Calgary City Hall and Calgary Municipal Building (No. 2)
Calgary City Hall (often called Old City Hall or Historic City Hall), is the seat of government for Calgary City Council, located in the city's downtown core of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The historic building completed in 1911 serves as the offices for Calgary City Council, consisting of the office of the Mayor, fourteen Councillors and municipal Clerk. Calgary City Hall originally housed the municipal council and portions of administration from its completion in 1911 until the construction of the Calgary Municipal Building adjacent to Old City Hall in 1985, which currently houses the offices of 2,000 civic administrators.
Calgary City Hall is designated a National Historic Sites of Canada, as well as a Provincial Historical Resource, and Municipal Historical Resource.
Calgary City Hall was designed by architect William M. Dodd to reflect Calgary's role as the urban centre in Southern Alberta. Dodd was known partnering with Edward Collis Hopkins to design Regina City Hall (which was demolished in 1965), along with his other designs in Calgary caught the attention of Calgary City Council. Dodd designed the building to embody Richardsonian Romanesque architectural style, with a symmetrical form with an elevated main floor, and includes a single clock tower with a Seth Thomas Clock installed, heavy stone exterior walls, bands of recessed windows, a recessed main entrance, stone arches and keystones above many windows and entries carved with the City's coat-of-arms. Notable interior elements include a highly ornamental cast-iron staircase and sky-lit rotundas.

Article about it
âWhile it might not catch your eye as much as would, say, a live Tyrannosaurus Rex lumbering down the street playing an accordion (badly, since those short arms would limit it somewhat), itâs still something that you would notice and want to know more about.â

I just spent some time scrolling through this blog and am suffering from sever laughter. Thanks so much for collating the countries craziest moments. One of my favourites is when Scott Morrison was in Hawaii while the bushfires where burning.
December 2019: As Australia's east coast is engulfed in the worst bushfires in living memory, rumours begin to circulate that Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison may have secretly fucked off for a holiday in Hawaii.
Keep in mind, this is what is going down in Australia at the time:
The Hawaii rumour is initially written off as a fringe conspiracy, because surely nobody could be that fuckin tonedeaf, and it was quickly forgotten about... until an Australian man visiting Hawaii UPLOADED A SELFIE ON THE BEACH WITH THE PM THROWING A SHAKA.
At which point all hell broke loose.
Overnight the formerly popular "Scomo" became the most despised man in all of Australia. Think "firefighters shouting out of their windows to news cameras" level of despised.
After about two days of radio silence and pretending like he was still at home running the country, the Prime Minister's handlers finally dragged him onto call with an Australian radio station, where he pinky promised to return to Australia as fast as he could in an attempt to calm things down.
Unfortunately Scott's empathy consultant (a real job) then had to watch Scott pour more gasoline on the dumpster fire by uttering the now famous phrase "Look I don't hold a hose mate" when asked by the radio interviewer why the fucking fuck the fuckhead wasn't fucking in Australia doing his fucking job during a massive fucking crisis.
Testing just how much worse things could get, Scomo then proceeded to NOT rush back to Australia as promised, instead attempting to complete the rest of his holiday, a fact that was exposed when a passerby snapped a picture of him still lounging on the beach two days later.
Eventually, holiday complete, Morrison did reluctantly slink back to Australia, and in an attempt to calm things down, he decided to pay a visit to a small town that had been destroyed by the fires.
Which was a big mistake.
Scomo still had not registered how absolutely and totally he had screwed the poodle with his Hawaiian beach vacation, and he walks into what is now taught in PR classes as one of the greatest examples of "what not do do in a crisis" in all of history.
Scotty from Marketing, as he is now dubbed by the nation, spends a painfully cringe-inducing hour wandering around a burned down town with TV news cameras in tow, having to FORCE PEOPLE TO SHAKE HIS HAND in what is some of the most awkward footage you will ever see.
At this point it's probably also worth mentioning that, before becoming Prime Minister, Scott Morrison's biggest claim to fame in politics was being the guy that was so far up the coal lobby's arse that he literally brought coal into parliament and waved it around, claiming it doesn't hurt people.
So when a protest was organised it turned out to be one big national fuck you to the Prime Minister, the likes of which the world has never seen before or since.
Needless to say, at this point Scomo's career was dead in the water, but thanks to the rules brought in to stop Australian political parties from knifing their leader every two weeks (a popular Aussie passtime) Morrison basically couldn't get fired until after the next election.
And so, when the election rolled around in 2022, we decided that was an opportune time to travel over to Hawaii to erect this bad boy tribute to the Prime Minister, on the very beach where Scomo had sat and drank margaritas that one fateful week in December as Australia burned (thanks to @chaser for funding the ticket)

