Some interests and things you like: Uh...... Fire Emblem? Also most things that go into video games (drawing, writing, composing/playing music, i love programming so much it's insane, etc. etc), I'm a little art kid :sparkles:. Oh also Spider-verse and Nimona.... :softsmile:

Some fun facts & trivia about you: I know my integer squares up the 22? Did I mention I love math? Studying game design at a technical school rn, and I know six programming languages atm (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Java, C#, and Python). I also programmed a text-only GBA combat sim in Python earlier this year. Took a couple weeks and I did that instead of my Physics work :D

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? ...So here's the thing. (JKJKJK) Uh..... I like Triangle Strategy, Hades, I've been meaning to finish the original Ori :shrek_mmh:, and Omori went crazy but I'm not playing it again (it's best on a blind playthrough). I also really enjoyed Undertale! Don't have much else on my backlog tho haha

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: So I don't really Pokemon. BUT. I do love Squirtle and Wartortle and I had a Gible named Nom Nom in Pokemon Arceus. Favorite type though would probably be Dragon or Dark. lol

How did you get into Fire Emblem? Back when I was in 3rd grade, my mother gave me and my brothers a Wii with Super Smash Bros Brawl! I was a Sheik main but my brother got me to play some other characters, including Marth, Pit, and Ike. I didn't like Ike for his slowness but Marth and Pit were good for my style of play. I later followed him into Fire Emblem Heroes hell, and then later into emulating Sacred Stones! Didn't finish it until after Three Houses came out though. Finished Azure Moon in three weeks (including school).

What Fire Emblem games have you played? I've beaten Sacred Stones and Three Houses, most of Engage, roughly half of Valentia, the first few chapters of Genealogy, Shadow Dragon, and Binding, and the demo of Awakening. Also about half of Three Hopes but that doesn't count it's a Warriors game (also through most of Book 5 in FEH) :/

First Fire Emblem game: Sacred Stones! The first I finished was 3H though lol

How did you find TOA? Okay so while I was still relatively new to Tumblr, I was browsing tags and a previous Dimitri's posts (the art especially caught my attention it was incredible) were coming up under the Dimitri tag (the mun knows who they are). When I looked at the blog and saw it was dedicated to Dimitri, I got completely suspicious of it immediately :crylaugh: Ended up digging around though and saw the art style was consistent, and after I got past the drabble at the top I realized it was a roleplay blog, which. While I was still new, I was accustomed from Twitter to people being both god artists and god writers, so I figured it was just all by one person. Followed it for a few months (which I got exposed for when I reserved Linhardt but I still find that hilarious so it's fine), and eventually the August activity check popped up last year and I decided to join. Yay! (Never found out who 'mun' was tho :/ (this is a jest))

Current TOA muses: Linhardt, Colm, and Valter!

Who was your first TOA muse? If you don’t have them anymore, could you see yourself picking them up again? Also Linhardt! lol. While I don't expect to be dropping him soon (looks away), if I ever did, I have a feeling he'd be back eventually. Adore my little genderball.

Have you had any other TOA muses? Nope! Picked them up one after the other and have yet to drop any dnjgkfsn

Do you think you have a type of character you gravitate towards? Hm...... Well I know I have a type, but it's hard to put into words haha. Anyone who makes me laugh I guess? And people who are super duper attached to their role in life (think knights and knight-adjacents like Selena and Glen). There's something going on in their noggins that is just so. (STARES) Also people who scare me with their in-game dialogue. (Valter, but TS Dimitri applies as well FNDJKNG.)

What do you believe you enjoy writing the most? I'm not really certain, but I know I have a LOT of fun whenever I craft dialogue. Me and my incapability to be quiet (endearing)

Favorite TOA-related memory: A close one would be two of the muns recognizing me when I submitted the Linhardt reserve, but I also get a kick out of Linhardt climbing a tree to escape a boar during Unscripted last year fnjsdkngsf. The birthday wishes back in May also made me explode (positive) EDIT: I FORGOT SIRIUS ROLLING VALTER FOR HIS LIEGE DURING KKE!!!!! THAT WAS HILARIOUSSSSSSSSS (so was patty's crush on valter. makes me cackle every time)

Got any delusions that didn’t see the light of day in TOA that you’d like to share? I might still make use of my Saleh blog. I have an idea I want to go for, but he isn't the biggest delusion right now. Neimi might also have a shot, but I don't expect to be doing anything for Lukas or Hubert any time soon. You all know who's coming next.

