{Chapter 2-Big Brother}//Soft, Cute, and Far Smarter Than You [Sanders Sides Agere/CGLRE]
A/N: The first chapter was kind of an intro, so there's a bit of a timeskip between that chapter and this one. it's no more then a month, I just wanted to mention it because some things happened during that time that will be explained throughout this chapter.
also this chapter features kid!logan being excited about science stuff+being a good big brother to Virgil.
--
"Kiddo, you're going to make a mess!" Patton commented, looking at Logan, who wore gloves, science goggles, and had a whole set up at the dining room table.
"That's what the tray is for, Daddy!" Logan explained in his kiddish voice, pointing to the metal tray that was meant to catch the extra foam when he added the vinegar to the baking soda. He had some baking soda inside of a glass cup, and another cup with some vinegar in it. Patton saw how excited he was when he saw the science experiment on youtube, Logan was so quick to ignore anything Patton had to say in order to set up the experiment.
"Okay, I'm gonna pour it in now!" he told Patton, taking hold of the glass of vinegar and tipping it above the cup of baking soda.
"Do a dramatic countdown!" Roman interrupted, entering the dining room/kitchen to come watch Logan do his little experiment. Virgil was trailing behind Roman. They sat at the table, Virgil in between Patton and Roman.
Logan rolled his eyes, "Why?" he asked.
"It's simply necessary. You're gonna make something like fizz up or whatever, right?" Logan nodded in an annoyed way, ready to start.
"Okay well it's like a bomb countdown, you have to do a dramatic countdown before something cool happens!" Roman explained.
"Oh...okay!" Logan agreed, taking a second to readjust the cup in his hand and to tip it above the other cup. "Five," Roman joined in, "Four, three," this is where Patton and Virgil jumped in. "Two...."
"One!" the liquid dissolved the powder in a few seconds, and the substance foamed up and bubbled over the rim of the cup, oozing down onto the tray. Logan giggled, backing up a bit and clapping his hands.
"Daddy, can I do it again?" Logan questioned, looking at his caregiver with a hopeful look. Patton gave a soft nod before speaking,
"I don't see why not."
Logan did the experiment a few times over, giggling and clapping his hands, practically bouncing in his seat each time. Patton thought it was adorable how excited he was about this. "Why does it do dat, Lo?" Virgil asked after watching in awe the first few times.
"It's a chemical reaction! When these two," he pointed to the box of baking soda, and the bottle of vinegar, "mix together, they fizz up because it becomes a unstable substance." he explained, excited to try and teach Virgil something.
Virgil seemed confused, obviously a bit younger then Logan was at the moment. "They don't go together well, so they kind of try to separate, and it makes it fizz up and stuff!" he tried to simplify it, and Virgil understood a bit more. "Do you wanna try to do it?" Logan offered, a slight shyness to his voice. Virgil looked up at him with curious and excited eyes.
"Can I do it, Roro?" Virgil pleaded, looking up at his own caregiver, kind of pouting in an attempt at convincing him.
"Go ahead, baby. Just be careful," Roman nodded, and Virgil quickly went around the table to sit next to Logan.
Over the past six or so weeks, whenever the two boys regressed together, they began to adapt a sibling-like bond. Logan was always older then Virgil was, and would guide Virgil through simple things that he could understand. And if Virgil was to little to learn anything, he'd play a simple game. He really liked being the big brother.
Not being the mentally youngest one there helped him feel less vulnerable for some reason, childish but not the littlest. It was comforting to him, and helped him feel better about regressing when someone else was too.
"Okay, watch me." he instructed. He took the spoon from the box of baking soda and scooped a bit of it into the cup. "When you take this glass," he pointed to the one with the clear liquid in it, "and pour it into here," he motioned back to the powder-filled glass, "they'll mix and fizz up. Put on these gloves." Logan pulled two gloves from the box that was off to the side of everything else, taking off his goggles while Virgil busied himself with the gloves.
"Vee, let me help!" he offered once he realize he was having trouble. He set his goggles on the table, helping Virgil pull the plastic gloves onto his hands. Once that was done, he stretched his goggles over Virgil's head, letting Virgil adjust them on his face.
"Whoa!" he giggled as Logan put them on his face, Logan smiling at him.
"You need to protect your eyes, because that stuff will hurt them." he explained, in a soft, but still kiddish voice. Virgil nodded, reaching out for the cup of vinegar. "Okay, are you ready?"
Virgil nodded again, tipping the cup slightly above the other one. "Three, two..." Roman and Patton counted with Logan.
"One!"
The room filled with Virgil's giggles and Logan's excited clapping and squealing. "Wasn't that awesome?" Logan asked in excitement. Virgil nodded excitedly.
Logan looked at him, and they locked eyes. "Again!" they said in unison, bursting out into giggles right after.
--
Patton and Roman didn't quite understand why they were so entertained by such a simple experiment, but the boys were having fun and being cute together, so they obviously didn't protest. Once that was over, the boys moved to the living room to play.
