Easy DIY fingerless gloves by Elina Männistö; found via Kotona. (NB. Finnish only.) Infinite possibilities for variation with yarn selection, or you could adapt a fair isle pattern, for instance.

just made finger loves out of plush socks ad its so gay i love it omg go do it now.

this guide is made for mid length socks.

instructions: if your socks have holes, fix them now, before we begin. cut off the part of your sock where the heel ends, so it kinda looks like a no-show sock. now, put it aside. or do this part first idc. take the ankle part, and sew the cut-off seam (you dont need to sew the top) put it on your hand. if it cut off your circulation, then idk what to do that didint happen to me. anyway, put the sock over your hand, and mark the part where your thumbnail would cut if it were a knife, not the base of your thumb. cut it, and sew the edges. make sure the hole isnt to small so your thumb's circulation doesnt get cut off. boom gloves. now, take the ankle part, and sew the edges. boom. really small arm warmers. repeat for the other side, and congrats. you have have gloves and arm warmer thingys. this works best with fluffy/plush lined socks (so its comfortable). if something bad happens, not my fualt. listen to the sountrack/watch heartstopper while you make this, for +10 gay points. (also it has great songs). you could prob make this with both parts connected, or switch some shit around, but i only had 1 pair of socks to spare, so youre just gonna have to experiment.

Tips for all of my alternative & Chronically ill/ disabled friends!

A big thing that's helped me feel more comfortable accommodating my disability is finding accessibility tools that reflect my personality / interests.

I should put a disclaimer that making disability "aesthetic" should not be the most important thing about your health! I do this where I can to help me accept my disability.

Here are some alt accessibility tools I've found / made & utilized for myself!

1. If you're prone to nausea:

Anti-nausea meds work, but I also find that peppermints work just as well! I always have mints on me. At home, I've stored them in this coffin container!

I do keep a few of these mints in my bag, as well as ginger hard candies (they taste very strong, but are VERY efficient). I got the peppermints at Dollar tree, and they've genuinely been a life saver.

Alternatively, I've found this adorable ouija board altoids container that has mints in it!

The mints are even fun-shaped! I also saw other horror-movie themed altoid containers in-store as well. Since they're tiny, they dont work well for severe nausea, but they are still helpful!

2. If you struggle with temperature-regulation:

For me, my hands and feet are always FREEZING, but my core will be super warm. What has helped me a lot has been gloves and fuzzy socks!

I have a lot of spooky gloves like this, but I prefer the fingerless ones because I can still use my phone and be warm at the same time! I've also heard my friends who are wheelchair users say gloves can help protect your hands if you use a manual wheelchair. Another added bonus is that certain gloves can help limit mobility for those of you who struggle with hypermobility in your hands.

3. Do you have noise-canceling headphones? Decorate them!

I decorated my N/C headphones in shark stickers because sharks are my special interest!

These are Soundcore Life Q30's. I have gotten compliments on the stickers many times! You could put halloween stickers on yours or decorate your headphones in other ways! I've seen people crochet horns onto the headband portion of their headphones.

4. I would recommend any chronically ill person carry a cup around to stay hydrated:

ESPECIALLY If you need electrolytes. You can either have a drink like propel or powerade in your cup (or any drink of your choice, and you could put electrolyte packets in there).

This specific cup isn't the best at keeping my drink cold, but it holds a decent amount of liquid! And it's spooky. If you're someone who struggles to drink enough water, I've found that getting a fun cup helps me a lot!

5. Make communication bracelets!

If I'm having a difficult time voicing my needs, or I'm in a verbal shutdown, these bracelets can come in handy for me.

I'll either wear them on my wrist when needed or present them to my friends so they can read the bracelet and understand what I need. I keep them on a keychain that way I dont lose them and can transport them easily. An example of some of the phrases I've turned into bracelets is; "No spoons," "spoon debt," "verbal shutdown," and "flashbacks," (for when I'm having a PTSD episode.) You could make a bracelet with the medical condition you have as a DIY medical-alert bracelet. I added tiny spoon charms to some of my bracelets because I thought it was funny.

5. Mobility aids!

Decorate your mobility aids with things like stickers, kandi, lights, etc! Pinterest, instagram, and tiktok have a lot of good ideas. You can easily customize your mobility aids to look spooky or look however you want them to!

6. Bags!

I know that for me, I NEED to carry a bag around whenever I go out because it has important medical items that I need, but it also keeps all my important items like keys, id, ect, in one spot so that I dont forget / lose them. SOME spooky bags are expensive, but you could find a plain black bag at a thrift store or walmart and accessorize it with patches, keychains, and pins! I've seen people paint designs onto their bags before as well.

• You dont have to spend a lot of money on your accessibility tools!