I don’t know if anyone has ask you about this but…

What are your opinions on Robbie Daymond?

You know, I could have sworn I did Robbie Daymond on here, but I think because I did Ray Chase and Max Mittelman, I just assumed I covered Robbie too, lol.

So Robbie Daymond plays Hubert, Tobin, and Ares in FEH. Outside of FEH, he’s Goro Akechi from Persona 5, Prompto in FFXV, Megumi Fushiguro in Jujutsu Kaisen, and most recently Chai in Hi-Fi Rush!

Ok so performance. Robbie just absolutely nails it every time with his characters. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Hubert, I despise him for being associated with Edelgard but he works as an antagonist in the Azure Moon/Gleam routes of 3H, and Robbie acts with his full chest when he plays Hubert; brilliant laughs and sneers (And fun fact, Aaron Hendricks, who plays Balthus, does a creepily good impression in the Black Eagles route of Three Hopes apparently). Ares is a different kind of energy, but he’s also got kind of a dramatic tone to his voice as well when he talks about Eldigan (And it’s really sad that out of all the kids, Ares still hasn’t gotten an alt yet). Tobin is… Tobin, it’s a very casual voice but it’s also very natural-sounding.

Robbie fits all three of these characters like a glove, and honestly as much as I hate him, I actually want to see a Hubert alt sometime soon. Or just ANY alt for one of Robbie’s characters for that matter.

Range? He has the range. There’s enough of a distinct quality to his voice that you can recognize a role he plays, but also there’s such a huge jump between Hubert, Tobin, and Ares that I wouldn’t have really known without the VA credits on FEH. I’d say that his characters aren’t super diverse, but that doesn’t really interfere with his actual voice range.

Overall, Robbie’s a well-earned 9/10. And I’ll leave off with one of my favorite videos of him, Max, and Ray:

um, the most emotional moment for me was in three hopes azure gleam chapter 9? where Yuri had a whole NINE LINES OF MAIN STORY DIALOGUE!!! it was the best moment of my life

m Shez probably beats out m Byleth by just a little. I just love his voice acting so much. I didn't actually realize until on my like 5th hopes playthrough I forced myself to use f Shez and f Byleth so that I could unlock all their class skills for future playthroughs. and well I don't like playing as f Shez because it makes me feel gross how f avatars aren't allowed to wear as much clothes. so I was already dragging myself through it but then when I did her warrior special I was like... why does she sound so bored 😭 give me back Damien Haas's ridiculously overenthusiastic I'VE GOT YOU NOW!!!!!! I missed him so much. and shortly after that I accidentally free pulled m Shez in feh and his art is so cute and his skills are good and that was when I realized he is bae actually.

I haven’t really said much on the upcoming FE title, other than Colgate Pepsi Lord being uggo, and that’s mostly because of my... unresolved problems with Fire Emblem Heroes. Or rather, that entire “hero summoning” as a concept.

I suppose sometimes in a game, it’s a fun concept to have like... a cameo summon. Twilight Princess’ Wolf Link in Breath of the Wild is a fun easter egg, and as optional dlc, probably non-canonical as far as story goes. It’s something that doesn’t bother me, maybe because I’m having fun with the game enough to shrug weirdness, like wearing Majora’s Mask as a mask, off.

But a game like FEH, where it’s built AROUND the concept of FE series cameos... I really can’t excuse it’s pathetic excuse for stories, while I stare at the pile of familiar characters I care WAY MORE ABOUT than the OCs constantly whumped in plot for little effect. I honestly dislike most FEH OCs, because there’s a lot about both their context and execution that bothers me... and the direction the games writing has good (book 2 was the worst nosedive, but the entire structure is mmwheeh)

So, my thoughts in rant form (brought on by FEH’s book 7 trailer):

I don’t feel attached to Zenith, because I feel like the character could care less about it or its problems with the way the traipse off ALL THE TIME. It’s likely I’ll be just as cranky about a group of silver spoon kiddos summoning great heroes to serve their beck and whim... with at most a “you mean so much to me Marth-sama uwu” being stated. Engage’s tone looks all light and fluffy, and maaaaaaaaan, it’ll all bounce off my salty self. I just hope I’m not bored by it, like I was in the end with Awakening.

