This has to be the last thing I say on C3 finale because otherwise, I will not stop, it simply baffles me in its mediocrity. And obviously, this will be negative, if you loved it, good for you, this is my takeaway as someone who loved this campaign and was severely let down.

This finale changes everything that came before and not for good, better yet, it emphasizes all the faults in the structure of what c3 tried to be, it made most of the campaign feel like a true exercise in futility — How far can we go in a campaign that is meandering and unsatisfying? How long can we have the same discussion over and over and over again despite everyone knowing how this will end? How long can we drag out characters that don't change without anyone noticing? (spoiler everyone noticed)

Can't say I was emotionally invested in the finale because I tapped out back in the 70s, came back for Aeor/Downfall shenanigans, and left again. But in experiencing the finale something became clear to me:

THIS STORY NEEDED TO BE SHORTER.

WITH ANOTHER PARTY AT THE HELM.

If the objective from the very conception of C3 was to wipe out the gods, that had to be clear from the very start. And it wasn't clear, at all — not in the characters, not in the starting city, not in theme. This was a completely different campaign at the start! That clarity was what made Calamity so great, it was short and precise, and every pc SERVICED THE THEME, filled with hubris and contempt, not to mention the setting.

Even Ludinus went in circles for convenience of the campaign length and became a weaker opponent for it, more of a nuisance than a villain. The threat he posed at episode 50 was much stronger than now at 120 something. The battle against Otohan was more nail-biting and emotionally engaging than fighting Ludinus and Predathos, a god eater!!!!

This campaign would've benefited from three to four acts instead of one overarching objective like the past campaigns because urgency is the name of the game and we can't carry urgency for 70 episodes straight (and they didn't).

The constant inclusion of the other parties made it clear how easy it was to detach BH from the story, how easy and fun it was for them to tell it through another party's eyes (one of the main reasons why I walked away back when I did, but that's more of a personal preference).

Which is not to say Bells Hell's didn't deserve a long story! They could very well have existed in a more intimate campaign which these characters were clearly built for! Their premises begged for closer looks in slow moments, something tragicomical, exploration of the inner world while developing MARQUET and its microcosm of injustice and politics which was left in the dust mid-campaign (pun intended).

And I'm not suggesting this just for our enjoyment, I know it's them playing and their enjoyment comes first blah blah, though this is a multi-million company therefore their jobs but this would contribute to their enjoyment! You could see several moments in the campaign how tapped out they felt and acted. I doubt it was "fun" discussing the gods situation ad naseaum, trudging through landscapes they barely cared about, with empty arcs.

I could nitpick every fault I see in the finale but it would be pointless, these issues have been dragged from ages ago and poor character matching, and now this is a culmination of everything and it barely fazes me anymore.

(And yeah it's their game and it's "free", but that doesn't undermine its weight as a story, stories were made be analyzed, and it was a poorly structured one no matter how much I still like and admire them as people.)

WHICH is not to say I had no fun at all ever, I did! several times! and that's what makes me upset, it could've been great instead is just meh.

Sexter headcanons

Because its pride month and they deserve it

They will bicker over the dumbest things

Like dexter will acvidently leave the jar jam open and saracen will start fake bawling his eyes out

This started when the dead men needed a morale boost or cheering up but became normal very quickly

They are the original "havent seen eachother in a year but act like they saw eachother yesterday" couple

Once they went 30 years without seeing eachother and they barely recognized the other

In saracens defense it was during Dexter's hippy phase

Speaking of that, dexter has banned the words hippies, beards and the country of Vietnam in his apartment

He thinks saracen would take the piss out of him, hes right

They really dont go on proper dates a lot, they prefer travelling together and just being around eachother

But when they do go on dates they usually have alcohol involved

Neither handle drink responsibly around the other and it has lead to some instances

Anton is very sick of picking them up from the local jail in whatever city they partied at

Neither want to properly settle, have kids at the moment or stop travelling

Its convenient and means neither have the issues they had in previous relationships

Overall they are perfect for eachother

it's a mixture of many things coming together that goes into Talon keeping up with the happenings in the West. Firstly, as a being that even has the vast history to know of the legends, it's kind of a designated duty to collect and keep old tales and prophecies, not like anyone else is going to keep records; 'since the real prophets were killed for their truths long ago.'

There are few things that threaten the stranglehold of a rule the Devils have over the West, which meant for demons a playground of souls to torment too. Fire and brimstone is all well and good, but the wind over your face or the smoke from freshly fallen pine needles is something else, addictive. Gunslingers are few and far between, and Angels are a legend spoken on hopeful fools tongues. Anything that could dare even hold an ounce of real defiance against the Sulfur Rail and it's King will mean that gateway between Hell and earth gets a lot further again. And if the old legends are to be believed, it might even end up being that there's no longer a West to buy a ticket to.

As both a frequent rider of the Sulfur Rail and someone still kicking around the West, Talon would very much prefer everything stay as it is. Sure, it ain't good times, but it sure as hell could be a lot worse. But what Talon's wanted has never really been a strong deciding factor in anything, and they see the Harbingers less so as a potential warning, and something that will come to pass with nothing to stop them.

Having all the time in the dying world to think about prophecies and legends can give one the ability to draw conclusions that have no right connecting. But one instance involving the death of an Angel, and the Second Harbinger being such a holy being could leave a sinner to twiddle their thumbs in anticipation to see if they had played a part in all of this. Might make one even regret their actions.

And finally, this strange affliction in Talon's chest giving them foreign feelings of things such as 'empathy', 'guilt' and a 'conscious' has made them contemplate the agony that they've played no small part in. Looking back on all they and other hellspawn have done, and the sad state of the world, gives their pessimistic outlook something to bite into, and accept that the only good thing that could come of this world is to raze it all.

oh oh here's a lore tidbit I've been ruminating on. Most Mizrieta don't have "living" bodies (like with metabolism n stuff) because shapeshifting makes that really difficult. Mizrieta shapeshifting is pretty manual so if you wanted to change your Alive body shape you run the risk of fucking up all your Alive bits by accidentally moving them too far out of shape, so to speak.

anyways, without metabolism, and consuming stuff for energy, Mizrieta can get energy for things by pulling heat out of the air instead. this means that cold climates or winter seasons are less kind to them, which is something humans try to capitalize on. most surviving human settlements are in colder areas, and winter is typically the 'safest' season, as Mizrieta will either be less active, or even migrate elsewhere should the weather be poor enough.

THIS in turn impacts mail delivery. Can't remember if I've talked about Livon Post Runners before, but they're basically like special mailmen that deliver Livon property, data, samples, etc. (and sometimes normal mail). one of the things they would be delivering is base black samples for cloning, which Mizrieta would be tempted to steal or kill for. So because winter is a safer time, most base black deliveries are concentrated in the winter months for safety reasons.

Now, base black does not need to be delivered to a cloning site immediately before a clone is made, but it's generally best not to wait too long. Base black tends to decay when not in use, and keeping it "fresh" for long periods can be a drain on resources. so basically. there's an accidental winter birthday bias with clones because most the time their ingredients get sent to the cloning machines in winter.
