- jean is a workaholic. its a very well known fact - he cares alot about what he does and has questioned every decision and influenced his life because of it. sometimes he lets it take control of his head more than he'd like to admit, which means even when he's with you, hes at work. hell, he's even more at work when he's with you because he's just reminded why he's doing what he's doing, especially because he literally met you with you being a witness to a mild crime. which leads me to the scenario - even during dates, specially planned nights where you had cleared your schedule for him, even one word can set his mind off of possible solutions to an unsolved crime. imagine how jake hears one word and immediately connects the dots to something despite it having no context whatsoever to the conversation at hand. it is endearing most times, but sometimes you just want to wind down and have him not run off to the precinct while sharing a meal together, in the middle of the sentence just to solve something. and sometimes (most times) you don't even get to know his whereabouts until the next night. sometimes it makes you feel forgotten, like something jean only uses as a distraction and you know he doesnt mean to, obviously, but it hurts you especially if you're in the middle of telling him about something you're passionate about.

- and when you talk about this with him, tell him how it makes you feel, ofcourse he apologizes VERY sincerely. a few tears are shed but only a week later jean feels worse because you're telling him about your day excitedly over some Chinese takeout and he listens to you tell him about this funny inside joke/bit your coworkers had and it sends a pang through his chest because he can never give that to you. he can barely give you all the time you deserved to have no matter how much he wanted to and he loved you so much and it just reminded him about how, when you're talking about your own work shenanigans, jean can't help but think that he's not going to give you the easygoing life you would've wanted

- speaking of!!! ur also not ready for just how many injuries he gets while on the job. he's a little pissbaby about it and if it's an unserious injury like idk a bruise or smth, he'll be very pouty about it will clickbait you into giving him more affection. "wouldn't you give your brave, strong, city-saving boyfriend a kiss. on the lips. with tong-" ok jean. he doesn't need to ask

but that also means that he gets more serious injuries that he has had to learn to deal with. he gets shot in the shoulder during a crime bust and it hurts so much but he doesn't want to tell you because ofcourse you'd be worried and he just didn't want to be a burden to you - even if you'd argue otherwise. especially since you'd just gotten a promotion and were going through a transition phase with all the work that you had now, with all the decisions you had the power to make; it was taking a toll on you, and he didn't want to add to that. but ofc Sasha and Connie (and marco, because he knew jean wouldn't tell you) called you right after he got patched up and was recovering in the hospital and you ofcourse immediately dropped everything and rushed to him which jean was dreading and he was being kinda,,, snippy with you. like you were asking questions to the doc about how to aid with the recovery and jean hated how you were dragged into his mess now. this was on him - he was an experienced detective and yes, he should've known better and not gone after the crime ring by himself, and he was also a grown man who could (who should) take care of himself and now you're gonna be stuck having to be alert and overworked and he hated it. on the drive home - you knew better than to ask why or how he even got shot in the first place, he'd tell you later anyway - you asked him how he was feeling, if there was anything you could do for him, if he wanted something specific and special to eat for dinner, "I can make your mom's omelet recipie-" "don't you have work?" and that kind of. stung you because you thought he supported you and your progress @ work and now he was...mad about it? "i mean, I can take a small break." "but you just got the promotion." "and you just got shot." ... "i can take care of myself." he says. "i know that. but I want to take care of you." "you didn't sign up for this." "i know exactly what I signed up for." and you stop at the red light, "I'm just glad you're still...here and not bleeding out in some -" you inhale, your breath hitching, "dark alleyway." and jean felt so stupid because he was just thinking about you having to take care of him, but he didn't think about how scary the call must've been - to know that your significant other had a bullet pierce through them, not knowing their whereabouts until after everything was said and done, having the realisation that you couldnt do anything to help them. the more jean thought about it, sitting in the silence in the rest of the ride home, the worse he felt because if he had been in your position, he would be crying and furious and you were doing none of those things because you had to stay calm because you knew if you freaked out then he'd also freak out.