Dame’s thoughts on FE3H Rufus

FE16, aka FE Three Houses, spoilers below

So... over the years since FE3H came out, I’d developed certain headcanons for some off-screen NPCs. Y’know the ones, mentioned by characters, but didn’t get a name let alone a model/portrait. The most conspicuous one might’ve been Dimitri’s Uncle- Regent Rufus.

In the main game he gets mentioned only a handful of times: by Dimitri for existing, by Felix to be criticized for not handling the rampant Bandit situation post-Tragedy, by the plot for kicking off Azure Moon’s civil war events within Faerghus.

So I’d started thinking “what type of prince is this man?” and went with the idea of ‘party prince’: the sort of secondary heir who grew up with few responsibilities and instead just lives the high life on the country’s dime. I figured, this could be a big reason why as a Regent, Rufus would be inept, cause he plain ignored duties thus has no experience ruling. Along this line of thought, I figured even if Rufus wasn’t actively malicious that he did neglect his freshly orphaned nephew (as its canon post Tragedy both Dimitri and Dedue felt isolated within Fhirdiad’s castle).

So I guess, I built up this picture of an uncle who mostly wanted to have a good time and wasn’t very good at the serious stuff in life, one that Dimitri could have a shallow relationship with that was neutral-borderline-negative. Dimitri himself never seems to express anger towards Rufus, and counts him as family in all ending routes with the possibility of counting on his uncle to keep the Blaiddyd line alive in Crimson Flower. I LIVED FOR the drama of Dimitri being falsely set up for the crime of uncle-murder, and all the gross feelings that must’ve accompanied that.

It was kinda fun speculating on a complicated family relationship that was dysfunctional without being outright villainous-- But now I play through FE Warriors 3H, and seems all my headcanons are to be smashed to pieces, lol. More thoughts to come about that on a later reblog.

I've seen posts about it back in 2019 in twt I think? Most of the artists I followed back then were drawing them craazyy. Then dropped after a year after and moved on to Genshin HAHA.

2. I can't remember but it might have been the Golden Deer/Redraw Reigan memes that actually piqued me.

3.) Golden Deer! (Wanted to try BL but I was denying about how I was interested in Dimitri just because he was blone and blue eyes prince knight and older sis was going for BL first. So I went with GD😂)

4.) Either BL or GD. I just like theire dynamics.

5.) I think Azure Moon is my fave out of all of the routes. It felt personal (I've did every route except BL/AM actually. I've only watched it thru older sis's playthrough.)

6.) Byleth! I know it's dumb liking supposed insert characters but I've done that before sadly. (I still love you Allen😔)

I never even knew he existed because I never saw fanart of him till older sis started playing.

Byleth is a strong and seemingly perfect person but deeply cares for his friends and allies. He's a really dependable person and wants to help people. He indulges in his students' favorite hobbies and interests and I find that cute. The gap between his supposed cold and unemotional side and him basically learning how to interacting with everyone is cute. He likes to fish and every food you see in the game he loves them except for pickled food for some reasons, it's so cute. To me his special charm point is his cute ahoge, it's all part of his cute gap. I find everything about him cute. I'm not gonna deny it anymore😇

EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTIONED, Byleth is so sweet that he asked Manuela to teach him in how to sing and act like in a play because he wants to show it to his papa jeralt. Jeralt mentioned he always wanted to go see a play with Sitri but never had the chance and doesn't have anymore reason to go to. Like uwahhhh😭

I find it cute that he looks like his mama than his papa and it was implied that no matter how much he tries, he told Alfred (Engage) that he can't grow much muscles like his papa😆

Fave moment in FEH is that Shez was trying to compete on who's the better mercanary lead and Byleth just instantly agreed that he's the better leader. Then proceeds to surprise Shez even more by eating huge platter of food😂

Other characters I like is Dimitri (hehe), Sylvain, Ashe, Claude, Hilda, Linhardt, M!Shez

7.) Ignatz! I used him alot when I played VW and also 3Hopes, lettimg him debuff enemies and do chipped damage. I think he's a chill guy who sees the world beautifully despite the war going on.