"That's...um, Daddy? How do you say it?" Logan was trying to flip through a book with Virgil, mostly being the one to read it. Patton looked over his shoulder, squinting slightly at the word on the colorful page. "Especially."
"Es-pe-shi-lae?" he sounded out, attempting to copy Patton's pronunciation.
"Es-pesh-ially," Patton broke it down farther, and Logan tried again.
"Especially!" he tried, smiling when he got it right. He looked back down to the page. "Especially Sarah, the boy said..." He continued
He kept reading through stories at Virgil's request, because that's what big brothers should do, right? He didn't know for sure, but he was having fun. Seeing Virgil get excited about things in the stories, or coo over animated animals within the books pages, made Logan happy. He made Virgil happy by reading the stories to him, and knowing that made him happy and excited.
And he was even more happy when Patton and Roman began to praise him after Virgil settled down for a nap. "It was really nice to let Virgil play with you, and do the science experiment earlier. I'm so proud of you, Little Scholar." Patton spoke to him softly, giving him a kiss on his forehead and making him blush from the praise.
"Thank you, Daddy..."
Okay, so maybe Logan called Patton 'Daddy', like every chance he got. He was just really excited to have a caregiver now, and honestly really proud of himself for having the courage to ask Patton about it. He started the conversation when he was already somewhat slipping, and Patton was more then glad to officialize it.
Patton knew this, and thought it was adorable, so he always replied with an adorable nickname.
"You're welcome, Little One."
--
"So....um, do you know what an agere sibling is?" Virgil questioned. Both of the men were big now, a full day after the morning of the science experiment. Logan nodded quickly, internally hoping that Virgil was getting at what he thought.
"Yes, I'm aware of the term. Littles will often befriend another regressor who is willing to play a sibling role while they are both in their headspaces," he replied, taking a sip out of his mug of coffee. Patton and Roman weren't there to hear the conversation.
"Yeah, exactly! Roman kinda told me that I should ask you about this because I was wondering, and you kinda already do what an older brother would while we are little because you usually are older then me and you're actually really sweet and nice and you teach me about stuff and I really like that-" Logan cut off his run-on sentence rambling with a response.
"Yes, I'll be your older brother while we are regressed." he replied, making Virgil smile.
"Uh, thanks?" Virgil didn't really know what to say, he wasn't used to talking about his littlespace much while he wasn't in it.
Logan chuckled, "You're welcome. I'll inform Patton later today,"
"I'll do the same with Roman." Virgil nodded. It was a bit tense, but they also gave each other soft smiles that made it all better. Logan started talking about adult things, changing the subject so that they were more comfortable.
And while Logan was acting like it was no big deal, he was definitely excited about officially being able to call himself the big brother.
--
A/N: Okay so two chapters in one day? that's cool. I have so many ideas for this story, I just wanted to write out the intro chapter+also show how Virgil and Logan interact while regressed (it varies depending on they're ages but I wanted to show a taste, y'know?)/and how they became brothers. Also, big virgil and logan are kinda awkward right now but mostly because they are a little uncomfortable/tense while they're talking because it's different for them.
anyways, teenspace logan is coming soon. Eventually, he's gonna regress mostly to teen ages but at first he doesn't realize he *can* regress to a teenager. but dw, toddlerspace logan (first chapter) and kiddospace (this chapter) will still definitely make appearances. I hope y'all likes this chapter and stick around to see more!

Note
Would lilVirgil ever not be enough of a coping mechanism?
sometimes
if little space isn’t enough he’ll start to cry out of frustration, and avoid the others so he doesn’t bother them. of course they always find out, and give him extra affection.

{Chapter 1- Small Beginnings}//Soft, Cute, and Far Smarter Than You [Sanders Sides Agere/CGLRE]
Here’s the story description+wattpad cover before you read the first chapter!!:
Tumblr media
“Patton was spending every second he could learning about Logan.  Little Logan and Big Logan alike, both of them were definitely worth his time.  He's always wanted to be a dad, and playing the role for the little logical side came so easily for him. And the fact that he was slowly falling for Big Logan just made him all the more interested Maybe Logan hadn't been a regressor quite as long as Virgil had, but the coping skill definitely helped him just as much. From being a hyper toddler who just wants to read a children's book about space, to being a fourteen year old that is only interested in Sherlock and Netflix, every second is an adventure with a little who probably has a larger vocabulary than you do. So tag along for adventures, with two littles and two carers. A sibling like bond between the regressors, a secret shared between the sides. Prepare for a wild ride, because this is the beginning of a brand new life. Little Logan, no matter what age he was regressed to, would and always will be Soft, Cute, and Far Smarter Than You.”
--
"Logannnn!"
Logan was very much still asleep with Patton opened his door, waking him up with a sing-songy voice. It was weird, Patton checking on him every single morning. Logan knew it was just him checking if he'd have a baby for the day, or if Logan needed anything. He sat up a bit, rubbing at his eyes before looking up at Patton. His vision was still a bit blurry because he didn't have his glasses on, but he gave a soft wave.
