soft as he looked directly at you. something in your stomach tingled at his direct eye contact, but you didn't let it show too much. "you wanna ditch your own party?" you chuckled a bit, not taking him seriously.
he leaned his head back, some of his hair falling away from his face. "I guess so." he said, a small smirk on his lips as he looked over at you. "I just want a distraction." you bit the inside of your cheek, looking away from him and back at the fire as you were inside your own head. the truth was, you were stressed out too - just because you didn't lose any firelights doesn't mean it wasn't a dangerous and stress provoking mission. you nodded softly, "alright, let's get out of here." you said, looking back over at him, his smirk widening a little bit as he nodding, standing up with you as he led you up the stairs of the treehouse into his room.
as the door shut behind him, he took a sip of his drink, letting out a sigh as you looked over his room. it looked different than you remembered it, more papers and blueprints for firelight gadgets or hoverboard fixes scattered across his work bench and even some hung up on his wall. "you're quite the busy bee." you chuckled, softly running your hands down the papers as you looked them over. he just shrugged, "you haven't been in here in months..." he said softly, his voice getting closer behind you before you felt his hands softly slide down your waist.
you let out a soft, satisfied sigh as you leaned your head back against his shoulder, looking back over at him as his lips connected to your neck, placing small kisses on the sensitive skin. "I guess it's been a little while..." you said softly, tilting your head to the side to give him better access as you felt him smile softly against your skin, his kisses becoming more rough against your neck as he softly bit down on the flesh. you gripped his work bench as he gently pushed his body against the back of yours, his hand gripping your hip and pulling it closer to him as the other rested on your waist. he softly moved some of your hair over as he pulled his head back, admiring the red spots he left on your neck as he rubbed his thumb over them.
you gently looked back at him, watching as he smiled slightly. "I've missed you... I've missed having you like this." he said softly, gently pushing a bit of your hair behind your ear as he leaned into your lips before slowing at the last second. his lips were barely touching yours before you softly leaned in, capturing his lips softly as you brought your hand to his cheek, cupping it in your hand. he smiled into the kiss as he softly pulled you closer by the back of your head, deepening the kiss as he led you towards his bed. the back of your legs hit his bed frame, making you stop as he gently laid you down, hovering over you as he kissed you once more.
"I've missed you too..." you said softly, before kissing him again, his tongue softly pushing into your mouth as you let him. he made out with you a little bit before gently pulling back, taking the hems of his shirt and pulling it over his head, letting it fall to the floor as he softly grabbed your hand and ran your hand down his chest. you looked up at him before your eyes trailed down to his bare chest, you softly reached down to his lower hip, rubbing small circles on his flesh. he smiled down at you before leaning down and kissing on your neck once again, this time the opposite side. "you're so beautiful..." he whispered as you quietly moaned under his touch.
his body leaned down further into yours, he trailed his kisses down from your neck to your collarbone, giving small kisses before gently biting and sucking on the sensitive skin. you leaned your head back, the tingling in your leg and stomach making you squirm slightly under him. he chuckled softly, sliding his thigh between yours as he trailed his hands down, his kisses getting lower and lower on your body.
he trailed down, caressing your bare hips as he placed open mouth kisses on your flesh. he paused at the waistband of your pants, gently rubbing both your hips, "lift." he said lowly, looking up at you softly. you swallowed, nodding as you propped yourself up on your elbows and lifted your hips for him. he softly pulled your pants down, kissing your thighs and down your to your knees before pulling them completely off.
he slid down your panties and tossed them on the floor, leaning down to kiss you, his tongue pushing into your mouth gently. he continued kissing you passionately before softly pulling away and positioning himself between your legs, looking up at you with an intense and lustful gaze. he could feel your legs trembling as he hooked them over his shoulders, his hands gripping your thighs possessively. "shh, relax baby..." he smiled softly, pressing soft kisses on your pussy before dragging his tongue up your slit.
you looked down at him, your chest rising and falling as his tongue traced gentle circles around your clit before he sucked it into his mouth. he kept his eyes locked on yours, his gaze burning with hunger and affection as he devoured you slowly and thoroughly, his fingers gently spreading your lips apart to give him better access. "fuck, just like that..." you moaned softly, balling the sheets in your fist as you looked down at him.
