Better Raw Image Processing with DxO PureRAW3
Explore Raw Image Processing with DxO's PureRAW3
With this post I am doing some experimenting. As some of you may know I currently work for DxO as their UK Product Liaison and part of my role is in promoting DxO software. When DxO’s PureRaw3 came out I used around a bit with it then deleted it, as I no longer use Adobe Lightroom. As I use PhotoLab7 for processing my raw files, I don’t need to have Lightroom or DxO PureRAW3 installed to get the…

An Expensive way to digitise film.
I have been looking into scanning my film and I just found this option, which would be great for doing all of my old images pre digital. It would still mean I would need to buy a macro lens for either my Nikon D850 or my Leica M11. I would prefer the macro for the Leica M11 as it has a higher resolution sensor, however the cheapest I can find a Marco lens for the M11 is about £2500. So add that…

Plustek Film scanners
As you all know I have recently gotten back into film photography or as it was known when I started photography. for the past 20 years I have been doing digital photography. Once I started to use digital cameras I never looked back to film, as using it had kept me poor for a long time. I did not realise when digital came along that it would really change the photography industry in more ways than…

Say Hi to my Mum!
This image was made on my new Leica MA, and I am not quite happy with the scanning. So right now I am looking at alternatives as I was trying to use Epson’s wet scanning kit for the Epson v750 that I have. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to get the film to stay flat on the scanner bed, as it has a curl in it. And I ended up with what looks like a water mark in this scanned version and the image is…

First film in 20 years
Back to B&W film it felt good to do something that I was very good at.
I just processed my first two rolls of Black and White film in 20 years. It was sometime in 2003, that I last used a roll of film and now with using a new film camera, I have just processed two rolls of Rollei Retro 400 that expired in 2010. One of these rolls of film went to Australia and got x-rayed only once. And that was in England leaving the country, I have always found the English customs…

Talking about the system
We all live within systems, some we don’t see because they are part of the political world that we inhabit and some because they are the natural world around us. For example we do not see the systems that create the air that we breathe some of these systems are busy polluting that very same air that we breathe and others would if allowed provide us with clean air that would be good for our…

Using the Trusty Nikon FM2 again
I decided to try out my old trusty film camera today out today and see if I liked the process. I think I have been hanging out to much in trendy places once again and want to shoot film again for some reason. I think it might be related to the rise of Ai Imaging or Dall-E and MidJourney as image making alternatives to photography. I know that good photographers are resourceful and will find ways…