Hello, Camden!
*spoilers ahead..kinda..*
It's going to be Camden Casey's character analysis from his three episode arc. This is part 1..
Casey's character is everything that people of Station 42 aren't with his rebellious Dodgers jacket, shorts and flip flops. He gives the vibe of someone looking to stir trouble in Edgewater. When Diego's buddies come for Bode, Jake tries to diffuse the situation but Camden goes on seeking the trouble out as a flying flip flop makes a good aim for that bully's face. What follows next is an action sequence with Camden, now bare feet, fighting of the trouble makers without breaking a sweat (sweet Jaysus that was hot). Oh! And I'm guessing the throw of salt and pepper was tribute to Supernatural!
During the plan rescue scene, we see Camden taking charge of the situation and his cadet, pushing him harder. Bode of course doesn't disappoint. Camden's recklessness and reluctance for following procedure is reinforced leaving Jake troubled by his methods.
Back at station 42, that idiot vaper accidentally sets fire to somebody's suitcase, endangering the fire station. Once again, Camden tries to douse the fire with water but the chemical compounds in it risk further danger. For a minute it seems like Camden acted without a thought but the next minute, he gathers himself and suggests taking the pallet outside and letting it burn.
Though Camden comes across as someone impulsive, what I love is why he is like that. That little emotional backstory for Camden is a wonderful addition to his character. It also goes to show his honesty.
In his brief interaction with Bode, he promises Bode to help him become a good firefighter and that's what I love the most about Casey. Unlike Jake, who is too hard on Bode, restricting him from giving his best, Camden Casey seems to be opposite, willing to let Bode shine.
I disagree with Sharon. I don't think Camden is a sociopath but damn it would be fun to see these two characters share a scene. The job showed him that sometimes trusting your gut over a process can save a lot more lives. Although, i wonder if Camden fighting Diego's buddies is going come bite him in the ass. Last time a firefighter punched someone, albeit a Chief, they landed in three rock. Looking at you, Manny Perez. So I don't know if that's going to go sour for him.
Now that we have talked about the Camden's part in the episode, i just wanna say I'm super thrilled to see what more Camden brings to the story. I want to see him interacting a lot more with Bode and even three rock inmates for that matter. I'm excited to get to know his character deeper, see what makes him tick. His interaction with Gabriela may be an interesting one especially if he feels she is a distraction for Bode. Audrey has Camden's temperament so, that's another duo i'd like to see.
One of the things that I noticed as have others, is that Camden is seen wearing a wedding band. I don't know if that's Jared's real band or not but if it's a character thing, it would be amazing to see if there's another backstory there. Maybe, his wife died with the 10 crew members?? I don't know but it will be nice to explore that!
A three episode arc may not cover all of it, but I hope they give us something to hold onto so that I'd excited for a potential spin off focusing on Camden.
No doubt Jared did a great job with this character, his body language is a lot more arrogant in this which I loooove. I think he opted to give Camden a deeper voice and I'm enjoying that. It's refreshing to see him play a character that's not afraid to stand his ground and let loose the inner rebel.