"like this?" he whispered between gentle licks, his fingers trailing up your thighs. "such a pretty sight when you're like this..." he continued his steady pace, savoring every moment, occasionally looking up to watch your expressions. "ekko, please..." you looked down softly, holding back your moans as you bit your inner cheek. you leaned your head back, breathing heavy as your fingers tangled in the silky sheets.
he smiled softly as he saw you bite your inner cheek to hold back your moans, thinking that it was the cutest thing he'd ever seen. he hooked your legs over his shoulders, his arms wrapping around your thighs to keep you in place. "look at me," he commanded softly, his tongue delving in and out slowly. you looked down at him, your chest rising and falling as you held his lustful gaze.
he held your gaze, his own eyes burning with desire as he continued to eat you out slowly. "so fucking beautiful," he murmured, his voice muffled by your pussy. "I could look at you like this all day." he pressed a kiss to your clit before looking back up at you. you breathed heavy, a soft tingle in your stomach as he praised you. he slipped his middle finger into your pussy, your wetness making it easy as he curled it to hit that sweet spot inside you. his tongue pressing firmly against your clit and moving in small circular motions.
you swallowed as you looked down at him, your breathing heavy as your stomach tingled more than before, your chest rising and falling with every movement he made. he slipped another finger inside of you, his thumb replacing his tongue in your clit as his pace increased slightly. his fingers moved in and out while his thumb pressed firmly against your clit. "come for me, beautiful," he whispered, his warm breath against your sensitive skin. "show me how much you like it when I finger you like this..."
you tilted her head back, fighting the urge to roll your eyes back as you let out a moan, gripping the sheets tightly as you looked back down to his lustful gaze. "shit ekko, you're gonna make me cum..." she moaned softly. he looked up at you with soft and lustful eyes, mesmerized as your face contorted in pleasure. his fingers curled inside you, hitting that spot over and over until your body finally gave in. "there it is," he murmured, his fingers slowing their pace as he felt your inner walls clench around them.
you bit your lip harshly as your thighs shook and your stomach sunk in, your knuckles turned white as you gripped the sheets, moaning his name as you came.
he smirked as he continued his gentle pace, feeling satisfied and proud at being able to bring you to this state. seeing your knuckles white and lips bitten made his heart race faster. he placed tender kisses on your inner thighs as you rode out your orgasm. "that's right," he whispered, his fingers slowly withdrawing. "shhh..."
you breathed heavy as he pulled his fingers completely out, slipping them into his mouth as he licked them clean, making your stomach flutter as he crawled up to you. he kissed you passionately, his tongue pushing into your mouth as you could taste yourself on him. he kissed you deeper, his hand gently resting on your collarbone and coming up to hold your neck as your tongues slid against each other passionately.
you both parted to catch your breath as he smiled down at you, tilting your chin up to look you in the eyes. "you're so beautiful... your pleasure is my pleasure." he smiled softly, leaning down and kissing you once more as you smiled into the kiss.

(Ekko X Reader)
❥ cast : ! Ekko and reader ¡
Tumblr media
Ekko leaned against one of the worn pillars, his arms loosely crossed over his chest. The soft hum of adults talking filled the space, punctuated by bursts of laughter from the kids playing in the main area of the base.
His gaze was locked on you.
You were crouched on the floor, one of the smaller Firelights perched on your knee as you adjusted the strap of their little homemade goggles. Another kid tugged at your arm, showing you a toy glider they'd crafted from scraps, while two more were busy trying to drag you into their game of tag.
"You're really trying to take me down huh?" you teased, laughing as one of them clung to your leg. "What is this, an ambush?"
"It's working!" one of the kids shouted, their voice high with excitement.
Ekko couldn't help but smirk. He'd seen you handle yourself in some of the most dangerous situations Zaun had to offer—but here you were, letting a bunch of kids "capture" you like it was the highlight of your day. You weren't just pretending to enjoy it, he could tell by the way your eyes crinkled when you laughed, the way your voice softened when you spoke to them.
He leaned further into the shadows, content to watch for a while longer.
One of the kids pointed at him. "Hey Ekko! Why're you just standing there?"
Your eyes flicked up to meet his, a playful glint in them. "Yeah big guy...What are you doing? Afraid you'll lose if you join in?"
He pushed off the pillar, his smirk deepening. "Nah, I'm just enjoying the show."
You raised an eyebrow, your grin widening. "Oh, really? You're that entertained watching me lose to a bunch of kids?"
"Looks like you've got it handled." he said, his tone light but teasing. "Why mess with perfection?"
"Perfection?" you repeated, rolling your eyes as you stood up, one of the kids still clinging to your arm. "You've got jokes now, huh?"
