Glasses
Fandom//Sander Sides
Part 2/?
Warning: Swearing
Story Written by:
@a-rat-called-remus and @viva-gardens
Remus' mind immediately wandered off as his brother continued to shout at the others.
It was a surprise Roman hadn't noticed Remus.
He had stared at him two times in a row when he was addressing all of them. And every time Roman's eyes landed on Remus, whether it was just a second, a new jolt of panic came ricocheting off of him nearly knocking the breath out of Virgil. Stuck in the storm that was raging in Remus' head.
He didn't know how to stop it.
He didn't know how to help.
It was clear now that the glasses weren't the only thing causing this. It was Roman. Roman was part of the problem. A major part. Remus' anxiety spiked every time Roman's eyes moved his way.
Which wasn't Remus-like behavior.
He never seemed to care about his appearance or whatever people thought of him.
Thomas seemed to be in his own little world.
Roman snaps his fingers. "Hello? Thomas! Are you even listening?"
Roman's voice snaps him out of the trance. Thomas startles, his head jerking up to face Roman before.
Thomas looked around to see everyone in their assigned spots. Which was odd . . .
Not to mention he hadn't summoned any of them Not willingly at least. Had he summoned them subconsciously? I mean sure Thomas was facing yet another dilemma. Nothing new. That was normal. But if Thomas had summoned every figment of himself maybe it was way worse than he thought. Usually it was just the core sides that were summoned whether it be intentional or not. But he had seemed to have summoned Janus and Remus as well. Thomas could feel the tsunami of anxiety radiating off of Virgil.
Thomas stared at the others in surprise.
"Roman, what do you mean?"
Roman looks at him and blinks "What?"
"I didn't summon you guys." Thomas states.
"You didn't?" Roman asked, he looked as confused as Thomas. If Thomas hadn't summoned them . . .
"No." Thomas shook his head. "I didn't."
Thomas started to worry more. A good 50% was probably from Virgil, basically radiating bad energy, but why were they here?
Patton, Logan, Virgil and Janus turn to look at Thomas.
They all had been thinking the same thing.
"Huh," Patton says after a while.
Logan looks around the room. "Well, there has to be a reason why we're all here. If Thomas didn't do it intentionally like he claims, well . . He had to have done it subconsciously, which isn't strange considering it's happened in the past but it usually meant there was something that was hurting Thomas." He states. It was strange and it certainly wasn't good. Like he had stated this was most certainly not the first time this has happened but how big could the situation be for all of them to be summoned? For once Logan looked confused.
Unlike Roman and most of the sides Logan had noticed Remus. He didn't look too well himself.
He seemed to be in a rough state himself, he seemed to be as anxious as Thomas and Virgil.
Which would explain why Virgil was more on edge than usual. He was absorbing Remus' anxiety and panic which definitely wasn't any help to Thomas.
"Not all of us are here. Thankfully."
Logan jerks his head in Roman's direction raising both of his eyebrows.
"No. I believe everyone is here." His eyes darted around the room again to take count of everyone. And as expected and not to his surprise, everyone was indeed present.
Roman. Patton. Janus. Remus and himself.
Logan looks back at Roman. "Yes. As I stated everyone is present, you're just not observant."
"Well, you're wrong." Roman shoots back.
Janus looks between Roman and Logan.
"May I ask who you believe is missing from this mess of a group?"
Roman turns to face him. "Isn't it obvious! Have you failed notice that a certain someone isn't here? That for once it is actually peaceful!"
Janus blinked at Roman, his lips twitching upwards. Curling into a smile.
His eyes flickered in between the Anxious and Princely side where Remus stood unusually quiet and distracted.
Janus' eyes had a glint to them.
He opened his mouth to speak, to correct Roman.
To tell him he was wrong.
That Remus was standing right beside him.
But just as he was going to speak he felt a pair of eyes boring through him. The set of eyes belonged to Virgil.
He was staring him down. Glaring daggers at him.
Those same eyes were begging.
Saying something that not just anyone could understand. Those eyes had a look in them.
A look that can only be described as, "don't."
He stared back, the smile fading as quickly as it had formed.
He looked back at Remus.
And it was suddenly clear what that look meant.
Remus was in a vulnerable state, and Janus hadn't even noticed. Sure, he noticed Remus wasn't talking nor doing anything destructive but he hadn't realized that he was in such distress.
He was supposed to be his friend, yet he hadn't realized the obvious, for once, Remus didn't want to be noticed.
The once obnoxious and carefree Duke was trying his best to hide himself.
Keep himself unnoticed.
Remus was scared. Terrified.
He didn't want anyone to see him.
Anyone meaning Roman.
Roman would make fun of him.
He would laugh and make jokes.
So, Remus stood in his spot, silent as he could be.
I'm feeling more anxious than I probably should be. Thomas thought.
"Virgil? Are you okay? I feel really anxious, and I know it's coming from you. I mean, you're anxiety. So, unless another one of the sides is that anxious, it would be you, right?" Thomas asked quietly.
Virgil was too busy trying to ground himself before jerking his up at Thomas.
So, Remus stood in his spot, silent as he could be.
He just really hoped his tentacles wouldn't do anything. He was overstimulated and usually when that happened they would---
Remus then heard a loud, SLAP. He turned and saw one of his tentacles backing away from Roman's face.
Roman whipped around and glared at Remus.
"WHAT THE F*CK WAS THAT? WHY DID YOU SLAP ME?" Roman screamed.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!" Remus shouted back unfortunately it came out more as a whimper.
He sounded pathetic.
Roman scoffed.
"Didn't mean to? DIDN'T MEAN TO? YOU SLAPPED ME!!!!!"
Remus stared at Roman in horror.
His heart was racing. He knew he was in trouble.
Roman would yell at him then see his glasses.
He would joke. He would laugh.
Remus cursed himself.
Why couldn't he control his tentacles?
He got in trouble because of them!
Roman was mid-yelling at Remus for slapping him when he saw the glasses.
"AND ONE MORE THIN-"
Remus knew Roman saw the glasses.
Suddenly Roman had gone silent.
He had stopped yelling at him.
Unless Janus silenced him.
Which Remus doubted.
"You have glasses?" Roman asked.
Remus stayed silent.
"PFFTTT- YOU HAVE GLASSES!!!"
Remus wanted to cry.
He wanted to leave. He didn't want to be here.
He wished one of his tentacles would slap Roman again, but none of them did. No such luck..

Oh? Eh, he’s chill. We sometimes get together and talk conspiracy theories when insomnia hits. At least til Sleep shows up and starts huffing about how we’re “making his job harder”, which he was already flaking on. It, surprisingly, does us all well since we actually manage to get some rest afterwards. But, you didn’t ask for a life story or anything, so in short. He’s chill, and I’d, probably die for him tbh.

Sanders Sides Human!AU HCs
Extras HCs that I thought about after I created the collage, because my brain does a great job being random.... Skin type!:
🔅Roman and Remus would get a nice and perfect tan after being under the sun (like in the beach or being a lot of time under the sun), but after a lot of time their skin would get back to its normal tone and repeat the cicle because they love the sun.
🔅Patton would also get a soft tan, but it would disappear faster and would let behind more freckles in his face, that’s a thing that he loves because baby freckles!