"Still sleepy?" Patton chuckled, coming to the side of the bed and sitting down.
"mhm." was his only response.
"Virgil woke up pretty small today, and I wanted to check if you felt little too." Patton spoke after a few moments, "So...am I making breakfast for a toddler or not?"
Logan giggled at that, immediately covering his mouth with his hand. "Didn't mean that. No, m' big."
"Okay, so I'm guessing you're around five right now?" Patton teased, softly reaching over and tugging on his wrist so that his hand was pulled away from his face. Logan was blushing, looking around for one of his stuffed animals to hug. "Awe, sweetheart. I know being little and cutesy, especially around us is new for you, but you have nothing to be scared of."
"Pwomise?" Logan replied quickly, biting on his lip. Patton gave a soft smile, knowing the boy was regressing fully now.
"Absolutely, baby." he leaned forward, kissing his forehead softly.
This whole thing, Virgil and Logan being toddlers sometimes, it was new. Newer to Patton then it was to Roman, but either way it was an adjustment for everyone. Virgil had been regressing since he left the dark sides at the latest, but he had only told Roman about his littlespace three or so months ago. And the only reason he did so was because he involuntarily regressed while he was there to see.
Logan himself had been regressing knowingly for only a few months, but he had suspicions that he had been regressing much longer, he just didn't know what it was to label it. He thought it was some weird thing, not a completely healthy coping skill that was improving his mental health. So when Virgil slipped up at the dinner table just a few weeks ago and couldn't come up with a cover up, Logan was glad to hear that there was another little in the house.
Logan remembered the rant Patton gave Virgil and Logan, telling them that they shouldn't hide their regression, and now that everyone knew, they could regress whenever they wanted. Virgil came to Logan's room after dinner, and they talked for hours about what was previously a secret.
"I would've never pegged you as a regressor, but I guess it makes sense. You probably have the most stressful work out of all of us. This might be weird, but do you know your age range?"  Logan remembered him asking.
Logan remembered talking throughout the whole night, and ending up somewhat cuddled up in Logan's bed. They didn't regress that night, but they did both wake up small.
That day was no more then two weeks ago, and things were still being settled and figured out. Roman being Virgil's caregiver had already been arranged, but Logan didn't have a caregiver. He insisted that he didn't really need one, the only reason he told everyone was because they reacted well to Virgil and he didn't logically see the point in keeping in a secret when he knew that he'd most likely be accepted. He also knew it would make things easier, if he didn't have to hide and rush off to his room every single time he felt himself slipping.
And though he said that he didn't need a carer, doing things by himself that morning while watching Roman guide and baby Virgil kind of made him sad. That's when Patton stepped in, helping him and giving him affection, he did his best and his best was enough for Logan. So since then, every single morning, Patton would come to his room and ask if he was little. Most of the time, he wasn't, and he'd get a soft hug and a "breakfast will be ready soon". But when he was, like now, Patton would help him get ready for the day.
"Do you want a pacifier today, baby?" Patton asked softly, walking around his room to pull together an outfit. He looked at Logan, who nodded a bit. Patton gave him a soft smile, walking over to his dark blue dresser. He opened the bottom drawer, leaning down to retrieve the small black chest from it. He closed the drawer and came back over to his bed, sitting down next to where Logan was now sitting crisscross-applesauce on his bed.
Logan was now dressed in a blue sweater and a pair of black shortalls, content with the outfit Patton had picked out for him. Patton opened the small chest, turning it towards the boy. "Which one would you like, Little One?"
Logan looked inside the box, at the six different pacifiers. Two were plain solid-colored adult pacifiers (one dark blue, one white), two were modified baby pacifiers, and two were deco pacifiers. "I don know," he pouted, looking between them.
"One of the blue ones would probably match your outfit well?" Patton offered as advice. Logan hesitated, looking between the leftover options.
He picked out one of the decorative ones, it was pastel blue with the phrase 'baby' on the handle in white letter beads. There were different colored gems stuck on it, and the button of the pacifier there was a little heart that was blue and sparkly.
"It's so cute! You're so adorable oh my god-" Patton paused to take a breath, looking at the adorableness that was the little in front of him. He did that a lot, where he'd coo over him while he was supposed to be taking care of him. "Okay I'm sorry, here's a pacifier clip," he dug into the box, pulling out a white pacifier clip to attach his pacifier to his shirt.
"It's kay," Logan giggled at Patton, blushing a bit. He let Patton connect the pacifier to the clip, and then clip it to his overalls. He spat out the pacifier playfully, letting it hang from his shirt.
"Be careful, that one is a decorative one! You'll be sad if something falls off of it!" Patton warned, Logan pouting a bit.
"Noo, don't wan break it!" he squeaked, looking at the pacifier now for any sign of damage.
"It's all okay, Lo. I was just letting you know so that it didn't happen," Patton explained.
"Oh, okay..." Logan slipped the pacifier nipple back into his mouth before adjusting his gasses on his face.