"Always." he said, stepping closer.
"But seriously... you're good with them."
His voice had softened just enough to make you pause. You tilted your head at him, a small, knowing smile playing on your lips. "They make it easy."
"Not everyone would think that.." he said, glancing at the kids now chasing each other around the room. "You've got a way with them."
You shrugged, brushing off the compliment as you crouched back down to tie a loose shoelace for one of the kids. "They just need someone to pay attention, that's all."
He watched you, his expression unreadable for a moment. "You make it look like more than that."
Before you could respond, one of the kids tugged at your sleeve. "Y/N, come play!"
You laughed, standing up again. "Alright, alright!"
A smile tugged at your lips as you turned your gaze to Ekko. "Are you coming, or are you just gonna stand there looking cool?"
He rolled his eyes, the corner of his mouth quirking up. "Someone's gotta supervise. You look like you're about to trip over yourself."
"Right." you said, grinning as you backed into the chaos of the kids. "Supervise all you want Mr. But don't think I won't call you in when I need backup."
Ekko chuckled, shaking his head as he leaned back against the pillar. "I'll be here."
But his gaze never left you. Watching you laugh, watching the way the kids gravitated to you, he felt something shift in his chest. For all the weight he carried as the Firelights' leader, moments like this made him feel like maybe, just maybe, there was more to life than surviving.
He couldn't help but think that you were the best part of this little family they'd built together.

“Fireworks”
Poly!Timebomb x GN!Reader
WARNINGS:None
WORD COUNT: 561
NOTE:Established relationship. No specific timeline for this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The hideout was unusually quiet tonight. It wasn’t like Ekko or Jinx to leave you to your own devices for too long—one of them always found a way to pull you into their orbit.
But now? The Firelights were out on a mission, Ekko was preparing for his next grand plan, and Jinx… well, who knew what Jinx was doing?
You leaned back against a old crate, watching the dim light from a nearby lantern flicker. Zaun’s chaos still raged outside, but here, within the hideout, it felt almost peaceful. Until—
“Boo!”
You jumped, nearly knocking over the lantern. “Jinx!”
She was doubled over laughing, her braids swaying as she snorted uncontrollably. “You should’ve seen your face! Priceless.”
“Yeah, yeah,” you muttered, trying not to smile. “What do you want?”
Her grin widened as she plopped down next to you, smearing paint on the crate with her fingers. “What? Can’t a girl hang out with her favorite person?”
“Where’s Ekko?”
“Sulking over some gadget that isn’t working,” she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. “Boring stuff. I thought we could do something fun.”
“Define ‘fun,’” you said warily.
Her blue eyes sparkled with mischief. “Fireworks.”
“Jinx—”
Before you could protest, she grabbed your arm, pulling you to your feet. “Don’t be such a stick in the mud! It’s gonna be amazing.”
By the time you reached the rooftop, Ekko was already there, arms crossed and scowling.
“Jinx,” he started, his tone heavy with warning. “I told you there are no fireworks in the middle of the city.”
“Oh, come on!” She twirled a sparkler in her hand, the bright glow reflecting off her wild smile. “It’s just one little show. For them.”
Ekko’s eyes flicked to you, and his expression softened. You felt your heart skip a beat under his gaze, the way he looked at you, like you were the only thing in Zaun worth slowing down for, always left you breathless.
“Fine,” he sighed, running a hand over his hair. “But only if it’s safe.”
“Safe?” Jinx scoffed, lighting the sparkler with a quick flick of her wrist. “Where’s the fun in that?” She complained, dramatically throwing her arms up in the air.
The three of you ended up on the highest rooftop in the area, the perfect vantage point to light Jinx’s chaotic creations. You stood between them, watching as Jinx handed you a smaller firework, her hands brushing against yours.
“You do the honors,” she said with a wink.
“Uh, are you sure this is a good idea?” you asked, glancing nervously at Ekko.
He shrugged, a small smile tugging at his lips. “I’ll make sure nothing blows up—well, except the fireworks.”
You chuckled, feeling a warm flush creep up your neck. You trusted them both, despite their wild tendencies.
As you lit the fuse, Jinx threw her arms around your shoulders. The fireworks shot into the sky, exploding in a burst of brilliant color. Red, blue, and gold sparks rained down, lighting up the night.
Ekko leaned closer, his voice low. “Not bad, huh?”
You turned to find him watching you, not the fireworks. His gaze was soft, unguarded, and you swore the world tilted just slightly.
