Leaving Home before 18: A Practical Guide for Cast-Offs, Runaways, and Everybody in Between
Teens are often labeled as highly emotional, irrational, volatile, impulsive, short-sighted monsters. This is pretty fucking unfair. Everyone is different. Many people are wise and mature beyond their years—or foolish and immature despite them.
However: science suggests that teenage brains are still changing and developing. In fact, we now know that the brain doesn’t fully mature until age twenty-five.
Ask people in their thirties and forties about their teenage years, and almost everyone goes pale at the memory of how wild it felt. For me, everything felt incredibly intense. Every day brimmed with opportunity for catastrophic highs and lows. Aging sorts a lot of things out—like a warped funhouse mirror slowly straightening out into something trustworthy.
You’re not crazy. And you’re not wrong. But you are neurologically different than your parents—and different than you will be when you’re their age.

[a promotional picture of Sam and Dean Winchester, Sam on the left and Dean on the right, their images from circa 2010. They both stare challengingly into the camera with their arms crossed, though Dean also holds a large blade. The background is a two lane blacktop with an older style of power line and corn on either side. At the top and bottom are flames. Sam says "im restricting", Dean says "and im bingeing" and the flaming text gif at the bottom reads "the eating disorder brothers.]
image description end.
#theyre both so unwell#grew up in a financially unstable environment and coped opposite ways.#and i left it broad on purpose bc theres a lot of ways you can interpret their weird shit about food#bc i too am deeply unwell i counted every time sam eats on screen (not sits next to a plate of food–actually puts it in his mouth) and its#22 times. less than twice a season. i realize this could be in large part bc jared didnt want to have to act that but im choosing to Believe#not in him but my mentally ill agenda. bc you wanna look at me and say that hes totally normal aboht this when he has a guilt complex#autonomy issues a holdup with purity/cleanliness a boatload of self-loathing and an obsession with control.#and this feels familiar so just message or comment for credit or removal :)#i dont mean to plagiarize#also i didnt talk about it much but. dean definitely sees food as an assurance of safety and turns to it when under duress to the point of#excess. and also gets very specific and protective/territorial about his food.#so.#this is a silly meme but there are so many thoughts behind it#sam winchester#dean winchester#spn#ed mention

Take heed, ladies.
In recent times some women have begun to recognize that marriage is a scam. From its earliest inception as a legal institution it was enforced to prevent women from being unaccompanied by men and to ensure that no woman would have property or assets of her own that would not be inheritable or accessible by men. This is why the early witch hunts targeted women who owned their own property and were not married to a man, because upon marriage that property and all other assets that woman held would be under the jurisdiction of a man as well as control over her labor and the “right” to have sex with her. Ownership of “property”
Remember that marital rape — non consensual sex with a wife — was legal and is still legal in many places throughout the US and many don't consider it rape because they think that women agree to be controlled or dominated, considered as property when they marry a man. Marriage was designed and functioned as a transfer of power from women to men to uphold a patriarchal order where men are the only sovereign citizens and women exist as their servants and satellites.
Now that women can work outside of the household and do it all some women have taken the stance that there is no way for a woman to benefit by marriage. As women recognize this men are crying to enforce policies that would trap women with them and limit women's rights, forcing women back into the household as encaged domestic workers to men with no financial independence—because that financial independence is what it took for women to realize marriage was not worth it to them whether it be for love or for money. They valued (and still value) their freedom and autonomy and safety more. Men benefit by marriage by design.
These men feel entitled, not seeing women as human beings but as objects for them to use. Everything should benefit them, they do not believe in equality but in superiority. It makes room for absent or ghost patriarchy where Men refuse to raise their children or provide for women, yet want the benefits of patriarchy without actually functioning as patriarchs. These are failed men. This refusal to raise, protect, provide and plan for their bloodlines, their own image, their own spouse is called failure. It is a complete abandonment of manhood.
These failed men are (and should be) treated as if they don't exist because, quite literally they don't. They leave their bloodlines vacant; they erased themselves. They are ghosts.
But why do so many women worship these ghosts? Because they've been programmed and conditioned to believe these ghosts will materialize into men. They haven't.
But a spell is a spell.
Take heed ladies.