"You ready to go downstairs? I'll let you have fruit and whipped cream for breakfast!" Patton offered. Logan bounced in place excitedly, moving to get off of his bed.
"Don't you want Lilly?" Patton asked, getting off the bed as well but not leaving.
"Oh! Liwwy!" Logan reached for the stuffed elephant in question, squeezing her in his arms. Patton chuckled at his adorable antics, reaching out his hand for him to take. Logan took it softly, letting Patton guide him down the stairs.
--
"Look, it's saturn!" Logan had this habit of switching what age he was regressed to in littlespace. Patton was starting to get used to him waking up really small and then adjusting later. No one was sure why he did it, but it was definitely noticeable. His pacifier hung somewhat-uselessly off of his overalls, and he was sitting next to Patton, reading picture books out loud.
Patton had taken over the very important job of holding Lilly while he read. "Yeah, I see it honey." Logan took this as a signal to continue reading his space book. Patton would act shocked at random facts, making Logan feel like he taught him something (which made him excited), and also point out the pictures in the book. If Logan began to stumble over a word, he'd point at it and Patton would help him sound it out.
Logan and Patton haven't officially talked about the whole caregiver thing, Patton just played the role when needed. Logan was definitely not secretly planning out how he was going to ask Patton to be his caregiver, that was surely not a thing he was considering.
Patton was just so good at helping him slip when he was close, and comforting him about not wanting to be small. "Baby, baby, baby. You're so cute!" Patton was practically squealing now, and he 'booped' Logan's nose softly. "You soft, little, cute thing I can't even-" he squeezed him into a hug. Logan giggled, scrunching his nose and kicking his feet a bit.
Roman chuckled, entering the living room with Virgil trailing behind him shyly. "I did the same thing when I first found out about this baby emo. I was like, so obsessed with how adorable he is," he sat on the couch near Logan and Patton, pulling Virgil onto the couch and setting him on his lap. Virgil was facing towards Roman, and he almost immediately buried his face in his chest.
"And you're not anymore?" Patton sounded as if he was betrayed or something.
"I got used to the adorableness, so I at the very least don't have a heart attack from the cuteness every single time." Roman lightly ran his fingers through Virgil's hair, causing him to hum.
Patton went to say something, but Logan tugged on Patton's hand to get his attention. "What is it, baby?" Patton spoke softly, looking at him in curiousity.
Logan silently pointed at the tv, mumbling something. "What was that, sweetheart?"
Logan whined, taking Lilly from Patton's lap and squeezing her tight. His picture book was abandoned beside him. "'Punzel!" he repeated louder, lifting Lilly up so that he was hiding behind her.
"You mean Rapunzel? You wanna watch Tangled, baby?" Roman translated for Patton. Logan nodded a bit.
"Oh, sure! We can put on Tangled for you!" Patton reached forward, getting the remote from the coffee table and turning on the tv. Roman distracted himself with talking to Virgil in his lap. Once Patton located Disney+ and went to search up the requested movie.
"We can make some lunch while the boys watch this," Roman suggested as Patton went to go play the movie. Virgil lifted his head from Roman's chest with a worried pout. "I'll be in the kitchen baby. If you really need me, I'm not far."
Virgil still pouted, but eased up. Roman kissed his forehead before moving him so that he was just sitting on the couch. Logan kinda went quiet, silently slipping his pacifier into his mouth and leaning back. "Okay, I'll be in the kitchen if you need me, sweetheart. I'll watch the movie with you after you two eat, okay?"
Logan gave a soft nod, smiling a bit. Patton gave him a kiss on the forehead, before leaving the boy. Patton hit the light switch on the way out, and the two littles settled in to watch the movie.
This whole family thing, being taken care of and having another little around, it was definitely different.
But it wasn't a bad different. Yeah, Logan was nervous to be openly little, as was Virgil. But, once they got over that nervousness, they'd form a family that would be full of adventures and memories.
And I have one thing to ask.
Will you stick around to see the adventures?
Will you stay and watch these four dorks form new memories?
Because this is definitely going to be a wild ride.

Memories and Loneliness-Agere!Sides AU! (pt.24)
Virgil felt so lonely and confused when he woke up in babyspace that day. Like, crashing within the lowest range of his headspace ages, lingering at around two years old, barely able to talk. He knew that Patton and Logan were in the imagination, and that Roman had cleared time for writing with Thomas. Meaning that he was alone in the core side Mind Palace.
He was so used to being taken care of, it felt weird trying to take care of himself. He opened the refrigerator, sighing in relief when he saw a sippy cup full of cinnamon milk, with a note on it.
'Incase Little Vee takes over while I'm gone. There is goldfish crackers on the counter, and applesauce in here-Roman and Patton'
He smiled, locating the little bowl, covered in stars, pulling the plastic lid off to get into the applesauce. He found a spoon and sat at the kitchen table, swinging his feet and humming as he ate. He didn't wanna do much until someone got back, he didn't want to make a mess or break any rules, even if his carer wasn't here. He thought back a few months, before he had told Roman and the others, when he hid away in his room and regressed all by himself. He thought back even farther to when Deceit took care of him. He whimpered at the mix of nostalgia and loneliness he felt. He climbed off of the chair and left the bowl there, his eyes filling up with tears.