“Yeah,” you murmured. “Not bad at all.”
Jinx, her smile as wide as the sky. “See? Told ya it’d be fun.”
For once, you couldn’t argue.

the meeting was in full speed, everyone concentrated while ekko was stood in front of a wide table that was filled with members of the firelights.
ekko was directing the protocols for their work, pointing at writings on the chalkboard with a small piece of white chalk in his hand. he was calm and collected, but the members of the firelights can tell he was also determined for these upcoming events to go well.
“alright so, instead of having us go through with our earlier plan, what if-“ a knock on the conference room door has cut off his question, his head turning towards the sound to see your head poked through the door.
you stared at ekko for a moment, realizing that he was in a busy position as you glanced over at the firelights sat around a table. “am i interrupting?” you mumbled to ekko quietly, feeling slightly guilty at the fact that you interfered his meeting.
ekko’s face softened slightly at the sight of you, a small smile plastering on his face as he glanced between the firelights sat around the table and you. “uh, no you’re not.” he said to you, knowing damn well he was in an important meeting at the moment. he placed the piece of chalk down on one of the stands before taking a few steps closer to you, his face stretched in slight worry. “is everything alright babe?”
you shook your head, entering the room slowly and slowly making your way towards him. “oh everythings great, i just wanted to pop by and check out what was happening.” you spoke, your voice quiet so the others around you couldn’t listen in.
ekko let out a small sigh, nodding at your words while he stood close to you. “okay,” he mumbled to you quietly, his hand going over to hold yours gently, not caring if anyone else saw. “i’m guessing you’re going back home now?” he asked quietly, rubbing his thumb against the knuckles of your hand.
you felt his hand in yours, gently squeezing it as you nodded, your gaze flickering between each of his eyes. you had always found him and his eyes mesmerizing to stare at, it’s like you were sucked in and you didn’t wanna leave. “yeah just,” you paused, thinking for a moment before you opened your mouth to speak. “just don’t stay out here too late, okay?” you mumbled to ekko quietly, worry hitched into your voice.
ekko then nodded at your words, squeezing your hand back as he gazed into your eyes. “i will, don’t worry y/n.” he told you softly, still rubbing his thumb on your knuckles.
you smiled softly at his answer, nodding your head once. you reluctantly let go of his hand, leaning closer and placing your lips on his cheek. “okay..” you mumbled him while you pulled away, grinning at him before taking a few steps away. “bye honey.” you said, turning around and making your way towards the door, exiting the meeting room.
ekkos eyes widened for a moment at your action, feeling the softness of your lips on his cheek. he tried to let his hand linger on yours for a moment, but then hesitantly letting you go as he watched you leave. he couldn’t help but smile, completely forgetting about the meeting he was in until he heard a small chuckle.
he whipped his head to the sound, hiding his smile as his noticed scar trying to hide his laughter. ekko let out a small sigh, walking back towards the chalkboard as he spoke. “give it up guys.” he grumbled, picking up the piece of chalk and starting back where he left off.

Ekko wasn’t expecting this at all.
He wasn’t expecting the soft sound of your footsteps behind him as he tinkered with his latest project. His focus solely on the delicate machine in front of him. He wasn’t expecting the sudden hush in the air, a shift that made him look up from his work. His brow furrowed slightly as he met your eyes. You stood in the doorway, holding a delicate bouquet of flowers. They bright, vibrant, and impossibly beautiful. You were grinning like you were hiding a secret, and Ekko blinked in surprise.
“Uh... What’s this?” he asked, glancing between you and the bouquet, his voice still lingering with confusion.
You stepped forward, your smile widening as you gently held the flowers out to him. He hesitated for a moment, not sure if he was supposed to take them. But there was something in your eyes that made him reach out.
“Just because,” you said softly, your voice carrying that warm, comforting cadence that always made his heart skip a beat. “No reason at all. I thought you’d like them.”
Ekko blinked again, but this time, his expression softened. He glanced down at the flowers in his hands. They consisted of lilies, daisies, and something bright purple that looked almost like wildflowers. The colors were so vibrant, they looked like they were bursting with life. It wasn’t just that they were beautiful; it was the thought behind them that had him feeling a little overwhelmed.
“I—I don’t really get flowers,” he admitted quietly, a little self-conscious about the whole situation. “I mean, I usually see people giving them to... well, to girls. Not so much to guys.”
You chuckled at that, the sound like music to his ears. “And I’m not a girl?” you teased, winking at him as you slid onto the workbench beside him, your hands resting casually on the edge.