8.) Enlightened One and Great/High Lord because Byleth and Dimitri hehe.

Mortal Savant is cool. I think doing both sword and magic is cool, it reminds me of Tales.

Some small updates, since I know I haven't been terribly active around here lately. The holidays were more emotionally draining than I initially realized and I only now feel like I'm starting to bounce back from it. Winter in general tends to bring on a sense of ennui and listlessness that just makes me withdraw, kind of like a bear in hibernation, and some days it's easier to fight through it than others. My priority on the good days is always on my fic to keep with my update schedule, so other things, even gaming, tend to fall by the wayside.

-I've ordered Fire Emblem Engage, but my copy's not here yet. I am looking forward to playing it, since the gameplay looks fun, but I have no expectations that any of the characters are going to invade my brain the way Dimitri and the Lions did. Doesn't mean I won't enjoy them or the game though, even if I'm never going to stop cringing at some of the character designs.

-My beloved tablet (which I've had for over five years) got pretty much bricked out of the blue one morning when it spontaneously yeeted Google Play off of itself. It's as bizarre as it sounds. Attempts to get it back have not been successful, and since apps will not work without a Google Play check, the thing's basically useless. TL;DR, I bought myself a new tablet, which was not an expense I'd planned on, but I at least found a good deal on one. Until it arrives I've had to temporarily move FEH back to my phone (bleh), which is four years old and slowly dying. So that's something else that'll need replacing this year too, I guess. Planned obsolescence is SO great, isn't it?

-For anyone who still cares, my Azure Gleam writeups aren't dead, just on an extended hiatus. I had wanted to finish the game before Engage came out but obviously that's not happening. But I always try to finish a project once I've committed to it, so I WILL finish it eventually. I have completed AG's chapter 12 (both paths) and, uh....wow. I am still angry about it. Like, so angry/gobsmacked by the choices the writers made with it that it's hard to distill my thoughts into words. I'll have a whole-ass rant about it by the time I actually get the writeup done, so that's something to look forward to? lol.

Dimitri’s Brain & the power of friendship

I read some comments about how some people, while playing Azure Gleam, expected Dimitri to spiral as the story progressed. That we would have front row seat to Dimitri’s decent into madness. I.e. we’ll see how the Protector, as he’s titled in FEH, becomes the Savage Boar.

However, instead, what we got was front row seat to show how to stop people from spiralling down a dark hole. Because Dimitri still suffers from PTSD induced psychosis, still has survivor guilt and still loathes himself to the point that he found it cathartic to kill his doppelganger in the darkness of Zaharas. The difference is that the Warrior King had the constant support of his friends.

I think there is lesson to be learnt here because Dimitri getting the loving support is the real power friendship. Also, I feel that it is something we can do for our friends, family and loved ones in RL where an increase number of people are in danger of radicalisation. 

Dimitri became the Savage Boar because he had no one else to listen to except the echo chamber created by the voices in his head. When he had counters, he could stop himself from falling into the dark hole of savagery. I am glad that’s the direction Koei decided to go. Instead of forcing a plotline where he artificially isolates himself and embraces the darkness!

An aside, I feel that Byleth is getting a short end of the stick as people make their way through Three Hopes since some people are commenting that Shez is better at preventing problems. While Byleth fixed problems. But the Byleth had to fix because she disappeared for five years.

Had she not tried to save Rhea in AM, she would have been in a position rally the Knights of Serios and most likely follow Dimitri back to Faerghus and similar to CF, I think he would have been crowned king and start to fight back immediately but with Byleth by his side. Similar to CF and AG, Dimitri would never have slid into darkness and I am guessing the war would be over pretty quickly.

Especially since I think a Claude who spent a year at the Academy would have pretty much joined forces with Byleth and Dimitri from the start! But its a ‘what if’ and we’ll never know the truth. Because while I am half expecting a DLC for Three Hopes, I don’t think Houses is getting anything more.

@butwhatifidothis​ had some things to say about what they liked about Rhea. There was some... interesting projection to be had.