anyway, the two weeks he had to recover after that were hard to adjust to - he wasn't used to someone caring this deeply for him - and also because he had temporarily lost mobility in his left arm and also because he had seen you cry for the first time since you'd gotten together. after getting back home from the hospital, you set up his bed so he could be comfortable, putting a pillow under his shoulder as he sat against the bedrest. jean heard you down the hall, calling in to work telling them about a "family emergency" and then called his mother to ask her about her soup recipie, not elaborating on his injury (something he thanked you for later, he loved his mother but he wasn't in the mental space to deal with the questions for now) and got to work, coming back into the room to put a show on for jean so he could be distracted while you cooked. but before you could leave, he grabbed your wrist and looked at you for a good three seconds before you started crying. told him that you were sorry, this shouldn't be about you, but he shushed you and apologized to you, "I should be the one to say sorry." you sniffled, "you're the one thats hurt" and then he says your name so gently that it makes your heart squeeze in your chest, "you're also hurt. and I'm sorry I caused that." "shut up. i know you were probably doing what was right." ... "i do it for you. you remind me why I want to keep people safe. and I got reckless." ... "the doctor - he said that the bullet was only a little ways away fron your heart." he kisses your forehead. "i don't know what I'd do if I lost you." you confess, whispering into his right shoulder. he burries his nose in your hair, "you not going to lose me. I'll make sure of it. i promise."

- ANYWAY. you think that was bad? well I've got something worse :3

he breaks up w you. for an undercover mission, but you're not supposed to know that, obviously. after a minor crime circle bust with eren, the two of them find out that it's actually a part of a much bigger plan that they had. they were called into the captain's office after it, only to find miche there as well. they explain the plan to them - they'll infiltrate the circle from the inside after being fake-fired from the force, both seperate from each other and get into the ring from different sources (haven't thought about the exact details for it yet but soemthing adjacent to jake with that italian mafia ring undercover mission thingie). and jean was fucking estatic because this was something he had been working towards for essentially his whole career, right, and it could potentially be dangerous but if by the end of it, one of the major threats to the city would be eliminated. but then miche and the captain told them that they'd have to cut ties with everyone they know currently - even their parents and family - his mind immediately went to you. because how could he live without you? how could he even pretend to have to break your heart just to come back (if he even would). just the thought of it absolutely crushed him, but then he was presented with the choice of an out. that he could choose this case if he wanted to. granted, if he (and Yeager) were to step down, any other detectives assigned for this would have a higher probability of screwing up since they weren't the ones that had to solve the case from the beginning. they wouldn't know the inner workings like jean and eren did. eren was a 100% on board with it, ofc, because why wouldnt he be but jean hesitated a lot more. miche and the captain gave him the whole night to think about it before the plan would come to effect by the next night which meant than jean had to make up his mind quick because it was already sundown.

as he parked his bike near your apartment, he had made up his mind. ok for this I really need u to Imagine This, okay, because. cinematic effect.

as mentioned in a previous post, you try not to call him as much because you know that he probably won't pick up and you didn't want to disturb him if he was In The Zone, so you'd usually just send him a long voice note rather than just not talk to him. so you had sent him a voice note a couple hours before he left. and the message is playing in his head while he walks to your apartment, taking the stairs up to your door, and he knows that one of the things you loved most about him was his passion. his drive had reasoning and he stood behind what he thought was right, while also knowing that there were more complexities than just good or bad. and he knew that you'd also support him unconditionally, knowing what exactly he did what he did for, knowing that he didn't want to be a noble hero but because he wanted to let the kids on the streets be able to go home to their parents safely, that they knew that there were authorities out there that they could trust to help them. he knew that he did this for you - he wanted you to walk home at night, safe and sound.

"hey, love. I'm making some ramen right now, I wish I had some mushrooms. i saw this guy put, like, a whole ice cream in his soup. i dunno, it sounds like it'll be bad but...maybe the sweet and spicy will be good? I'm not gonna do that right now. that reminds me, I need more ice cream in my freezer. anyway, I hope you're doing okay. i hope you're being safe. no bullet wounds anywhere near you, please. don't want you to come back with one more hole in your body. uhm, yeah. I'm making extra for you. i love you." your voice note says, and jean runs a hand through his hair before knocking on your door despite having your keys.

you open the door, your unsure expression melting into a relieved one. "you're back," you say, opening the door wider for him to enter, noticing the expression on his face. he's looking anywhere but your eyes and you know something's wrong because his shoulders are stiff.