Ekko shook his head in amusement but couldn’t suppress a smile. “Yeah, you’re not,” he agreed, his fingers still wrapped gently around the stems of the bouquet. “But... why flowers, though? I mean, it’s not like I did anything to deserve them.”
“You’re why,” you said softly, turning slightly to meet his eyes. “I thought you could use a little brightness today. You work so hard all the time, and I just wanted to remind you that you’re appreciated. No special occasion. Just... because.”
Ekko’s smile softened as your words sank in, the sincerity behind them hitting him like a wave. He’d always been the one to show his affection through actions. Building and fixing things, helping others, however hearing you say those simple words meant so much more than he expected.
“Well, damn,” he said after a moment, his voice rough with emotion. He took a deep breath, looking down at the flowers again. “I wasn’t expecting that. But... thank you. Really.”
You grinned again, happy that you’d made him smile. “You’re welcome, Ekko. It’s no big deal. I just thought you might like them.”
There was a pause as Ekko took in the beauty of the flowers, his thumb brushing against one of the petals as if he were processing the gesture. Then, he looked back at you, his expression thoughtful.
“I mean, if I’m honest... I wasn’t really expecting to get anything like this, especially not from you,” he admitted, still holding the bouquet with reverence. “You’re always so... I don’t know, strong. Like you don’t need things like this.”
You raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile pulling at your lips. “Are you saying I’m too tough for flowers, Ekko?”
He smirked, but there was something soft in his eyes. “Nah. You’re just... not the type to do things like this. It’s nice, though. Really nice.”
“I just wanted to surprise you,” you said with a shrug, your voice soft and genuine. “I don’t always have to be the one to receive surprises, you know? Sometimes I like seeing the way your face lights up when you’re surprised. It makes it 100% worth it.”
Ekko’s heart gave a little flutter at that, the way you were looking at him making him feel a warmth he couldn’t quite explain. It wasn’t just the flowers. It was how you knew him. How you understood him in a way that no one else really did. The vulnerability in your gesture made something stir within him. He placed the bouquet gently down on the table beside them, then took a step closer to you, his eyes never leaving yours. He wasn’t sure what he was doing at first, but the words came anyway.
“Well... thank you,” he said again, but this time, it was softer, more intimate. “I... really appreciate it.”
Before you could respond, Ekko reached out and gently cupped your face in his hands. The movement was slow, like he was unsure of what exactly he wanted to say next.
“You’re more than just the person who surprises me with flowers,” he continued quietly. “You’re the one who makes me feel like I can take on the world, even when it feels like I’m losing. I just... I don’t know how you do it. But I’m really lucky to have you around.”
Your breath caught in your chest, caught off guard by how open he was being. The way Ekko usually expressed himself was more through actions than words, and hearing him be so vulnerable. It made your heart ache in the best way.
“Aww...” you whispered, your hand reaching up to rest gently against his wrist. “You’re more than enough. I’m lucky to have you too.”
He smiled then, soft and almost shy, as he leaned in a little closer, his forehead touching yours for just a brief moment. The world around you faded into the background, the scent of the flowers, and for a second, everything felt perfect.
You pulled back slightly, still grinning, but this time, there was a playful glint in your eyes. “So,” you said, your voice light, “what are you going to do with them?”
Ekko raised an eyebrow, his playful smirk returning. “Well, I think I should probably put them in water before they die, don’t you think?”
You laughed, nodding enthusiastically. “I think that’s a good start.”
He chuckled, giving you a quick wink as he grabbed a nearby empty glass and began carefully arranging the flowers inside, though the whole time, his mind was still reeling from your gesture. It wasn’t just about the flowers—it was about you, and how you always seemed to know just what he needed, even when he didn’t.
As he turned back toward you, holding the flowers carefully in his hands, you could see how much the little surprise had meant to him. His usual carefree confidence had been replaced with softer ambiance. He was quieter now, more contemplative, but still smiling.
“You’ve really got a way of making everything better, you know that?” he said softly.
You couldn’t help but smile back, your heart fluttering in your chest. “I’m glad. I like making you smile.”
Ekko looked down at the flowers again, then met your gaze, his expression full of warmth. “Well, mission accomplished.”
You leaned forward, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek, a silent thank-you for everything. You knew that this little gesture was just a small thing, but for Ekko, it was the kind of moment he would carry with him, a reminder that sometimes, even the smallest surprises could change everything.