Actually morally gray character that brings up genuinely interesting moral hypotheticals (“Do you allow for the advancement of technology after witnessing firsthand the horrors that came from allowing such a thing to happen in the past?” “Do you morph history in order to protect a persecuted minority from being further attacked and killed?” “If you were to have an extremely long life, should you use it to be a long-standing guiding figure for those who don’t share your long lifespan?”) as well as performing actions that are understandable but still extremely morally questionable (creating homunculi in order to revive Sothis).

Okay, so she thinks she’s the one who knows best how to guide Fodlan and does morally questionable things to do it, gotcha.

The voice acting for her, both JPN and even the butchered ENG direction one, are so good and really let you get a feel for her deeply she feels emotions. More so in the JPN version, but her Fallen!Rhea alt in FEH provides some quality Sad Sounding Rhea content for her ENG version to catch up on lol (even though hot take yes her ENG version has way less range than her JPN version but I don’t mind Angrhea cuz her being Blood Sweatin’ Pissed always made sense to me given her circumstances. Definitely needs more range tho, fuck the voice direction she got lmao)

Uhm, “why is this character who is often either calm or angry voice acted as being so often calm or angry, why was the voice direction so bad?”

Also what, Rhea does show sad voice acting in late VW and SS... I thought her voice acting was great. What, do you want Rhea saying she’s at the top of her game?

I like that she’s actually fairly shy? Like she wants to interact with people more but she’s so worried that she’d just make things awkward for them - woman’s so worried about it she’s anonymously asking this piece of wood mercenary advice about how to politely tell someone hosting a tea party that she prefers her tea cold 😭 Like yes she can be very stern and decisive when it comes to big matters but damn how can that not tickle your heart some lmao

She’s socially awkward and BWIIDT likes that, sounds good. It is a pretty cute bit of character rounding to her, I like that myself.

I really like that she does eventually come to see Byleth as their own person and not just an amnesiac Sothis 

She never thought Byleth was an amnesiac Sothis, she thought of Byleth as a vessel. Like she literally says this in the exact scene people use as the source of the “amnesiac Sothis” defense.

She even says to Seteth that Byleth is not quite Sothis, but a vessel for her power.

That said, she does come to see Byleth as their own person, but only after her plans have blown up in her face and she was fed a five-year serving of humble pie.

and that, even after realizing that Byleth =/= Sothis, she still wants them to lead Fodlan because she genuinely trusts them to use Sothis’ power for the betterment of the people. 

Because she was dead or dying in 2/3 routes where this decision was made. The exception is Azure Moon, which doesn’t play nice with the lore of the rest of the game.

Because she could always see that Byleth isn’t Sothis and then come to resent Byleth for it, or otherwise not trust them with Sothis’ power that she knows they have now, but she doesn’t. 

Rhea has no capacity to decide whether or not Byleth gets Sothis’s power by the time she’s forced to admit that Byleth will never be the vessel of Sothis; by then Byleth had inherited Sothis’s power over five years ago and Rhea was dying and in no state to continue performing her duties. This isn’t a sacrifice, this is her having to accept the circumstances she arranged for.

Okay, now to Rhea Headcannons!

It takes a while for her to put on her ornate Church robes, but not really because of the clothes themselves; not anymore anyway, a few hundred years down the line and it becomes simple enough to put on fairly quickly. No, it’s because everyday she has to very meticulously rub off all of the cat/dog hair that sticks to her after letting in like a dozen stray cats and dogs into her room when Seteth’s not looking. She can’t afford to get caught by Seteth look unprofessional or anything silly like that! Auntie Rhea teaching Flayn about the stars is one of her favorite past times - she was so happy when Byleth returned her star chart to her after she’d lost it, cuz she planned on giving it to Flayn once she learned the constellations properly so that she can spot them on the chart.

Her relationship with Macuil is rather strained - she knows he isn’t fond of her staying with humans, and she can’t ever seem to build up the courage to talk to him knowing that. But she visits Indech once every few decades, when she can get away with it. Looking at the landscape painting of Lake Teutates always brings a smile to her face, knowing that closed-off Indech is safe and content enough as he is.

Takes others of her group under her wing and wants to protect them, okay.