🔅Logan is pale and sensible to the U.V rays, he get sunburn easily, and believe him, it’s not comfortable at all, so he has to use sunscreen (a lot of sunscreen), and umbrellas when he has to spend a lot of time under the sun. Does he use it as an excuse to spend a lot of times in libraries or in his home? you cannot prove it.
🔅Virgil’s skind doesn’t get tan or burned, but the more time he spend under the sun, the more freckles he gets and that doesn’t helps his anxiety. So he avoid the sun like a vampire and uses his sweater even if he gets a heatstroke in the process.
🔅Janus is allergic to the sun... ok, no but almost? The sun makes his vitiligo worst, that’s why he use a hat and his gloves, it doesn’t matter if is in the middle of the summer.
🔅Logan and Janus force Patton, Remus and Roman to use sunscreen.
🔅Usually Logan and Janus go together to buy diferent types of sunscreen and discuss about the ridiculous amount of money that they spend in it.
🔅Janus introduced Virgil to the sunscreens friendly to his makeup, and usually gift him makeup with sunscreen in it because he understand how he felt about his freckles.

I’m honestly surprised that more people haven’t latched onto the angst possibilities of Sleep canonically hating Anxiety. So much angst...

Thomas goes back to the real world and then there just ends up being a nice DLAMP cuddle pile that Remy and Andy join in on. Everyone's glad that Dee's finally out of his room, though the Snek still isn't confident about his looks.

Ignored For Far Too Long
Contains:
My boy, my dude, Orange/Dark Side Logan
My other dudes Janus and Remus
The Offer of a Lifetime
And So Much Light Sides Bashing like do not read if you’re a Roman, Patton and/or Virgil stans
Also there’s a bit of injury and blood at the beginning, hopefully I wasn’t that descriptive.
To all my fellow Logan stans who just want to see our guy go apeshit crazy
Also this is the first time I’ve posted an actual story (unless you count that one 21st Pines Twins shitpost I did) and a Sanders Sides one at that
“AHH!” Logan yelled, throwing a metal object across his room, his emotions bursting out of control.
“Why can’t they just listen to me once?! It shouldn’t be hard for those-those—idiots!”
He threw another item, a chair this time, and cracked a mirror he had across the room. The surface shattered in a hundred pieces, some bits falling to the ground, the rest a spiderweb of brokenness.
Logan furiously walked up to it and punched it, his hand bloody at the act and one of his eyes glowing orange among the spiderweb cracks.
He punched it again, growling, “Just calm down, Logan! Calm down!”
He punched it again, not registering the pain, tears in his blue eye and pure unfiltered rage in the other.
“It. Should. Be. Easy!” With every word, he punched the mirror for emphasis, trying to get rid of his anger, “Just. How. It. Should. Be. Easy. To. Stay. Rational! Sane! The only smart one out of those idiots! The only one who actually cares about what Thomas needs to do! The only one who is constantly ignored! Who is always told to listen!”
He punched the glass more and more until the mirror completely broke and fell to the ground in millions of pieces, his fists broken and rawed and bloodied.
He panted, looking at his hands and the pieces, and bit his lips down, holding back a frustrated scream. Then he started pacing, rubbing his blood-covered hands through his hair and going into another one of his episodes.
He had been starting to get them more recently. It all started with that stupid day he could barely get Thomas to do anything because damn Remus was so damn annoying and irrational! And then there had been Nico, the jerk that kept ignoring Thomas and ignoring him!
The outburst he had against Remus felt like a breath of fresh air. A terrifying, horrible breath of air. He didn’t want it. He didn’t want it, but he did want it. He didn’t want to hurt the other sides, but he wanted to make them all pay. For ignoring him, ignoring Thomas’s problems, ignoring everything!
He started to get more angry, most wrathful, his blood growing and getting higher and higher to a steady boil with each meeting he had with the other Light Sides. Roman, with his stupid, blinding and impossible dreams, Virgil with his irrational and annoying anxiety, and Patton, with his ignorance and selfish selflessness. They were all idiots! Why couldn’t they see that what they were doing was ruining Thomas, ruining him?!
So as his anger grew, he started getting these episodes, these annoying and horrible and satisfactory destructive outbursts that always started and ended with him pissed.
But looking down at his bloodied hands, he realized this was the first time he injured himself, and so badly.
Of course, it wasn’t a real injury—they were merely figments of Thomas’s mind after all. But it showed something more important, mentally—that by giving into this destructive, vengeful rage, Logan was hurting himself, and deteriorating Thomas’s rationality.
“But of course he doesn’t need me, does he?” He said, looking at his fists, “he and the other sides never needed me. I’m not important! I’m just some inconvenience, some obstacle, some useless, annoying thing to them. If I could show them!”
He growled and stood up and was about to throw another fist at his wall, until suddenly, it was caught by a familiar yellow gloved hand.
“What?” He asked, his voice shaking, and his one blue eye and one orange eye looked over his shoulder to see Janus there with a look of…sympathy and disapproval?
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Thomas’s is already worse enough with how much you’re being ignored. Hurting yourself isn’t going to help.”
Then he let go of his fist, and Logan turned away, ashamed and surprised, “How…how much did you see?”
“Enough to know that you’ve been ignored and casted out by the other sides for far too much. Like me. Like Remus.”
Then suddenly, Remus appeared at his other side, “And we all know what that means, IQ!”
Logan but down an angry, animalistic snarl, and he said, “Get to the point. What do you two want?”
Janus put a hand on Logan’s shoulder—only for him to pull away and turn around, glaring at the two.
“We all have a common goal here, Logan. We want Thomas to listen to us, and the other Sides are preventing that so. Remus doesn’t want to be ignored and cares about Thomas’s opportunities, and yet he is casted aside for being too well…Remus.”
Remus cackled, and winked at Logan, who took a step away.
“I don’t want Thomas to be consumed by his need to be selfless and care about his mental health more.” Janus continued, “But because of the other Sides, this has been exaggerated to evil selfishness and cowardice.”
Then he finished, “And then there’s you. This is me being—“ he cringed— “honest, but you’re arguably one of the more important Sides. Without you, Thomas won’t be able to manage and balance everything between his dreams, Nico, and his home life. But the other Sides merely see you as a nuisance, and—“
“So?!” Logan exploded, his orange eye flashing brighter, “Stop repeating things I already know! Where are you going with this?! Are you trying to piss me off even more?”
Remus snickered, “Ooh, Logan just said a bad word~”
Logan bared his teeth at the him, “Oh, put a sock in it, Remus! For once in your pathetic, annoying life, will you just shut that useless mouth of yours and stay silent?!”
Remus and Janus’s eyes both widened at Logan’s outburst, and Remus stepped back a bit behind Janus, saying with a somewhat shaky voice, “W-wow, didn’t expect you to have that much of a-a bite, Logie.”
Janus sighed, “It’s getting worse, isn’t it? Soon you won’t be able to control it.”
Logan glared at the two, but then faltered and turned, hugging himself. “Y-yes that—I’m afraid of that. If I purely dissolve into Rage and Irrationality, than Thomas will have no one to guide him, even as a tiny, small voice in the back of his head.”
But then he growled, his nails digging into his arms, “But why should I help him, all of them?! They’ve ignored me, beaten me down, they don’t deserve it after everything they’ve done to me!”
He huffed, and turned his back to the two, “Just leave you two. Pretend none of this will ever happen. I don’t need whatever you have to offer.”
Everything was silent for a moment, and Logan thought the two have left until Janus said, “We want to help you, Logan.”