"everything okay? you look constipated." you ask, cracking a smile to relax him, only to cause him to hurt more.

"we need to talk." he says, and your entire face falls. after a couple beats of silence, you nod slowly, inviting him to sit on your small couch. he sits at the edge of it like he's afraid of getting too close to you. (maybe he is) and then he drops the bomb, "we need to break up."

"...what?" you ask. jean isn't looking at you, his eyes focused on his hands on his lap, but he doesn't miss how your voice wavers a little.

he sighs. "yeah."

"why? i mean, I'm sure if theres something bothering you, we can fix it." you say, shifting closer to him, the both of you having to pretend that your heart wasn't actually sawing itself in half right now, and you continue when jean doesn't say anything, "if it's about work, I mean, we can...I can make more time. we can both tr-"

"no. it's not something we can fix. i just..." he trails off, and commits the mistake of looking at your face because then he starts to panick about not being able to see you again, about the fact that your eyes are starting to tear up again, and we all know how jean gets when he panics. "i don't love you anymore." he says. you shift back as if he threw something at you which he might as well have.

uh haha. yeah. anyway. so that's that. and then he doesn't come back for like 4 more months and you distract urself by working to the bone. Connie and Sasha check up on you periodically and since neither of them know why jean broke up with you and how it coincidentally happened right before he also got fired (jean would argue that he quit, but he wasn't here to do so). anyway. despite the fact that the place has memories of you and jean, you still visit the precinct for Connie and sash, bring everyone (mostly sasha) some sweet treats on your way there.

it's one of the days you're spending your lunch there, that the captain comes out of his office and announces a squad meeting. you get ready to get out of there because ofcourse you're not supposed to hear this, but Levi stops you, saying that you can stay - that it's better that you stay. and then he breaks the news to everyone about how eren (Mikasa gasps at the news, btw, which is more emotion than you've seen her have after eren was "fired") and jean had never been fired or quit but were on an undercover mission, blah blah, and there's a "hes right behind me isn't he...." moment where jean and eren just. walk in. and ofcourse your eyes lock as Mikasa and Armin huddle close to eren, Connie, sasha and marco doing the same to jean and you just stand there because you don't know if he's moved on. even if he did break up with you because of a mission, there was a big possibility, to you, that he'd moved on after four months of not seeing you. and you walk to him, hesitating, after the three of them are done with their ambush, and he looks at you, waiting for you to run to him. but when u dont, he thinks about how the worst of his doubts may just be confirmed - that you moved on, found somebody new. (SLIGHTEST miscommunication. gets solved in like 3 seconds bare w me)

but you haven't. and he hasnt. and it's so obvious because you've still kept his sweater at your place, because he's had your picture In his wallet, hidden under some cards. but the two of you are oblivious to it, and you ask, "no extra holes, right?" referring to before, and he smiles softly, shrugging, "just the ones that I already had." to which you nod with a small smile of your own. you two just look at eachother for a moment (everyone's. looking at the two of u btw. waiting for u to kiss. esp Connie who's resisting the urge to chant "kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss") and you're just like WELL, TIME TO GO TO WORK LOL. and leave. and then he's just standing there, frozen, a hand on his heart as you make your way down trying not to SOB and everyone's just like. what the fuck r u doing GO AFTER THEM and he's like???? whats that gonna do they've probably moved on. and then sasha slaps him after which Connie shakes jeans shoulders, and everyone shouting at him, telling him he's stupid and he's just like "OK LET ME GO AFTER THEM THEN FUCKING CHRIST"

