Dude some of those popular so-bad-its-good movies are unironically outsider art and I don’t think they get enough appreciation for that

#Neil breen is absolutely an outsider artist #Mark Regions ‘after last season’ is an outsider art film #yes they are bad movies but they are so unique in how they’re made #the decisions don’t really make sense bc they aren’t rly drawing from how other films are made #or from any technical knowledge of film making #those decisions are entirely from whatever is going on in the creators mind lol #of course the most popular one of them all The Room also is outsider art #genuinely very cool to me that the movie is so beloved lol #like yeah it’s enjoyed in an ironic way it’s unintentional comedy #but I think a big part of that enjoyment comes from the insanity of it #it’s so uniquely Tommy Wiseau no one else could have made it #these movies are SO sinciere

Ah fuck it, I CALL UPON THE FREV COMMUNITY FOR ASSISTANCE (please). Right, I'm writing this essay for my socials class that nobody asked me to write but hey I'm doing it anyways for "fun" and basically what I'm asking here is for anyone who has watched a bunch of those French Revolution films that portray Robespierre as an awful tyrant (and also queercoded) and such like to please infodump on me about these films. I'm trying to write about how films and similar media like these play into how a large majority of society view him as a brutal dictator responsible for the Reign of Terror (barely) so yeah uh... please help me if you have the time, I would greatly appreciate it. I myself have never watched the films and knowing how they go about portraying Robespierre would be greatly appreciated.

This was based on my own review. Specifically this part:

"Dang, Shadow was callous. He just let Sonic fall to the earth! I mean... at least let him try to save him for a bit or something. Then Knuckles and Tails appeared, telling Shadow to focused on the Eclipse Canon for now while they handle Sonic. This way, we could see that Shadow did try to establish a camaraderie with Sonic. That he did try to forgive and change."

the absolute lack of media literacy from people who haven’t even seen oppenheimer is making my head spin but whatever

#like - every three seconds it’s someone talking about how it’s us military prop or it doesn’t cover the atrocities well etc etc #when a) it is so definitely NOT us propoganda- it is so clearly critiquing the us military and oppenheimer himself #and b) it doesn’t cover every small detail of the impacts of the bomb bc that’s not what the film is about #it is a screenplay adapted from a biography on oppenheimer #it is about him - a biopic - and how he got to the point of making atomic weapons and ends on a note of undeniable horror #it is a movie that constantly bombards you with anxiety bc you have the burden of knowing the future #it is not in any way forgiving anything - it acknowledges the fucked up nature of the situation #hell it’s mostly a courtroom drama that shows how fucked up mccarthyism was #i’m a big history buff - so this plays a lot into it #but y’all have GOT to just stop seeinf things on a surface level and engage with media w/ a deeper mindset of just ‘thing bad’#anyway - sorry it bothers me a lot #there are genuine criticims that can be leveled at both nolan and this film and i have seen them #im not sitting here calling the end all be all of cinema - but it’s a well made movie w/ something interesting to say and evaluate #not wanting to see it is one thing - by all means - but wringing it through the mud w/ absolutely no knowledge of the actual content of -#the film itself is actively annoying #media literacy #oppenheimer #mini rant