Logan froze, and his voice faltered with the smallest shred of disbelief, “Wh-what?”
“We want to help you. We’ve been fully shunned by the other Sides, and soon you will be too. So we suggest you come onto our side before they shun you and force you to.”
“What-what are you saying?”
“What Janie here is saying—“ Remus grinned, walking around Logan to meet his face— “is that you become one of us! A Dark Side!”
Logan’s eyes widened, and he stepped back, his blue eye faintly glowing, “What? No. Never.”
“Why not?” Janus asked, going to Remus’s side in front of him, “It’s the best solution to this problem, Logan. The others are bound to shun you and see you as a Dark Side, something bad that is preventing Thomas from doing what he wants. They don’t see your value. But we do. If you join us, we can help you manage your rage. I can help you control it, and Remus can help you harness it and let it all out when you need to. With us and your Wrath, Thomas and the other Sides are bound to listen to us. We’ll all get what we want: Thomas’s welfare. He’ll be allowed to be more selfish, more outspoken, and more manageable and rational with his life.
“Plus, unlike the ‘Light’ Sides, we’ll actually listen to you.”
Logan froze, his mind running through the scenarios and possibilities of it. He would gain all the trust and good light he worked so hard for from the other sides. It would be so difficult to gain it back. It could lead him to being put at the backseat more and more.
But the rewards and possible benefits he could reap outweighed the negatives far to much. Janus was right. If Logan could control and harness his rage properly, he could probably get Thomas angry with himself and force him to manage and take care of himself better out of anger for not doing it, for being lazy. That, and the Bad Sides would listen to him. He and Janus would be good at planning and managing things together, and he and Remus could not only perform fun and weird science experiments and scenarios together with Thomas’s imagination, but Logan could help him manage what would be good and appropriate content and ideas for the audience they would want Thomas to have on the Internet.
Then, the final nail in the coffin: Remus smiled, and pulled an orange bat out of thin air, offering it to Logan, “Imagine the look on all of their faces. When they realized they fucked up.
Logan’s gaze hyper focused on the bat, and then the Dark Sides.
Then he smiled.
“I believe we have a deal.”
If this gets a lot of attention (which would be like maybe 100 notes at least for my record) then maybe I’ll post a sequel one shot, or maybe a series, I don’t know. Also if I do that, I will not apologize for possible Intrulogical (Remus x Logan) and/of Inteulogiceit (Remus x Logan x Janus) in it.

Daydreaming (all the time)
AO3 link
When Nico comes home and sees an two identical Thomases asleep on the couch, he discovers some new sides of his boyfriend. When Nico throws his car keys on the wall-mounted hook and sees Thomas asleep on the couch with someone sitting next to him, his first, anxiety-ridden thought is “he’s cheating.” But he quickly dismisses it, replacing it with his second thought: “I didn’t know Thomas’ brother was over!”
When Nico tiptoes to the couch to better see which of Thomas’s many brothers it is, his third thought is “ Thomas never mentioned he had a twin brother!”
Everything about the two men is identical except for their clothes- the way their lips quirked up into a small smile, the little mole on their chins, even their sleeping positions.
But his fourth and most conflicting thought appears when the man next to Thomas, clad in a purple shirt, black skinny jeans, and a black jacket with purple patches, wakes up with a jolt and looks directly at Nico.
“Uh,” Nico smiles. “Hi. Didn’t mean to wake you up sorry about that! Thomas didn’t mention his brother coming over- last-minute visit? Can I get you something?”
The brother pales (as much as he can, between how pale Thomas is naturally and what seems to be the even paler foundation the brother used.) and the black lines under his eyes, which Nico had previously thought were just bags from lack of sleep, suddenly stretch down to his cheekbones.
“I- uh- Thomas!” The brother stutters, his voice increasing to almost a shout when he calls Thomas’s name.
Thomas jolts awake, almost flying off the couch as he sits up. He looks around wildly for a second, his hair flopping into his eyes before he looks up at Nico.
“Ah! Nico! You’re… home. Early. Is it early? Uhm, I, he- we were- uh-“ Thomas stutters. Nico had known him long enough that he only trailed off like that when he was particularly anxious.
“You never mentioned having a twin brother! That’s so cool!” Nico sits down next to Thomas as the brother stood up, moving to the stairs.
“Oh- he’s- we’re… we aren’t actually twins. Or brothers. Or related at all, actually,” Thomas rubs the back of his neck.
“Oh! A doppelgänger, then? Don’t worry, I still like you better,” Nico laughs. Thomas gives a small grin.
“No… he’s…” Thomas looks towards his purple-clad… friend? Nico wasn’t sure anymore. The friend sighs and nods before sitting down on the bottom step and crossing his legs. “I should just… show you. It’s hard to explain.”
“Oh, okay then. Er, what exactly are you explaining?”
Thomas took a deep breath. “Okay. Nico, I, um, so you know when you hear me arguing with myself sometimes? Well, uh, I’m arguing with him.” Thomas pointed to the person on the stairs, who gave a smirk and a small two-finger salute. Nico gave a slight eyebrow raise as he noticed the eyeshadow had gotten darker and even more caked on, almost looking like black tears.
“And, uh, he’s not the only one,” Thomas continued. “That’s Virgil, and there’s Patton, Roman, Logan, Ja-“
Thomas was cut off by another voice chiming in.
“Yes Thomas, please do ruin my entrance. I love it when that happens.”
Nico whipped around to see who had spoken and did a double-take as he saw who was standing in front of the blinds. It was another person who looked eerily similar to Thomas- well, on half his face, anyway. The other half seemed to be a snake? And to top off the look, the snake-faced man was dressed in a getup similar to what Nico imagined a Victorian-era vampire would wear; a black capelet, black tunic, and a black bowler hat with a yellow band.
“Who-“ Nico started but was cut off yet again by someone else appearing right next to Snakeface. The newcomer gave a bright smile towards Thomas and then turned to face Snakeface.
“Hiya Janus! Um, you’re in my spot again… I’m sure we can share, though!”
Janus- an odd name, but weirdly fitting, Nico thought- rolled his eyes. “Patton, congratulations on being the second person to ruin my entrance today alone,” he drawled.
“What entrance? Thomas already knows all about you- oh!” Patton suddenly looked directly at Nico. “We’re doing this now? Hi Nico!” Patton grinned and clapped, while
“Ah, Thomas,” Nico whipped around yet again to see who had appeared next to the stairs. “And Nico. I suppose you are doing this now.”
“Not without me!” Someone else sang as he appeared in front of the couch.
“Boo!” Another shouted from… behind the TV? All of the other Thomas Clones screamed, and the newcomer clad in green with what seemed to be a mustache sticker taped on.
“Okay… what’s happening? And… Why do they all look exactly like you?” Nico asked cautiously.
“Okay,” Thomas took another deep breath, holding this one for several counts. “So… these are all the guys I argue with when you hear me arguing with myself. And I actually am arguing with myself, because they’re all me, but- agh, this doesn’t make any sense.”
“Allow me to explain, then. Hello, Nico. I am Logan, the representation of Thomas’s logic. We are what he calls sides, for the alliteration I presume. We each represent a portion of his personality, in a way. I am every fact he’s ever learned, his critical thinking, curiosity, and the only reason he graduated college with a chemical engineering degree. And then proceeded to waste that degree, but that is not today’s discussion.”