He found his stuffed bear, sniffling and burying his face in it's fur. Loneliness was much to overwhelming for little Virgil, it why he was always cuddled up to somebody. He know that if he really needed it, he could call Patton and Logan. But he didn't want to interrupt their adventure. He didn't feel like getting his pacifier, he just curled up on his bed, holding his stuffed animal close. One of his rules was that he had to ask for something when he needed it, but no one was there to give him the affection he needed.
--
"And where do you think you're going, mister?" Remus blocked the door of the Dark Side Tower, not letting Deceit out of the commons.
"I know the rest of the core sides are busy, I just want to check on Virgil," he muttered. Deceit had no intention of interacting with Virgil for long, he just wanted to drop in, torment him a bit.
Remus deemed this response acceptable, sliding out of the way and letting Deceit out. "I'll probably interrupt Roman's writing spree with some dark idea," he shrugged, and Deceit nodded.
Deceit walked for a few minutes, and soon the atmosphere lighting shifted from dark, to sunny. He had entered the main part of the mind, farther in the distance, he could hear Logan and Patton giggling about something. He sighed, now able to use his magic, though he wasn't great at good magic. He managed to sink out, and appear in the kitchen of the Mind Palace. This made him wonder if Virgil had gotten the hang of light magic yet, as it was really hard to do in the dark corner of the mind.
"Virgilll!" he sang out, walking in the commons and noticing he wasn't there. He snapped his fingers and made his tune stop playing, "Vee?" he muttered.
He heard sniffling and whimpering coming from the bedrooms, and he hesitantly made his way towards the room he heard the noise from. "D-dee! Go away!" he heard a high voice sob out, obviously having trouble forming a sentence.
"Hey, hey, I'm sorry for scaring you," he opened the door to see the anxious and mentally-two year old side crying, holding a bear close.
"I'm not gonna mess with you, I promise. I was coming to check on you anyway, to make sure you're okay," He hesitantly came closer to the bed. He knew, based off of Virgil's reaction, that he was uncomfortable. He didn't sit down or anything. "Are you just crying because I'm here? I-I'll leave, Baby Vee, if that's it."
All he wanted was for Virgil to be okay. "K-kinda, but also..lonely,' he mumbled, bringing his thumb to his mouth and looking down.
"D-do you want me to stay until someone comes back? Do the others know?" Deceit was thrown off, and he was only gonna do whatever Virgil was comfortable with.
"Others know, Roro is my dada," Virgil seemed to pipe up, giggling at that. "N' da others take care of me too, all da time," he blushed when he realized how much he was talking. Deceit was just glad to see the tears drying up.
"Well, I'm glad you have support, and people to take care of you," Deceit was trying his best to be soft, falling right back into his old caregivery ways. "Now, do you want me to stay, or go find one of the others for you?"
"N-no! Don't find others, Ro is workin' n' Lo and Pat having fun! I be fine..," he hesitated, looking at Deceit. "Y-you can stay." he decided.
Deceit nodded, "Okay. Have you eaten?" he was hesitant, but he sat on the end of the bed.
"Roro left applesauce for me..I didn't eat it all tho. When I eat I'm supposed to eat as much as I can, b-but I got sad and just wanted stuffie!" he defended, as if Deceit was gonna punish him.
"Are you still hungry, bud?" he asked, Virgil nodded a bit. "Lets go make something then."
Virgil got up, and Deceit pulled his hand away from his mouth. "If the others know, I'm assuming you have little gear? Do you have pacifiers?"
Virgil blushed, nodding and pulling the plastic box out from under the bed. It was full of decorated pacifiers. Okay, he may have been a bit spoiled, but he appreciated every single thing he was awarded with. Though, he did have an issue accepting awards without feeling like he didn't deserve it.
"Woah, there are a lot of pacis!" Deceit acted fake-shocked, causing Virgil to giggle and nod.
"Dada knows I like pacis, lots n lots, so when m' good he gets me dem! I also like decorating them with Roro when I big, he likes making cute pacis for me!"
Deceit was glad to know Roman was a good caregiver. "That's adorable, which one are you gonna use?"
Virgil pulled out a black one that had, that said 'cuddly baby' on the handle, with a animated baby-bottle as the center-piece. It was decorated in pastel and silver gems. "Woah, fancy. Very cute and set for a baby," Deceit booped his nose, causing him to giggle again before he popped it in his mouth.
Deceit turned on Sleeping Beauty in the commons, making sure he was comfortable, before going to the kitchen, washing out his bowl and leaving it in the sink. He found vanilla yogurt, knowing well that Virgil liked it.
Within a few minutes, he set a small bowl in Virgil's lap on the couch. "Uh..we don't eat anything dat you can spill on da couch, it's a rule because we're clumsy.."