AND HE DOES and oooo it's raining and ok imagine the scene in idk which season but the time when captain Holt and Kevin had that whole confession in the rain thing but with you and jean. you don't have an umbrella and just step out into the rain because you just don't want to Be Here right now and you're starting to run, but then jean grabs your wrist and tells you to stop. he asks you if you've moved on and you say "ofcourse not are u stupid u just left me fucking hanging, out of nowhere, and I know you were doing it for a mission and I know we couldn't have prevented it but it hurt, jean and-" "I know I'm so sorry you're so beautiful I missed you so much" he shouts and as you're arguing talking with eachother, you're stepping closer and closer to him and he's stepping closer and closer to you and there's no distance between you and you're rambling now, telling him "do u realise how many texts I sent you do u know how much I love you. r u stupid you thought I would move o-" "I thought about you every night and I - you should ask Yeager - couldn't stop thinking about you every single moment of every single day and-" "you're so stupid, jean-" "i just love you so much being without you was HELL" and now your mouths are near eachother.

and then everyone is standing near the windows and trying to shout over the rain but the only voice that can reach the two of you is reiners who cups a hand over his mouth and says "KISS ALREADY"

and your arguing stops, glancing at him through the rain, and then looking back at eachother (what were you arguing about again?) and you laugh and then he laughs and holds your cheeks, not letting go as he kisses you.

uhm. yeah. haha. anyway this was more hurt/comfort than actual angst but anyway!!!

She first learned about your existence from General Yueyu. Some creation made years ago that was given the title of ‘ultimate life form’

A creation made to perfectly counter all abominations on the xianzhou, someone so powerful it would take an aeon or two too defeat. Or so she said.

To say little feixiao was interested was a major understatement. If this were true, where were you? What ship were you in? Why hasn’t she heard of you anywhere else?

When she asked yueyu this, the general had a face of regret and sadness, before saying the information was classified.

Years later, she met you, the fabled ‘ultimate life form’ was an enemy of the xianzhou. She couldn’t believe it, Yueyu spoke so highly of you, so why’re you an enemy?

And just like general Yueyu said, you were STRONG. Hell, possibly the strongest being in the entire xianzhou and universe.

But, as a general, it was her duty to stop you. So you two fight, and she gets utterly defeated. She’d never known defeat like this, power like yours. Just WHAT were you?

For the next days, every general and the astral express crew, even the marshal of the xianzhou had confronted to stop you, all the generals were forced to play a supporting role, as the marshal was the only one able to deal damage to you.

However, it didn’t matter, your plan had been successful. Inputting 7 ancient gems into the core of the xianzhou and causing it to self destruct while having some biological monster protecting it.

Feixiao couldn’t believe YOU were meant to be the great savior Yueyu talked so highly about. But then, once the gems were entered, a video began to play on everything and anything that had a screen, reveling the dark truth.

Your creator was betrayed, his granddaughter killed by the xianzhou military! And the marshal herself being the one who betrayed the great doctor. Showing long lost and thought to be destroyed footage of the dark incident Hundreds if not thousands of years ago. (Not doing the 50 years ago, cause why not)

It was at the point everyone lost hope. The marshal herself was a traitor to one of the greatest scientists and ally to the xianzhou, even the generals will were shaken. And the astral express couldn’t help but feel sorrow for you.

But, with a powerful speech from the marshal, everyone’s will and hope were restored and the generals, the nameless, large almost unending numbers of cloud knights, and the marshal went down to stop you.

But, the bio-lizard got in their way. It would see its creators plan through the very end. It was a monster, all cloud knights were flies it swatted dead, the generals focusing all their strength to defeat the lizard.

Only feixiao and the marshal were able to get past the impossibly defense of the lizard, who was luckily for them, to distracted to notice. The two ran down the hallway and saw you, watching the fight through a holographic screen.

Feixiao tried to move towards you, but the marshal stopped her before taking a piece of fallen debris and throwing it towards you, seeing an invisible death shield surrounding you.

Marshal: M/n!! Stop this madness!!

M/n:…you’ve got some nerve. To betray my creator, get Maria killed! And lock me away for years upon years!!

Feixiao: Tsk…! M/n, we need you! Please help us!

Feixiao blurted out, much to the shock of the marshal and m/n.

Feixiao: You were made to be the strongest force for the xianzhou!! Why are you so intent on destroying it!!

M/n:….Doesn’t matter. It's all going according to plan. There's no reason for me to help them. Besides, there's no way to save anyone. All of them are unsaveable, pathetic, and childish. Only then will the marshal feel the consequences of her betrayal!