“Not true! Remember all the argumentative papers? That was all me!” Janus glared.
The other Thomases broke out into an argument and Logan rolled his eyes- Nico could have sworn he saw an orange tint- and Thomas gave an apoplectic look.
“Sorry about… that,” he gestured.
“Do they- you? Does this happen often?”
“Yeah. Sometimes they mix it up and argue in song form.”
Nico looked around the room and nodded. “So they’re all you? Is it like a superpower or something?”
“No, I don’t really know what it is. They’re all imaginary, so I don’t know why you’re able to see them… I knew if you were somehow able to see them I’d tell you, but…” Thomas trailed off.
“But what?” Nico prompted.
“I didn’t want you to think I was weird.”
“Hey, don’t worry- if no one was weird I’d think we’d all be pretty boring. Besides- this actually makes a lot of sense.”
“Yeah- wait, what do you mean it makes sense?”
“Well,” Nico gave a nervous laugh. “I’d seen a bunch of stuff moving on their own, flashes of color out of the corner of my eye, even heard voices a couple of times. I was nearly starting to believe in ghosts!”
Thomas chuckled. “I never even thought about that! Well, I’m glad I haven't scared you off yet. I didn’t scare you off, right?”
“It’ll take more than figments of your imagination to get rid of me, Mr. Sanders,” Nico smiled and planted a kiss on Thomas’s cheek, smiling as he flushed a bright pink. “Now come on, I’m going to bed. Pack up your… you’s … and join me.”

If you watch Thomas sanders. You learn that anxiety is important. What scares me about this lesson is that we destroy mental enemies that represent Regret, Judgement, bad ideas etc. But what happens after we leave? Do they come back or do more appear? I'm concerned because imagine someone destroys every mental enemy in a person's brain. No regrets, no doubt, no judgement etc. It's the same reason we didn't destroy Maligula we need these.
I think that more come back-- After all, if you return to an area while looking for figments, you will get attacked again. Trust me, I got into the same fight in the Sunken Motherlobe at least 3 times over. It's not fun. But I get why it would happen-- Bob, of course, has major issues.
On the other hand, though, some people really do need a reminder that they are just thoughts-- Such as, for instance, Compton. His mind is mostly safe after his level, since he's willing to ask for help.
(Also, yes, I do watch Thomas Sanders. I also would like to state that I've already had a quick thought of "hm. Ford's fragments but as sanders sides." and then never had any other ideas for it.)

Painful Changes- Sanders Sides fic
The unofficial title for this fic was “Growing Wings Fucking Sucks” xD
Heres a fic inspired by some doodles I did last night, it’s unbeta’d and kinda rushed, so if its a little vauge in someplaces i apologize. I hope ya’ll like it!
Warnings: mentions of wounds, blood, and pain, cursing, possibly v graphic descriptions but i tried not to go into too much detail. Let me know if i need to add more tags!
Being accepted and becoming a 'light side' was a.. Process, to say in the least. The fact was that 'dark' sides had creature-like features, and 'Light' sides had angel wings and near-flawless skin. Something said Roman's and Patton's influences over the years were the cause for such a specific set of features, but it was as normal in the mind palace at this point as finding Virgil on places that he shouldn't be sitting on. Virgil didn't question them, and they soon stopped questioning Virgil.
Virgil's features had seemed to fit himself quite well, an extra few sets of spider eyes and legs, and fangs that matched his personality. They were conjurable of course, so that he didn't freak Patton out every time the father figment saw him, a wave of the hand and Virgil looked almost normal. Aside from the purple eyes.
Still, Accepting Anxiety had come and went, and the process had begun to show some results that, well. Perhaps they weren’t so surprising, but to Virgil? Such changes were certainly not welcome.
Such as waking up one morning to find nearly all of his creature attributes unconjurable, unshifting, gone. No more extra eyes or limbs, duller fangs and no venom within. Just purple eyes and his eyeshadow, and nothing else.
Well, in all his sulking from the loss, he hadn't quite made the jump on why exactly it happened. Not, at least, until the aches started.
It took two full months before the aches began to set in. Dull and more of a nuisance than an actual problem, he tried to ignore it in favor of keeping his attention on protecting the others and Thomas. Virgil knew just as well that he had horrid posture, and figured that his shift and loss of extra limbs and extra sulking had just irritated the area. So, Virgil didn't bring it up.
It wasn't until the overall aches began to shrink and center into certain lines on his shoulders down to his mid to lower back, that he began to be suspicious. Still, he tried to ignore it in favor of doing what he did best, being anxious about everything but himself.
Then the aches started getting to be tedious, daily occurrences. In the morning he'd wake up to the worst of it, and try to stretch it out to go back to sleep because the aches had woken him up. By mid day they'd have dulled into something more manageable, but touching his back began to be a bit of a no-go. He still suffered through Patton's hugs, he couldn't refuse his dad that even if doing so meant sharp pain spiking up his back, because Patton meant well and showed his love through bear hugs. Some pesky pain wasn't going to get in the way of that. Still, his face sometimes betrayed him in expressing the spasm of pain he felt each time, and both Logan and Roman sometimes saw. Roman often gave him a worried look, and Logan gave a questioning one, both of which he dismissed.
Sleeping was already rough from the get-go, but now more-so than ever did it fucking suck. It became uncomfortable to even lay on his back, and sometimes even his side. The first time he flopped down the wrong way on his bed out of instinct, he shot right back up from the spasm of pain that it elicited. So, sleeping and laying on his stomach began to be the way to go. He'd stay out of the groups movienight cuddle sessions like he used to, not because he wanted to, but because it really began to hurt to just let anything even just brush his back.
Stretching hurt, breathing hurt, moving hurt, sleeping hurt, even simply being hurt! Virgil was sick and tired of it at this point. It was freaking him the hell out, it'd been a month since the aches had transformed into pain, and the others were well past suspicious. Logan had often taken him aside to gently prod about his sudden change in behavior. Worried that his friend was hurting. Virgil was hurting, but it wasn't like he could very well tell Logan that. He assured Logan that the loss of his creature attributes had just been a literal sore spot for a while, and he was having to distance a bit to let it heal without it being aggravated. Logan still seemed suspicious, but accepted the explanation none-the-less and gave Virgil a comforting brush of his wing. Roman was less upfront about his suspicion, though it was still obvious. However, he was careful and respected Virgil's space, being careful to avoid the sore areas when he touched the other. Patton caught on pretty quickly, opting to give Virgil wing hugs instead of arm hugs as they were gentle and soft. He even helped Virgil try to find ways to dial back the soreness, one of the best things having involved heat.
The healing pad Roman conjured had been a blessing to his poor back. Hot showers and baths also soothed the pain, and it was finally looking up for Virgil.
And then, it wasn't.
When it happened, he'd been doing what had helped his pain best, taking a hot bath after a shower. His back carefully submerged underneath him to relax his muscles. Today the pain had seemingly been at its worst, eliciting spasms of pain at every too sudden movement. His skin hurt, his shoulders twitched, his spine ached. So he opted for a shower, and then a long soak in a hot bath. Everything had been fine, the pain had died down and he'd been as relaxed as one could be in such a state. He was almost dozing off from relief when it happened. Something shifted in his back that was not of his own accord.