Find ways to DIY them, or get them secondhand! You could even try working with household items you already have! A lot of these items, or items very similar to it, can be found at the dollar tree - even the materials needed to make the beaded bracelets! (Outside of the spoon charms)

Not on the gloves YET but on a denim hat I'm gonna wear for Halloween. I was home sick from school so I had some time to finish it (I started it the other night & finished it yesterday)

But anyway I also put a pocket onto 1 of my gloves :> still working on it but I think it's going good :> I made it with the scraps left from the toe. I'm probobly gonna put chapstick or pins in there or smth maybe a very tiny journal

I'd like to introduce you to my son, I have yet to give them a name ;> FIY i suggest doing the bigger button 1st by itself to make sure it isnt too lose, it should be fine but the green eye is just a little loose & it bugs me a bit. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I should have sewed the closing thing the other way- meh idk lol we'll see i can always try other things w/ the other side (cause I want a pocket on both sides)

I'm planning on making another couple pairs w/ these dollar store socks, while we were there i also got an embroidery hoop

I took long socks cut a hole in the heel for my thumb, cut off the toes, cut slits to make individual finger bits, sewed up the fingers, then I cut some parts off the toe bits to make the thumb holes bigger :>

it has been way too long again since i posted some new diy stuff on here, but i have an excuse, i kinda had a craft burnout, luckily exams started last week and i needed to procrastinate (is that how you spell that word?) anyway i made some stuff, behold.

started work on my battlejacket again finally. after totally stripping it and washing it i repatched it a bit. very proud of how the backpatch turned out + the eye glows in the dark which is cool

made some patches and sewed one on my army shirt to make it less army and more anarchy

made another choker, this one has a clasp thingie on the front so you can easily attach charms to it

made two pairs of fingerless gloves from socks and a werewolf flag button with a buttonmaker i got as a present

lastly made some necklaces from a used siringe for my t-shots, (i tasted the droplet of testosterone left in it, very chemical taste not fun wouldnt recommend) and one from a piece of antler i sewed off one of the antlers i own

yea so thats it for now, been working on my patch pants, the second phase is almost done so ill be posting those soon. also reminds me i gotta answer some asks.

doll mail arrived! this time, we’re taking a look at skulltimate secrets 4! featuring an all new packaging, completely different from the last 3 lines. these dolls retail for 29.99 each.

one change i already like- you can partially see the doll through the gates. this should hopefully curb the problem of people removing the doll, then turning it back into the store with nothing in the locker, since it’s blind packaging.

with this new setup, you can’t see them *well* but you can tell if the right doll is in there. you can also see if the paper accessory packs are in there as well.

i opened draculaura first. here’s the gate with no cardboard on it.

here she is freed. i realized i did the gimmick completely wrong lol, you’re supposed to build a little thing to put in the center slot and then push the doll up to reveal her. or you can do what i did and just pull the doll out through the top.

she has poly hair, though i think it’s treated in some way. it doesn’t feel toooo bad… and well, i really like the color for this drac so….

face carddddddd… this is a really cute drac! i love how much more they’re leaning into a dark lip with her. though this bold heart over one eye might make her a little more difficult to restyle.

since skulltimate secrets is a deluxe line, they come with a lot of stuff. a second set of shoes, sweat shorts, leg warmers, fingerless gloves, a headset, a bodice piece, a bag, what i think is a little keychain for the bag, a water bottle, hairbrush, hangers, pieces to the gate slider, and a stand clip.

shoe check btw. the heel-less heels add a LOT of height. apprecuate that theres printing on these shoes, not just a gradient etc.

here’s the first outfit set, the stage set. super cute! i love the fabric tights. though, im slightly bothered by the pink part of the bodice being a different shade of pink to any other piece on her…. lol.

here she is in her second outfit, the practice outfit! definitely cute, though i think more fun for play factor for kids. i think the first outfit is more displayable.

fun thing they added: you can now hang up the spare clothes in the actual gate! this was actually a DIY a lot of people did with the old skulltimate lockers, so i’m happy to see it included officially with these.

you are also able to clip the dolls to the gate itself with the provided stand clip! unfortunately, putting it on the lowest option is *still* too tall for drac, who is floating a little off the ground when shes clipped in with these shoes. i’ll still be using my own stand.

Wow. Xie Lianhuan is not very bright. No wonder Wu Sanxing didn't want him on the expedition.

Oh! The trio is totally giving me Kirk, Spock, McCoy vibes! Wu Xie the gregarious leader and the glue that holds them together. Xiao-ge the stoic, hyper competent one. Fatty the grumpy emotional one. Wu Xie and Xiao-ge have this intense bond where they rely on and protect eachother. Wu Xie and Fatty have a playful, teasing relationship that is part of a deep friendship. Fatty and Xiao-ge have an antagonist relationship where they're always taking shots at each other. No wonder I love them so much!

Is there a name used for the trio? For tagging purposes?

Xiao-ge's outfit this season looks so cozy. Also the sleeves with thumb holes are an acceptable alternative to the fingerless gloves. He better have some variation of them in every season.

Uuummm. UUUMMM. How are Xiao-ge and Fatty not noticing this??? Why has Wu Xie not said anything?? She's completely wrapped around him.

Did they just throw a DIY molotov cocktail at the hair ghost and Fatty. *crying* Maybe I really shouldn't have expected Xiao-ge to be the one to stop Wu Xie from almost blowing himself up and then burning down the forest in the last season.