"we're?" Deceit questioned. Virgil blushed and slapped a hand over his mouth.
"don't worry, tis a secret!" he remove his hand, pulling his pacifier out of his mouth, and doing all a two year old could do to avoid getting messy. Deceit saw in one of the cabinets, sippy cups and bottles in all different colors, most of them lining up with a specific side. He was pretty sure it was the others little gear.
"Hey, buddy, you don't have to tell me if you don't wanna. But, a-are the other sides littles too?" he asked.
"Don't think m' supposed to tell you-"
Both sides were scared when the prince like trait appeared in the kitchen. "Deceit?" Roman didn't seem mad, just really shocked and confused.
"No, no! Don't yell or make him goes away, I let him stay!" Virgil said. It was probably good it was Roman who came back first, not Logan or Patton. Besides Virgil, Roman was the most sympathetic to the dark sides.
Roman nodded lightly, scanning over Deceit with his eyes. "Care to explain why you're here though?"
"I knew everyone would be gone, I was gonna come check on him and mess with him. But he was crying, and little, and lonely and I didn't want to leave him. But I said I was only gonna stay until someone else got back, sorry," Deceit quickly got up, ready to leave.
"Wait, you know about age regression? You knew about Virgil?"
Deceit nodded silently, as if saying 'obviously'. Deceit's  voice was different, softer rather than extra, and he seemed more genuine. "How? He hasn't talked to you in months and as far as I know he's only been regressing for a few months."
Deceit faltered. "Oh..he probably didn't wanna worry you, but he's been regressing since about a year before he left the dark sides," Deceit admitted. For the first time in a while, Roman accepted what he said immediately as truth. He seemed shell-shocked, but not mad or upset.
"That makes sense, I guess. But, I'm back and while I might not mind you stepping in for Virgil, Patton definitely will. So, it's best you leave before they get back," Roman spoke hesitantly, but Deceit nodded and sunk out without another word.
Virgil whimpered when Roman looked at him, trying to hide in his hoodie, like he was scared of Roman. Roman came and sat next to Virgil. "Baby, I'm not mad at you. I was just confused and shocked...I know that it's in his nature to be villian like, but he does care about you and I know that. I'm glad you had someone to help calm you down," Roman softened his face, pushing his hood down.
"And, if Deceit agrees not to mess with you, maybe you can go talk to him when you're big. I want to see Remus anyways..." Virgil hugged Roman.
"B-but what about Lo n' Pat! Dey won't like dat,"
"If we wanna visit people we're close to, we have every right. Yes, they've done bad stuff to us in the past, but Remus is my brother, and I know you were close to Deceit."
Virgil nodded. Roman knew more than anything that his brother was trying to help Thomas in the only way he knew how, and he was created villainy. He was pretty sure that Deceit was the same way. They developed believing they had to be manipulative and such. If they toned it down, or were raised the same way the core sides were, they'd be totally different.
Virgil could change, why couldn't the other two?
Now, it was just a matter of convincing Logan and Patton that they weren't all bad.

Fussy Baby-Agere!Sides AU (pt.20)
“They’re both really, really tiny!” Roman was basically squealing at the adorable sight he saw when he entered Virgil’s room. Patton was curled up, in little clothes, next to an obviously also regressed, Virgil.
“I’m assuming that Patton woke up little, because he was quite regressed, and found that Virgil was the only one awake. And Virgil was regressed too,” Logan concluded, following Roman to Virgil’s bedroom.
“Dada!” Virgil made grabby hands towards Roman, and Roman came over and hugged him. “Lil Pat came to my room, said he had scawy nightmare! So I stayed big as I could to protect him from da monsters!”
Logan and Roman’s hearts simultaneously melted, “You did a very good job protecting him, young knight. But, now Logan is here to scare off the nightmare-causing monsters, so you can be as little as you want.”
“Good..feel really tiny,” Virgil crawled to the edge of the bed, swinging his feet off the edge. Logan picked up Patton.
“We should go put you in a new onesie, and get you some new juice. How does bath time sound?”
Patton only babbled, seeming quite bubbly, giggling lightly. Logan carried him out, leaving the other two by themselves. “You take a shower every night, so I think we’re safe to hold off on  a bath with you. Let get you out of those big boy clothes, hmm?”
Virgil nodded, “feel really small, onesie only p'eas?”
Roman moved to open his closet, pulling a white onesie off the hanger. “Whatever you’d like, baby.”
This onesie had metal button snaps on the crotch and shoulders. “Dada..should probably tell you somethings..” Virgil was blushing lightly and he seemed to be very shy about whatever he was about to say.
“What is it, Vee?” Roman set the onesie out, instructing Virgil to remove his hoodie.
“When m’ dis small..wear pullups, have accidents sometimes,” he mumbled lightly, and Roman’s face softened. Even when Virgil was on the littler side, it still wasn’t this young of a regression. He was in a much younger headspace than usual.