imagine some sorts of halloween party, everyone showing up in basic costumes like cowboys, firefighters etc. then doors open and there he is one and only max verstappen. in a ferrari fernandos years race suit. everyone just doing a collective âwoooooowâ, while charles choking on his drink.
later charles approached max, who was completely ignoring him all night, like he didnât turned charlesâ world upside down. charles asks him about his costume and max goes on full rant about how he wanted to tribute fernando, since he was his childhood hero. and charles is like âheyyy stop fangirling over fernando, i am here, i am ferrari driver, i am better, kiss me please, lets go upstairsâ
safe to say max got massage and that night were pretty red lightedđ¤
(i just remembered that charles and carlos have their surnames on suits and imagine charles later made max weat itđ¤đ¤)
Max in a Ferrari race suit, Charles would die đđ
I can imagine him saying to Pierre that surely Max was wearing that outfit on purpose to flirt with him!! So when Max says its because of Fernando Charles gets jealous... and Max did want to dress up as a bit of a Fernando tribute but also knew it would drive Charles wild đ
Charles probably asks Ferrari to make him another race suit but with slightly different measurements .... they have no idea why but it's Charles so they just do it. The measurements are of course Max's! Max gets given the race suit as a gift to wear but when he looks properly at it he sees Charles has had a label sewn into it that says 'Property of Charles Leclerc' đ
Loving the Halloween theme đ

Golden Hour at Duxford. ARCo formation on the Battle of Britain. Sure it has changed over the years.
This week, as we mark the 84 years since the Battle of Britain, we remember and pay tribute to the Service and sacrifice of 'The Many. The pilots, plotters, factory workers, radar operatives, engineers, firefighters, ambulance drivers, anti-aircraft gunners and so many more. Their bravery and courage marked a defining moment of the Second World War.
The service has taken place annually on the 15th of September, the date chosen as Battle of Britain Day since appointed by His Majesty King George VI back in 1943. The day recognises the momentous point in the fighting when the Luftwaffe launched its heaviest bombing raids on London.

Friday 2nd December 1960 saw tragedy strike when a firefighter from Glasgow Fire Service lost his life at a fire on board the German cargo ship MV Pagensand at Princeâs Dock.
The story started a few days earlier when the vessels crew had discovered the fire on the Tuesday that week, when they were 2 days out of Gothenburg, Sweden. A decision was made to seal the holds and make for port. Smoke still continued to come from the hold. What made matters worse the ship was carrying matches and paper!
The Captain had radioed a warning ahead and the vessel was advised to head for The Forth and dock at either Leith or Grangemouth but on getting closer to Scotland decided it was safe enough to make it to Glasgow instead.
When the ship docked at Princes Dock, Govan late on Thursday the officer in charge and the Captain agreed that the sealed hatches would remain in place until daylight.
On the Friday during daylight the deck cargo was cleared and the firefighters prepared for entry into the hold. When the hatch was opened several firefighters and some Dockers went below. Within minutes there were shouts for help and 11 firefighters and a Docker had collapsed and also required rescue.
Station Officer Douglas Mearns could not be revived after the incident, he was 45 years old, married and had three children, there is a plaque at the Millennium Bridge remembering him, members of Govan Fire Station pay tribute to him their annually on this date, SO Mearns is also on the Monument to the firefighters at Necropolis.

the Lantern of Light
The space within the two walls is entered from beneath a delicate open âtowerâ of metal and coloured glass. The space beneath the lantern is defined by a series of paired metal columns - a quiet reference to the two services and the support they provide society. Wrapped around this refined, ordered structure is a simple, pure sheath of luminous coloured glass, gradually becoming more open towards the sky. Sunshine makes the lantern glow with an intense warmth and cast dappled light; at night it becomes a beacon of light.
On the far side of the municipal plaza generous stairs and paired tribute walls mark the approach to the memorial, linking the contemplative space to the park and the city beyond.
The artwork integrates the whole plaza. The intimate place of memory is linked to the ceremonial entry at the Tribute Walls. The educational and individual memorials are separated from the ceremonial approach, while creating a dynamic between the two â this extends the visual impact, suggests a procession across the plaza, and defines the expanse of the plaza as the area of commemoration, unifying it into a single tribute space.
Walls of Memory/Lantern of Light encourages contemplation and remembrance, both for individuals and groups; it is also an active place, inviting, a focal point for school groups, graduations, celebrations, memorials. Walls of Memory/Lantern of Light creates a place that is respectful, honouring and timeless.

