This thought + plus one of the lines from Chen's apartment scene has been rolling around in my head for a few months now, so a quick comic had to be made. Vendetta just has an odd fascination with being buried, given it's so out of nir realm of reality? It's a joke, but the thought is a nice one especially if ne could be a cool little church grim on top on that~

I don't think we talk enough about the fact that Ortega lost TWO of their closest friends at the same time. While they were the one calling the shots. Like, the books only briefly mention Anathema when characters talk about Heartbreak, but we see glimpses about how close the three of them were and all the inside jokes that they had (re: the mugs). Sidestep was maybe their best friend or their crush but Anathema was so important to both of them!! And suddenly Ortega is the only one left!! And they blame themself for that!!! Sure, they still had Chen (who lost his legs, while Ortega was presumably physically fine), but their friend group is dead now. Not a single thing will ever be the same. Because of decisions that they made.

No. That's not fair. It wasn't all Ortega; she was just the flashy, brilliant smile pasted on a world you wanted to be a part of. Anathema had managed, and that meant that you could too, right? Themmy was as ill a fit as you were, faking the smile more often than you because you didn't care enough to pretend. Were you the only one that noticed? Was that why you were friends?