Then? The worst spasms of pain of his life, so sudden and so numbing that Virgil could barely make a sound, let alone sit up. Wave after wave hit him like a freight train, and his shoulders and back tensed and spasmed and jolted, pain seemingly tearing down his shoulders and ending at his lower back. Minutes pass as finally, finally, the spasming stops, and Virgil gasps deeply for air. He thanks his lucky stars that his head stayed above water, and that whatever it was, it was finally over.
And then he sees it. Whisps of red floating up from the water, from underneath him, and his heart leaps into his throat.
He can barely manage to breath as he raises his shaking hand and summons whoever will listen to his emergency call.
Logan sinks up first, book in hand, feathers ruffled and looking slightly annoyed before he really sees Virgil. Wide-eye panicked paper pale Virgil, unmoving aside from the rapid rise and fall of his chest. Then he sees the red in the water, and kicks into action, immediately moving to very gently pull Virgil up and out of the water while tucking his large wings back and out of the way. Virgil pushes on despite the pain and stinging it elicits.
When all is said and done, and Virgil is dry and at least wearing pajama pants, Logan can finally assess the damage.
Two long slits carve their way down Virgil's back, starting high on his shoulders and curing to almost meet at his lower back on either side of his spine.
All at once, Logan understands.
Wings. Virgil is growing wings.
Just under the slits, he can see the new muscles moving, and cringes at Virgil's soft cry. Knowing what must be done, he quietly summons Patton and Roman. Their discontent of the rough summoning dies on the spot when they find Virgil nearly sobbing with pain as Logan looks on pityingly.
The two are quickly briefed on the situation, and take positions holding Virgil's hands.
"His wings are half formed, and have been stuck underneath the skin, and that is why the skin finally burst from the pressure. If we are not quick, more damage will come as they try to fight their way out. So I will have to carefully manually guide them out instead." Both winged sides cringed at that.
The process was agony, but necessary. And true to his word, the logical side was as careful as he could be, but Virgil still gripped Pat and Ro's hands tight till Logan was done freeing both small featherless wings. Carefully, both wings and Virgil's back were cleaned and disinfected.
To help consol the anxious side, Roman conjured a loose open backed shirt with long thick sleeves.
It would still be a while before the skin fully healed and the sleek grey itchy downy feathers would begin to grow in, once Virgil's wings finished fully growing, but for now Virgil simply slumped grumpily into Patton's arms as the sides relocated him to the mind palace living room.
Somehow he ended up with his head on Patton's chest as they laid down on the couch, Logan and Roman sitting on the floor against the couch to keep close company as they turned a quiet movie on.
All in all, a better outcome than he was expecting for the end of the day. And virgil wasnt going to complain about that. Well.. Maybe a little, if it meant he could get a few chuckles out of the others.
"That fuckin sucked." He mumbled grumpily, and even Patton snickered lovingly with the others despite quietly calling out Virgil's language.
Sure, his back still hurt, and would for a while, but he could feel it now, this new pain was temporary.

Scales (5/7)
Sanders Sides: Logan, Deceit, Virgil, Roman, Patton Blurb: Deceit hadn’t expected his absence from the Mindscape to be noticed by the others…until Logic knocked on his door. Fic Type: General Warnings: Shedding (snake style), Minor Injuries, Minor Pain, Touch Starvation, Death Talk Taglist in Reblog.
To Catch Up: Prologue Chapter 1 Chapter 2  Chapter 3
His scales?
But...but HOW?!
Deceit shot to his feet before Logan could stop him, growling under his breath as his vision briefly blurred, but he couldn’t just sit still for this! “That’s impossible. HOW?!” He stumbled away from the others as Logic reached for him, instead heading to the window, wishing the sun was up so he could at least feel its heat through the glass.
“Kiddo,” Patton had also moved to his feet, hands outstretched. “Perhaps you should sit back dow--”
“But it doesn’t make sense! Nothing’s changed!” Deceit ignored Morality’s advice, continuing to shakily pace the floor. “My scales have never changed like that before! They should still be snake scales! They’ve always been--”
He flinched at the electric touch lightly wrapping around his left wrist, forcing him to stop before he antagonized the scales there. He jerked his head up, wobbling as he struggled to breathe, his human eye focusing on Anxiety.
“It’s obvious what’s going on isn’t it?” Virgil said, the shadows under his eyes pitch black. “It’s because you’ve been--”
Deceit hissed, going stiff. “Don’t you dare say accepted.” Just because they considered him to be Fa--Family didn’t mean that--that Thomas--He was a DARK SIDE for crying out loud! A BAD GUY. You don’t get accepted for being that after a simple name reveal!
...Right?
Virgil huffed, letting go. “When did you last shed? Before or after you told us we could call you Lyal?”
Deceit gritted his teeth lightly brushing his wrist to ensure the shed there was alright. It wasn’t like he could lie though, Logan already knew the answer. “...Before.”
“And what changed afterwards?” Roman asked, a small smile playing on his lips, his eyes nearly glowing like they did whenever his Creativity was sparked.
Deceit looked away. “You...invited me--”
“To dinner!” Patton said, clapping his hands together. “We started including you more.”
“And you said yourself that you experience changes in your shed when Thomas is experiencing a period of growth himself and we are all a part of Thomas are we not?” Logan asked, resting a hand on Deceit’s non-scaled shoulder.  “Ergo, Thomas is growing to accept you because we are including you. It is a major change, Lyal.”
“But...dragon scales?” He whispered, allowing his shaky legs to collapse him to the floor. He half curled in a ball as Logan knelt with him. “I--I---” It was too much. It couldn’t---he couldn’t!
“They’re not all bad you know. I mean…It probably doesn’t mean much coming from me since I...well...fight them.” Roman said, carefully brushing Deceit’s scaled cheek with his fingers, leaving burning fire in their wake. “But she--the Dragon Witch--she does have her moments of...of being okay on occasion and you’re-” He gently rubbed his thumb under Deceit’s unblinking eye. “Probably more like Toothless than Smaug.”
Logan raised his eyebrows. “Toothless? But Lyal obviously still has all his tee--”
“He means Dee’s like the Dragon named Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, L.” Virgil interrupted. “With how he appears all dangerous at first...but turns out to be--”
No, no no! Deceit did not like where this metaphor was going. He bared his teeth, raising his human hand, ready to grab at the air though that hand had never been as good as his scaled one in silencing the others. “Call me soft and or cute Annie, and you’ll--”
“Not be making threats right now, LyLy.” Patton scolded, shaking a bright yellow finger in front of his scaled eye. “We need to solve one problem, not cause more.”
“Agreed.” Logan said, adjusting his glasses. “Which means, we need to listen to Roman in order to help you. If your scales have changed to dragon scales then by all means he would know best on how to have us help you.”
“Us.” Deceit echoed faintly, dropping his hand “But--”
“We’re family.” Logan said, his eyes glittering with careful humor as Deceit made a face.
They really needed to stop using that word in relation to him. He wasn’t--
“And FamILY sticks together!” Patton declared. “Ro, how do you help the Dragon Witch? What do we need to do for Ly?”
“But what if this is wrong?! What if it--” Deceit drew in a shuddering breath, ducking his head. “It could go wrong.” He whispered, leaning into Logan. “You don’t know--I’m not a Dragon Witch, I can’t--”
“Lyal.”
Despite himself, the tone of Roman’s voice had Deceit looking to the Creative Side as he placed a hand on his heart, holding his other one out to him.