Sterilization Survivors Who Won Reparations Now Face Another Challenge—Getting It | The Nation
Between 2005 and 2013, California sterilized over 850 people in women’s prisons. More than 400 of those sterilizations had been arranged by Heinrich, who in a 2013 interview with Reveal justified these sterilizations by saying it saved “in welfare paying for these unwanted children—as they procreated more.” Following Reveal’s exposé, the federal receiver overseeing prison medical care barred Heinrich from prison work. And the press officer for California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS), which administers prison health care, told The Nation that, when CCHCS became aware of these sterilization procedures, it stopped them and provided training to ensure they did not recur in the future. California lawmakers banned sterilization for the practices of birth control within the state’s jails and prisons in 2014.
For years after these revelations of sterilization abuse, advocates, including the legal organization Justice Now, the California Coalition for Women Prisoners, and formerly incarcerated women, pushed for financial reparations for people who had been sterilized while imprisoned. Their efforts stalled in the legislature three times, but on July 12, 2021, lawmakers passed it as part of the state budget, making California the first state to offer financial compensation for sterilization survivors.
But since the program passed, some current and formerly incarcerated women and trans men say they have struggled to receive compensation, or have been denied outright, while several others told The Nation that they never received applications from the compensation board.

The True Essence of Freedom
We all crave freedom and believe it's our right, but true freedom requires effort, ownership, and accountability. Freedom spans across various aspects of life—your body, beliefs, thoughts, values, relationships, and finances.
Unfortunately, it’s easy to feel trapped in any of these areas—like you’ve lost control or external forces are against you. To truly value freedom, you need to stay in the driver’s seat of your life.
Freedom is not free.
To feel free in your body, you must make daily sacrifices. Master the art of delayed gratification—invest in your health now to reap the rewards later. It might sound militant, but it’s the truth. Those who feel free in their health have earned it through consistency and confidence. On the other hand, those who neglect their health pay a greater price later, both physically and mentally.
Living in a free country doesn’t mean you are truly free.
You aren’t free unless you practice freedom. If you don’t pursue it physically, mentally, financially, and spiritually, you’ll end up constrained or imprisoned in some area of your life.
This is the freedom paradigm. When we take freedom for granted, it eventually constrains us.
For example, many people feel financially trapped due to inflation—not because of their actions but because they were passive. They didn’t protect their purchasing power or educate themselves about the changing environment. Now they’re financially trapped, losing hope for the future as their savings dwindle.
Financial freedom is an illusion unless you actively create it.
The same applies to physical health and wellbeing. It’s your birthright, but it’s not free. To feel free in your body, you must continually invest in your health and wellness—it comes at a cost. If you don’t pay that cost, you’ll eventually feel confined in your own body.
Emotional freedom isn’t free either. You need to create an atmosphere that fosters emotional happiness. Society and mainstream media often create an environment that breeds fear and anxiety.
Emotional freedom requires surrounding yourself with positive influences, uplifting messages, and tools that build self-confidence and inspire greatness. This is the opposite of emotional confinement, which leaves you feeling depleted and helpless.
Spiritual freedom is equally important. Cultivating faith and connecting to a higher power opens the door to grace and divine intervention, enhancing our sense of freedom.
Spiritual and emotional well-being significantly impact our ability to cultivate freedom in our lives.
But again, freedom is not free. To be truly free, take control of your life. Build a stronger version of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.
It takes courage, belief, and pursuit—but it’s worth it.
I want you to BE free and FEEL free.
Whatever constraints are holding you back, take action today to tear down those walls. Do it for yourself, your loved ones, and for the good of humanity. Live, love, and value FREEDOM.
