An ad for Foto Folks, from the back of a photo processing envelope from 1990. I've been helping my wife's family deal with the estate of her late uncle, who saved a lot of paper. This is a good thing and a bad thing. I've been saving little bits of this and that, and hope to share more of them as we continue to excavate his condo and storage units.

There are still a lot of great photo labs in Tokyo- my favorite local shop is YELLOW JACKET near Sendagi station on the Chiyoda subway line.
They offer same-day 500 yen processing for 35mm & 120 color color film. Highly recommended- in Japan but not Tokyo? They also offer film processing through the mail.

Six (6) Tips on Fixing Film
by Johnny Martyr I was developing some personal photos today and it occurred to me that the fixing step seems to be a point of many questions and issues. So I thought it might be useful to dedicate an entry about fixing specifically. Some of this will bleed over into color but I’m a b&w shooter so take that as being the orientation here. Let’s get started! 1–Use Liquid, Not Powder Fix I’m…

I’m thinking about Mahito’s great great uncle maintaining and preserving a peaceful and beautiful thing in a way that to an outside observer looks tedious and unimportant, hoping to pass the duty off to a successor but ultimately he cannot find one and dies with it.
I’m thinking about the specificity of the blocks being made and handled with care, not with malice or ill intent.
I’m thinking about Hayao Miyazaki, a bastion of beautiful 2d hand drawn animation who refuses to retire.
I’m thinking about a world where animation is so rarely made with love over profit and efficiency.
I’m thinking about how, though the old man didn’t see it, the next generation still hangs onto a piece of that beautiful, tedious thing and takes it with them because it feels important.
I’m thinking about Mahito being told he should forget, but no. He shouldn’t.

First film in 20 years
Back to B&W film it felt good to do something that I was very good at.
I just processed my first two rolls of Black and White film in 20 years. It was sometime in 2003, that I last used a roll of film and now with using a new film camera, I have just processed two rolls of Rollei Retro 400 that expired in 2010. One of these rolls of film went to Australia and got x-rayed only once. And that was in England leaving the country, I have always found the English customs…

I have a gallery coming soon of the images I took with my first two rolls of actual film. I need to figure out which ones I wish to publish and how to best go about it. When I go to do that, it will be on @eddieverite and will have details on the process.
If you are interested in how to reload a camera, I published a video on my YouTube channel for how to reload the Olympus XA
Reloading the Olympus XA

And the quick version

Please feel free to let me know what you think on it! Thanks!

monkey man promo interviews r just like oh yeah dev patel broke multiple bones during the action scenes and he simply shoved a screw into his hand and moved on and the sets kept burning down and the cameras were malfunctioning and we spent half a year editing a segment in a scene and we were trapped in an island for months and the crew was marrying n divorcing each other in total soap opera fashion but whatever we made it because if there's a will there's a way <3

Since we are specialized printing solution provider, you can expect the super quality and fines printing quality. Saw someone say on twitter „luke experienced subdrop and needed aftercare“ and I haven’t stopped thinking about this video/interview/comment bc I REALLY hope the producers are aware how much their actors are doing for this show and are taking proper care of them (e.g. having competent intimacy coordinators).

Larry, Moe & Curly: The Secret to Flat Negatives
By Johnny Martyr If you process your own film and don’t live in the tropics, you’ve probably run into an annoying problem that I see discussed in forums ad nauseam – curly and cupped film negatives. Let me set the scene: you’ve just taken some great photos, you’ve processed the film successfully and when you hold the still wet images up to the light for the first time, they look amazing. You…

Just found out about the tiktok Goncharov rip off and honestly the thing that bothers me the most is that it’s called Zepotha. Like who would name an obscure 80’s slasher film like that one reddit cockroach wife and not something like “Clown Castle Massacre” like do these people know how slashers work??? Do you hate fun??