She and Seteth are super super omega mature always no matter what… except when Rhea calls him a moldy-oldy and kicks off an hour long insult-a-thon between the two of them. It brings levity to the both of them, rare as they are to happen. 

Acts mature most of the time but she can be rather childish in private, gotcha.

So uhm... BWIIDT, why did you go and make a pejorative (Woobiegard) to sum up the qualities Edelgard’s fans like in Edelgard and then make an entire Tumblr post for which the tl;dr is: “I wish Rhea was more like Edelgard”?

The gap moe in Houses feels like it's not just intentional, but purposeful. When I think about it, my mind goes to the scene in Verdant Wind where Claude unites the Alliance and Almyran forces. He talks about getting to know people rather than clinging to inital impressions of them, since that can lead to misunderstands (and in the case of Hopes, Claude going genocidal). With that in mind, Houses uses it's gap moe as a means to give the characters depth, that only by dedicating time to them that we can actually get to know the real them. To see them for who they are.

With Edelgard, it all plays into the twist of her being the red emperor seeking conquest, whereas Rhea and the Church turn out to be the good guys. But with Edelgard, it's especially important since her character has attraction baked into her core character through her being identified as a hegemonic ruler. She attracts people to her side through whatever promises she makes in order to use them rather than using her power to force them to fight for her, though she does have a with me or against me mindset and has no problem using force on subjects who oppose her. It would tie into Aymr having the Crest of the Beast, linking it to the Devil Arcana suggesting those following her are doing so of their own free will while becoming more like her in the process, as well as her route being named Safflower, a flower that symbolizes attraction. And with the Buddhist symbolism of the Nabateans, she's the one who can potentially tempt Byleth away from Nirvana into joining her.

Edelgard is always meant to be attractive, even at the end of White Clouds there's still the possibility she's the lesser of two evils. The only time she's not attractive is at the end of Azure Moon, where the ideals she started a war for are actually explained and called out and as a result the game morphs her into the grotesque Hegemon Husk form. It's the one moment where the game stops treating her with kids' gloves.

But... fucking hell, this just means that the game can't otherwise engage with her actions or claims because if they were to do so, the attraction would be lost. So characters can say things or have elements to their backstory that should disqualify them from joining her, or we can gleam all we can from NPC dialogue to form a picture of the reality of what's going on under her with character endings giving hints that her ending isn't sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. It's not like we see her soldiers kill the commoners who resist being conscripted, we are just told that it happens and that's probably where 99% of the discourse comes from. We are supposed to pick up that her rule is a bad thing from what people tell us, but on the other hand Edelgard is telling us her own narrative. It left people in a situation where they could just dismiss the claims against Edelgard as false, citing unreliable narrators and them choosing to believe Edelgard over all the accusations. Likewise, they can't call Edelgard's claims out despite how divorced they are from the reality of Fodlan.

It's just another example of how Fodlan can have good ideas but flub the actual execution of them. If, as the devs say, we were only expected to play one route... after the Flame Emperor reveal where Edelgard is rejected why in the holy fuck does the game still cling to the attraction crap? If it's clear we aren't joining her and doing so is presented as the path of truth, that by fighting her we see her for who she really is, why not have people react like actual people concerning her?

Oh, right. FEH.

On the other hand, the fact that Edelgard's attraction to Byleth being the result of their Crests resonating with each other? Nice way to reveal that her feelings aren't her being in love with Byleth.

Basically, Bernie plays into the whole "moe" aesthetic ?

I had to run and look up exactly what that means since I basically understand moe to be something like cutesy when of course it's more involved than that, but - sounds about right.

@ezralahm also made the point that gacha predation doesn't necessarily need to take the form of sexual fanservice, and that it can also be about instilling some other type of parasocial desire in the (presumed straight male) player, like wanting to protect a cute, innocent girl.

Pairing Bernadetta with Goldmary allows them to trigger both types of responses on a single unit, so it's very efficient in that way.

Also that hubert and leonie are quite nice to shez but were/are hostile to byleth, byleth and jeralt dying)

That's what it seems like to me. They wanted Claude to be part of Foldan's war but also wanted him to have an Almyran thing. They really should have just gone all in on the Almyra part, and only brush upon the Foldan war part.