i just saw ur most recent post and uhh- I VOLUNTEER FOR TRIBUTE! I think a lot of us want some florist/firefighter abby audios (not forced, ofc) maybe some scissoring? with a load of cuddles after. 𼰠as for sfw, maybe the listener pampering abby (or dominate/masc speaker) cause they arenât used to it. like taking âem on a date, playing in fields and shit. maybe doing their skin care for them or givinâ âem a mani pedi. just brainstorming for ya, your voice can suit anything.
Aw florist Abby is such a cute concept?
Also, def should have clarified, I'm totally chill with Abby requests, I just often get a lot of 'more Abby content!' and nothing elseđ
I wanna brainstorm and short answers like that don't get the brain juices flowing like this response most definitely did. I think with scissoring I always just get a little like...stuck on how to fit that into an audio? Like I want to get a good sound effect bc I tend to make my own and I don't want the sound to be awkward. I think that holds me back from it sometimes, but I shall try to do it soon because I always think about incorporating it in my content I just never dođ.
And the skincare thing? Ugh that sounds so cute! Omg like a gf that isn't all that into skincare being cared for by her gf that has loads of products - need.

There are five suits: Bobby, Hen, Chimney, Buck and Eddie, so that could indicate that they are all there, if they are theirs and not from some storyline in an office for example where there are extras in suits or guest actors. If they are from our four boys and our girl it could be some tribute, memorial service.. or if's a funeral of a firefighter close to them, we don't know if they are normal suits or uniforms.
Personally, what I would like is for them to dedicate an episode to the veterans and pay tribute to them because that could be linked to Eddie's army storyline.

Seven whatevers Sunday - glass
âListen,â Daniel shifted, his white coat creasing at the elbows. âHe's enamored.âÂ
Eddie squinted at him from the other side of the counter and Maddie, where she was dutifully pretending not to pay attention when they were standing at her own nursing station, raised her dark eyebrows all the way up into the roots of her hair. âOkay?â He laughed and drummed his fingers on the counter, willing Evan to hurry up from the hallway he had disappeared down to go to the bathroom. "Is this a stay away from my brother talk?"
Maddie snorted and shook her head. "No, don't worry." But then what sort of talk was it?
It wasn't like it was news that they were... starting something (had started something a few months ago) Evan was enamored, Eddie was enamored. Enamored enough to have lunch in a hospital cafeteria in order to meet his older sister. Eddie wasn't supposed to have met Daniel yet, which was odd only because Evan lived with Daniel and not Maddie. But the brothers had a different, complicated relationship and Eddie wasn't about to criticize anyone for how they learned to handle that. âWith the idea of being a firefighter, that is.â Daniel filled in as though Eddie had asked for more information.Â
Eddie tensed and Maddie abruptly turned around, pushing at her brother's chest with all of the strength of an older sister cursed with two little brothers that would always be taller than her (Eddie would know, Sophia loved pushing him around). âDaniel.â She said in a stern, curt tone. âStop it.âÂ
âI just think he should know.â Daniel gestured lazily, but defended passionately. âEvan can't do it.âÂ
Eddie bristled on his behalf. âI think he can do whatever he wants to do.âÂ
âMedically.â Daniel said with a hard glance between Eddie and Maddie. âAnd you know it's not good for him to keep pretending he can.âÂ
Maddie's left eye twitched. âHe doesn't pretend he can.â She pushed him again. âEvan knows his limits. Maybe you should trust him about them for once.âÂ
Eddie was pretty sure the conversation had nothing to do with him aside from the fact that he was there, and he had shown up to lunch in uniform, having just come off shift.Â