Feixiao: Forget the marshal! Hate her all you want, but not the people of the xianzhou! There innocent! Was this maria’s last wish!? For you to become the enemy! Hated, feared, a boogeyman!?

Marshal:….I know what I’ve done to you is unforgivable. I know that you’ll never forgive me. Even if you kill me, you’ll never forgive me. But the people of the Xianzhou are innocent. I know that people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish, like the professor said... but they're good, if they try their best and never give up on their wishes. They always have a reason to be happy; that's why you should help them out! Saving them is a good thing! M/n, I beg you, please do it for them! Give them a chance!

The marshal pleaded, bowing to you much to the shock of feixiao. To see the marshal like this was almost… fictionally impossible. However, Feixiao’s words seemed to strike you, as you remembered Maria’s true last words.

M/n:….Maria….

You said as the marshal and feixiao looked up seeing a horrified and saddened realization dawn on you, a single tear falling down from your face, before you forcibly ripped out one of the ancient gems.

M/n: I…I have to stop this! I have to keep my promise to her!!

You declared before using your monstrous strength to rip out all the emeralds and jump down from the platform, running towards the biolizard.

The biolizard stopped its killing blow on Yanqing and March as it felt a shift. Something had changed, the xianzhou wasn’t shaking… you had betrayed your creator!!

The biolizard released a horrific shriek of rage, shaking the very soul of everyone who heard it. The lizard turned to see you running towards it with the chaos emeralds, as you focused on your sadness, Maria, the professor, and your promise to her—turning super.

Everyone could only watch as the lizard and you fought, each impact shaking the universe itself. A beautiful spectacle infront of them as your speed and strength left them in awe, wondering if your power could rival that of the aeons.

Eventually, the lizard couldn’t contain its rage nor its own existence as you ripped off the machinery that kept it alive, as it expanded, ready to nuke this whole stellar system. But, you saved them, using chaos control to teleport yourself and the lizard away, FAR away. Managing to somehow teleport it to IX itself, having the lizard be swallowed whole by the black hole of the end as it released its final explosion of energy.

—Okay now that the story is over, let’s get to the point of this request—

Your body was blasted away as IX swallowed the biolizard, killing it as its explosion blasted you away. Your body crashed through multiple planets, destroying the rock and any life forms on it before it crashed down onto the xianzhou’s outer ship.

The ship shook and spun horizontally 5 times before stopping. Everyone was confused at what could’ve cause this. The marshal went outside and saw you. You were still alive! After 50 years!?

She took you in and decided to keep your existence a secret for now. She cared for your body until you awoke. After punching the marshal in the face, she began to fill you in on everything that happened after the Great War with you 50 years ago.

Although you’d never forgive her, you needed to keep your promise to Maria. So, you tell her your joining the cloud knights, not to serve her, but to keep maria’s promise.

She agreed and asked what ship you wanted to join. You remembered that foxian/borisin general. Being the first general you fought, and being…unique, you wanted her ship.

Feixiao was then informed of this which shocked her. But, surprisingly, she accepted with what seemed like… joy? Nevertheless, you ran to the yaoqing and met her at the cloud knights headquarters, where she greeted you with friendliness.

Feixiao would have you on the four front of battles, leading a platoon, but you declined. You refused to work with anyone and you would only work alone.

Feixiao felt a little pang hit her but agreed. You were strong enough anyway, so she allowed it. And over the years, she grew close to you.

The battles and bloodshed you two would spill from the borisin was beautiful, watching as your guard slowly but surely lowered around her, seeing you smile only to her made her feel special.

She keeps you as close as she can. Letting you sleep in her house and bed, cooking for you and even wanting to bathe you. Daily trainings with you at the gym, along with hundreds of spars and competitions a day.

To feixiao, you two were already in a relationship. After all you lived together! And you only smiled at her! Of course you loved her back…!

And since you’re completely distrustful of everyone else, the thought of someone stealing you away was laughable and fictional. It’ll never happen.

So, feixiao never overreacts when someone ogles at you or tries to get close to you. Cause 10/10 times, you’d just teleport away from the area.

Kafka

Kafka heard of you from Elio. Apparently you’re supposed to join the stellaron hunters as its final member.