Hmmm. I can see why people might be complaining but... Well, some of these I'm not sure if I agree with. The Miklan thing is a little... off, yeah. But the game is supposed to not be the "best ending of all time" so characters dying isn't an issue.

But AG having a happier ending than AM I suppose I can understand... Still, an interesting point of view. I might agree more as I continue my gameplay.

It always surprises me when Edelstans who only play CF still try to give Dimitri shit for torturing soldiers or make him out to be completely mad whe he just isn't. It's the same thing with the old FEH forging bond, Edelgard shouldn't have been that surprised to see Dimitri in his right mind because in her timeline he never completely lost it.

I just find it funny how they have to pull from another route to demonize Dimitri on CF when Edelgard does so much worse than him on it. I dont think the devs remembered that he wasn't the same person as he was on the other three routes.

honestly a game from the pov of dimitri and rhea on cf would have been more fun than playing as the empire. you spend the game doing your best to secure the kingdom but you can’t stop the empire’s advancements and you start to feel the same panic and desperation the characters feel knowing the inevitable end is near

Oh definitely. I’m not big on Byleth either because of how a lot of their dialogues requires player to choose for them and even without it, they weren’t very interesting in the long run. (Speaking of, I’m playing Azure Moon in FE3H but I’m hardly having time to complete it due to schoolwork and stuff)

I also kind of share something but I remember having a on and off thirsting phase for Linus and Lloyd back when I played FEH a few years back (it’s just a damn shame he got an alt just recently whereas Ursula got a swimsuit alt a few years ago and a desert alt just this year) but oh well Linus got an alt and I think it’s nigh time that Brogie improves his voice as Linus.

And yeah I remember people on Twitter begging for FEH to get a Fallen alt for Chrom like how Ike got one despite his Fallen alt existing in Cipher and when Fallen Chrom is released, everyone is rejoicing it as we are speaking.

Oh and I also realized that Mayo’s art for Fallen Maria is amazing. I don’t know when was the last time we saw Mayo’s art but it seems like they’ve improved at some point because of the scary energy they channeled through Maria. Voice-work wise, Wendee Lee is improving her voice for Maria and congrats on Maria getting a second alt.

EDIT: I also want to add how nuts it is that one month after doing base Sylvain, the voice directors called Brogie back to do Fallen Linus and now we see two characters done by him just within the span of 1 month (and said characters deserved their alt as well)

As much as I don’t care about Byleth, I will say that Hidari’s art of her slaps and it’s also crazy that’s it’s been 4 years since Hidari did anything for FEH.

Also while I’m not familiar with FE7, you’re right on Linus gaining another alt since it’s been already 5-6 years since he’s released and while it sucked that he is a Grail unit, at least Joe Brogie is given more work to improve on Linus so no hard feelings.

Fallen Chrom is kind of the same as Fallen Ike and I’m liking it because of how amazing those concepts are and the fact that Fujisaki Kimihiko drew them is also a plus. (Also it seems like they’re going back to their old art style after their last one at Brave F!Byleth)

Yeah, I'm not really a Byleth fan either. And with F!Byleth, it's pretty clear that it's not her personality that makes her popular, more like two really big reasons for that.

But yeah, I was SHOCKED to see Hidari getting to do more art. They should get some more FEH art more often! I adored their style in Echoes, it was very... I'm gonna say quaint, in a positive way. Something about the style really invoked the medieval aspect of FEH that most of the more recent games haven't been able to really do.

Linus absolutely deserves that alt, and honestly that "Not like this!" is more of a teasing than anything. I just wonder what his art is gonna look like, because Morphs have dark hair and yellow eyes. So are they gonna go the Morph route (that the games never actually got to do probably due to time/graphical restraints) or just give him an aura? I'm curious to see how it'll look. And I think it's funny we were just talking about Linus with Joe Brogie, I'm psyched to hear his performance for FALLEN Linus. And no worries, I'm not familiar with FE7 either, sadly.

I remember hearing people begging for Fell King Chrom and thinking it probably wouldn't come to fruition, but I'm honestly glad it did. It gives us more opportunities for FEH content. And honestly Chrom looks AMAZING! I like to think that Fujisaki Kimihiko doesn't like F!Byleth that much either, lmao. Maybe that's why their art looks so awesome again.