“Awe, baby, why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Never been dis lil wif you before,” Virgil tilted his head lightly, still blushing.
“Well, there’s nothing wrong with that, and it’s good you told me. Where do you keep the pullups?”
Seperate from where he hid his other little stuff, the pullups were placed inside of a box, under a few hoodies in his closet. Roman located them, pulling out a slip-on pullup covered in a pastel baby block design. “How old are you, Vee?”
“Vewy small..want baba n cuddles!” he kicked his feet lightly, and Roman chuckled.
“You can have all the cuddles in the world once you’re all dressed, baby boy.”
Roman was quick to undress him, but once he was in his underwear, he was hesitant. Virgil covered his face with his hands, and Roman noted that he wasn’t the only embarrassed one. He got to pullup on him, instructing him to lie back after pulling the white onesie over his head. He snapped it at the crotch, and the baby was all dressed.
Virgil whined softly, and Roman didn’t know what to do. “What is it?”
Virgil only tilted his head, whining softly, bouncing in place. “Ababa!” he spoke as if his babbles should have made complete sense to his carer. Roman thought, before it clicked in his head.
“Pacifier? Is that what you want?” Roman found his little plastic box of his pacifiers. Virgil clapped his hands.
“urpel!” he squealed, causing Roman to chuckle again.
“P-ur-ple,” he sounded out the word, trying to get VIrgil to repeat, but the baby only tilted his head.
“Urpel! Urpel!”
Roman nodded, not pushing him to pronounce the word correctly, just pulling out the pastel purple pacifier. Virgil opened his mouth and made an ‘ah!’ sound when Roman approached the edge of the bed. Roman gave it to him, ruffling his hair. Virgil seemed to be happy, just slightly fussy, and less verbal. Roman was willing to deal with it, he thought his baby was quite adorable, no matter what.
After breakfast, Virgil sat alone, surrounded by stuffed animals on the couch. Logan was nearby, and Patton entertained himself with baby blocks. Roman had left the room only seconds ago to go to the bathroom, and Virgil’s eyes were welling up with tears. He sniffled, and Logan looked over.
“No, no, no. Don’t be sad, what’s wrong buddy?”
“Want dada!” he whined, crying loudly around his pacifier.
“You’re quite fussy, aren’t you?” Logan pulled him closer, trying to console him.
He was still crying by the time Roman came back about two minutes later, “What happened to my baby?”
Roman sat on the other side of Virgil, pulling him onto his lap and bouncing him on his knee. “You left and he just started crying. I think you have a little fussy baby on your hands.”
Roman shushed Virgil, comforting him until his cries turned into soft babbles. “Why were you crying, baby?”
“left me, dada. Miss you,” he mumbled.
“I only went to the bathroom, no need to cry. I would never leave you, yeah?”
Virgil nodded. As the day went on, Roman quickly found that he couldn’t leave Virgil alone, or else he’d cry. Whenever he needed or wanted anything, he’d whine and cry until Roman figured out what it was. He didn’t talk quite as much, and when he did, the words were pronounced incorrectly.
“Yesterday, wasn’t he sad because one of Thomas’s friends stopped talking to him? Maybe him being sad is what made him regress so little, and made him so fussy?” Logan offered, and Roman agreed quickly. He held Virgil on his lap, bouncing him on his knee, because whenever he stopped, Virgil whined and pouted.
“But that’s okay, I can deal with a fussy baby. I’ll just have to do my best to cheer you up, hmm?” Roman kissed his cheek, causing him to giggle and scrunch his nose.
Virgil whined softly, “What is it this time, little one?”
“Baba?”
He nodded, thanking Logan quietly when he handed over the milk-filled bottle. Roman proceeded to held him drink the liquid, still bouncing him lightly. Virgil whined again when the bottle was empty, and Roman watch him rub at his eyes. “Does baby bat need a nap?” he teased.
“Dada sleep too?” he mumbled, and Roman nodded.
“Of course,” he needed it, he was exhausted from making sure Virgil wasn’t crying, and managing all of his needs. He truly didn’t mind, but it was tiring.
Within a few minutes, the two were cuddling in Roman’s bed, covered by the 'fluffy blankies!’ Virgil loved.
Roman loved Baby Vee, just as much as he loved Big Virgil, and Toddler Vee. But while Baby Vee was the most cuddly, he was also the most needy. But, Roman didn’t mind.
That’s what caregivers are for, right?
A/N: Cute lil oneshot that doesn’t quite fit into the main plot. Ig you can say this takes place around the point I am in the story, so consider it ‘canon’ that Virgil wears pullups when he’s Extremely Smol

this is just me projecting but virgil having an argument with someone (i imagine deceit but whatever u want) and the other person getting a little too mean and vee regressing out of fear so cg/s has/have to swoop in and help the baby - 👑
Is this the same creative anon that sent me the prompt to Calm n Cuddly? If so, send a crown emoji in an ask? If not, then I have a bunch of people sending me ideas on the same day! Also this was THE PERFECT prompt to introduce the place where the dark sides live in the mindscape, because it isn’t in the normal mindplace/ imaginary apartment with the core sides. This also give me a chance to tie them into the story finally.