With the help of Sam, she used her webs to catch you and Sam used his mech suit to slow your pace. Simply trying to stop you from falling took all her strength along with firefly’s mecha suit, which made her even more curious about you.

They’d take you back to their little hideout and nurture you until you wake up. Which would only be a month. You wake up and look around, not recognizing the area around you.

Kafka is there though, and she introduces herself to you, along with the entire deal with the ‘stellaron hunters’

Seeing as it was apparently ‘destiny’ that they saved you, and that this would possibly be the best way to up hold your promise, you accept their invitation.

You go on missions and learn about what’s changed in the cosmos since the battle at the xianzhou. Apparently a lot has changed, but none that you care about.

Kafka slowly begins to become infatuated with you, you were just so adorable. The ‘loner’ demeanor of yours that hid the cutie you were was so addicting to her.

She ain’t afraid to show it. She’s blunt with her desires and romantic at the same time. Oh how your adorable face lights up with a blush due to your emotional inexperience~

Kafka LOVES to dress you up and do your hair. Also, she sleeps in your room with you. She knows you love it despite your cute little struggles.

On missions, kafka takes the time to rub her thighs and tits against you, to show everyone exactly who you belong to.

Kafka likes to puppet you closer to her, making you sit on her lap and bringing you in for a HEAAATED 1 hour make out session. Purposefully leaving lipstick on your lips, chin, jawline, and neck.

Robin

Robin like everyone else, had heard of you. How your power was rumored to rival that of the aeons. At first, she couldn’t believe it, someone so strong existing as a mortal? No way, right?

But then she saw you at the main lobby of penacony. Your appearance matched to what she heard of you, down to your hairstyle and the small details of your clothes.

She was amazed by your beauty, and the fact that you were real. She approached you with Sunday, who had his own interest in you.

You blew them off, not interested in some pop star and her brother. They were slightly put off but decided to chase you, still having some questions of their own.

Inside the actual penacony, robin acts as your tour guide. She doesn’t try to dig into your life, as it’s none of her business. But she does want to stick around you.

Your whole dynamic is her wanting to stick around you, and you trying to get away. Let’s skip to when you two eventually get close enough for others to consider you to in a relationship.

Robin is clingy but will let go of you if you ask, and you never ask her to let go as you don’t want to hurt her feelings.

Sunday, much to his dismay, uses robin to get you closer to him and the family’s goal. He plans to use you to successfully enact his plans.

But, you’re extremely distrustful of him and the family. Something about them is just, off. Sunday and the family grow increasingly annoyed at your intuition.

So, they decide to take you by force. They try to use a smaller type of the Harmonious Choir to make you submit. But you easily destroy the mission and go to kill Sunday, only for Robin to step in, begging you to not hurt her brother.

Your eyes grow feral, robin…. How could you be so stupid!? She was in on this! So, you punch her into her brother, spitting on them and declaring them pathetic and a blight of Xipe before leaving forever.

Robin desperately tried to stop you, make you stay with her, but it was no use. Your mind was made up and you couldn’t care less about penacony, Sunday, the family, or robin.

So with one more punch, you leave penacony forever, and Sunday runs to his sister cursing at himself for his failure and for getting his sister hurt.

Robin wasn’t able to be herself for a full month. How could she? The person she loved had left her and hurt her! And her brother was a catalyst to that.

Sunday desperately tries to make it up to robin, but she just can’t bring herself to forgive him. Why did he try that? Why did her hurt YOU. And she hates herself for it.

She helps you with your trauma while making you more reliant on her. Making you face your trauma in a healthy manner while also manipulating your memories and putting some memories that never happened into your head.

Such as you two going on dates, playing some games, cuddling. Little did you know, she’d cuddle you everytime you went to sleep.

These memories make you ease up to her much quicker, just as she predicted. She holds you close and hums a lullaby for you, while playing with your hair like Maria did.