“On my honor as a Prince and as Thomas’s Creativity, I promise, you won’t be harmed.” Roman offered him a smile that was softer, somehow more vulnerable than he’d seen on the Creative Side before. “I know what I’m doing.”
How could he promise that?! They were going off the assumption that Deceit’s scales worked in the same way as a figment in the Imagination! It wasn’t going to--
“After all…” Roman pulled back his hand to run his fingers through his hair, messing up the princey styling as he fidgeted in place. “I did...I did base her off you--you know--since--well you are--were? A bad guy.”
Patton gasped, eyes going wide. “You did?!”
Roman flushed, “I was twelve okay? I was mad at Fibber on the Roof here for something I can’t even remember now so I--I created--her based off of you, but I didn’t know that you had snake scales and dragons were so much cooler! So--so there has to be some truth to your scales working the same way as hers.” Roman offered him a shaky smile. “Right?”
Deceit opened his mouth to deny it, but he didn’t know what to say. Hadn’t his own words confirmed his scales were no longer snake ones? Hadn’t his room had betrayed him in the humidity not helping him? And Creativity--Roman was confident about this...this dragon process.
But what if it all went WRONG?! What if he lost his hand because of this! Or his eye?! He was already a freak among them. He was already--
“How about a small test.” Logan offered into the silence as Deceit continued to hesitate. “Perhaps a small spot on your shoul--”
“NO.” Deceit drew in a shuddering breath as the others stiffened. “I--I mean--yes.” He had to get the shed off somehow. “To the test. But not there. Not my arm.”
He needed his arm and if this didn’t work he didn’t want to chance losing any mobility there that he hadn’t already possibly lost. “Ro--” He swallowed over the lump of terror stuck in his throat. “Roman can--try it here.” He pushed away from Logan, though the Logical Side refused to fully release him, and gestured to his side, holding his arm out and away to give Creativity access to the area. No one ever saw him shirtless anyways, so if--if this didn’t work, it wouldn’t be a big deal to have the scales be malformed there.
“I can work with that.” Roman offered him a more confident smile as he snapped his fingers and held out his hand, a pile of opalescent dust appearing in his palm. “Usually the Dragon Witch just buries herself first and I help out later, but overall it’s a simple process for a little test.” He said. “I just press this against your side--”
“This being?” Virgil asked, shoving his hands into his hoodie pockets.
“Volcanic ash.” Roman said. “It draws out the moisture from the shed. Once it’s dry and flaky, we use some brushes to remove it and then a cloth with some mineral oil to shine the new scales right up. Easy.”
Easy enough. Deceit drew in a shaky breath, closing his human eye though his snake one remained fixed on Roman’s brightly burning hand as it neared his side. He really hoped this would work. “Do it.”
“Gently.” Logan cautioned, shifting his position so he was fully behind Deceit. A slight pressure on his shoulders urging him to lean back against his chest.
Patton took Deceit’s human hand squeezing it. “You’re gonna be okay, LyLy.” He whispered.
Still. Deceit couldn’t help but flinch as Roman pressed the dust against his side, near his navel, his breath hitching at the warmth emanating from the spot. Much warmer than he expected it to feel.
Virgil’s vibrant heat signature leaned forward. “How long does it take to know if it’s working?”
“Not long.” Roman reassured him. “Give it a minute.”
A minute. Deceit opened his human eye staring down at the spot, trying to ignore how hard his heart was pounding, how tightly he was squeezing Patton’s hand. A minute to know when it had taken him six days to realize something was wrong. A minute to discover if this volcanic ash would help him or--he didn’t want to think of the or.
“And--” Roman relaxed his hand, allowing the ash to fall away from the shed and onto the carpet.
Deceit made a soft sound in the back of his throat as he released Patton’s hand to gingerly touch the spot, warm now from the pressure Roman had placed on it, but no longer was the same shade of sickly green as the rest of his shed. Instead it had blackened like burned timber.
Was that good? Was it bad? While it did feel unnaturally warmer, the spot wasn’t itching like past shed periods to indicate that it was ready. So this had to be bad. The scales had o be ruined there now! It hadn’t worked! IT HADN--”
“Dee.” Virgil’s voice interrupted his spiraling thoughts, causing him to look up.
Anxiety’s eyeshadow had darkened again, to the same shade as the spot as he pulled Deceit’s hand away from his side. “Breathe.”
BREATHE? Deceit inhaled raggedly, clutching at Annie as Roman quickly brought a small currying brush up to his burning side, gently massaging the spot in small circles.
“That’s normal, Lion King. I promise. The skin always gets darker, the Ash--it makes it darker. It’s fine. It’s fine. I promise. It’s normal.” Creativity said as flakes of skin fell away under his careful movements.
Deceit tensed, pressing against Logan, a soft hiss escaping him as he watched Roman work. This hardly felt normal. It felt all WRONG! Normally the shed just...peeled off. It didn’t flake like this!
“Nothing’s gone wrong, Lyal. It’s working exactly like it does for the Dragon Witch.” Roman continued to reassure him, flashing him a smile as the brush changed to a cloth that he carefully rubbed along the spot. “See?” He pulled away, revealing a set of brand new scales gleaming under the light.

Sanders Sides in a Human!AU, this is how I imagine them! (aka a lot of Headcanons -HCs-)
🔅Janus, Virgil and Remus have Heterochromia (the only hetero* thing in their bones, Ha!). Janus’ eyes are grey and green, Remus’ are green and brown and Virgil’s eyes are blue and grey
🔅Patton and Virgil have freckles, but Patton only has them in his face (especially in his nose and his cheeks) and Virgil in his whole body
🔅Janus has Vitiligo, and ear piercings
🔅Logan has ear piercings too (but don't let Roman, nor Patton, know about it ;) ;) )
🔅Remus is a chaotic gremling, hence the little scratches on his face
🔅Roman’s and Remus’ hair is strawberry blonde (it seems like carrot -or maybe my glassess are playing tricks to my perception of colors- but I imagine them with strawberry blonde hair)
🔅Logan’s eyes are a shade of blue darker than Patton’s
🔅The flower crown was Patton's idea, neither of them has the heart to say no to him (and they look to goddarn cute with them)

I think Logan ducking out would be the scariest thing to ever happen in Sanders Sides. Among everything else, he keeps C!Thomas in touch with reality. Without him, there is no one to keep Remus, Roman, or Virgil in check and Janus’ denial function might act up in order to compensate for Logan’s absense. Patton might be the only one who could ground Thomas, and even then he’s based on feelings.
Basically, I think Logan’s smart enough not to leave completely, but hypothetically speaking if he did, things would be even worse than Accepting Anxiety. Thomas would be a guy with no sense of reality talking to figments of his imagination with no way to calm his anxiety or control his imagination.

So what exactly is the Sanders Sides lore? Or whatever you wanna call it
You've got Patton giving Virgil a dollar (do they have their own Thomasphere currency?)
You've got Logan and Janus knowing things that Thomas doesn't seem to know or remember
They've got their own phones???