Unlikely and Unwelcome Appearances-Agere!Sides AU (pt.22)
Virgil was quite angry with Deceit. In the last Sanders Sides video, all the sides were trying to help Thomas figure out how to ask a very out-of his league guy out. At first, it was Roman convincing Virgil to let them go for it, and when he gave into that, it was everyone trying to figure out how to do it. There was a debate over if a relationship would be healthy at the moment, the best way to go about it, and the benefits of dating the guy.
And when they reached the “how to go about it”, Deceit barges in and tries to convince them to let Thomas make up something interesting about himself, to gain the interest of the guy. It really wasn’t that hard to shoot him down though, Logan providing the logic of lying would entice the guy, but disappoint him later. So Deceit left, and that was that.
But when the sides got back to the mindscape, Virgil was fumbling. “I get it, it was frustrating, but it’s fine. We got him to go away,” Roman knew why Virgil was mad, but was trying to calm him down. Virgil used to live with Deceit, and Remus, and..the others..
In the mindscape, there is the Mind Palace, the apartment/house-like building they all stayed in. There’s the imagination, where anything can happen. That’s also where Memory Lane was held, and the Vineyard Village, which is basically a small universe (with magic and such) inspired by many things, that Thomas made when he was younger. It was full of characters he created, and it became larger when he started vine, and all his characters from his shorts and vines lived there too. Roman basically created the whole village, so he made a point to stop by and greet the characters.
But then, there’s the Dark Side Tower (as they called it). It was made to look like a dark version of Rapunzel’s tower, and the inside basically looks like this. When you enter the bottom floor, it’s the dark-side commons, with a tv, kitchen, and living room set up. Then there is a set of stairs to the side, and when you walk up, there’s a floor that’s Deceit’s (right above the commons), and above that, one for Remus. Of course, there’s more sides, more rooms, but at the very top, there’s another common area where all the dark sides can meet. Now that you have that picture, just imagine Virgil living there at one point. It wasn’t the best.
Virgil was definitely considering going to the Dark Side Tower, but he decided not to. He left it alone, and was just fine. Until Deceit comes into the Mind Palace to mess with everyone about a week later.
Virgil woke up a little later than everyone else, and found a note from Logan on the fridge.
‘Patton took Little Ro to the imagination to visit Remy and Emile in Vineyard Village. I’m in my room preparing some things for Thomas. - Logan’
He nodded to himself, moving to make himself something to eat. He was pulling the milk out of the fridge when he heard Deceit’s tune playing faintly. “No, no, no. Why are you here?” he growled out lowly, slamming the milk onto the counter and looking around. Abruptly, the tune stopped, and Virgil sighed, returning to pouring milk into his coffee.
“Hey there, Anx,” Virgil jumped when he heard Deceit’s voice behind him. He turned, glaring at the partially scale covered face.
“Don’t call me that, you know my name,”
“And you know mine, but you don’t use it.”
“Use my actual name, and I’ll keep my lips zipped about yours,” Virgil bargained, continuing to make his breakfast as if Deceit’s presence didn’t make his anxiety skyrocket.
“Bargaining secrets, hmm? I know so many things I could reveal to that little..boyfriend of yours.”
"Oh shut up, will you? I’m honest with Roman, he knows me. What do you want?“
"I want you to come back to the Tower, we all miss you. Help us introduce the other unknowns to Thomas, please!” Deceit begged, but Virgil shook his head.
“It’s not happening, Dee.”
Virgil was internally panicking, he didn’t wanna go back. Never, he liked the palace, the Tower was terrifying.
“I won’t be back,” Deceit lied, disappearing. Virgil whimpered, finding himself regressing at the bad memories. He bit his lip, debating on finding Logan to babysit him, but before he could stop himself, the Logical Trait entered the kitchen.
“I’m not delusional..I heard Deceit’s Tune..right?”
Virgil nodded, his eyes tearing over. “I’m sorry he was messing with you, I’m sure I can find a way to keep them out of the Mind Palace, alright?” he reassured.
“Mhm,” Virgil nodded, his voice becoming more childish and quiet. Logan’s face softened when he realized what was happening. He waved his hand, and Mickey Mouse started playing in the living room.
“Hey bat, how about you go watch some cartoons while I finish up your breakfast here?” he spoke in his 'caregiver voice’ and Virgil gave in. Virgil sat on the couch, watching the screen while Logan dumped out his coffee and made some mint tea instead, filling the boys sippy cup.
Then a question hit Logan’s mind.
Did Deceit know about Virgil’s regression?
A/N: I uh…kinda got carried away with the world building there. And also, yes, Remy and Emile are there, just as figments from the village where Thomas’s characters are held. And also, y’all better get used to the Dark Side Tower bc if yall want Dee and Ree, then it’ll be a reoccurring setting.
