By the way, out of the four royal heirs, Alfred is now the only one without a seasonal alt in Heroes.
Of the twelve playable royals, Rafal is the only one who's still not in Heroes at all.
This is proof that the FEH developers hate me specifically and want me to be sad.

The power-creep in Fire Emblem Heroes is honestly so bad I couldn’t recommend it in its entirety to new players and if I hadn’t already invested 4 years myself into the game I would consider dropping it because it’s so, so incredibly frustrating to play now.
That being said you could make Book 1 and Book 3 into a legitimate Fire Emblem console game and I would buy it. Give me heckin Líf merch.

With completing Legendary Marth thanks to the Mila Remix, I am one step closer to completing my +10 Collection of Marths. All I need is to complete Winter Marth - who is currently seven copies short. Or if IS decides to toss another Marth Alt while I’m short on Orbs.

ORBQUEST: LOWEN - holding out for a hero!
Tumblr media
Today, I am beginning ORBQUEST: LOWEN - my way of saying that I will be saving all of my Fire Emblem Heroes orbs until they finally put Lowen into the game. Why? Just look at him, look how cute and friendly! Look at that hair! Look how much his cute horse loves him! I've been playing FEH since launch, and have been waiting for seven years (!!!) for my favorite sandwich-loving mop of a cavalier... to no avail! I'm 100% F2P and have amassed a barracks with some of my favorites, with a handful of +10 units (NY!Panne being my favorite). Blazing Blade was my very first game when my cousin let me borrow it way back when it came out. I was definitely way too young to really know what I was doing, but it made me basically a lifelong fan of the series. Having played it again (as well as every subsequent game), I still have such a soft spot for the Elibe characters and their designs. Lowen also basically set my personal parameters for how I set up characters in RPGs; for whatever reason, RNG always gives me a super lucky, super defensive version of him - and that mix has never led me astray! Love that guy. I am convinced he'll get added eventually, and when he does I will be +10-ing him and feeding him every ridiculous skill I can get my hands on. We stan a lhasa apso of a man here in these barracks.

Corrin and Kana's New Years Reunion
It took nearly 6 years for them to add a new Kana alt to Fire Emblem Heroes, and the fact they chose to have her first alt be just like her father's (A Tempest Trials F2P unit) is the best way to do it.

The world in Genshin is so pretty, the art/graphics is breathtaking, unfortunately it is a gacha which I have fallen into several times, but if you’re determined to be f2p it’s still doable.
But landscapes are just simply gorgeous
Honestly, if I ever escape the grasp that Fire Emblem: Heroes has on me and actually get a device that could handle Genshin, I probably would be tempted to download it (and yes, I am a determined f2p). I'm a big fan of characters with interconnected stories and 'xplorin'.

Also can I just say, I think Granblue is actually relatively fair for a f2p gacha game
You can play through entire events without extending stamina, you get your stamina back if an enemy defeats you, the story mode seems to be get-through-able without grinding extensively
I played Fire Emblem Heroes before and that game got really infuriating in how you just run out of a stamina if you suck because they don't give it back. Or Obey Me, you can't just get through an event in one go because the story is broken up by fights that require stamina. At least they're not super hard. As opposed to the main story, where the enemies keep scaling and you have to really grind just to keep playing???
I like how with Gbf that sort of stuff is separate and you can just be a dirty casual all day long and just read events and vibe and the real meat and grind is kind of detached from that in RoB and GW and such
And even then, RoB is doable even if you're mostly vibing? I definitely got a skin from it at some point
So yeah, I definitely appreciate that. It's a game you can sink hours into and grind like an animal Icha seraphics reference or you just chill and you can still have a mostly nice time. The game doesn't really force you to do either
And even if I suck at uncapping things I can borrow a friend's transcended Bahamut and marvel at the new animation
.... Unless the story mode requirements get insane later on, but even then I can just play events ha ha
omg yeah you're right actually
Like, at least the story is mostly accessible if you're a full casual (ie that you don't actually play the raids and quests a lot). The main story can go pretty far until you start to run into some powerscale difficulties, and even there it's nothing really dramatic. The events' stories are all accessible to completely new players. You really get access to a LOT of the game without even having to play too hard.
There's a few difficulties that can arise of course. the fact the second FE of each characters is locked behind a character uncap means at least working to get those, being the lowest level of involvement for a pure casual.
there are elements who are locked behind major "you need to have either major patience to grind, or being high leveled." The Eternals and the Evokers for instance are pretty much locked if you are mostly casual, but at least nowadays they appear in events more often, so you can still know about them without having them, compared to the old days.
The most frustrating aspect is mostly that any continuation to wmtsb since the trilogy ended have been in locked HL quests and events far into the main story to unlock. Bubs and Belial's quests for instance, or the transcendances, or how we get continuation in Tower of babyl which is a really rough event that is already here to challenge veterans and isn't really beginner friendly.
So like, they're still encouraging fans to genuinely work on the grind so they can advance some fan popular stories which are else kept under lock. And that's kinda frustrating because the whole thing really does from "you can do 90% of the game by being so casual you don't have to break a sweat" to "but the 10% remaining; which are extremely popular, demands you to be extremely HL".
And obviously the more you grind HL stuff (like GW), the more crystals you can get to be able to pull when a fav is in the banner. So that's also just the thing of how at some point if you want to pull some gacha you have to end up grinding more, esp once you run out of places to just skips to get crystals to.
but as it is, yeah, the balance is pretty accessible to anyone, and in the end really playing the game can be done really casually.
And officially speaking the reasons some stuff (like the seraphic) takes a lot of mats is that originally the idea is that you're supposed to grind gradually over time. It's us crazy player who grinds like animals ( ;D ) because we want it done with within a week.
So honestly yeah the game is pretty accessible if all you care about is the stories, and since the stories are the core of the game, this is what really matters.
And all you say about the stamina is true as well. And the fact we get half!elixir a lot to refill our stamina means you can basically never stop if you wish, it doesn't cost much.
Like you mentioned, Obey Me is ruthless about that for instance for the main story. Stamina gets pricey, you also can't exactly proceed with the main story if you are trying to grind an event since your stamina's priority will be there... and yeah, the further into the main story the more the enemies caps are genuinely frustrating and not at all friendly if you don't have a lot of cards you can swap up to help yourself up, and have them all uncapped over level 100 and stuff.
I'm also thinking about Twisted Wonderland that had powerful fights in the main story that would block you if you didn't have the power levels for them, and that getting to upgrade your cards to that takes gacha luck, either an extremely long grinding, or using mats, but to get those mats you need to grind for a long time, and huh oh you're blocked by your stamina again.
Granblue's gameplay is much more confusing and it can be easy to be overwhelmed by it on paper. Especially if you're trying to participate to the grind heavy events without really knowing what you're in for (i knew someone who started playing a bit blind while a GW was live and was just so confused by trying to participate to the event like, honey, no, you're new, ignore this hell).
But ultimately the stories themselves are easily accessible if you're just a casual so that's already nice.
so yeah granblue nice, honestly!