Roman knows Spanish but everyone else doesn't
Valerie/Lilly/Leslie can see Sides but Nico couldn't. How come (character)Joan doesn't know about the Sides when they've been best friends with Thomas for so long and probably watch the Sanders Sides videos
How Thomas didn't know what they were going to do but Roman said "I literally don't know how, we discussed it in your head"
Roman and Patton couldn't sweater up Thomas but they can throw imaginary rocks/laptops at him? And he gets hurt?
ok i personally don’t know all this but i don’t overthink it because they’re mostly just superficial / fourth wall breaking jokes and stuff. but do have answers for a few! the rest i think are just jokes that i haven’t given much thought.
for logan and janus knowing stuff thomas doesn’t i don’t know and it bothers me. my headcanon is that while thomas is having these scenarios in his head he’s researching about his questions and that’s when all these studies and theories come up, so he connects them to what he’s debating by having those sides support their arguments with them. doesn’t fit completely since thomas is visibly confused by the stuff they say but eh nothing is perfect. i hope we get an explanation for this from the writers.
Roman knowing Spanish is like.. you can imagine yourself doing anything, speaking any language that you kinda know the sound of. have you ever dreamed that you’re speaking a language you don’t actually know? because i have lol. i dreamed i was speaking french but my brain was just putting german and english words in a french accent. so Roman can draw the mona lisa with crayons or speak spanish because he imagines himself (or thomas, really) doing it. he has the power.
about people seeing them, they’re also all stated as figments of Thomas’ imagination. just like Remus conjuring the characters of the movie, they’re not actually there, Thomas is just visualizing them. when he hugs Valerie he’s just breaking character and says explicitly that he’s hugging her as his friend who’s acting on this show with him, not as the character she was playing: an imaginary person to practice with. it isn’t as clear with Lilly but the same thing is happening, Thomas just went to her inside his head by just imagining it and what she would say. or maybe he talked to her and later then imagined them both physically arguing with Anxiety (which is something psychologists recommend trying).
and like yeah Thomas probably doesn’t tell everyone about his Sides because it’s just like a personal method to know himself. like i don’t know if you have but i have thought of what my own sides would be and i don’t just go telling my friends about it. although you’re right, a friend would maybe watch the characters youtube. but maybe they don’t, and it’s just separate.
they threw rocks at him?? asjdjfhs when i don’t remember that xd. and yeah he can’t have like an actual piece of clothing and his imagination isn’t enough to just change his clothes like that but it is enough to imagine a conversation with the sides and them throwing stuff at him. i think that’s valid.
basically there’s little limit to what they can or can’t do because it’s all thomas’ creations. which can be intentional or meaningless and against his will sometimes. because brains are like that.

Here sre some of my Sanders Sides theories. Long post btw so yee
Roman and Remus were originally one all-encompassing creativity, then they split and become the two different sides of creativity, or the "Creativitwins". Their names seem to follow a theme: Ancient Rome, specifically the legend surrounding the creation/beginning of Rome. I think that the original creativity's name was Romulus. Here's why: Remus killed Romulus over a land dispute and then started the city of Rome in his brother's name. Citizens of Rome are called Romans. Though it could be argued that Thomas's moral sense as a concept, not necessarily Patton, separated the two, thus "killing" the original creativity.
Patton may have suffered from anxiety and could have created Virgil as a way to relieve some of his stress, therefore making him Virgil's "dad" in a sense, in Patton's mind warranting him calling Virgil "kiddo" all the time.
We all know that Patton is allergic to cats, but what about the others? What are their weaknesses? My speculations are that Virgil is iron deficient, as he doesn't like to rise up because it makes him dizzy, he is also described by Roman to be the "fairest of them all" and then admitting it was a pale joke in Virgil's expense. Roman is lactose intolerant, as when Patton is feeding him cream of broccoli soup, Logan says that it will "upset Princey's stomach". Logan is OCD: Always planning and organizing things. He gets upset when things don't go exactly as he plans it. He also feels the need to always be right and to make sure everyone else is kept in line. Also: Patton seems to suffer from depression. Oftentimes depressed people crack jokes and give people the general idea that they are happy. They also try to make other people happy. Patton also sometimes gets into these sad funks and even says "I had this problem where I'd hide my less than awesome feelings, so when I would feel like sobbing I'd just smile and crack jokes. I thought that was coping, only joking, never showing sadness, hoping it would just go away".
The thumbnail for "Putting Others First - Selfishness v. Selflessness Redux" has a character selection screen telling the viewer to "select a side", but one thing I noticed is that there is a blank box, indicating a locked character or a character who hasn't been revealed yet. Another thing I noticed is that the sides have a rainbow theme going on. Thomas even says that he is "full rainbow all the time" as an allusion to his sexuality, and possibly even the sides in general. Roman is red, there is no known orange side, Janus is yellow, Remus is green, Patton is light blue, Logan is indigo, and Virgil is violet/purple. Red is the color of physical strength, power, confidence, and passion, which suits Roman's personality. Yellow can be happiness and joy, but also directly means cowardice and deceit, which is self explanatory. Green is a color of healing, life, and vitality, but the flip side being greed, jealousy, pessimism, and superficially. Blue is the color of trust, loyalty, faith, wisdom, truth, patience, and understanding, which sums Patton up pretty well. Indigo resembles wisdom, integrity, fairness, impartiality, and justice, which is all right up Logan's alley. Violet is the color of ambition, dignity, devotion, pride, mystery, independence, magic, being cynical, and mourning, which all makes sense in Virgil's case. Now to orange, which resembles joy, sunshine, risk taking, adventure, enthusiasm, creativity, attraction, success, rudeness, frivolity, and untrustworthiness, which is a balance of traits that both Roman and Remus have and directly resembles creativity, so orange could be a fusion of Roman and Remus, the original creativity before they split. Another possibility for the next side is someone who resembles ethos, as we have pathos and logos (Patton and Logan).
All the sides have an ancient Rome theme going on. Roman and Remus, after the legend surrounding the beginning of Rome. Virgil, after the Roman poet Publius Vergilius Maro, who is often called Virgil. Janus (formerly known as Deceit) after the Roman god of the same name (Janus is the god of new beginnings and transitions, often depicted with two faces facing in opposite directions, one for the past and one for the future). All of the sides except for Patton and Logan, whose names are derived from pathos and logos, an ancient Greek concept proposed by Aristotle. And have you noticed that they mirror each other in almost every way, suggesting that, much like Roman and Remus, they are brothers, possibly even twins?
Dukes tend to not be a part of the royal family, but if so they are princes who have gotten married. Does this mean that Remus is married?!?!? If so to whoooo?
Welcome to me overthinking things again! What if Roman has control over the other sides? Like he's creativity and the sides are figments of Thomas' imagination, so like what if one day he was just done with Logan's nonstop fact train he just (this is extreme) went: "Fuck you, Logan, you're dead now" and Logan straight up dies? Like where would his power end if he could do that? Overthinking things can be scary kids, let me do it for you.
If you overthink it: Patton basically just was like "Nah" in POF SvSR. So he said in SvS that going to the wedding would make Thomas feel good, something that he basically controls because he is Thomas' moral sense and at the center of most of his feelings. Basically Thomas went to the wedding and Patton was like: "This is nice and all and you did the right thing, but uhmmm about those happy feelings. No." And then got all sorts of frustrated about being wrong. So yee. I am just doing the overthinking things thing again.
What if creativity split solely as a big "Fuck you, Logan"? Like I just imagine: C: "Hey Logan, I'm performing mitosis"
L: "Yes, your cells- *he looks up* Whaaaaa?"