Abyss Monarch/Octopus x electric eel

Got another one done today, this is Firefly Squid Cookie

I was gonna say that this one was the first to have a “new” character at the time, aka one that only existed after I started, but no, apparently that honor goes to the request for Scorpion/Prune Juice

Though interestingly enough you can tell that this was from the beginning of the Wandercrab update because the anon isn’t sure whether the name is Abyss Monarch or Octopus, since we weren’t really sure the name situation until the second half. I also vaguely recall saying this anon had foresight since this was before abysseel blew up

Anyways sorry, let’s get into Firefly Squid herself now

So Firefly here works as the lighthouse keeper in Wandercrab, as well as generally just checking to make sure the lights work. She has a particular affinity for light, possibly due to her own bioluminescence

She’s generally a very chill lady, someone you can just talk to about your struggles while she patiently listens and gives you advice. Plenty of residents go up to her while on the job (since that’s what she’s usually doing) to do just that. She’s not one of particular high energy though, choosing to spend her off time either relaxing over a drink or taking naps

However, you should never try to approach her when there’s a particular absence of light. You may see something you’d rather wish you hadn’t…

Anyways, now let’s discuss design

So Firefly Squid’s name comes from the firefly squid itself, which I got as a suggestion. It’s a cephalopod like Abyss Monarch, and it glows like Electric Eel (or at least the Cookie himself). I also learned today that it’s apparently edible, so I guess it fits in even more with being living food

The original name I was going to use was Blue Ring, named after the blue ringed octopus, because octopus, as well as yellow and being incredibly venomous. But I got the suggestion Firefly Squid and I ended up really liking it, so I switched over

Firefly squid:

I’m especially noticing now, she looks a LOT like Abyss Monarch and not much like Electric Eel. My bad I guess. If I ever make a second one (though I don’t know how likely that is since Electric Eel fankids tend to have a VERY limited available list), I’ll make that one look a lot like Eel

She originally had hair that was more zigzaggy, but it didn’t look right to me and I eventually changed it, and now it’s almost entirely Abyss Monarch. I did at least try to make the gradient lighter at the bottom more like EE and have the yellow of the tentacles be from his yellow, but it’s not that noticeable

Her hair was also red for most of the coloring process, since that was the color I could find firefly squids

I did eventually decide to change the colors, since Abyss Monarch and Electric Eel don’t necessarily adhere to the colors of their respective animals, but I still ended up going mostly blue. I did try to hue shift it to a more purplish blue though

I was kind of just messing around with her design. I’m not really even sure what that pattern on her pants is. Yeah it looks like just a pants design, but I only decided that at the end and the shape is on the same layer as the rest of the lineart, so that was a lot of fun trying to color so it doesn’t look like that

I also feel like relatively, she looks pretty normal compared to her parents. Other than her glowing rings on her hair she doesn’t really have much going on in her design, or at least nothing out of the ordinary. She just looks normal. That’s kind of why I added the eye thing on the sketch, to maybe imply that there’s more going on with her, but that’s probably more like an in post fix

I know I spent most of this design section complaining, and while on some level, her design has issues, when I look at it without thinking about them, I really do like how she turned out

But at the end of the episode tommy reassures him and it goes great. Maybe I’m just rambling non sense here idk, I just thought of it lol

hey sorry for the wait! this is sort of a loaded question which you will get a lot of different answers to. however, we are an openly trans system irl (transneumasc) and have been socially transitioning/transitioned for about 4 years now, so our opinions aren't just out of thin air lmao

we very much believe that afab systems can have transfem alters and amab systems can have transmasc alters. while an internal mtf identity may be different that someone who is amab mtf, i don't believe that being transgender should be or is based on bodily sex! (this is different with intersex, i think, since that is very much a body thing. we're not intersex, so feel free to correct me). some people might get pissy at you for having that alter identifying as transfem in an afab body, so it's up to you whether you'd want to specify that you're not "bodily" transfem or not. you're absolutely under no obligation to justify your identity to random people, though!

our sort of thought is that amab systems can have cis female alters and afab systems can have cis male alters- so deciding to gatekeep alter identities based on sex, *only* when talking about trans issues, feels hypocritical at best. if it feels uncomfortable for her (your headmate) to say she's transfem, she can always just say "system transfem" or something adjacent

if other people give your system shit for this, just know we think it's stupid discourse and you should do whatever you want forever (as long as you're not hurting anyone, which you're not lmao)