I'm actually gonna tuck question 20 below the cut, because it's somewhat Claude critical. I am still tagging him for my own blog sorting purposes, but Claude fans who don't like seeing him criticized may wish to just not click the "keep on reading" line.

26 - Character(s) you started out disliking but ended up really liking, and why?

My first impression of Hubert, while I was playing Azure Moon/Verdant Wind, was that he was your average evil henchman. I fully expected him to be mediocre at best. Then I played Crimson Flower and honestly, Hubert was one of the few good things about that route. Turns out he’s the actual brains and competence behind that operation and unapologetically, hammy evil. Hubert doesn’t want to sip tea and paint pictures while the Alliance mourns its leader and Almyra attacks the border—he’s too busy bribing and assassinating people while dressed like a dedicated vampire LARPer. For a character to kill his own father in service to the woman he simps for takes balls (evil balls, but still, balls, and I can respect that). His S support with Byleth is surprisingly wholesome.

20 - Character(s) you thought had wasted potential, and why?

Claude. A biracial lord, who is handsome and charming, but also kind of shifty? That is such an interesting concept, but where the game went with him...

He never ended up nearly as shifty/dangerous as the game implied him to be. Yes, one of his lost items is mild stomach poison, but he never uses it. He steals cheese from the pantry, sneaks into locked off monastery places, uses Byleth's status as interim pope to convince a bunch of nobles, and uses disguises to sneak into a fort. So shifty much wow. Seriously unimpressed.

Then there are his motivations. You don’t learn what his ultimate goals are until after time skip, only to find out that they are idealistic to the point of naïveté. For example, his claim that Dedue, Petra, Shamir and Cyril being at Garreg Mach showed that peaceful co-existence was possible, which seems fine on the surface, except Dedue still faces discrimination even in spite of being vassal to one of the most powerful people in Fodlan while there (the monks won’t let him help with investigations, one of them flat out calls him a miscreant), Petra is a political hostage, Shamir falls under suspicion of having kidnapped Flayn simply for being a foreigner, and Cyril flat out states that some people in the church distrust him because he’s Almyran. That’s not even going into how he seems to think that the only reasons for the xenophobia in Fodlan are the rules of the church and lack of exposure… and completely misses that there are centuries of actual, literal conflicts and invasions, not just from Fodlan’s side, but Almyra, Sreng and Dagda/Brigid as well. Not to absolve the lords of Fodlan of all blame, but when someone tries to raid your territory, that won’t exactly endear them to you. He learns to broaden his horizons a bit at least in regards to Almyra in his supports with Cyril, but it feels more like a footnote.

Finally, thanks to his game doing nothing to build up the Slithers and everything to build up his suspicion of the church for a convenient lore dump, the final two maps of his route—entertaining as they are from a gameplay perspective, come out of nowhere.

Overall, my main problem with Claude (and Edelgard—although in her case I can see what the developers were going for and can at least acknowledge that there was intent behind what initially seems like shoddy writing) is that he has all those grand ideas and supposed talents but 1) it’s very much a case of tell, don’t show, and 2) unlike Dimitri, he is never given the chance to try and fail, be criticized, and then grow from that. I recommend reading @butwhatifidothis’s pinned post on how to improve Claude and Verdant Wind (or even just the summary of each chapter of that essay, if you are short on time), to see how his story could have been told soooooo much better.

Also, honorable mentions to Rhea (she needed supports and she should have been playable in Silver Snow), Petra (her entire support with Edelgard, she should have been recruitable post time skip in AM/VW/SS), Hapi (her character development grinds to a halt, unless you get her paired ending with Ashe, basically), and Dedue (it’s complete bs that he lives or dies depending on whether you do his paralogue or not and he really should have been there for many of the part 2 scenes, especially the one with Kleiman’s man confessing about the Tragedy of Duscur).

P.S.: Claude’s S support with Byleth is one of my least favorite S supports in the entire game. I won’t spoil it for you here, since I know you’re doing a blind playthrough and last I read you had not yet played the final month of Verdant Wind, but suffice to say it made me wonder if divorce is legal in Fodlan/Almyra.