R&R: "Cha cha real smooth, Logan"
And thus the twins were "born"
Logan thinks feelings are bad and claims to not have feelings, even though he clearly does (cough, cough, Crofters the Musical? Getting angry in some episodes? Logan, you're a bad liar, bud). So he bottles up most of his feelings, for all practical purposes making him a ticking time bomb. Something's probably going to happen and he won't be able to hold it all in and he'll have an emotional breakdown of sorts. Another thing is he will not duck out. He knows he's too important to Thomas' mental wellbeing for that. He is also getting progressively more angry as the others listen to him less, so he's probably going to overwork himself trying to get everyone to listen to the point where he physically can't be there for Thomas. Cuz like I suspect Logan leaving would have the same effect as Thomas having a massive stroke: The right side of his body wouldn't work, he wouldn't be able to talk/communicate, and his reasoning skills would be gone.
Janus just loves philosophy. Every episode in the main timeline, he makes references to famous philosophers to get his point across.
Patton is always the first of the light sides to accept the dark sides. First with Virgil and then with Janus. He may be taking them in as his troubled but lovable children who he will defend under almost any circumstance.
Virgil's name is not Virgil. People think his full name is Virgilius, though Thomas and Joan have previously stated that it isn’t. Bc of that, some people have theorized that Virgil was lying about his name, or that when he moved to the “light sides” he changed/used a different name, and maybe they’re going to reveal that sometime. Like the scene with Remus and Vee where Re goes, “I would never hide anything from you” looks pointedly at Virgil, and you assume it’s bc he took forever to tell Thomas, but what if it’s bc he was lying about his name from the moment he told Thomas??? And also the moment when Janus says "It takes a liar to know a liar" and Virgil says "Don't" and the response was "What? I'm only talking about your name" I think his name could be Acanthus
Ya know, Patton probably has an indirect role in how the other sides look. Not like "But you're anxiety, you wear the hoodie" but closer to Thomas beliefs of stuff like lying is bad and the fact that Janus often plays devils advocate, so he has a snake face
Random thoughts:
Virgil has the most ace/demi aesthetic and I love that
SvS: Multi part episode, "bad/evil/dark" side gets accepted, the FEELS, angst. Hmmm…
The twins getting along and just like sitting at a table causing minor chaos.
Patton randomly hugs everyone. He just does.

this is just me projecting but virgil having an argument with someone (i imagine deceit but whatever u want) and the other person getting a little too mean and vee regressing out of fear so cg/s has/have to swoop in and help the baby - 👑
Is this the same creative anon that sent me the prompt to Calm n Cuddly? If so, send a crown emoji in an ask? If not, then I have a bunch of people sending me ideas on the same day! Also this was THE PERFECT prompt to introduce the place where the dark sides live in the mindscape, because it isn’t in the normal mindplace/ imaginary apartment with the core sides. This also give me a chance to tie them into the story finally.
Unlikely and Unwelcome Appearances-Agere!Sides AU (pt.22)
Virgil was quite angry with Deceit. In the last Sanders Sides video, all the sides were trying to help Thomas figure out how to ask a very out-of his league guy out. At first, it was Roman convincing Virgil to let them go for it, and when he gave into that, it was everyone trying to figure out how to do it. There was a debate over if a relationship would be healthy at the moment, the best way to go about it, and the benefits of dating the guy.
And when they reached the “how to go about it”, Deceit barges in and tries to convince them to let Thomas make up something interesting about himself, to gain the interest of the guy. It really wasn’t that hard to shoot him down though, Logan providing the logic of lying would entice the guy, but disappoint him later. So Deceit left, and that was that.
But when the sides got back to the mindscape, Virgil was fumbling. “I get it, it was frustrating, but it’s fine. We got him to go away,” Roman knew why Virgil was mad, but was trying to calm him down. Virgil used to live with Deceit, and Remus, and..the others..
In the mindscape, there is the Mind Palace, the apartment/house-like building they all stayed in. There’s the imagination, where anything can happen. That’s also where Memory Lane was held, and the Vineyard Village, which is basically a small universe (with magic and such) inspired by many things, that Thomas made when he was younger. It was full of characters he created, and it became larger when he started vine, and all his characters from his shorts and vines lived there too. Roman basically created the whole village, so he made a point to stop by and greet the characters.
But then, there’s the Dark Side Tower (as they called it). It was made to look like a dark version of Rapunzel’s tower, and the inside basically looks like this. When you enter the bottom floor, it’s the dark-side commons, with a tv, kitchen, and living room set up. Then there is a set of stairs to the side, and when you walk up, there’s a floor that’s Deceit’s (right above the commons), and above that, one for Remus. Of course, there’s more sides, more rooms, but at the very top, there’s another common area where all the dark sides can meet. Now that you have that picture, just imagine Virgil living there at one point. It wasn’t the best.
Virgil was definitely considering going to the Dark Side Tower, but he decided not to. He left it alone, and was just fine. Until Deceit comes into the Mind Palace to mess with everyone about a week later.
Virgil woke up a little later than everyone else, and found a note from Logan on the fridge.
‘Patton took Little Ro to the imagination to visit Remy and Emile in Vineyard Village. I’m in my room preparing some things for Thomas. - Logan’
He nodded to himself, moving to make himself something to eat. He was pulling the milk out of the fridge when he heard Deceit’s tune playing faintly. “No, no, no. Why are you here?” he growled out lowly, slamming the milk onto the counter and looking around. Abruptly, the tune stopped, and Virgil sighed, returning to pouring milk into his coffee.
“Hey there, Anx,” Virgil jumped when he heard Deceit’s voice behind him. He turned, glaring at the partially scale covered face.
“Don’t call me that, you know my name,”
“And you know mine, but you don’t use it.”
“Use my actual name, and I’ll keep my lips zipped about yours,” Virgil bargained, continuing to make his breakfast as if Deceit’s presence didn’t make his anxiety skyrocket.
“Bargaining secrets, hmm? I know so many things I could reveal to that little..boyfriend of yours.”
"Oh shut up, will you? I’m honest with Roman, he knows me. What do you want?“
"I want you to come back to the Tower, we all miss you. Help us introduce the other unknowns to Thomas, please!” Deceit begged, but Virgil shook his head.
“It’s not happening, Dee.”
Virgil was internally panicking, he didn’t wanna go back. Never, he liked the palace, the Tower was terrifying.
“I won’t be back,” Deceit lied, disappearing. Virgil whimpered, finding himself regressing at the bad memories. He bit his lip, debating on finding Logan to babysit him, but before he could stop himself, the Logical Trait entered the kitchen.
“I’m not delusional..I heard Deceit’s Tune..right?”
Virgil nodded, his eyes tearing over. “I’m sorry he was messing with you, I’m sure I can find a way to keep them out of the Mind Palace, alright?” he reassured.
“Mhm,” Virgil nodded, his voice becoming more childish and quiet. Logan’s face softened when he realized what was happening. He waved his hand, and Mickey Mouse started playing in the living room.
“Hey bat, how about you go watch some cartoons while I finish up your breakfast here?” he spoke in his 'caregiver voice’ and Virgil gave in. Virgil sat on the couch, watching the screen while Logan dumped out his coffee and made some mint tea instead, filling the boys sippy cup.
Then a question hit Logan’s mind.
Did Deceit know about Virgil’s regression?
A/N: I uh…kinda got carried away with the world building there. And also, yes, Remy and Emile are there, just as figments from the village where Thomas’s characters are held. And also, y’all better get used to the Dark Side Tower bc if yall want Dee and Ree, then it’ll be a reoccurring setting.
